I think it used to be both at the same time...11:00 or 11:30. Then there was
the issue of the PP not selling as many papers and folks complaining that it was
unfair that they bought their paper with the clue and others would sit at their
putter getting it without paying.
It's set up this way now as some slight advantage to those that run downtown.

Good Morning Crew!
In one week and some few hours the first clue will be upon us.
Here's a partial checklist of things to prepare:
1. Buy Winter Carnival Button
2. Get button registered before the 1-20-02 deadline
3. Gather winter hunting clothing...long johns, socks, boots, hats, mittens,
jackets, snow pants, whatever
4. Gather hunting implements...rakes, shovels, plastic sniffing dogs,
whatever
5. Night time diggers gather lighting needs...flashlights, lanterns, whatever
6. Gather all your noodling helps....maps, websites, dictionaries, whatever
7. Perform routine maintenance on your putter to allow for optimum
performance during the hunt...scan disk, defrag, whatever...(you know you won't
take the time once the hunt begins. :-)
8. Perform routine maintenance on your vehicle to allow for optimum
performance during the hunt...oil change, tune up, etc., etc., whatever
9. Purchase sufficient quantities of quick fix meal grocery things and eat on
the run items...or simply be sure you have sufficient money on hand to eat out.

parks (especially useful if it does happen to be out of the city). For example,
if the clues suggest the park has sledding, you can do a search on "sliding
hill" (there are aids to tell you what to search for exactly) and it will tell
you all the parks that have sledding. Or you can look for all the parks with a
lake, with picnic areas, etc.

writing clues ;)

We have been sharing thoughts about the hunt. It's still a week away. But
there's only so much you can say about the hunt before it even starts. We've
talked about the how the lack of snowfall will affect things, we've talked about
which parks we like and think the medallion may be in, we have talked about

I haven't really been paying attention to the weather forecasts, but there
seems to have been variety in them. No snow for a while, flurries some day,
snowfall then nothing..... I think it just shows that you can't be sure of what
Minnesota weather will be like.

avatars (user pics) were stripped from them. I have not looked at the code (is
that what it's called?), but if I wanted to reconstruct them, could I change the

Not everybody minds slogging through posts, whether its relevant to the hunt
or not. Some posts are knowledgeable, some posts are silly, some posts are
Hilarious, some posts are dumb, and some are annoying. I like to read about
Scribes rubber chicken, Green's Velveta Cheese, Terry's sons
accomplishments(congrats), Allisons job search, Usual Suspects Las Vegas Car
Trouble,...whatever people want to share! All these things make up a community.
If there are posts that are irrelevant, like a series of one word posts, I skip
over them-big deal. The only thing I don't like is people bashing other people
for any reason.

I was back down at HI today and Como for a little while. Got some new photos
to add to the site....expect them later tomorrow. Also some things to add
regarding Como revisions over the summer.
By the way, it was hard for me to walk around without looking in frozen
puddles and stepping on clumps of dirt. Who knows...I might find it before the
