Zone 4 seems so good, and I am going to stick with that!
Leah...isn't wasn't so bad WAAAAAAY back in 80....ouch!....sounds old!
BLB because they didn't pinpoint it yet.. they told you everything around it.. just not where in the park it is.. COMO is one big ars park it will be hard to find it with just the first 6 clues or so
Sue>> same! i think CDH is a great school
catch ya there tomorrow, regg. along with step and schlett.
just wanted to make sure I was talkin about the right Hilari- sorry to bring it up- do you know who I am?
Everyone knows my 1st name!
Ares, who are you....hmmmm who are some 94s that I knew...Jodi, Tracy, Sharon, Sarah, Pat, Brad,...
first of all, butch, i was a 95.
I don't, regg :)
hey people I didn't say anything about the 80's
I said way back, but I certainly don't feel old. I figure I'll just stick with being oh, 19 or so. That was a good age. Yeah, I've just celebrated 15 anniversaries of my 19th birthday. :-/
Leah, I know this is way off topic but I am concidering sending my kids to CDH soon can you give me some insight on why you hated it?
I thought ICM = Influential Como Master.. haha.. away from the herd.. of course.. get away from all the carnival hype.. what about that poor lonely lake, i thinks it needs some attention.. muhahahaha
Regg>> really, i don't, what is it??? j/k (really dumb humor)
WoW cool...hmmmm who did you have for....uhm....english as a senior.
The ball fields at zone 4 are dug up!
Sorry to get you ragged on, Leah. It was ME that say WAY back. I really liked Derham. Granted, that was before it was Cretin-Derham.
icm, I hope your right and I hope you find it. Let me ask you one question. Are there any other parks you have considered.
Adding hot cocoa to a cup of mocha
Creates a stirring combination
Put them together and you'll evoke a
Potentially lucrative location
I think the puck is in a coffee cup. Is this what the clue is saying?
someone whose, um, nickname, i can't mention here. oh, you mean the other nickname. methinks they've got a monument to her out by the conservatory :)
very political- and just a bad place to be, my opinion anyways
yeah... right now I don't really see how it couldn't be at como...
somehow I could like 20 min. ago but not anymore!
Leah.....I was referring to my grad year at what was then CHS...*smile*
Reggie, duhhhhhhh!
now do you know who i am, emily?
Tom - I don't think so. The only thing this clue says is that the medallion is in Como. It was made pretty clear in clue 5 that the medallion is hidden inside of either a dove candy box or a dove soap bar box (peaceful bird).
BLB.. i thought about the park(capitol mall park) next to the capitol.. mall=lots of space.. statues etc.. bold and cruel? = ventura? bla bla bla.. but now i have refocused.. and im off to como..
J & L yeah it can be political, but the teachers know who you are and in my opinion you aren't lost in the shuffle. It's a good college prep. school. In my graduating class something like 92% of all the students were going to college.
I didn't get any clues... I don't know who you are...do you know who I am?
oh man mr. popular.. we have had what it is hidden in way back in clue 5
kitty - were you '85? We'd know each other then.
well, guys, i'm off to hit the sheets. there's a lot of digging to do tomorrow. step, schlett, regg, if you're still here now, c ya tomorrow.
are you sure?
Nite, Ares SCMD!
ICM, its at Como, all you newbies.... Como
sheesh, butch, click the name, then click the web site there. the copyright statement on the bottom shows enough. oh, and now that we've got that class thing straightened out, i'm fairly certain i know who you are.
Anyway, i gots to go... C-Ya all!!
(off to finish watching ROAD TRIP) tom green sure is hilarious!!
VERY VERY VERY sure
about time i get on.....so r you all sayin by the mini golf area......across from the small pavillion
Ares don't go yet!
I've been doing this for a while and you get to know what the clue writer says and doesn't say. Most of the time the clues are WAY WAY WAY overanalyzed in here, but you get some good tidbits. Believe me, #9 just says Como
RM.. yep i got that one figured out.. now im trying to decipher what you guys are talking about zones.. must be in that treasure guide
See you Ares, good night!
Sue '94
Ah, ok didn't know I could do that...
got it figured out now.
ok, ok, last post for the night.
is Mr. Lundell still teaching math?
