apparently, scribe and bob, from what i've heard the dsl circuit on your

for it. which means that you can't change isps without msn returning control of

Ares: Thanks. E-mail me whatever info you have. For the rest of you; I'm
about 10 postings behind each time I try to post. For me, clues 1 and 2 just say
definitely that the Med is in a hilly St. Paul Park. "Far and wide" in the first
clue had me noodlin' that it was in a wide (as opposed to narrow) park far from
the normal throngs of people. Such as Battle Creek, at the far eastern edge of
St.Paul. "Knit your brows" = furrow your brows which made me think of a plowed
field such as a farm (Crosby Farm Park) would have. "Time to kill" could be a
visible clock (tower) that has stopped, or a stopwatch used to "kill" time when
timing a race of sorts (track or x-country skiing). I'll sign off now, as I
can't keep up with you all. Good Luck!

I've been at Hidden Falls at night. It does get pretty dark, but they have
hidden it there twice before, once just back in 1993, so it's certainly not
impossible it could be there. Last year I also drove through there at night and
the gates were open, although that was before 10pm. But I suspect if there are
hunters in the park, they won't bother locking the gate.

As for clue #2, my take is that it's in a park with several hills, but if you
don't want to have to climb them all, you'll have to figure out the right one.
And it does sound like you'll have to climb it because they imply using your
legs will be fun.

The locking of the gate is not done by the clue writer or anyone who knows
where the medallion is. It's done by the parks dept and is probably entirely a
function of whether or not they see a lot of hunters there.
The same is true for Harriet Island. I'm sure it wasn't the clue writer's
idea to exclude it in the rules. That most likely came from the city itself and
someone who had no idea if the treasure would be there or not, or what the clues
might say, but wanted to be positive that the park was left alone. So I don't
think we can really read anything into that.

I don't think having time to kill means much of anything beyond taking the
slow approach and searching every hill instead of using your brain to figure out
the right one, plus the fact that kill rhymes with hill.

I know this was discussed earlier today already but I found it interesting to
discover that brow also means the peak of a hill or the edge of something steep
and knit can also mean to link something to. So to knit your brow could
alternatively mean to link to the steep peek of a hill.
Regalman - 08:19pm Jan 21, 2002 CST (#10199

Did anyone else take last nights clue as the opposite? If you tire your legs,
rack your brain etc, you better have time to kill, and it is saying it is not
what the clue says? Someone had mentioned that last night, and haven't heard
much of it since.

I thought about the clue having the opposite meaning, saying to not go to any
hills. But it's pretty much a given that you need to use your brain for the
hunt, and in the same sentence they tell you to use your brain they also say to
use your legs, so I would have to logically conclude that you're meant to use
both. So I'm thinking they want you to climb the hill.

Say Allison, funny you should bring that up about "brow", I've been
contemplating about Hillcrest in the Highland area, that "brow" comment for
"peak of a hill" a.k.a CREST...just supports the fact. Hill is obvious and there
is a library on the property to "Work your brain" and a somehwat large hill
leading up to the library to "work you legs"??? Do you read anything into
this...I know it's still very early to narrow down parks? But am I sane to have
this at the top of my list right now? Especially since there is only 2 clues out
and I can't fathom that they would narrow it down so simply already. What do you
think?

Then there's the minimalist explanation that knitting your brow and using
your brain just refers to the general process of figuring out the clues and that
having time to kill just means having time to participate in the hunt at all.

Alison, my thought, if you take off the first phrase, and read the rest
sarcastically, it would be the opp. If the writer was sarcastically saying work
your brain, your legs, it would be fun if you had the time to kill, saying it's
a waste. Bottom line, still too early, but I do like Terry's connection to a
peak thing with knit/brow. who knows!!

I was thinking about Hillcrest too as if this clue was trying to actually
name a park, that would probably have to be the one. But two things work against
that. 1) It would be highly unusual for them to allude to the name of the park
so early, particularly a small park. 2) It would also be highly uncharacteristic
of them to use even a part of the name directly in the clue (hill). I think if
they meant to refer to hillcrest, they would have used an alternate word for
hill as well as crest.

Let me introduce myself to the cooler gang. I'm the feared Night Digger. I
carry a family curse that torments me each year at this time. My mother and her
sister had the medallion in hand about twenty years ago. It had been badly
burned, being near a fire pit. They discarded it and it turned out that the
medallion had been blacken with tar and they had it. I think they didn't look
close enough. It was near Midnight and the light was bad. They have never
recovered from the incident and quit looking. I was a little boy and 20 years
later I am force to walk the parks at night looking for it. I was scared for
life emotionally. I work digging graves during the day and walk the parks at
Midnight with chains of torment in search of the medallion. The only thing on
earth that will release me from my family curse.
