Even' Scribe.
oh great scribe is here :)
The ground is a sureal white......
I still say it will all melt before next week......
::sigh::
Please try to contain the excitement my dear Ares!
excitement contained. lol!
actually any snow that accumulates tonote and tomorrow may actually be around next weekend. considering the highs are s'pposed to be in the 20s all week.
Hardly snowing here. I doubt if it will be hidden tonite. Too little snow.
If pitched out, would make those sct-sct-sct-sct kind'a skidding marks that things make in snow, you know what I mean? And anybuddy would be able to tell that whatever made those marks was put down/pitched/whatever since this little snow fall.
Green- it isnt going to be burried in the snow most likely. It will probably be in a dirt clumb or something like that.
Just another reason for it not to be hid tonite. A brown dirt clump on *top* o'this little bit o'snow? Dead give away it was placed recently.
And... by the way, all...
Frost Lake Rec center is in "the city"....
I think that it is already hidden. Probably last night sometime...
Green - does jake just need a recovery disk or the whole CD?
I hid it during the first little pasting...
Has anyone taken a poll over how crappy the last few clues were last year? Or does it matter how weak the correlation was?
Somebody call Mulder, it's a Rex file...
Snow Mommy, I'm not sure. I *think* he's on his way to get a CD - don't know what kind - that will fix things.
I'm sure if it doesn't work, I'll hear from him again...
Can I get bock with you, Snow Mommy?
Is he gong to by one? Does anyone know what the name of the new street that is going to go from 35-E (South of Maryland) to Phalen? I thought it was Phalen Blvd but I not sure.
phalen blvd is correct, snow mommy.
Yes Green, let me know I might be able to help. I m by Phalen in case you do need it.
Ares Do you know when that's going to be done?
Where exactly *IS* Phalen Blvd. going to be? Does it already exist and will be renamed? Or are they making a new street?
as far as i know, its completion is several years off.
I guess it goes down some ld railroad tracks and by the old breweries MAYBE. It's mostly or all new construction.
Snow Mommy, he was going to borrow a CD, but he's not sure if it will work. So, he still may need assistance.
new street. running from 35e & penn ave. running to the general area of the vento trail up toward prosperity ave and johnson pkwy. roughly.
I'm going to toddle away for awhile. The Brown would like to play a little Boggle.
Hope to be bock later. But if not, SCDs to each of you!
Okay, okay - I think I remember *something* about it now. They recently took down an old grain elevator silo where it's going, if I'm right. Near the new Arcade YMCA/Johnson elementary.
just south of it, mom.
Sounds like it will run right on top of, or parallel with the Vento trail...
Mom...
Hang on, I'm looking.
This is what I found about it. http://www.stpaul.gov/depts/ped/pci/pci.html
I'm not gong anywhere
DANG IT.
I *just* read about a grain silo seen from one o'the parks. Am wondering if the one torn down was that one.
But can I find the reference to it??? NNNNOOOOOOO!
That link seems to have very old information on it.
Mom, that grain elevator you were talking about? Is it near Lewis Park? And did the top have a staggered edge, like it was a castle?
swede hollow, green?
I don't know. Mom??? You still here?
The description in Steve's book about Lewis Park talks about this old grain silo. If ittiz the one that Mom says was taken down so this road could be made, I want to change/correct/update my book.
it was the grain elevator at the stroh's brewery that was taken down for phalen boulevard.
scd's to all, talk at ya tomarrow
I don't know where Lewis park is, lest I could answer....
The grain elevator that came down was close to Arcade and Sims. A little bit South and West from there, I suppose.
I think it was just west and maybe a bit north of Swees Hollow.
Good Evening!
I'm thinking the old grain elevator taken down for that road probably is not the one seen from Lewis Park - but I could be wrong. I would think I'd notice that as I go through that area fairly often...though not so much lately.
Lewis Park is just a block west of Rice Street near the area of the Capitol.
That's a bit too west then, is it not?
It also says that this grain elevator is a viw to the south from Lewis Park.
So, that wouldn't be rite, would it?
Okay - try this: http://www.daytonsbluff.org/HammGrainElevator.html
thank you for those pics, mom!
I'd very much doubt you could see THAT grain elevator from Lewis Park.
You're welcome - the Mpeg video is pretty cool, too!
Lewis Park is north of the NSP plant on Rice. That also makes it north of the railroad tracks in the North End area of the city.