Yes, as far as I know.
icm - yeah, I think the zones are in the guide. I don't have one, which is a total bummer.
icm, I have every other clue pegged to another park except clue number eight. Normally they try to showcase a park that has had alot of changes done to it. Has Como had any major facelifts or rennovations?
ok ive been saying this for the past half hour now.. im really off to go take a look at como.. see ya all.. *poof*
he was one of my favs - taught our physics class when Sister Sharon was on sobbatical. ended up I majored in physics in college
What zone do you want to know?
I'm scared, I'm being surronded by newbies, rookies to the Cooler Crew world!!!
Como just put in all beautiful new picnic pavillions! and the caroussel
BLB there is a new bldg on lexington and ?? not sure what building it is.. and the new pavillions are opened.. they did some landscaping within the last 2 years near the mini golf area.. hmmmm.. and why not bring more people there? more spectators the better.
Ares, Ares!!!! Stay!!!
night, junior. poof
kitty - zones 4 and 7, I guess. they seem to be the hot spots
Reg, I've been here since Cherokee
Well I can go to sleep knowing the park finally....
tomorrow I DIG!!!!!
good night all!
Night, Ares, see you at 11, at the pavilion!
reg, i thought zone 4 by the west entrance.
I'm guessing it'll be up in the picnic area south of the mini-golf perhaps. Definately needs to be away from the slide and snow sculptures, won't be in the ball fields where it was in '96, needs to be nearer the amusement park rides (riding around can be fun)
icm, I sent the B-squad to Como. The A-squad is searching in another spot. Just trying to cover our basis.
InspectorDigs,ICM and the others are all new, not you Kitty!
well, good night all. Happy hunting. See ya out there! SCMD!
Okay, I'm in denial, but....
we drove through Como today and the place was packed, but VERY few were hunters. What is that park going to be like with hundreds more trying to park/drive etc.
and I know what Clue # it is, but this is just too friggin' easy ??
At the parking lot?
BLB.. well perhaps I will run into the B-squad.. im outtie.. ill return with a full report.. *poof*
sure. now i'm poofing for one last time 2nite.
Ian, easy?!! There are only 3 clues left (I don't really count the last that walks you to the spot) and we JUST got the park - and a big one to boot. Hardly easy, if you ask me.
Regg Man.. im not new.. i just lurk alot.. ive been here.. for 2 years.. and i know all about the frog pond.. now i should really go before someone else finds it.. *poof*
good night folks
most of the previous clues are just trying to get us to think of the park, not really pinpointing a location. There are only a few clues left that'll do that. This is kind of like Cherokee - we knew the park in 7, but not the right location until late in the game. Tons of people with theories, but it took until the end for the big W to show up
Ares, See you at the Parking Lot off of midway inhe middle of Zone 4
O.K. zone #7 is lexington until the circular parking entrance into the lake side pavilion. Then along the lake until gateway dr. and churchill runs north and south thru the southern half which turns into West Como blvd. In zone 7 there is a WW2 submarine torpedo an old bridge and the first parks dept. building. Of course there is the biking and walking trails.
nite, Leah!
Hey :) This clue tells you where it is! My gut feeling all along..and I know where to dig!
icm, If the B-squad finds it they move up. But if my hunch is correct the A-squad will be in the right place. C and D will be replacing A and B in the morning. Good Luck.
I KNOW ABOUT THE FROG POND, TOO
Whats up late nighters......just trying to interpret your zone areas....just b cuz all these things correlate it doesnt say which area it could be in... thay are all a block away of each other...
thanks kitty
hound - my guess is that we don't REALLY know where in the park yet, just stay away from the slide and the snow sculptures for sure. Don't even need a clue for that one
ok, I really am going now. Nite all
destiny....what you` talkin about"!
I am gonna go to bed, Nite you all, i'll be at Como tomorrow! *Poof*
lucrative = a lit curve ???? Just trying to help you all while I sit home and hopefully see you on the news!
haks bee soup
lori ihope you dont wake the little ones up w all that noise in your head
J & L I like that too!
I welcome people to call me an idiot, but I don't understand the mocha thing. I am extemely embarrassed, but please help me out. Someone please reply!! I promise I won't find the med. Although this is pretty obvious.
