Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

Hey Liquor Lady!

Thanks for remembering I don't do coffee, green. Love the aroma though so I appreciate that in a different way when I get here.

I wouldn't think of Tim as a stud...not that he might not be for some young lady closer to his age - but he's younger than my own kids!

Speaking from experience...30 years worth...it gets to be a good feeling to know you were that close to the medallion...especially when you get a year or two when you've blown the whole thing.

Real pain is finding out you put it back. After that...everything doesn't feel so bad. It's a matter of perspective I guess.

Most of the people in the club are pretty nice with a few exceptions. And none of those are doing the hunt.

As for the spotters, there was that time at Conway where there was a guy that just stood across the park, looking at where the treasure was with no digging tools, and he just stood there from 11pm to like 4am.

Allison Wonderland - David Allison has a reputation for being the best clue noodler in St. Paul. He's usually right about which park the medallion is in long before anyone else knows. When he says it's in a certain park, hundreds of diggers follow. When he's right, it's great. But when he's wrong...

1) So they know when The Med's found.

2) They know who found The Med.

3) So The Med can't be kept.

Remember, Tim, you HAVE to turn The Med in rite away. RITE AWAY. Not in two hours, not in five, not in three days. You pick it up and go directly to MomPress.

You don't, you're in big, deep doggie-foofoo.

Tim - think about it...

you have a puck in the snow worth $10,000.

there are thousands of folks looking for that one puck

security come to mind?

I always figure when the spotter sees it's been picked up, there is a notification to police or whatever until the people get out of the park.

If someone found it and didn't turn it in, then I guess just no one would win the money. There's not a lot they can do really. If someone walks off with it, they probably don't know who it was, even if they did have a spotter see them, unless the spotter writes down the license plate or something. Even then it would be hard to tell if they really found it or just found something unless they were close by.

But, the thought of going down in history as the one, single person to ruin over 50 years of history and tradition... I couldn't do it. Famous would be cool; infamous I can't stomach. I cherish history and tradition too much.

The problem is if they think it's just an "off" Saturday night with no game in town, they'll schedule enough help for what they think they'll need to handle the expected crowd. Then if an extra hundred people show up, that help gets stretched thin and ends up getting crabby and we get bad service and no one ends up happy. The person who does the scheduling probably doesn't think about the hunt. But I would think if we call them early enough that they can schedule enough help for that night, then things would hopefully be ok. The only thing I'm wondering is if we wouldn't be better off maybe just trying to see if we can reserve the upstairs instead of trying to fit in downstairs?

And when we call and say there's 100 or so folks showing up, they're going to hit us with renting a room. Been there, done it. The cost o'the room will increase depending upon how many xtra folks they bring in to handle the larger crowd as they wouldn't have had to call in those xtra folks had we not decided to descend upon them like locusts...

But the extra people mean extra business and if the business doesn't pay for the help, then one would have to question how they stay in business in the first place. If we wanted a private room, they could hit us with a fee, but they can't charge us just to show up. But I'm thinking if we don't tell them, then we're almost guaranteeing a bad experience. Maybe better yet I'll just walk over there after work tomorrow and talk to the person I know who works there and get her opinion.

I know it's an issue. I think a simple, non reservation type anonymous call might at least give them a heads up...and they can then prepare or not prepare as they see fit.

It would be similar to having the Xcel Center call them to let them know what time a concert of game would be starting or out.

So anyway, I've been pretty busy with my singles club and Mason lodge and other groups I'm involved with, so it's been hard to spend much time here. But the 18th is my last day of work and then I'm getting laid off, so at that point I should have lots of time for hunting and filming and posting.

How much snow do y'all have left in St. Paul? I heard it was in the mid 50s yesterday in Mankato!

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered in past years, or maybe even this year, but there would be way too many posts to slog looking for it...so my question is: was there ever a year when there was no snow for the hunt? If so, how and where did they hide the medallion?

Lots of posts about hunts where there was no snow. The med has been hidden in everything from dirt to garbage from the sounds of it.

We have very little snow left, and with overnight temps in the 40's last night, we're not going to have any very soon.

Hey timmy the hunter if Allison Wonderbra is the best clue noodler in St Paul Than youre in a world of hurt Last year Wonderbra kept on and on on about DeSoto st and whatever that crack infested park was but he blew it last year big time! I called the park and location check last year cooler for yourself. This year again I will call the correct park before anyone else. Maybe he was distracted last year by the hopes of fame from the movie production,it sure seems like he was more interested in the movie crew than the cooler crew. Now ABC is going to be here to cover the hunt so Wonderbra will be occupied trying to get his face on the tube.

San Jose *is* a sister city. Midknight-Rider paper... Can't remember the name o'the paper rite off the top o'my head - funny name. Inee-hoo... Used to be a Med Hunt out there, too. Of COURSE, I'm sure it never had the history ours does - our is "so special." But, there was one and they had to stop it cuz those fruits and nuts couldn't behave and dug everything up and destroyed and were just generally rotten and bad. Not like us perfect folk here in MN, you know?

Well, my fiend used to live in SJ and hunt... I'll have to ask her what ittiz like to hunt w/no snow. It doesn't snow (or rain) in southern California, you know. Maybee we can get some ideas of what a Med would be hidden in when there's no snow...

Me? I think I'll bee pretty suspicious if I see an orange lying around some park...