The new Phalen Blvd. starting at 35E and Pennsylvania (just south of the tracks) and heading mostly east wouldn't share the view probably of the same grain elevator.
Just an intresting little thing...My Dad is an egineer, he works on the tracks that go right under payne, arcade. He said they posted a notice to watch for extra people traffic from 1/20/02-2/4/02. THIS MEANS NOTHING TO WHERE IT WILL BE HIDDEN, but it shows the hunt is getting more attention!
Thanks, Mom! I bet ittiz the one you *could* have seen from Swede Hollow, tho! I'll check it later.
Hay, Ter! How's the driving out there? We had sleet here before the snow...
Well, thanks, guys! I'm gonna let The Brown play some Boggle. Hope to be on later if I don't snooze off!
SCDs to you all!
green i know its the one that could have been seen from swede hollow. guarantee it.
Driving is typical of a snowfall. We didn't have far to go so it's okay.
SCD's Green
Thanks, Ter. Thanks, Ares. Gonna update my Steve book!
Later!
The last I heard, they weren't sure where the Phalen Corridor was going to run. 3M own some of the land they originally wanted, and 3M ain't willing to part with it. So, it may be rerouted further north. In which case, it would be directly south of my house. T'would be cool.
East side snow report: About 1/2 inch on the ground, and it's snowing as we speak. The PPress today said chances of snow all week! Gonna go watch the news quick. bbl
for anyone updating books, hayden heights rec center was redone last summer, the playground is all new and bigger and I think they may have redone the tennis court too.
Hi all!
Bye all!
Thanks Ares :-)
Glad to see some fellow East siders on the board! I've got to get under the blankets here and dream of snow to dig through.
The driving wasn't SO bad here a little bit ago, but there definitely were some slick spots. The sanding trucks were out though, so hopefully tomorrow morning will be uneventful.
Goodnight and SCD's!
thanks for what, thx?
People who live in glass houses....
ahh. like that, huh? i don't remember where i first saw it at, but it kinda stuck with me and sounds a lot less clichéd than ...shouldn't throw stones.
I've seen it before too, you just reminded me of it.
Too many posts today. Just hit the recent button tonight. That post of yours was the first post I saw when I logged on.
To stay on topic. Looks like we got some snow today.
To stay on topic. Looks like we got some snow today.
got it, it melted away and now we got some more. imagine that.
Goodnight and SCDs, Mom!
OK, Belinda Jensen (editor's note: Yummy) sez we should have 3-4 total inches by noon tommorow. Temps will be colder this week, with possible light snow thurs and fri. Sounds like we may need shovels after all.
One thing to note also. I was out driving around today and drove past Arlington/Arkwright park. On several of the entrances there were big signs posted that read "Keep off New Turf. Violators will be prosecuted." I'm guessing if they have new turf they don't want 1000 folks wandering around on, it won't be hidden there.
On the other hand, maybe it's already hidden there, and the signs are to keep us out 'till next week? On that paranoid note, goodnight!
Ares, I saw a few days ago you and scribe were talking about quitting smoking. Let her know that I used Zyban and it worked really, realy well. I wish her all the luck!
hey guys, first time on here since last year, good to be back and looking forward to talking about the hunt this year!!!!
actually it was thx and scribe who were quitting (they're the married ones here). my personal bad habit is my fingernails :) that and caffeine, but i have no intention of trying to give that up!
Belinda Jensen (editor's note: Yummy)
and hearts were broken all across the twin cities years ago when they said she was getting married. :)
welcome back, jiggamatt. hmm. were you going by some other name last year? name doesn't sound familiar.
yea i had a different name but i forgot what it was so I just registared again
But I am leaving, so excited that I will finally find the One and only!!! Talk to all very soon
Jake has a copy of the Windows ME disk and is heading home.
...turns out we's neighbors...6 blocks away.
Showed him all my Carnival "valuables" and gave him the coveted 1st PPMCC button.
Looks like Jake will soon have his machine operating again.
Also looks like tonight may be the best night to put that prize down in some park/public ground. The snow depth is beginning to seem more significant (compared to nothing earlier).
Heading for the sheets to dream of white coated blue medallions resting comfortably in the soft snow just waiting for me to go pick it up.
Goodnight and SCDs!!
I bet he had a good time with that, Ian!
Oh yeah...
Goodnight X 2! See yaz all tomorrow.