I wish my little one wasn't sick so I could be there too! Maybe I'll try to talk my hubby into talking atleast half the day off. What time do you guys think would be better 7am-1pm or 1pm-7am
A- clue #8 says- adding cocoa to a cup of mocha COcoa/ MOcha = COMO
hey angeli...i didnt either but if you spell cocoa and mocha together it would be coCO(a)MOcha....the middle would spell como.. i gues
COcoa MOcha
COMO get it?
id say go out in th morni`ng lori....he can watch the little one...
now do you get it angelic......? Como?....Que?....
If I get him to call in half a day he could stay home but I would have to be home by 12:30 at the latest, can you imagine how hard it will be to leave?????
Thanks so much Clu-hound and kitty! I am screaming right now. I was trying too hard to read something really deep into it. I appreciate your help!! I was out at como tonight near the trolley car. There was about 20 people looking around.
leae where....como......? not if you found it.!!!!!
Just got back from como, tons of people there, oh and if your interested we saw 2 news vans there so take that for what its worth.
was that by the minigolf area....?
I wonder if I could get him to come right home at 1:00 he'd be here by 1:30, and I could be at Como by 1:45. And the way I've got this planned 80% of it will already be dug for me!!
Good night !!!!!! JC.....what were you doing at como....? dont you have angels for that stuff...
Lol well Even i like to dig into the fun once in awhile.
so.....como..huh.......? ok sounds good to me
looks like the young folks went to bed huh? anyone else still up
Well I supose I should goto bed now so I can CREATIVELY convience my husband to take at least part of the day off tomorrow. Good night and good luck.
back at u
About how many at Como? est.
crouching tiger hidden dragon...! GREat show!
if your a homo take como and wake up feeling yourself
?? I don't know Kitty but it seems nobody is left in here.
right now at como? ithink she said 20
Much more than 20
Still hope there is something left for me dig tonight.
m out also God bless good night
Kitty how long are you going to be on tonight?
Until my partner gets off of work, maybe another 30-40 mins. Then we'll out and dig until there's light!
I just returned from como and there's about 250 or so people there.
Stone, where are they all?
Well I'm going to go drive by, I can't stop and dig because I have to take care of the kids tomorrow and a tired Mommy makes a crabby mommy, but if your still here I'll give you a better guess of #'s of people out there and where they are. I really wish I had a digging partner right about now though!
What areas of Como are looking good to you all?
west picinic gronds area. Kitty save you're energy for later these clues simpley do not give enough info yet.
Ya know, I think this clue does more than target Como......There's omething else in it.
dam its been found
are you sure medallion master
Mix cocoa and mocha -->cocoamocha-->Como a coach an anagram
Too late, I guess
hellllooo anyone out there
was out at como a lotta yelling u never know??? so much space im thinking not found
it has been found huh
why do you say it's been found?
Anyway, I think the clue points to "Como" and "a coach". Does anyone know if McMurray was a coach?
oh i thought some thought they found it already
I was out there wed and early sat in early morn so much ground to cover lots of people were digging at the baseball fields
not likely- it's going to be like 2 years ago when they almost had to spell it out for us. I'm willing to bet it's not at Como either, although I have no idea where it is.
lot of people some are high never know what's the truth
oh well its nice to know i came close
lotta diggin left to do big park still have time
I always figure it isn't found until it's official. Over the years I've seen a lot of rumors fly when it gets crowded.
Hi guys. I just called and the medallion has not been found yet.
dont you think its in the west picnic area though lots of clues seem to fit how come your still not out there MM?
Thanks BR, how many people out there?
Is anyone thinking that it may not be at Como but at another park on Como ave? Not that I've found one that works, yet...
Why do you think it has been found?
was there, their is so much ground to cover u could dig for weeks
Hello??
hello
I was diggin by the trolley shoveling all the snow down to sidewalk thats hard work, but it would be worth it. When are you going back out there MM?
Why does everyone think it has been found?
BR I thought someone mentioned it was but no evidence yet I guess until we hear official word no one knows
in the mourning so i can see, what,s totaly screwed up the west side of the park is north acording to my compass
mm posted that it had been found. I don;t think it has.
