Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Hey Marley, Incredible job your doing w/the photo stuff, there might even be a career in it for ya. Occasionally the first clue has a little meat in it, usually a stretch, eg, the start of something big, missisippi, hidden falls. No golfing, conway. One take on spark may be the beacon at mounds. A light spins, observed from most anywhere you get a light burst, seen far and wide...spark. OK OK I'm just building a case for the nuthouse hall of fame.

OK, here's my take...

Clue 2 is telling us that it's buried up on top of a hill. "knit your brow" is an expression for squinting (like if you were standing below a hill looking up to the top with the sun in your eyes)

The clue says "you may knit your brows on this one OR trek up and down every hill"

Then it refers to using your legs...doing some climbing.

Just a thought.

Good Morning!

To knit one's brows would be to be deep in thought (work your brain)

or

trek up and down every hill (work your legs)

If you have some time to kill

I'm thinking the medallion is to be found on fairly flat ground, perhaps near, or surrounded by hills. McMurray Field is one such place, but there are others. For example, Cherokee has a sliding hill, but much of that park is more flat.

Terry - good ideas.

The only reason i think it is up high is that we didn't even have snow until a couple of weeks ago. They probably wouldn't place it on bare ground.

I think trek up hills and use your legs are references to climbing sledding hills/ski hills...etc.

I believe it went down during that snowstorm a couple weeks ago and is on the ground.

The year it was at the Capital Mall, early on there was much less snow than this...and the earmuffs were on the ground. It was just later that week when we got heavy snows that it was covered up more.

the word "one" in clue 2 is so confusing.

It could be referring to the clue "knit your brows on this one"

OR

It could be a hill among many hills "knit your brow (on a specific hill?) or just trek up and down all of them"

I haven't really considered the Capital Mall this year yet - unless the deep in thought and hills would refer to the legislature - and I don't want to go there!

The only thing that would remotely connect to the work at the Cathedral would be if you considered spark and the renovating work to be connected somehow.

"work your brain, your legs, it will be fun"

it's such a strange sentance. I almost think it has to be referring to a library/school for "brain", a track/b-ball court, etc. for "legs" and a playground or something like that for "fun"

Otherwise what will be fun??? walking up and down hills? knitting your brows??

This clue is just written very wierd.

Rushmore - 02:02am Jan 21, 2002 CST (#9227 of 9433) What if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

As for my thoughts,

I think the med will be some place without a lot of hills. "just trek up and down every hill - Work your brain, your legs, it will be fun, - If you have some time to kill" From these lines it seems to me that they are saying if you don't work your brain, you will trek up and down every hill, in turn killing (wasting time)doing this, when you should be on flat land. And walking through the hilly parks would be as effective as knitting (an activity to waste time) Just my thoughts.

What do you think of this?

unless they're telling us that the hills that you can trek up and down are nearby, but like at conway, stay away from them cuz the pucks on the other side of the park. your fun comes from being in the right park, even in the right location, but you'd be wasting your time on the hill.

Like I've said before, if he's within a shovel's distance away from me, I will crack my shovel over his empty head. Maybe we should dress up - just to entice him.

There sure has been a lot of good noodling going on in here.. I really like the idea of staying on top of the hill... I am pulling away from Capitol Hill I don't think that is a park.

I keep wondering about the HI exclusion. My guess is that the clues that follow will reference the river and the clue writer wanted to get it out in the open that HI will NOT be the place....therefore, based on this hunch, the treasure will be at a park that is near the river.

I would again like to state that the first clue is extremely poorly written. especially the second and third lines

"Let the medallion search in you light a spark

Far and wide take your hunt, have no fear"

These lines make some grammatical sense when read alone, but when read together they don't flow very well.

I also noticed that if you take the last word from each of the four lines it reads Here Spark Fear Park.

it was just a thought, randy, since harriet island was explicitly excluded from the rules. i guess the theory is that the clues will point to it and they don't want us digging on it.

Of course the rules also keep us out of Como Zoo so in theory, the clues could lead us back to Como Park and there needed to be explicit direction to stay out of the Zoo area.

Riv - When I was out scoping the capitol last week - I was tempted to look under, on top of, and into things, however, I was afraid I may find the medallion and ruin it for everyone - so I refrained and didn't look into things. Now that the clues are out though, it's free game, but I would HATE it if someone found it this early while out scoping.

ter, you're going to explicitly exclude it in the rules because you're going to point to someplace (or someplaces?) with similar characteristics. but you don't want to have hunters digging on h.i., and at the same time you don't want to be sufficiently explicit as to which park its actually in.
