"Hey Hey" and "OK, OK" says HOCKEY to me.. TWICE.. Merriam has TWO hockey rinks.... Well, one with boards and a second open rink...
right off Mcknight and 94
nice pman! I like th hockey bit!
Master, where can I reach you? Home bee4 3:00; work thereafter?
Food for thought, provided by runningchick. She's experiencing technical difficulties...
Link to Longfellow poem - it's LONG. Line 143 has the "time and tide" reference everyone's stuck on. If there's a connection in this, I don't see it - but I didn't do more than skim it, though.
http://www.bartleby.com/42/785.html
Link to Frost poem - again, it's LONG. Lines 32 and 200 have "time"; line 77 has tide. I don't think this has anything to do with the hunt, but again, I didn't do more than skim it.

I believe it it the Red Lion Hotel..(old Ramada)
I seen a new sign cant remember the name the old ramada
yea lion thanks
anytime!
G - 10-4
well I'm going to see if I can find a sitter for my 13 month old then I am going out a diggin'
hoe about some help on street names around bc
ok wheres the playground at BC by the school
Totem Town (time to kill) area is actually part of the park area, to the east, but not crossing over to the Maplewood line.......
I like Merrium dug there alot last night, not many other places it could be there. starting to mounds may be good
Here's another tip,,,, "Down the hill, far from the woods", well which side of BC is there (if any) a sled hill or hill in general? b/c on the NorthEast side is Edgewood Ave, on the East Oakwood Rd Woodhill Dr and on the south Hillwood Rd, not actually boardering the part but close enough to me, I am using Mappoint to see all this.
I'm still thinking Merriam, but now I'm also starting to think Linwood might be a realistic possibility. I think Belvedere may fit though I've not actually seen the place. I would give Battle Creek some credit if I found out you could see a broadcast tower from there.
Well still trying to find the rite park.
OK...it's either BC or Phalen....but i can't get away from BC because that waterpark fits so damn good with the clues... well i am going to do some scouting. Good Luck.
the play area has some sand boxes, and a small wedge-shapped hill play area. It is no of the new rec cntr and E of the School. The parking lot is to the s and e just a bit.
C-ya G
Let's do the top 3 choice thing again....everyone type their top 3 picks!
We were at Belvedere this morning.... Not much going on there.. No playground on the grounds, but at the school across the street. It has a few ball fields, not much else.
hoe about some help on street names around bc
Longfellow 1 street away
Ang if you take exit off 94 and go So on 'Knight and take a R at Upper Afton you'll run right into it
allison nice to see ya last night
is there a tower you can see at Linwood?? any mississippi connection??
1. Merriam 2. Mounds 3. Como (but I hate to think that)
how did you come up with on the air and in the air is a tower? I dont realt think that is it but could be wrong
its a big park I guess is it all connected somehow BC
Marie -
Phalen & BC tied for #1
that's it!
ND, I like Mounds too. After going there, I saw at least 3 different spots that fit and are down a hill away from woods.
I think being patriotic and all in the air may be a flag
If it's in Battle Creek, it would likely be between Winthrop and Ruth, just south of Upper Afton Rd. That's where there is a wooded hill leading down to an unwooded area that's near a parking lot and playground.
some one in MN won 100.000 on lotto
Linwood has an overlook of the city
1. Merriam 2. Highland 3. Mounds
Chilly! If he/she takes a right that leads to BC school area and where the rec center is, they need to take a left to get the BC park
Merrium seems wrong. I dropped by there after giving a lecture on my way back to work. Although, I had boots, I was in a skirt.
I don't know, but I didn't like it in the slightest. I am back to BC. Maybe Linwood. I am musing MLK for some reason, although, I am sure you guys would find me crazy.
so...BC..... take 94 to McKinght?? (R) and then (R) on Upper Afton?
is bc in st paul or maplewood?
also babe ruth baseball ruth street
"in and on the air" "hunter's pride"....flag
merrium, mounds, AA-just for you allison
was thinking it was maplewood.
Well not for sure on that.
Can anyone confirm my BC directions?? Please...
Stay out of Maplewood. McKnight is the border.