The Messiah is back for yet another night of chats, but I can't chat too long. I have a very busy schedule ahead of me. So I start with this, "My teachings show the way of life, yet the only way to get ahead in life is of whom you know. If you know the right people, you will get far, if you don't, I'll show you what life is like on the streets." - Quote The Messiah, Never More!
And since everyone left I leave you with this, "If you think you are fooling me, you are wrong. If you lie, tell the truth. If you steal, give something to the poor. If you have pre marital sex, use a condom. If you don't believe in me, ignore what I have just said." - Quote The Messiah, NeverMore!
Jesus Christ! Bin Laden isn't the only one that thinks he is God.
Hi everyone, thanks for offering to help with my computer woes.... at least I got my modem working! Anyways, My screen is black and white. I can live with that until the hunt is over! Thanks again coolerheads!
Jake
I had a thought occur to me today. Some people were talking about where the medallion is hidden could be influenced by the fact we've had warm temperatures and they may avoid putting it near water. I thought of a piece of evidence to the contrary.
In 1999, Clue 11 I think it was said to look for two frozen places/planes of equal size in reference to the hockey rinks at Conway. But as many of us noticed, the rinks at Conway were in fact not at all equal in size. One was substantially larger than the other. Yet, on the official map of Conway (I forgot where I saw it) the hockey rinks were drawn on the map as if they were identical and side by side. This leads me to believe that the cluewriter had based this clue based on looking at the map instead of the park itself, quite possibly because they were doing the whole thing before the rinks were set up. Even if it's not cold enough to use them, I imagine the rinks are at least set up by November or December. At that point it would be hard to say if the lakes would be frozen in January or not.
Ergo, I don't think they would avoid a park with a body of water because of the thin ice danger. I don't think they could know about it when all this is decided and I imagine once a spot is chosen, they'd be reluctant to pick a new spot and start over. So I don't think that will be a concern. Besides, who is really going to start digging up a lake to try and find it?
back in business Jake?
Ok, I'm off to work.
As Rod Stewart used to say...
"Tonight's the night...."
Just thought I'd check in for the night, missed everyone today
We'll get to work on those bumper stickers, thanks for the good ideas. Something simple, but noticable sounds good. We're on it...
Ares- I do have my own acct, but never use it. Is this easier for ya?
Well, looks like Ian's taken care of the "amenities",
Snow-filled dreams for all!
Looking out the window, what do I see? Snow covered ground or grass? Yes!!!! - I finally see snow covered ground - thankfully, just in time for the hunt!!
Let's hope that it stays and that we get more. If we get three inches of snow and nothing more, my prediction of 2 5/8" of snow by midnight of the 20th may come true!
morning cooler heads! 5 more days! are we all ready?! glad your back on jake!
Morning! I wandered through 2-3 inches this morning on the east side, and it was snowing as I went. Things are looking up.
marly, every time I try to click on hayden heights for bigger picture it won't come up.says this page can not be found.
ya frosti, lot's over here too. I almost returned my shovel for a rake, good thing I didn't!
well, off to work! have a good day everyone.
kal, i was just curious is all.
mornin' 'heads.
Good Morning Everyone! Oh what a wonderful snow-covered morning!
marly, every time I try to click on hayden heights for bigger picture it won't come up.says this page can not be found.-ll
I will fix this now!
Morin all!
Look mom whats that white stuff?
don't get me started on the white stuff. yep i love it. but i absolutely hate people who can't remember how to drive on it. the guy in the ditch at 694 and 35e this morning, for instance. drive safely out there if you haven't yet done so.
Good Morning!
How many days are we excited to hear the radio announcer tell us there's 3 to 5 inches of new snow? Not often....but today that's different. Bet that medallion went down during the overnight hours.
Have a great snow filled day everyone!
I'm almost always excited when there's new snow on the ground. That's why I couldn't move to a warm climate, I'd miss it too much.
Good Morning Everyone!! Glad to hear that everyone is liking the snow on the ground, I sure am. Except for the traffic that comes along with it!
Morning Swifty!
Morning all.
morning swift, thx, frosti. slow morning. people must be snow'd in
I am really glad to hear that everyone is excited about the snow. Everyone seemed a little down inthe dumps last week, due to "NO" snow!!! But not anymore!?!
nope. swift. not anymore. here's to hoping for more snow. but not till after this afternoon's rush hour.
I was sort of hoping for no snow for the hunt. Thought it would be different is all.
