I'm outta my mind!
I was working today so no scouting going on...except in my out of mind state.
(I'm not sure why they pay me to work this time of year.)
I really believe it's not Highland. Not because the clues couldn't fit, but
because it's too early to give the park away.
I think the high land thing is a clue to a river park on the bluffs. That
would leave Cherokee and Mounds.
Of course I've been wrong this early before. Hopefully tonight's clue will
help.

Wow, what a lot of posts today. Don't think I can even hope to slog through
them all. Right now I'm leaning towards Battle Creek Zone #1 but I have several
other places I consider in the running. Been getting a headache trying to figure
out the time and tide, fun and slide thing. And usually when that happens, it
means it's referring to the thing the treasure is hidden in and I never had a
shot at figuring it out anyway.

Hidden falls is on my list but it has moved down. It doesn't seem to me
there's any areas there that are clearly away from the woods and down a hill. As
for Hillcrest, I doubt it. It seems anything related to Hillcrest is a matter of
deriving the name itself from the clues. I don't think these clues are hinting
at a park name, especially a small one. I think they are more likely describing
aspects of the park or things that can be seen from nearby.

My opinion is that the person hiding it, if they even knew about the race
back when they wrote the clues wouldn't necessarily plan around such a thing.
After all, they put it at Como last year and there was a ton of Winter Carnival
activity.

The Pioneer Press and Cub Foods will host three special events for
participants in the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt who gather at the newspaper’s
downtown St. Paul headquarters to await publication of clues:
“Vulcan Night” – Saturday, Jan. 26: The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt heats up
with a visit from the Winter Carnival Vulcans. The hunt’s presenting sponsor –
Cub Foods – and Hormel, also a Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt sponsor, will
participate. KOOL 108 and the station’s KOOL KAT mascot will help host the event
and prize drawings.
“Tropical Night” – Sunday, Jan. 27: Colorful leis and Hawaiian shirts will
brighten the night in time for an appearance by the Winter Carnival Royal
Family. The WLOL party van will pull up to help host the event and prize
giveaways.
“Movie Night” – Tuesday, Jan. 29: The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt goes
Hollywood with Marcus Theatres and K102. Treasure hunters can watch movie
trailers, munch popcorn and win theater tickets, posters and other prizes. K102
will sponsor an appearance by the Rodeo Renegades danceline and a drawing for
rodeo tickets.
Time: All events will be held from 11 p.m. until midnight. Events will take
place, as scheduled, unless the medallion has been found. Call the Treasure Hunt

I could see it being Phalen in the sense that it has lots of hills, but most
I believe are on the Golf course. So you'd really be killing time checking all
those out when you could just use your brain and know it's not on the golf
course and you should just check near the one or two hills that are actually in
the park.

At the edge of Phalen Rec Center there is a street sign that reads "Sherwood
Forest" (corner of Sherwood and Forest). I keep waiting for that to make it into
a clue. Which brings up another possibility of Phalen in that Forest street runs
into it. If you go as far from that as you can, I believe that's the part of the
park with the hill.
As for Highland. it seems every year up through at least clue 5 or 6 there's
always a significant contingent of people saying it's in Highland. Must be
something generic about that place that it always seems to fit all the clues.

10 ways to get in shape for the Medallion Hunt!
1. Whenever a snow emergency is declared, follow the snowplows around and
completely dig out all the cars they plow in.
2. As a big storm is about to hit, stand on your front steps with your back
to the yard. Toss your car keys over your shoulder. Go back inside and then go
find them the next day.
3. Read up on Occam's Razor (All else being equal, the simplest solution
tends to be the correct one).
4. Do every word jumble, crossword puzzle, and search-a-word you can get your
hands on.
5. Make a list of all the things you can do with $10,000.
6. Turn off the heat in your home for 16 hours a day.
7. Only sleep three hours a night.
8. Move all the snow from your back yard to your front yard.
9. Spend all night on the Internet with total strangers discussing who killed
JFK.
10. Commit the Cooler Crew and Treasure Hunter's Guide Websites to memory.

It's only clue 3. I don't think you're going to find throngs of diggers yet.
Even if people have their favorites, it's unlikely many of them will expend the
energy at this point on what is likely to not be anything more than a hunch. And
if you think you know exactly where it is, you're probably guilty of "circular
thinking" (inside joke).

Some people come here with little to contribute so their only way to get
attention is to make a nuisance of themselves. Since their goal is not to be
liked, but rather to get attention, you can't stop them with insults or
reprimands. All you can do is deny them what they came for and ignore them. To
say your posts aren't even worth the effort of making a comment ends up being a
stronger statement than anything you could say with actual words most times.

going to hills can be anything. Hidden, Highland, BC, Linwood,Phalen, Newell,

anywhere.