"Hey, hey," you say, "We're game to play But give us a tip -- be fair!" OK, OK, here's all we'll say Look for something in and on the air
I think that the whole clue is one clue not two. It is in referance to baseball. Willie Mays, Fair ball, And the in and on the air would be the ball itself. Possibly the outfielder watching the ball.
new on the net,old on the hunt, not many people where I am at, so must be right place, see you there soon.
baseball is shown on the air . . .
I dont see how tip and spark fit in bc..
1. BC 2. BC 3. Como (DOU! ÒÓ )
I'd say Merriam, Linwood, Belvedere.
The water park in BC is in Maplewood.
I get a broadcast tower for in and on the air because they are usually high in the air and because they are boradcasting, they are "on the air". I really don't think ti could be anything else.
And from Linwood, well it has a view of a lot of the city, I assume you can see a tower from there. The only thing I don't like is that if you were looking down on it, it wouldn't really seem to be "in the air".
1. Indian Mound 2. Merriam 3. Hazel
The wild card is Linwood. IM vs Linwood = IM Merriam vs. Hazel = Merriam
And, in an upset, the winner is.......Merriam
The trails and all that jazz is on the maplewood side, the sliding hill, rec center, and school is on the St Paul side in BC
1. Indian Mound 2. Merriam 3. Hazel
The wild card is Linwood. IM vs Linwood = IM Merriam vs. Hazel = Merriam
And, in an upset, the winner is.......Merriam
thanks yall
tip----be fair = baseball the tip and like a clue
Allison, if you were to look down or straight at it instead of looking up, maybe thats why it said "in and on the air"
I'm off to meet Green at BC @ 12:15...anyone else???
well so are we when we hunt mound spark the air plans are in the air and there on the air there is radio tower you can see or more than one you can see all kinds of them from there tot's play on the slides
OK McKnight may be the StP/Mpwd boarder but it has been at BC many times before. And Sundays paper listed where the medallion has been every year showing it has been almost 3 miles ouside the StP area. Anyone else see what I am talking about?
not there I dot think..
Class until 3, will people still be at BC around 3:30/4:00?
Ill have to go back to BC what do you all think BC or linwood
Mounds, D&C & BC (Como alt.)
Has anybody check out mounds park not ind mounds...kinda fits; linwood is good, don't no squat about bel
burns ave>light a spark? any thoughts
yes but this year that said it is only in st paul parks.
it did seem right when I drove down the streets but didnt see the park funny how there hasnt been references to water
Mounds does have those look outs over the Mississippi River valley..if you wanted to link that with being in the air...
most years it has ben any where in ramsey county
what's the diff new dad?
Isn't Linwood right on St. CLair....no parking lot if it is
Angie "Tide" = water
Linwood has a parking lot.
true also plane's in air all day long and there pilots on the air radio towers all over the place..
Chilly, yeah, on St. Clair, right by 35-E, very small parking lot, have to park on a side street otherwise
"A Time to Kill" was set in Mississippi = Miss. R. = water
mound and indian mounds are diffrent parks.. I like the repaet of the names like hey hey ... same could be said for arlington, arlinton ark
yes most parks do. I am just trying to put wreck in to the parks or close
oh...whoops
could be I guess
Angie - They do have the Tide reference in #3 for H2O. Although it might just be regarding that it's in a Tide box though. There should be the annual golf, train, water or persons name in tonights clue.
I liked Mounds up till last nights clue, there are no park n rides or recs there
arlington?
FWIW: Time/Tide - Robert Frost poem(?) Frost Ave(?) In/On Air - Radio tower, KSTP on Hiway 61 Hey, Hey - song by Steam(hey hey goodbye). Possible steam tower? Amuse a tiny tot - Playground OR Arcade.....Arcade Ave Take your wreck - A car with a locked wheel could be a wreck(Wheelock) Points to Phalen............. Good Luck to all
is there a park that has a sign that says tot lot?
well still where is the word Wreck coming in to play as what would it be in clue with the spelling of a wrecked car it has to have use.
but "rec" doesn't mean that there necessarily has to be an actual center so to speak
How many of the parks in St. Paul have an acctual AMUSEment park?
