Mac, I will be there at 11 wearing a bright orange Jacket
We will see you tonight then!
Yeah, I seen Mr. Know It all today at Como hunting.... These clues are a lot harder than past years... They really wanted to draw this one out.
cmon mac. u can tell us where u been diggin
It's not at Como.
why not?
Good Morning Jordenn, How are you have you found anything?
why are people saying its not at como
They dont know Donna..... no one will say why they dont think it is at COMO
phillip what do you think....i'm still thinkin highland
you like Highland with yesterdays clue? I dont know what to think anymore.. LOL
think yesterdays clue is to throw us off .....but some how it will fit i think...(i hope)
Hey folks the last clue says to put the combination of cococa and mocha together foe a lucrative location. The only thing that comes out of those words is como. Anythiing else mentioned on this board is people trying to pull you away from the site.
No Matter what anyone say on this board no one will pull people out of Como, it is packed!
but they said it was gonna be much harder this year and now they just give it away...thats hard to believe
yeah but there are not many clues left
gave what away? Como is freakin' huge..
I am heading out now. Will spend a couple of hours going down "memoery Lane" near the carousel, where playing can be lots of fun, in my circular thinking. Be back for Super Bowl and out again for the next clue. GO RAVENS!
Only a couple clues to go and that is a big park. The last clues will just narrow it down.
what do ya'll think about steer away from the herd.....could that mean stay away from where all others are diggin......( i don't know i'm so confused)
Where the heck is Green I have not seen her in a long time.
seen her last night but not since then
Donna have you been hunting in Como or still Highland?
phillip, if it's alright, I wouldn't mind hooking up with you and MacGrove for a late night run... what do you think?
we are going out to como tonight but i think we will stop at highland on the way home ..... how about you phillip?
Me and My momma are going hunting i think to como what time you going at Donna?
NOt a problem Digg, I will be at the P.P. at eleven to get the paper and on my way to Como... Unless Mac, is able to tell me a lot of info as to why it is not at Como. Yesterdays clue just seems to point us to Como... The park is so big and they needed to get us there.
around 6.30 or 7
Good morning :)
Everyone who just wants to say it's not Como because you're not resourceful enough to make everything fit, go do something else. Apply for a part time job. Donate your time to a charity. Build wicker baskets.
Do not waste mine or anyone else's time unless you're prepared to back it up with something more than "oh, I think it's just to throw us off ...the clue fits perfectly to describe the park, sure, but it's <insert your disappointing improper location here>"
...or something along those lines. I've invested too much time and energy researching and unlocking clues to hear this kind of garbage.
so how do you really feel matt....just kidding
Matt, do you konw why they are called McMurray fields or who McMurray is?
I here you. I've been out to Como for two straight days. I've been all over the place, and not very fond of the park...
I took the kids to parade, did some sliding (courtesy of the 4 coupons included in the button registration) didn't get to do the gog sled stuff, but every year it's fun all the same.
The clues applied to Como and pretty much everywhere else. Locking it down to Como isn't giving it away because even the most cunning of hunters can't narrow it down to less than 2 or 3 potential locations inside the park.
Again, I'm all ears to hear how it's somewhere else, but I don't think anyone's come up with anything even worth considering.
But Matt i do think everyones opion counts.. even if its not what you believe. I enjoy seeing what other people think and why. thats what makes us all diffrent... i respect all others opions
I'm not ruling out Como, in fact unless strong indication otherwise, it's there... somewhere
I dont know why I do this, it drives me crazy every year.....
anyone else going to como today?
Matt go to my post 17690 and tell me what you think i did the research and all fits...i'm doing some more research on clue 8 and will let you know what i find.....let me know what you think
Been to Como once today... found a few places i like a lot... now home resting up for tonight.....
I'm not sure about McMurray, I've got a mission before tonight to nail that completely. It bothers me that it's technically still in Como park, yet it's named something entirely different... and Como Park isn't even mentioned on the signage for the fields. I'll have more information soon.
If you're looking at McMurray, be sure to stay away from the entire broomball area.
There's far too much traffic for the medallion there. It's regularily groomed, and had snow removal services. If it *were* anywhere near there, you could count on it being at a landfill just as much as anywhere else. The cluezers wouldn't make that kind of fatal error.
Phillip i hear ya ...i think everyones stree level rises to a point where the docs could make alot of money off us....but its still a great time
Yeah, I am trying to figure out why they are named that... and who it is.... that zone 3 ia big and has lots of room......
Donna I agree with every thing in you posting (17690) but the staute. They say that ever year just to let us no not to mess them up :)
donna: I can't find that message. I respect people's thoughts as well, but not if they're unjustified :) Gut feelings never find this medallion. This is a prize near the size of a silver dollar in the deep snow. Luck never finds this medallion.
