Looks like a good clue analysis from My Dalliance. The only thing I wonder
though is, what does it actually tell us? If there are any clear patterns, I'm
sure the clue writer will make a point of breaking them.

And to top off all the noodling - we might have a different clue writer this
year.
I really don't see much in the way of a pattern anyways. There seldom is. The
only things that seem certain is the first clue will state Ramsey County or city
limits and to stay off golf courses. Usually one of the early clues tells us
what it's in if you're clever enough to figure that out and the very last clues
narrow the hunt within the park that gets identified about midway through.

Here's something interesting to think about. You can't actually feel the cold
air. The only thing you can really feel is your own skin, because that is as far
as your nerves go. So when you step outside and it feels like it's below zero
out, you're not really feeling sub-zero air. You're really only feeling your
skin and how it's temperature has dropped below what it normally is. Once your
skin gets to 32 degrees, it would freeze and I doubt you'd still feel anything
at that point. Consequently, we can never really know what anything colder than
32 degrees genuinely feels like. All we can really notice is how quickly it
cools our skin below it's usual temperatures.

I was looking at the cooler crew site and noticed that the Medallion has only
been in Hidden Falls twice so far, once in 1954 and once in 1993. That's a gap
of 39 years! And Hidden Falls is probably close in size to Phalen. So maybe the
fact it hasn't been in Phalen for almost 20 years doesn't really mean anything?

Well there's always the thought that it hasn't been in Phalen for so long
because it will never be in Phalen again, but I'm starting to doubt that
thinking. The park that Maplewood got so mad about was a Maplewood park I
believe whereas any part of Phalen that goes into Maplewood is part of a
regional park and thus not really Maplewood's concern. Same thing with Battle
Creek and it was there not too long ago.

Well I'm about to go home. And then I'll be heading out tonight with my
singles club. They're celebrating my birthday tonight since it's someone else's
birthday as well (mine isn't really until Monday). I suppose I may be on late
tonight for a bit, and possibly tomorrow a bit, but otherwise see everyone
tomorrow night at McGovern's.

side of the coin - no pun... LOL!!! - more 'Heads to muddle up the clues, too.

The Medallion's a small pale blue/tourquisey disk of lucite, or some kind'a
plastic like that. Ittiz opaque. About 2" around, and about 1" thick.

Not a prob, and don't worry about it Walrus!
Well, check out www.coolercrew.com
That's a good place to start for a HUGE history on The Hunt. All the clues
from all past Hunts are even there.
Hang out here, with us Coolerheads, The Cooler Crew. When not out digging (or
sleeping one-two hours...) we're here eating and noodling clues.
You'll get to know folks here and if you want to maybe hunt with some, they
may be open to it.
Then just go to the park you think The Med's hidden in; find the spot that
seems to be indicated from the clues, and then dig!
Don't destroy tho. Like don't dig to China. The Medallion will NOT be buried
under ground. It will be above ground, either just lying on it, or buried in
*snow*.

Ian, I like a LOT of music from the olden days! LOL!
MY car is not packed. Our house is in chaos, and since "Dad" and his Dad
started to "clean" the garage a couple weeks back, that might even be worse! I'm
probably going to wait for the inspiration to hit me, and then go out there
throwing stuff and cussing cause I can't find the implement I'm looking for at
midnight!

very very nice for the fingers and toes. They last actually about 5 hours

This is my first year for them, Mom. So I don't know yet. But I'm thinking
ittiz better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...
I saw the sox that Trent got last year... They come with batteries and keep
your feet warm... But, they were like $15.00, even on sale, and then with all
the batteries I imagine you'd go thru!
I couldn't find Sorel liners (Fleet Farm... WHY have I been saying Menard's?
SHEESH! I'm really tired, I guess that's why.) only had one pair left - a man's
Size 13! And they were still really xpensive. So, I figured with my old liners,
these funky SCUBA-like sox and regular sox, my feet *should* be warm...
If not, then I find some Sorel liners I guess.

get away from the news. I don't need new news. I don't need gnu news. I don't
need knew news.
I haven't switched from QWEST and tomorrow is the 'forced' switch day.

Ian - that park is rather long and narrow...more like Cherokee sort
of...except it's down at water level instead of up on the bluff. Most is open.
There's one big shelter on the north side of the park.

from the link in the email....
Qwest.net and MSN have decided to give customers more time to voluntarily
migrate to MSN. The start of the automatic migration process has been moved
back, this process will now start during the month of March 2002.
I *was* very happy with Qwest. But I have no desire to be an MSN customer,
especially by force. We did the cable modem thing and I have no regrets.

I like the broadband. We got email today about how everyone's email with them
is going to change...but they are going to have the ability to get your mail on
the web and 6 mail boxes...and I think 6 different websites.