Has anyone heard if we are supposed to get more snow this week? Also, are the temps going to stay cold enough for the snow to stay?
I was sort of hoping for no snow for the hunt. Thought it would be different is all.
heathen! blasphemer! be gone with you. and make sure your wife knows about your sins. lol.
Highs in the 20's all week.
More snow on Thur, Fri.
not a lot more snow in the current forecasts, rush, but it should be a bit colder. we might have some snow for the hunt.
Has anyone heard if we are supposed to get more snow this week? Also, are the temps going to stay cold enough for the snow to stay?
Depends on who you ask. :-)

of course predicting the weather a week in advance is like trying to predict where the med's gonna be. here's my sure-fire weather-prediction method:
to find todays forecast: open window. put head outside window.
to find tomorrow's forecast: wait until tomorrow. open window. put head outside window.
of course if its cold outside you may want to be gentle on your heat bill and close that window, but its a guaranteed method.
Thanks fellas! I would've checked myself, however, this computer at this school is EXTREMELY slow and it continually loses contact with the server.
Rush's sure fire plan to tell Ares that it is going to snow. 1)Climb onto Ares' roof, 2)wait for him to open his window and stick his head out. 3)When he does - drop a snowball on his head. 4)Laugh 5) Carefully climb down and run.
Visualize Whirled Peas
no thanks! d'oh. too late.

ares' sure fire plan to watch rush make a fool of himself. 1) wait for rush to climb the roof. 2) watch rush slip on the ice. 3) laugh as i call the paramedics to take rush to the hospital :)
Hello all... How was everyones Weekend? I am glad to see the snow... You just can't have a hunt with no snow.. :-)
Rush's pre-plan as to avoid making a fool of himself. 1) Buy a harness 2) buy some rope and carabiners. 3) Buy cramp-ons 4) Climb the roof when Ares isn't home. (Insert cheesy sounding evil-laugh here)I think I've got you now!! Ha-ha.
Marning, All!
Like THX, I was hoping... Well, snow's otay, but I wish it wouldn't bring the cold temps with it. That's me. A wuss.
The Brown says we got four inches and there's five in St. Paul.
The Brown one and I are battling, I don't know... Don't know if colds or if ittiz due to the destruction called "redoing an old house." I'm hoping things improve at least by this Friday. Else I'll not be able to get up and out to hunt!
Allison, thanks for the "Ergo." When someone carries a logical thought to it's conclusion, then I can get it.
Glad you've got things working better, Jakey. Thanks much, Ian. That was really nice o'you.
WE HAVE SNOW, WE HAVE SNOW, WE HAVE SNOW,.....
WE MUST HUNT, WE MUST HUNT, WE MUST HUNT,...
Morin Greennnnn!
You better get better:-)
Already having my yearly dream "I found the medallion". But, my dreams have yet to come true.
My morning has already been crazy. Went to a 9 AM doc appointment just to be told it's not until 3 PM. What a way to start a Monday. Oh, well.... we have snow!!!!
Don't know if colds or if ittiz due to the destruction called "redoing an old house."
probably a little of both. but i've learned that benadryl is my friend. hope you get well.
Queen, I don't "feel" sick, but just have this head o'stuff that keeps draining and has given me really bad lung congestion. Like no fever or anything, but I cannot get up once I've fallen asleep! As long as I keep going - I'm fine. But cannot wake up in the mornings. And the sleeping's not been all that great... Last nite was the first nite in about one or two weeks where I actually got a good nite's rest...
As did The Brown. But *he's* been having first sweats, then chills. But no fever...
I really think all the 125 +/- year-old dust that's flying around here is bothering us and what's making us "sick" is the infection we're getting in our lungs from the yucky stuff dripping down and sitting there.
He thinks ittiz a cold.
But, I've no "MD" behind my name, so what do I know?
Well, will be to'ing and fro'ing. No rest for the wicked...
Ares, Beneydril and I are NOT friends!!! If I just sniff the bubble wrap it comes in, I'm passed out for a week!
I'm gonna get some Vitamin C/zinc stuff today (yummy, chewy tablets!) and maybe check out some over-the-counter dryer-uppers.
Green: I tend to go for Day-Quil - nondrowsey - and that seems to help. Woke up with a cold Friday AM. It really eases the suffering so that I can tend to whatever I need to do. Of course, I am also doing the Vit. C thing.