Rather, a combination of logic, instinct, math, and yes, a little luck... find this medallion. :)
hear ya matt and if i would put as much thought and research into my work as i do this med. i would be president of the co. :-)
Hehe, this is why I'm the president of my company.
Seems Allison is now unstuck on Arlington and is now towards Phalen Park. :) Anyone know why?
LOL.... Donna
Everyone wants it to be at Phalen every year. It has not been there is no long and it seems as though everyone knows a lot about it. I have not a clue as to why anyone would stear away from Como after yesterdays clue.
no i talked to aw earlier and i think hes thinking that all the clues fit and that the first med was hid there
the first med was there ....before that they hid a chest
The first med was hiden at Highland. Just thought you might want to know. :)
hey guys. just got back from a few hours of digging on the west picnic grounds. thanks, guide and whoever else was down there for the fire. as far as i know, jake, tim, and treasure digger are still out there.
sorry step, schlett, and regg for missing you. i got detoured to a buddy's place in cottage grove to do some tech support on his peecee and didn't get to the park till 1215. you didn't call me dan :)
for all the trees already dug up there, i'm thinking the picnic grounds aren't the place (or at least the depressed region by the fire rings). the pavillion's looking better all the time. i imagine i'll be there at lunchtime tomorrow, complete with the towel on my arm.
Phalen Park's gates are closed late night. I can't see it being hidden there unless it were completely open. I liked it until last night.
How did he get around the cocoa mocha bit? (Which spells "Como," and "Coach A" <-- Coach Avenue)
Matt you are kind of a hypocrite are't you? Your little blurb under your name says to trust your instinct. Yet you bite peoples head off for stating that their instinct tells them it is not in Como. Get over it. Gut feeling, instinct, What's the miff?
Matt- 03:21pm Jan 28, 2001 ST (#22485 of 22485) The frenzy is upon us. Trust your instincts, trust your eyes. Thier as many dollars to the reward as there are wrong directions to it.
no beckster that was a chest.... look up past places and look at 1958 this is the firt year that it was a medallion
erm, not coach avenue, it's coach rd. :P
Matt...the med. is bigger than a silver dollar, unless you know of some fairly large silver dollars.
Ok sorry Donna that was my bad. Sorry and thank you for the correction. :)
Hey Ares i live in cottage grove and a bunch of us are going out tonite... is your buddy going back out
Huntress: Instincts and eyes. Use your feelings, use what you see in front of you. I didn't say "don't back up your gut feelings."
I talk about instincts, I talk about eyes. What's your problem?
Hey no problem just wanted you to know thats where alot of people are puting the cicular clue into place
Anyway, I'm not here to argue about ethics. Later.
donna, my buddy left for phoenix today. he had to send some email before he left.
can't we all just dig along?
That was cute diggorius. :)
LOL@diggorious
I wish i was going some place warm ares and i wouldn't even care where this stupid med was.....I"M so streesed
so why aren't you out digging, rez?
need food...must rest...
if it's any consolation, donna, (and it isn't to me), i'm going to florida sometime next month for work, and by then, i won't care where this med is :)
Oh and the little football game...
I'm jealouis ares :-(
Damn superbowl is going to suck this year. Can someone help me link Clue 7 to como?
what football game, rex? i don't remember hearing about a game today :)
LOL@ARES
Philip, I think Buehla lane but nothings for sure.
I agree, we should just all 'dig along'. I was ticked at Brandon last nite for giving us a bogus clue at 11 pm, but we have to move on...Has anyone checked out (and I am sure they have) - I see the Coach Rd that you all are talking about, then Cushing Circle for circular thinking, but I never really realized that the old Children's Museum was there on Lexington (playing clue, and if Lex Luther was Supermans nemisis this could mean man of mettle. Also could a peaceful bird be a loon (like in MN Lottery, or a MN Tourism box (if there is such a thing with a loon on it). Traveling the old way again could mean going to Energy Park Drive to get to the old Children's Museum, or the Short Line train tracks could mean an old way of thinking and/or making a big haul. I know it has been on Highways b4, and if it is "off base" from the Children's Museum and on Energy Pk Dr, is there a coffee place around there? Just throwing things out. YOU DON'T THINK STIRRING COMBINATION, COULD MEAN JUST THAT, GETTING EVERYONE STIRRING AROUND COMO WHEN IT IS NOT THERE, BUT CLOSE?
why Buehla lane?
Hello All...MGM is back in the house!