Relax Beth it was only a joke.....:-)
Beth, MM said there was shouting out at Como and thought someone found it.
I thought it was at Como a few clues ago.now it's official!
the documentory people were shooting someone pretending to find it .
heard people yelling like they always do but u never know!!!!
People do that crap every year. The Pioneer Press says it has not been found as of right now.
smile you're on candid camera sh*t
Has anyone thought about the area where the rides are in the summer- that could be the riding around part.
Good Night all, dream of treasures.....

I hope it has not been found yet. I haven't even really had the time to dig yet! I have been looking for over 10 years and I know that there are people thatb have been looking longer but I had hope!
jessica i think your right
there were people digging there today, but i dont think theyd put it there
Yea, if its found tonight or tomorrow, the clue writer will have some explaining to do...I thought it was supposed to last longer than last year!
I'd be happy just to help someone find it this year. I've been looking for the last 6 years but this year I'm 8 months pregnet and on bed rest. :(
Just got back from Como... *looks for Allison's prediction speech* hehe =)
One by one I saw people as they figured out where to go and trickle to where I've been sitting for days.
Whoever it was an hour or so ago, Beaver Lake Boy or whoever, you're in the wrong business if you haven't looked and found where they all line up at Como so far. (I've found 2 potential locations.)
think u should get out bed thats what got u there now LOL
Thanks for the advice- I told my hubby that if I think I know where it is he's loading me up in a sled and draging me to where he sholud dig.
can picture that lolrof
It hasn't been found yet. The crops of people are looking in the entirely wrong location.
People, it's not going to be on a walkway or a trail. It's not going to be next to a tree, it's not going to be anywhere that people regularily traffic through. Those places are prone to be groomed, cleaned, shoveled, and had their snow removed to a landfill by now. The press knows this, and they're not *that* ill in the brain.
It's going to be at least 3 yards away from an object, under the snow, where you can line up several factors provided by the clues by sight, perhaps more factors street/relative locationwise, and you'll have to give a margin of error of 10-20 yards to dig.
Well, Matt, if you've been at the right spot for days, why haven't you found it? :) Maybe you're in the wrong business, too... (j/k)
oh no medallion baby gee what park??? hahaha
...that leaves up to 628 square feet to dig, provided you have the absolute location nailed. That's why thousands of people can look and not find it day after day with good clues. :)
cabingirl: :) I'm not going to stick shovels into the ground without a location. As I just said, 628 square feet of deep snow is not a walk in the park, especially when I have no specifics to go by :)
So who is the person that posted the wrong clue at 11 pm? I am really ticked! I was upset at the time (and other nites) that someone would suggest that a clue someone would post here would be the incorrect one. I guess I lost just a little of my trust tonight. Why would someone do that? Jees - I have been all around the city! I just would like to know who posted it, so I know who not to trust in future (I hate even saying that).
Good point, Matt...that's why I'm not digging right now, too.
poor kid will have medallion withdrawls, ever time the clues start, good grades.want's to shovel all the time, and always get the paper
dont like the west picnic area much, but its definatly big enough for people to dig for 4 more days.i like 2 other areas better- the same 2 as u matt, but we'll see. have done some digging in all 3 spots
well all, I'm off to bed. Have a good night and good luck.
Fortunately, I've gotten my homework done ahead of time, and now all that I have to do is theorize solutions to the clues at hand.
It make me feel so much better to know the park and narrow it down from there instead of finding all the possible combinations in all the parks, and simply figuring which has the best chance. Although, it's pretty lame that they were so direct this clue. All the people who were certain that the medallion was elsewhere are discouraged, and all the people who chose Como on their list of favorites for this year (me included) were saying, "Hey, give me something I can USE, not ratty reinforcement..."
They should have given the park out on thursday night or friday, far too many people are going to take work off on Monday/Tuesday because "We know where the park is! The 10,000 is MINE!"
Oh well. Back to the drawing board.
annette- thats terrible of someone to do! i can imagine how id feel
Weren't you here at 11 pm when that was posted? Next time I will wait until midnite. Anyway, now that I have my anger out.......hello everyone.
went to the paper tonight. did someone post the right one right away?
