Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

clay, mud, wads of grass, buried under leaves between a couple of roots in a tree. i imagine hidden falls or someplace else near the river would be good for this where there'd be trees with higher growing root systems.

Good Evening!

Snow would be nice - and I'm sure we'll have some before the end of the hunt. After all, this is January in Minnesota.

Glad to see folks are getting along.

Allison - I agree with you. Sometimes it's hard to know whether one should post their thoughts or not.

I figure the purpose of this board is to share ideas. The finder will still have to wade through all the random thoughts, pick which ones make most sense to them, and then get off their cans and pick up that shovel and dig. Without the digging, there will be no reward. Doesn't matter who called what first or who first interpreted any particular clue correctly. The only thing that matters in the end is that someone finds it.

terry, last month was december in minnesota too, and the month before that was november. and neither of them saw a hunt-worthy amount of fresh snowfall. i'm still betting its gonna be a dry hunt.

Evenin' All!

Not being the world's best Hunter - if anything, prolly the worst - it *is* a big deal to me being the first to interpret a clue correctly.

I doubt if it will ever be said o'me, "green found The Medallion in 2XXX!"

But it can always be said, "green aced 'a line of trees = wood row = Wilson' in 1999!"

Maybe when I've been hunting as long as so many o'you, noodling a clue correctly will become old hat as - if! - I do it more and more often.

But until I get better at all this, just figuring out what The Clue Writer(s) meant/means is a BIG HIGH!

Does anyone have an idea for a new-fangled super-duper digging implement that wouldn't be noticed by other hunters? Perhaps a dog with a good nose for plastic. Or how about some sort of ultrasonic device that would be able to see through the snow. Provided there is snow.

Lets get working on these ideas.

they add water, which in mn makes ice

you're kidding me, right? wouldn't that be increasing the thickness of the ice, thus throwing off things like the spots for the goals and stuff?

Been working on work-work here tonight. Trying to be sure I have all my ducks in a row - visions of them floating on orange juice - before I need time off for digging.

I've gained another obsession the past couple of years. Aurora Borealis Hunting...and if anyone is interested and under clear skies, find some dark sky location and look towards the north. You just might get lucky to see a fantastic light show tonight. All the indicators are up for a good chance of finding those lights!

I'm going to get ready for some night sky viewing...might as well get used to being sleep deprived, right?

Rush, ittiz not a case of me being the Matriarch o'here. But a case of continuity and trust.

I, as only one or two others, have dealt with folks here for going on five years. Many people here are very private and that has to be respected.

There's an amount of trust and credibility that has been built up. That is not to be jeapordized or threatened.

Good intentions are good intentions...

In my mind, good intentions would have asked first... As in: "Do *we* need a count for the 19th? I'll set up an [e-mail] account and PASS ON THE INFO."

I am NOT the "Matriarch" o'this Cooler. I am, however, very protective o'The 'Crew and this Cooler. I am very protective of The Hunt...

The "Matriarch"? Don't put that on me, Rush. The title could well go to you should you get your drawers in a knot.

This Cooler, The Cooler Crew, Cooler Heads... Ittiz all a collective effort. I'm just one piece o'the puzzle (ROFLOLPMP!!!) that spoke up.

Alright! I'm here!

Just been out checking for clearing. Seems we have some cloud cover here.

If you have clear skies, you need to find dark skies...no street lights or other light pollution. Let your eyes adjust to the dark for a few minutes and watch the northern skies. When the aurora is active, you may see glows, arcs, curtains, rays, anywhere from the northeast to the northwest. Sometimes closer to the horizon but often reaching to the corona overhead. Often there is white or green tints...and if you get really lucky, there's rainbow colors or red.

Green - check the skies. Are they clear by you? If so I'd head out and check it out. No guarantees, but I have software now that gives all sorts of information. The indicators are up. The moon is new so won't interfere. Find a dark sky location, let your eyes adjust and watch. With any luck, you'll see it.

Ok, I'm going to make a random rant that has nothing to do with the Treasure Hunt. But what is with KQRS and their "CD sides"? CD's only have 1 side!! They're just playing whatever songs they want and calling it a CD side. And now they just played one from "The Police's Greatest Hits" and just played a song that isn't even on that album! False advertising!

The 7th clue is on a Friday night at midnight, and the 8th is Saturday at midnight. Though to get anything going really, there would have to be at least some consensus on a park, if it's to be a digging event. A bonfire would be cool (or warm as it were), but can't do that everywhere. Not sure what other sorts of events we could do.

If it weren't for the movie, and the fact I know they really want to shoot a typical snowy hunt, I'd be perfectly happy hunting without snow. I never liked the digging aspect. I think there will be snow by the time people get out to look, but otherwise I would imagine they might put it in something that blends in with something else. Might cover it in mud or something. Maybe put it in a piece of wood somehow, or if it's cold enough, they may freeze it in some ice somewhere (wouldn't be the first time). The only problem is what if it inspires people to start digging up stuff they shouldn't be digging up?

RIVRAFT - 12:44am Jan 11, 2002 CST (#3336 of 24843) Mark Reply

They're going to do more shooting for the same film. They made a short version of it from last year's footage and I guess it did pretty well. They seem to think they'll get HBO to buy it.

The hunt was commercialized a long time ago. The whole thing is mainly a way to try and sell more papers. I got my button today and I see 7 or 8 different sponsors on the card that comes with it. The various events the PP hosts in connection with the new clues coming out are usually sponsored by companies. This whole thing is really meant to be a money making venture. So all I can say is God bless capitalism! hehe