Anyway, back to work. Going to see if I can get tomorrow off. Odds are I'd be useless at work tomorrow anyway.
I really want to go out diggin but where do I begin
All st paul parks are administered by the "parks and rec" department. I think clue 5 just says theres a parking lot there and a place for kids to play, most likely but not neccesarly a playground
I also thought about maybe it is in tater tot box or some thing.
OK I have a new Idea How about McMurray Field by Como?
I'm going to BC for awhile. Later
darthead... what about mcmurray?
I know mound spark has play area for kids lots and plenty of streat parking. and lots of walking trails as well
we need anew cluewriter
O'Neil Amusement Rides, Como park would fit in the doubling of words in clues, baseball field near by.....
I think you're right New Dad. There's always way too much 'digging' into the clues in here. But what else are we to do?
the repetive words are driving me nuts fun park geeez
where is mcmurry and what is around there?
The thing I liked most in any park was the DOT camera by merrium that was very high in the air on a pole and broadcasts on the air...
Can anyone recall past year's clues that would be as big a "stinger" as this year if the park n rec doesn't mean a Park and Rec Center? While I like the idea of keeping things open, that seems so specfic and I for one will be mightly ticked if it is in fact out at Phalen or BC or Como...or is it just me?
Shot in the dark but rec is short for recreation...isn't there a volleyball court or a basketball court right next to the parking lot at Indian Mound park...your also able to park in the street or in the lot..
fun park can just be any park tyo me any way..
MCMURRAY FIELD Lexington Parkway N. and Jessamine Avenue.
Does the smoke stack by Merriam actually put out smoke or can it just be assumed? I like the smoke 'in the air' better than planes for Merriam.
there are courts there big kids play area mound spark I think is there spark it is spelled like that on sign by tower out there.
smoke never thought of that.
Mounds park just seems to obvious to me, but who knows!
I still like mounds a lot.
I'm wit ya Bax - Lotsa generic clues early this year.
yes brneyes I think it is there to we will see I am waiting one more clue to go back out..
Do you think wreck could be a reference to a dump/ compost dump? And what about trek? Train track or Amtrac?
Dave it is over behind the pool at Como park I was just there and here is what I found. As you turn into Jassemine st there is a sign that says city of St Paul parks and rec the address is 1155 Jessamine clue game to play there is hocky, soccer, tennis, softball it is wide open there is a parking lot but small and all kinds of parking on the street. also from there you can see two towers one on the space needle and one in Mpls. it is in a rvein with hills all around and at one end there are woods and alot of slidding.
stil like mounds too airport, water, playground,on street parking also parking lots
Once again,
"Hey, hey," you say, "We're game to play But give us a tip -- be fair!" OK, OK, here's all we'll say Look for something in and on the air
I think that the whole clue is one clue not two. It is in referance to baseball. Willie Mays, Fair ball, And the in and on the air would be the ball itself. Possibly the outfielder watching the ball.
I never found any thing to work for woven brow
Brow is the top of a steep incline
hay hay be fair think is asking for a tip for paper down below
Knitted hat that covers your brow?
dart...here's food for thought..\ dog impound and also dog shelter but where does tot lot fit in?
like the brow of the cliff ok like that one..that make sence to me..
another meaning for knit your brow is to squint, wrinkle your forehead as to try and see something far away.
or like the webmaster wrote, it is hidden in an Orange and Black "Trek" hat worn above the eyebrow
The Orange and Black hat would fit with the Orange and Black on a "tide" box
thought about como but lot intrest there to much going on there..
Do you think that they'd really put it in something orange though considering that there's not much snow?
what orange and black?
Geez, we've been really, really busy noodling. Had to transcribe an injury report and there's been about 250 or more posts since I was here. Sounds like we've narrowed out a few parks, but have several in mind.
If were a dirty, dull orange hat, Yes I think they would. The hat would be absorbing water and grit from the snow and ground
tide sounds good.
okay going with the baseball theme...just where exactly were they trying to build the stadium?? Would you be able to see if from one of the look outs at any of the parks?
what about newll, ball fields, can see a raio tower, knit you brow-pierce for pierce butler. Fair -fairview
eyes - you could see the proposed ball site from Mounds
I still think spark is mound spark sign by light tower is spelt that way
Some parks have baseball fields. Others Dont. Some parks have hills for sledding others dont, Some parks have parking lots others dont, Some partks have places to amuse tots others dont. Which parks fit with that?