Diggours Rex and Phillip D I hope you boht will search with me I believe Como is not the place Perhaps tonights clue will help me save Face
At this time I cannot share My exact thoughts, but do not dispair If tonight I believe I'm wrong And you head to Como I'll tag along
i'd heard a rumor that buelah lane was once known as memory lane. nuff said.
Mac, I will be with you at the P.P and if you can prove to me that your place is good... then I will go with you... I need to see this next clue come out. I am still so confused
Ares,Where would you ever here a rumor like that????:)
oh those things are good annette. I just came back from Como and I'm going back out again. Two things for FYI: 1 is that there is an old abandoned bridge out by the old park reserve building on the corner of Lexington right before you get to the pavillion.
The other is the pavillion is called black bear crossing - you probably already know that - and the oher thing is that they use ojibway in their service counter stuff. Just in case it comes up.
Hey! good luck everyone!! see ya out there!!
I outta here.
Matt:Look up some history, finding the puck is always dumb LUCK!
But if this hunt strokes your intelligence meter,so be it.
don't remember, scribe, perhaps from someone on the crew? :)
Ares,I just can't recall who could have figured such a difficult thing out......Not me,I of course am always in the frog pond or Linwood!:)
Thanks, Lonehunter, no I hadn't realized. This hunt gets me to know more about our parks every year...I am still learning.
actually, i think i heard it first from tthg at the fire he assisted in starting today. though you may have mentioned it earlier here.
btw, scribe, where were you and thx today?
Been out today, Scribe? Anything new looking good?
I have been throwing together some other ideas... just in case tonights clue throws us off of where we were. :)
Ares,no we're heading out with the kids in a little bit, gonna take a few shots at the puck!We were out till about 4:00am last night and had a great time!:) Jord, you and Pryz been out?
We'll be at the picnic area for now,I still have a very open mind to my original theory though, hopefully the next clue will clear that up but they both look good to me!
Scribe... no slept in and then slogged through. Pryzmsphere is at work again til 11 and I have been throwing together some options looking at the map... brainstorming with a friend of mine online... Where are you goin again? Same as last night?
I'm just glad we have it narrowed down for sure!
If everyone will be out at Como tonight, i'm willing to be there with my Explorer serving the free apple cider, the packages of cookies (16 in a pack for 50 cents), The hand warmers for 75 cents each, and the Granola Bars for 50 cents each (2 in a pack). Anyone want me to do this?
Me too! :) (here's hoping tonights clue doesn't mess that all up...) lol
Jord, yeah same as last night,NOT the firepit area,I'm glad we dug where we dug, when this is over I bet we can say we were close! I liked the second spot we decided......remember?
Is there a frisbee golf course at como?
We're not gonna be out tonight just this afternoon,I want to be fresh for tomorrow after the kids go to school!!!! Then I'll be out full force!
Yea, me too! Think they would go over by the lake more????
were you at mcmurray last night, scribe or on top of the zone 4 hill?
pup, highland's got the only disc golf course in the city.
NOPE! If it was by the lake more that would piss alot of residents off, plus there are schools near by and it's too small of an area.Trust me on this!!!!!!
Thanks Ares.
I want to go look but no way for me to get to and from myhouse to there.
How is the parking at Como? I haven't been out today...Is a trip to Como "potentially lucrative" ?? I HATE it being at Como.
Ares,Zone4 hill, checked out McMurray yesterday during the day and still think it's an open possibility but I'm not touchin it until I know for sure!
OK... just looking at the map and from here in the cozy warmth of the house, it could work... but I am not familiar with that area.
Derick,I'm sure everyone would appreciate that!:)
That would be very nice of you Derick!!! Thanks!! :)
jordenn, if you go to the easternmost firepit in zone 4, the fire might still be going there :)
what is zone 4?
I'm gonna go donn my uniform now!LOL!
I'll be checkin in when we get back!
never, it's a reference to the treasure hunters guide. the big parks like como were divided into zones, for closer scrutiny of their features. zone 4 is the far western end of the park along hamilne av between midway pkwy and horton av.
nice joke extension, scribe.
Thanks Ares!!! :) Gotta stay warm! :)
blue and purple columbia jacket?
thanks Ares, where do you get this guide?
jord, i think i spent more time b-sing around that fire this afternoon than i did digging. the best sight, was steve using his broken spade to chop at the snow. if i'd have had my camera with me...
Ares,Blueish/purple jacket, teal snowpants, white armband, elmer fudd flap hat red and black plaid....can't miss me LOLOL!
the book store formerly known as the hungry mind, i think its called ruminator now. also, if you can find steve at como, he may have some on him there.