Hey Annette, if I remember correctly the persons name was Brandon something. At least, Brandon admitted to posting a false clue. But you may want to go back and look to be sure. I wouldn't want you to hate someone for no reason.
I am wearing my "I found the treasure hunt medallion" sweatshirt the Davolis gave me to bed!
havent slogged thru the 900 new posts since i left at 10:30, i'd never get to bed!
hi jake. i hope it gives you goodluck
I haven't figured out how to go back in the clues to an estimated time. But if someone admitted to it, I may be able to forgive him, but perhaps not believe him next time...I think I pretty much know who wouldn't do that around here, and after a few days you get to "seeing" the same folks...Anyway I went to the capitol w/ the governing clue, and looked around at all the war stuff, and the Peace Officers memorial, then I walked thru the skyway to the Radisson and went out to look at Kellogg Park. Oh well....unless it is narrowed down more I can't figure out where it may be.
annette it is at como
How can you be so sure? I just don't get that Mocha clue. I know alot of the other stuff points to Como, but some of it points to other parks - what does the mocha clue mean?
COcoa MOcha
Oops - boy am I dense or what? All I could think of is that it didn't make sense since a Cafe Mocha is a chocolate coffee.
didn't get it when i first read it- i was prepared to do some anagrams. but when i looked at it again i saw it. we're here to help.:)
ANNETTE B I'm very sorry that you bought into that clue. Please forgive me
I thought THAT was the fake clue, the other looked more real. If nothing else you could say I am in a fine fettle if that means healthy or whatever bcuz of all the walking I did tonight. I forgive you.
Good Evening and hello everyone!
I was so sure it was MLK. The clues just seemed to fit so well there. Of course, as always, it's a matter of interpretation.
Now we just need to get things lined up in Como. It's a huge park and tons of snow to move, but that medallion will be found. It always is.
Nensea - we owe you about 13 cents - remind us when you see us.
Hi Terry
hi terry, whats your thoughts on which area its in
T.V I just came back fromm Como you can rule out west picnic area.
Hi Annette and Marley King.
I feel clueless as to what part of the park - though I am thinking not on the Horton side of the West Picnic Grounds. There are three fire rings down there - but the rest of the clues aren't visible.
want to rule it out, but i cant. i like a couple other areas
I don't think you can totally rule out the West Picnic Grounds. The trolley and play ground are there.
My plan...
Get a good night's sleep.
Get up and really noodle those clues to a more specific part of the park.
Go do some digging.
Get the next clue.
Do some more digging.
Terry, do you know if that playground is new? its not in the guide
Do you think Circular thinking could have any reference to Golf greens ? Probably a reeeeal stretch, but I thought of it earlier tonight.
Como really is a showcase of a park. Maybe with the documentary folks here, the hiders thought that would be good place to have the hunt. I wonder if we had thought of that earlier, if we would have been all over the city.
I think golf links is a good noodle, actually. It's one of the better ideas that we've seen here imho.
Heh, there's a large set of possibilities that plague the entire south edge of Como.
Is McMurray field technically part of Como or not?
BS - Why rule out the West picnic area?
By the way, looks like Annette has a bone to pick with you.
dont dig in or on the golf course it has never been in one b-4.....
annette i think there could be a link/golf reference.
terry-good plan!
No one was digging at McMurray tonight. Doesn't mean it couldn't be there, but I didn't see anyone.
not on the golf course, but across from it is a good area
Heh, stay the hell AWAY from the golf course. I'm surprised that it's in the park without any directions to stay away from digging up the area of the festivities, too.
Can *ANYONE* tell me if McMurray field is/is not TECHNICALLY part of Como park? All the maps tell me yes, but the sign that says, "McMurray Field," on site doesn't mention Como park at all.
THIS is where you geniuses should be looking. I've fully explained myself several times as to why.
No - I would never go on a golf course, rest assured, but just thought it could be close to it. Also the "figure" reference - I guess I am taking it literally that it should be an actual number, and if one way is not a one-way street but #1, like in ball field #1, that is something I can't seem to shake either.
I'd like to think it might be down towards the lake...but with the obvious water and no water clue yet, it's hard to put it there.