Do you think wreck could be a reference to a dump/ compost dump? And what about trek? Train track or Amtrac?
I agree Dave
I guess that I've never noticed that...but a very good possability!
7's
Iam still hot on mounds anybody feel the same way?
river could be tide to
wreck- compost site i block away
I'm with you on that... it was my first inclination
yes I think it is still mounds
Same here earn
mounds has lots of things that fit all the clues
Time> could be era of time like they used the river for alot of things back in the day
agree earn
and let me add that there isent lots of digging to make clues fit at mounds
The only thing that I haven't been able to place is "Show that carnival hunters' pride"..Hunters pride isn't that usually a trophy of some sorts?
Or Era and Tide (soap)
does any one think that time to kill-dead(kill)end(time) street, dead end street?
Pride - Flag? Most parks have a flag and pole somewhere in the park
"Show that carnival hunters' pride" could mean the button people buy
I THOUGHT AWHILE AGO THEY (PP) SAID THAT BECAUSE THEY TORE UP THE INDIAN MOUNDS THAT THEY WOULD NOT HIDE IT AT MOUNDS ANY MORE.
I don't really think they would put it, in a park with a lake. who would want to be responsible for sending a thousand people out on thin ice
The word show also means to place 3rd in a show just a thought
every other park you seem to have to make them fit with it.. Still the wreck needs to find place there or some place what is wrecked thinking have to see wrecking yard or junk yard or some thing?
not sure on show thing..
Dave North Star steel yard is just a spitting way from mounds the melt down wrecked cars there just a thought anybody with me?
As for the "dead end" Mounds comes to a T at the end of Cherry St.
but I know every clue fits mounds every one but the last. last one maybe tot play area
DOES anyone think Newell, not fore sure but alot of specific things point to there, unlike any othe Parks????
Is there a 3rd street around mounds? anybody know this ?
Wreck:
1 : something cast up on the land by the sea especially after a shipwreck 2 a : SHIPWRECK b : the action of wrecking or fact or state of being wrecked : DESTRUCTION 3 a : a hulk or the ruins of a wrecked ship b : the broken remains of something wrecked or otherwise ruined c : something disabled or in a state of ruin or dilapidation; also : a person or animal of broken constitution, health, or spirits
good thought for t
third stree it right off of 94 it is close to mounds, it is just a little north of burns
How do you consider Mounds a park n rec?
At mounds park, the big light is called "airway" beacon wiht airway in quotes, any clues work for that???
3rd street turns into mounds....n satr steel pretty far from mounds
Im baaaaaaack
jiggamatt, I mentioned Newell yesterday as many things seem to fit the park. But, honestly, I wasn't and DON'T believe it's there. I think we need to stay close to downtown St. Paul. Just my opinion.
like that one some other that could be broken spirits
Does Harriet Island Park have a playground?
park n rec, evey sign on parks say division of parks and recreation, big part of that clue is the word wreck, anyone agree?
mounds is close to down town from the air.
Third street is over that way on the E. side
Stay away from Harriett. Can't be there.
Just on the other side of 94!?
MOUNDS IS OFF LIMITS TOO MANY PEOPLE TORE IT UP THE LAST TIME IT WAS THERE
n rec = north is rec center spark = south is the park ? ? just noodlin
there is parking and recreation there is doesn't have to be a park and rec center just a thought
yea I agree about newell, good place, but I think it is on the eastern side this year
MOUNDS IS OFF LIMITS TOO MANY PEOPLE TORE IT UP THE LAST TIME IT WAS THERE
I am not sure about staying close to down town---"Far and wide take your hunt"
think word Wrecked is junk yard or like broken spirit or some thing like that
I think Iam going to wait until next clue tonite to really start narrowing it down..
I feel that clue #5 is nothing more than stating that the park has on and off street parking. It'll probably be this years zinger clue.
WEREN, good thinking!!!!!!!
yea downtown in not to important to me dont think it has to be close..