I guess parking must be okay, so we're outta here. We'll look for a 91 Explorer with cider !! Thanks Derick
yeah i can, scribe, i'm not goin out again till tomorrow. :)
ian, i parked on a sidestreet just off of hamline.
:) Ares, I think many of do spend more time b sing than diggin anyhow.... how the heck will be find it if we are talking instead of diggin??? :):):)
Thanks, Ares
mebbe that's why no cooler crew member has ever found it, jord?
Ares, yup! :) (but we do have fun, don't we??)
we sure do.
(I need me a tag line... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....)
what's up! any new news to tell me???
seeing as though "i still haven't found what i'm looking for" has been abandoned....
Did you do some searching today?
I wish I could drive I would go out there and give a hand with digging.
hey, kev, where do you go to school at?
matty, i was out at como.
Is everyone still thinking Como or is there any new prospectives??
no, matty, i think we're all pretty much at como.
Matty did you get out there today?
I graduated already.
I live right by Como. It is a mad house now. I just don't know WHERE to look.
Are you going to the PP tonight?>
nevermind, then, kev.
Lucky you matty. Wish I was just a walk away from there. Anyone around Arcade and Maryland.
yeah, kev, but i'm not goin back out tonite :(
I don't think it is LUCKY but FRUSTRATING. I haven't checked out Arcade and MAryland. WHy do you say that?
Its close to where i live.
Oh. Where do you think it is in Como??
I am frustrated because I do not know where to dig anymore. It fits to everywhere!!!
Zone 4 or Zone 6 if I knew right where those areas are.
What does Zone 4 or Zone 6 mean? Where did you get that from?
matty, i can think of at least 3 different areas at como it fits 1) on the west picnic grounds (uphill from the fire rings), 2) out in mcmurray field (see scribes scribings for the reasons), 3) out by the lakeside pavilion.
matty, they're references to the treasure hunter's guide, http://www.treasurehunt.8m.com/, or you can go to the fire ring area and ask around for steve worthman.
Do you think it would be in McMurray field with all the boot hockey and activity??
who knows, matty, stranger things have been known to happen.
That is true. Thanks. There is always so much comotion there. I think they might want to steer clear of the winter carnival activites around there though. What do you think?
What exactly is out at the Lakeside Pavillion. There any places in the pavillion for hot drinks? I have a feeling even though I am pretty new to the hunt and all, that is around there too. Then again I could be wrong.
Kevin, the pavillion sells all sorts of things, drinks, foood ..etc. There are benches and a waterfall outside the pavillion. There is also a paerking lot on both sides. Paddle boats in the summer time below.
kev, there may or may not be a coffee shop in the building on the lakeside pavillion. also, it is the home to the highest hill in the park (if this clue keeps you depressed) and there's a view of the golf course clubhouse (playing might put a smile on your face). lexington pkwy once passed by the pavillion before it was moved farther west (old way to travel)
joe!!!
The old way to travel could also mean the old bridge and waterway that used to be in Como Lake. The pavillion does sell hot coffee.
The boats could be the old way to travel (some one probly all ready said that)
sounds good to me now to find a way to get there to help dig.
I'd pick ya up Kevin, but I think I am going to wait until half time of the superbowl. Paddle boats could also be riding around can be fun quote.
on the west side the trolley would be a old way to travel
it's time to get a treasure hunter's guide, that sounds neat, we didn't know there was such a thing available and close to home. Price?
west side by where?
what would be circular by the pavillion. I know it is some sort of dove box or something. Now in clue 7 "Think of traveling the old way again And you might make a big haul. Could be the bridge right. So where is the bridge exactly close to the pavillion?
by the carousols Matty
Ares, couldn't the golf course also be cicular thinking could be one way of linking?
mine was 14 bucks, never. steve was still at como when i took off. just look for the guy using a shovel with no handle :)
howdy y'all...has anyone dug the puck up yet?
what time is that at matty.
Thanks, Donna. The haul could also mean many other things. Haul= bus station near McMurray fields. Haul- up hill.
Hi to all! Finally got this (*&%$*$(* computer going! Can't wait til next clue. I'm stuck at work and can't go out and dig :( So I have to live vicariously through the Crew!
Superbowl starts 5:30- half time possibly around 6:30 or 7:00
indeed it could, pup, at least linking. just stay off it. my theory still stands that the circular is a reference to the conservatory, carousel, or fire pits signifying the right area, but are out of view of the medallion hiding place.
good call matty.....are ya read for this one
Well folks, I just got a weather bulletin in my e-mail: Winter storm watch Monday and Monday night. A mixture of snow and freezing rain will cross the iowa border late tonight. It will continue spreading north reaching the twin cities around Noon (monday). Significant accumulations of ice are possible,The precipitation should change over to mainly all snow during Monday night. SO EVERYONE STAY SAFE - HOPEFULLY ONE OF US WILL FIND IT TONIGHT!!!