Ares, Beneydril and I are NOT friends!!! If I just sniff the bubble wrap it comes in, I'm passed out for a week!
ouch. sometimes i wish it'd do that to me :) that's ok. i don't have an md behind my name either so i wasnt' dispensing medical advice.
mornin everyone
Hey, Ares!! How was your weekend? Are you happy to see the snow?
Good morning, Shoveler! Are your shovels all ready?
oh yeah. incredibly happy. bring on the winter sports!
I know I'm way off topic...
Ares, Anybuddy... You ever work on a old house? I don't think ittiz so much the old dust from centuries ago, but the *new* paneling, *new* plastic-like baseboards, *new* paneling seam strips, and the *new* paneling glue-stuff that comes in a tube and looks like caulk, that's going in the kitchen. The dust from all the sawing is quite a bit... And you know how they say that all that stuffs got chemicals and formaldyde and junque...
But Pickles and The Kids are fine... And, I *think* things seemed to get a titch better being oot and aboot yesterday...
I don't know. Never mind.
Know what its like to remodel, can definately make you feel sick. Hope you feel better soon! Getting out and getting fresh air sure seems help.
MARLEY and Kal
yes my shovels are ready, my good friend the Blue Rajah has his silverware all polished, and the Bowler has her skull ball ready to roll as well.
yep. my brother's spent the last 9 or 10 months remodeling the house he bought in april. built in 1908 or so. ripped it down completely to the studs. and i must say it was good experience for me too. lost a bit of excess weight in the process. plastic dust. very bad. it was a lot more fun doing the demolition though as compared to replacing the old stuff.
Green, sorry to hear your not feeling well. I was sick with a cold last year during the hunt and it was no fun.
Also, last winter Scribe & I redid our bathroom. I gave myself a major sinus infection from too much dust. I should have worn a mask but figured I'd be ok because it was such a small room.........I was wrong.
:-)
Finally! the snow comes. No doubt it was placed last night, it's just sitting out there now, waiting for someone to pick it up
Just think, next week at this time, we will have the first two clues out, and after the nonsense "in a public park in st. paul" 1st clue, we can really start going
If we don't get more snow by next week Wednesday in order to help in the ground coverage, my fear is another Newell hunt. Will be very disappointed if that happens.
Temps are suppose to stay cool which means no melting should happen. That's a plus. However, more snow would help.
TD Ihope you are wrong in that prediction.. I really dislike NeWell.....
I can't imagine that it's hidden yet. I'd be concerned that it may be found before the hunt begins. Very sad day in the cooler if that should happen.
when thats happened in the past they have re-hidden it, im sure the PP has a backup plan or two in place
if they didn't hide it by now, there would be tracks and a hole dug up where it is hidden.
Yes, I know it's been found prior to the hunt, but it still puts a damper in the hunt. PP would have to have a backup just because there is always a chance if it is hidden prior to the start of the hunt of it being found. I was told by PP that they didn't have to hide in before the hunt. So only the hiders know when they hid it.
I'm sure whoever hides it is getting a kick out of reading everybody's theories on it.
Wouldn't that be an entertaining position to be in?
I have to say YES to that thought as well. I think I'd enjoy that position and would go the park just for entertainment.
You raise an interesting question JT. I wonder if the employees of the PP, especially those closely affiliated with the hunt, read our posts and take into consideration the various theories presented here.
Joe!!
Rushmore, if they don't, they should.
I think the ultimate would be if they mentioned the cooler crew, directly or indirectly, in one of the clues. (Hint, HINT)
I think the ultimate would be if they mentioned the cooler crew, directly or indirectly, in one of the clues. (Hint, HINT)
Mention who?
:-)
Yeah, who?
What?
How would the PP cover their tracks if they wait to hide it, wouldn't the spot be a little obvious?
They could make a whole bunch of other tracks in the area, to sort of disguise the area. That's my theory, anyway.
were i the hider, i'd read 'em just for the entertainment value.
I hope we get far into the clues, double digits at least. Makes it more fun for everyone.
well we got enough snow for a snow emergency. that's a start!
keep it coming. looks like with temps staying in the 20's all week, and a chance for snow later in the week too, it's all here to stay, and maybe more of it to come
Snow emergency? In St Paul?
in st. paul, frosti.
Hmmm. Been so long, I can't remember if I'm supposed to move my car or not.