Dave.. broken spirt could that maybe be like the dog pound?
Clue, I'm starting to think all 5 clues are zingers!
Treasure, why is that? I know they said the mounds were out of the picture but why harriet?
How come that's not in the rules froth, only Harriet is
I think mounds
Harriett Island is in the rules for being off limits.
I am thinking that the fifth clue could point to a park with a lot and streeet parking, but also the part will have an "amuse"ment park within.....
dont want any one to tare it up I would guess..
Nensea, Harriet was explicitly excluded in the official PP rules. Mounds is not officially off limits. Some folks just think it is.
Is Battle creek still on everyone's mind,
Has anyone ruled out Hidden Falls Regional Park?
Oh wait...duh. It IS in the rules (sigh). Dang.
Broken spirit....Caged animals.... like at the Zoo.....Could be really digging in too far tho
Ye BC is it i believe
well maybe but I think it is just the amusment is just poiting to fun in city park slides swings tenis courts joging and walking paths
BC is part of several people's list. But so is Linwood, Merriam, Como, Langford, etc.
IT'S NOT IN THE RULES BUT WHEN IT WAS THERE THE LAST TIME THERE WAS A BIG RUCKUS WITH THE NATIVE AM. AND THE CITY OF ST. PAUL SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HIDE IT THERE ANYMORE
Hidden Falls is near the Ford Motor Company and borders Mississippi Blvd...
If you want to think amuse is for amusement park, then i hate to say, but Como has a huse amusement park
dont see it all fittling in BC..
IT'S NOT IN THE RULES BUT WHEN IT WAS THERE THE LAST TIME THERE WAS A BIG RUCKUS WITH THE NATIVE AM. AND THE CITY OF ST. PAUL SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HIDE IT THERE ANYMORE
Thank you Frost and Treasure.
Definately think it's on the East side this year...BC and Mounds are close to each other which is why the clues fit both, just a matter of deciphering which one
yea, but that was the past, and it now says that th pp can terminate the hunt if it gets outta hand?
Thats what I am thinking jiggamatt
dont think it will be como this year again and tomany things out there I think just my thoughts..
Mounds (not Indian Mounds) does not have a playground only a ball field for 12 years and under.
can anyony give me directions to Crosby and Hidden Falls, tried driving there last night and ended up in a huge plant lot and thought i was going to get shot?
Dave, the thoughts on Como is the "repeating" of words although in different spellings. Therefore, repeat of same park as last year.
I thought it was como but had to get away from that.
B.C. is still one of my choices because trek= cc-sking
My guide says it's off 35E and Shephard Rd.
jigg you were aT crosby then or at least that what it feels like....crosby is on shepard road...so of hwy 5 1 block.....HF is on east river rd north of 5 about 1 mile
ok your rite on that gosh the next clue could have all of us out there..
On Yahoo it looks like you just take Mississippi River Blvd S...and it runs right into it...
say....does snyone know where the camo crue went last night??

park n rec does not have to mean a rec center, all parks are considered parks and recreatiom...
that was for Hidden Falls...
Never in the same place 2 years in a row
cant pick the clues to hard as you will dig to deap that has ben the worst thing to do..
Thanks, Some Nother Guy!!!!
Battle Creek's the place Upper Afton & Winthrop, parking lot and on street parking, tot lot,Longfellow Ave. too
Big time reaching here but are there any parks with streets or avenues named after The Monkeeys? Mikey, Dolenz, Peter, Tork, Michael, Nezmeth, Davey, Jones? Why you ask.....
Here goes...
'Hey, Hey' (we're the Monkeeys)
Sorry, brain in OT
first time for any thing.. thay used to hide it on street corner.
Never in the same place 2 years in a row
Never say never.
Thanx for the directions!
there is the animal control center of st paul at one end of Mcmurray Field.
lol
This would be the first time if they did... I think it is a possibility.
yawn...not too much noodling here today I see...everybody must be out digging??
hay hay it's in my back yard.
Notice, the med is in something that will blend in well, unnoticable to somebody walking by, white, earth tones....not something in a tide box or in an orange hat...too noticable
oh oh oh that was not it..