True Ares. What is your thought on memore lane?
and let's not forget the street car line that's quite visible from the west end of the park. (just south of horton av.)
Ok everyone, i'll be at the parking lot in the West Picnic Grounds at Como tonight. Look for a Black Ford Explorer, with a strobe light flashing (so you can find me). I will have free apple cider, cookies for 50 cents a package (16 in a package), Granola Bars for 50 cents (2 in a package), and those amazing little hand/feet warmers for 75 cents each. I might have a little space heater in the back so you can warm up your hands and stuff. I will be leaving for Como in the next hour or two. See you all there! - Derick
matty, beulah was allegedly once named memory lane.
isn't the clubhouse at Como circular? could it also be Something as simple as the medallion being circular?
That is right where I live!! do you think it is on that street?
believe the clubhouse is octagonal, never.
not necessarily on the street, but it's definitely a possible bounding point.
worked out the letters in beulah and the only word i could get out of it was HAUL
I really wish I had the time to go digging, but I guess a little thing called school is more important (at least in somebody's world)
Ok, how about haul---buses??
haul could have to do with the river...or horses perhaps?? I have no idea, just forget I said anything at all
here's the thing with traveling the old way. it all depends on who you ask. i'm addicted to my car (and i'm 24 for the record), and thus i consider things like the bus to be the old way. my parents remember the streetcars, though i question whether they had electricity to run them back then :) and dinosaur travel :). riverboat travel, rail travel. it all depends on the age of who you ask.
where would that be on the map. Intersecting the stree you named.
man of steel cannot be real...what is that all about? plenty of mettle (courage) be in ver fine fettle (fitness/shape)....help
izzy, you need to hook up with stepdogg. he was gonna go back to st. cloud today, but is putting that off until the puck is found.
military references??
Horses also are used to HAUL things ;)
what intersection are you talking about, kev?
so are iron horses, pryzm, railroads.
matty your right there go out on by the bus station and get ta diggin
military---that is base too...what does that have to do with Como?
nope. not to sound like a complete loser (which I am), but I think my parents would go slightly bisurk if I didn't go to school tomorrow..it's not really a choice
If I find it-- I will give ya some of the fat cash!
Welcome Pryzm!
it could also mean that we have to HAUL A$$ if we want to find it! :)
ah, you're stuck with that problem. i forgot, not everyone here has finished high school yet :)
I am narrowing my options and trying to decide where to go. Bus station--no where really to dig. There is also a Humane Society right there? Any insights?
considering that there are several million tons of snow to turn over, pryzm...
Hey J! Any new ideas?
yup. sorry...I guess I'm a little squirt
Wooohoooo thats a deal matty.... and to let ya know mettle also means in spirit...(DEAD?)
good idea donna where is my ride :-(
P- Naw! My brain hurts... :)
EXACTLY Ares!
spirit? dead? famous man-Winston Churchill or cemetary?
I know the feeling! It's worse than a hangover! :)
i'm doing research on all the names of the streets as we speak....all the people there named after are dead
Like what Donna?
Anyone else live around the cross streets of Arcade and Maryland.
Ok, how abour the depressed clue.... If this choice leaves you depressed playing might put a smile on your face?
stay out of depressions, matt.
I think it is in a pile of "pressed leaves"....
curchill was around during the depression..
like who is the one with the most honor to his name and stuff like that to narrow it down....trust me i will be out there tonight cuz i think it will be found tonight after the next clue ....by 12.30 it will be found
J, where did you go??? :(
I think it's in the monkey pit...or perhaps with the grizzly bears
sorry, now I'm getting sarcastic
I am here... chatting with Crooks via IM... :)
what other names are around beside Churchill
Who can name a bunch of great St. Paulite's - Like JJ Hill, Fitzgeald, perhaps one of them sounds like a name of a metal.....
Izzy, that's a great idea! I'll hold your shovel when you go in
the Hamm name...any more well known St. Paulite's you can think of?
maybe one of the penguins are hiding the puck...a polar bear could be sitting on it...there are thousands of possibilities...you just have to think of the fun places to look!
funny pryzmsphere. Very funny. If I wanted to go out there tonight I would need a ride to get there. I have a shovel and if I were to find the medallion I will split the prize.
How about Hamline Ave?
"Hey bear...move it!"
It's kind of a haul (pun intended) but you could take the bus,Kev.
Has anyone thought of LOBE Lake?