Frosty, It doesn't start until 9:00 tonight.
http://www.stpaul.gov/depts/publicworks/snowplow.html
i'm trying to figure out which way the causal relationship is here. snow emergency leads to snow or snow leads to snow emergency. :)
if your car is on a nite plow route you need to move it by 9 tonite. if its on a non-nite plow route you need to move it by 8 tomorrow morning.
Day plow route for me. Thanks for the quick updates. Now I can wait and forget about it tommorow. ;-)
Easiest way to determine the snow emergency situation in Saint Paul is by calling 266-PLOW.
hey lisa.
and actually its even easier to sign up for the mailing list and have snow emergency notices delivered straight to your inbox.
True, Ares...however not everyone is always on-line.
I use 266-PLOW if I need to know immediately what is going on, and I don't think everyone knows about this number provided by the city.
I live on a night plow route as well as a day plow route.
Just signed up at www.stpaul.gov
Thanks for the tip Ares
good point lisa. i guess i was directing it more towards those who were on line at the moment.
Ares, FYI: I signed up last year as well as this year and, I've yet to receive a mailing.
Yo Ninjas-where ya be Violent J. Got my Nuge in da wagon, and the volume on HIGH.
We be ready
Snow!
Snow!
didn't i ask that this wait until after tonite's rush?
oh well, here's a salute to the snow:
woohoo!
hmm, sounds like a salute to scribe too. speaking of which, where are you scribe? as is evidenced by the post count since this morning we've missed you!
I was musing to myself about spotters. If the PP has spotters, why can't we? Assign people to shifts on watching all the parks, set up video surveillance. Wouldn't necessarily be to find out which park it's in, but get more into the mind's of those who run the hunt. When they drop it, how they drop it, things of that nature. I know it wouldn't happen, just something I pondered.
Ive thought about that too. Assign different people to different parks. It is possible, and would only need a dozen or so committed people to discover the secrets of the hiders/spotters, etc!
come on kids, we're not sure if the pp has spotters. i mean we all know they do but still. lemme guess. which park its in is a side effect of knowing when and how they drop it.
You'd need a lot more than a dozen people if you really wanted to do that. To try and watch Como Park alone would take at least a dozen people with all the different areas of the park that could be used. Then you'd have to consider that you need 24 hour surveillence so you'd have to double or triple your staff depending on how long the shifts were going to be. Then you have to take into consideration the fact that if they really do hide it in a snowstorm and/or at night, visibility isn't going to be all that good. So even if you see someone, you may not be able to tell if they actually dropped the medallion or not. And even if you managed to bypass all that, and I was the person hiding the medallion, all I'd have to do is bring someone along whose job it was to distract you for just a moment while I make my move.
So I don't think trying to catch them hiding it is likely to succeed.
No spotters, they hide it and stay the hell away! That is a fact!
Goodevening AW, Green, Ares, Jake01! Where's Scribe today? , I have stepped into the COOLER! hehe --ok, I second the "salute to the SNOW"! I stepped outside thismorning and said "Goodmorning Mr. Medallion, where ever you sleep, under your blanket of snow, rest well for now, for soon I WILL FIND YOU, and YOU WILL BE MINE! AHAHAHAHAHA"-(with a little evil in my voice).
I think last year's clues tell us a lot more about the cluewriter than anything. Last year they referred to a lot of things in the park that used to be there a long time ago, yet one would never know about just by looking at it now. I don't think it would occur to anyone to use those things as clues unless they themselves remember when they were there. Granted, they could have been looking at the Treasure Hunter's Guide, but in a year where it seemed they were doing their best to fool the experienced hunters, I doubt they would make reference to things they found in a book they know the hunters refer to. So I'd say the cluewriter is someone who's at least 40 and more likely in their 50's. It would be someone who grew up in St. Paul, probably near Como Park. Certainly their familiarty with Como far exceeds their familiarity with Conway and it's hockey rinks. I imagine it's someone who has worked for the PP for quite a while in order to be entrusted with the secrecy of it all. It's not someone who generally spends a lot of time doing and making logic puzzles. They do seem to have an appreciation for word puzzles though, so they could well be a writer. Offhand, my guess is it's a woman. So sound like someone anyone recognizes?
Still heady from your victory in the Mock Hunt, are we Me2? hehe
I drive that road every day! I always look up that hill...If I just would have walked up that hill! ahhhhhhhhhh!
Jake, whatever. There are Spotters. There will always be Spotters. And one of these days, one's gonna get you, drag you off and you'll never be heard from again...