The only connection - and sorry about this as it's late and I'm running on caffeine here - is that Cocoa and Mocha are liquids and the Como might be not only referring to the park, but to the lake. I doubt it, but just noodling possibilities.
Hiyall!
Finally made it home, kids are in bed and I'm BEAT.
We looked at the area up on the hill above the lakeside pavillion first. It has a good feeling in a lot of ways, but I don't think it would be put in such an inaccessable location.
Met up with some friends digging at the West picnic grounds, but they were down by the fire rings. I don't like that area for hunting. Just doesn't seem right.
Hey Annette B. thanks for forgiving me for the fake clue, I really feel bad about it.
Terry: you weren't there all night, I saw at least 10 people stroll through the field. It's rough ROUGH terrain. I wouldn't say that it'd be there in the field, but on the south ridge? That's a possibility.
The picnic grounds and anywhere near the festivities (sculptures, etc. etc.) are very sour in my mouth.
And I stress again, there are *so many people looking for this thing, they wouldn't hide it remotely close to the golf course. The rule of margin of error will statistically prove that people will spill out into places that have absolutely no meaning to the hunt. People would dig up the golf course. I wouldn't be surprised if a few winners will do it this year anyway.
There are baseball fields where the snow sculptures, the slide and the maze thing is out there. Putting the medallion in the same area would be nutz.
Is there a baseball type area in the West Picnic Area? Seems to me there used to be at least one towards the back of the area near what is now the octagon shaped shelter in that area.
"Traveling the old way again" could it mean maybe an old way into Como? like and old road??????
mom that is a hard walk up that hill, but it did feel right to us. maybe in the depression?
Terry: The SE corner of the lake is a huge possibility.
The one way street around the lake.
The E and W parkways join together there. Which one is right?
Ryde (riding around) street runs perpindicular to the parkway (which is my westernmost consideration to that area at this point in time.)
The bike riding path around the lake.
Victoria (victorious) St. runs to the corner.
The cornerstone of the Ramsey county courthouse is there, too, Ramsey sure could be a man of mettle. I'm not so sure about this one...
Well, like I said, there is a positive as I did get plenty of walking in, and I haven't been getting to the "Y" as much as I should - geez that reminds me, Monday I have an appt w/ a trainer there.
yes tv
...not to mention gateway drive (linking) is also along the edge of the lake.
Cluemaster Annette said she forgave me so simmer down. I don't know for sure if you can rule it out but I'd be willing to bet a steak dinner it's not in the west picnic area.
MK - You mean by the pavillion?
It was my first instinct going to Como last night....I really liked the fact that there's a circular one way road up there. But there does seem to be a lot more to tie in with the clues by the picnic area.
The treasure needs to be *out of view* from the circular linking, btw. That's why I don't think it's by the fire rings.
Matt - That would mean the train is an old way of traveling. Black Bear Crossing is just down Como there as well.
Brandon: I highly doubt it's in the picnic area as well. Plain silly.
Mom - I agree. Those fire rings just didn't seem the right fit.
BS - Should of put a :) by my post. My bad
Just got back from diggin up the West area. That's why I was asking. My backs killing me:(
Brandon - LOL
Well, I best drag these tired arms and legs upstairs to bed. I know 3 little kids that are gonna be awake in a few hours!
Well, I hate to leave good company, but it's way past time to be in bed dreaming happy medallion finding dreams.
So...thanks all for the noodling help, goodnight and SCMDs!!
Goodnight and SCCMD's (sweet como cooler medallion dreams)!
Terry: It's a tossup between there and McMurray, the clues fit around McMurray decently, actually.
Coach Rd. (old way of travelling)
Depression (the field is very much that)
The huge parking ramp to the N across the tracks has lots of space... kinda shaky, but acceptable.
Wynne ave (victorious)
The man of steel escapes me all over this place, though.
Above all, my logic also gives weight to how the place looks and feels. It doesn't feel good anywhere else, yet. :)
you can see the first bank from the top, and theres that sliding area-a depression, the hamm memorial waterfall, and of corse the circular one-way.
anyone know who nusbaumer is?
like the ryde/victoria idea too matt
Nite folks...the clues may make more sense later this morning after a little rest. I may head over to Mickey's for a little breakfast right now. Boy do these clues work a person up.