Woe to you! Unable to Hunt, but just watch!
Then you'll believe. Then you'll believe.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha-Jake is offline right now-but that was PRICELESS! I can sooooo picture it. I almost fell off my chair! hahahahahahahahahaha --I had just spoke to him and told him that I think of the spotters as a good myth if not true. that is one for the books!
Bock. After doing much o'Cecil B. Demil's bidding... LOL!!! And such mundane, everyday tasks as grocery shopping (making The Brown stuffed *red* peepers... Green peepers give me indigestion and have no taste other than bitter to me... But I can eat a hab stuffed with peannut butter and not bat an eye. Go figure!), and dropping off an app. Gots a yob interview tomorrow. Not prolly the most lucritive yob, but one - nonetheless - that I would enjoy doing. At least for awhile!
Will be to'ing and fro'ing.
Gotta go call The Spotters... To let them know they gotta teach Jakey a lesson... :D
Maybe I should get that treasure chest back from you Me2 and then we could just say that part of the prize is getting to keep it for a year as a sort of travelling trophy?
Good Evening!
Isn't it grand? Enough snow for a snow emergency!!
Allison, your Hunt?
I think that would be a wonderful idea! However, you'd have to keep in touch with that person: phone #, e-mail, address, etc., so that you could retrieve cask should Finder not reliquinsh volentarily.
Or... Izz there bucks to have a thighy attached to it so that each year the winner could be enscribed on there??? 'Nudder option...
It's a true crue on here right now!
Hey Green? whos side are you on?
Evenin', Ter. I'm STILL trying to figure *that* one out...
"Snow Emergency." Just HOW much snow did SP get?????????? I heard five inches... That little amount can't be enuff for a snow emergency, can it?
Or do I not understand what consitutes an "emergency"?????
Uhhhmmm... Hello, Me2... (Do I know you???)
Uhhhhmmm.... I R on my side... To what to you refer?
I believe that 3 inches constitutes a snow emergency here...but we did get more like 5 inches. Minneapolis also declared a snow emergency.
That has to mean the medallion found it's hiding place during the night. Just out there waiting for some good clue noodling and some digging.
Well, I live litterally on the bluff above the High bridge and boy did we get snow! Bummer there is no snow emergency though, thought about it as I heave-hoed a ton of snow from our driveway and 5 feet into the street so I can get into the drive way! Our street is not driven on much and on a hill so makes it rough! I know...gripe gripe---but I do love it--
Poor Hider! My thoughts are with him/her! Having to get outta bed in the middle o'the nite and go traipsing around in the dark and cold and snow...
NOT!!!
Been there, done it. And will again for 12 or so days this year. (sigh)
I gotta get a brain! :D
If you live near the high bridge - that's part of St. Paul...and there is a snow emergency. Keep that car off the street!
Howdy, Kids.
You guys... I'm sure you don't have sparklies in your butt like I do... But (no pun intended...)...
Do you have a greater, heightened sense of "THIS IS IT!!!! The Hunt's been 'birthed' for this year!!!!", as I do?
Like,now ittiz for real??? FINALLY!!!!!!
I can't even imagine that That Wonderous Blue Puck's just lying and waiting...
I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!
I have that treasure chest in my possession. We met last year at the re-hash. It is ok if you don't remember, it was busy and lots ofpeople to meet. I have hunted since, I think, 1983-84-when ever it was at Newell that time. My dad worked for the Pioneer press in computers and started a tradition with his kids-he said if he found it, he would give it to someone else, that it was the heat of the hunt and game that intrigued him. He said noone ever knew who hid it. He passed away in 1994 but the tradition lives!
Hey Thanks Terry for the snow emergency update!
That would be 1984 for Newell. I loved that hunt! Went right down to the wire. An extra clue was published in the early edition of the Sunday paper that year. They were going to extend the hunt because of all the snow. In spite of the snow cover, the weather was mild enough for us to take our kids out with us. We had a blast!
You're welcome!
The funny thing about the snow emergency is that I get that sent to my email...and today I got 8 notices!
Oh. Me2. That was wonderful. Bless your Dad. So glad to see you've inheired his love o'the Hunt.
Yes. I want that money. But to WIN - find it, ace the clues, "the heat of the hunt," - THAT is what drives me.
The Hunt, the clues. Yes. I know what your Dad felt. I feel it, too.
