"don't want to keep reading and posting the same stuff over and over, so they don't bother any longer."

That pretty much sums it up. I don't know how many people have asked "when does the next clue come out?". Or those that come in and say "So, what park is it hidden in". Like we'd tell em if we knew!

:-)

Anyway, like you said, take it or leave it. I understand both sides.

Bah, I posted a message and the board ate it. :(

I am going to be hunting tonight at Como first, unless the clue points me elsewhere. I won't say exactly where... I will say that mcmurray is close, and that I'm avoiding the festivities like the plague.

StepDogg: You're right. :) The clues apply to my yard.

Anyone who wants to find something in a certain area will always be successful.... Especially with clues as vague as these. Highland still works, to a degree. :)

I believe tonight's clue will cause the frenzy.

The trick so far, as far as I'm concerned, is to look and see which are fitting the best, and which are fitting similar to the hunts of the past. www.coolercrew.com has clue listings for a barrel of hunts from the 1950s to today, and explanations for most of the recent ones. I study them every year, repeatedly. I look and see the patterns, I crunch the numbers. I solve the problems with *science*, as much as everyone hates it :) I nailed Cherokee, I nailed Conway.. with a combination of planning, *talking*, and crunching the data. I missed last year due to not being in the area at the time...

I will nail the park this year with the same tools :) And so far, Como seems to work the best, so far.

Join my treasure hunting club at http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/theallisonwonderland for future hunts during the year (well at least 1)

Ok, I'm back. Had to look some information up (unrelated to this). Personally I can't say I've noticed a significant difference in the Cooler between now and a few years ago other than that this year we seem to have fewer people coming in and being completely obnoxious like we did in past years. I don't know, maybe that was needed to bring the other people together. It sounds like the implication is that I'm somehow responsible for this degradation. I don't see that. I've discussed my ideas several times already. Maybe I don't go over it from the beginning every time a new person comes in but I think I tend to say more than I should, not less. Last year on clue 7 I came out on here and said right away what it meant and some people got bothered by that. So I made my Yahoo club as a place where I could discuss what I wanted in relation to the hunt. Also, I plan on doing other hunts during the year (well at least one) and since no one comes here after the hunt is over, it helps to have people join the club. Its all for the purpose Of creating fun. There's no charges associated with my club. As for taking credit for ideas, as far as I'm concerned I'm stating my ideas and if someone doubts my credibility, I may point out my track record to inspire confidence. Personally, I tend to not be a very healthy person and I can't do a lot of digging, so finding the Medallion, even if I'm in the right park is mostly a matter of luck, and I tend to not have that sort of luck. But if I'm the first person to say the right right park in here, that's a bit of a consolation prize. It makes me happy anyway. Beyond that, I don't see what you're talking about with people not being collaborative. Everyone has their ideas and once they have them, yes they like to think they are right. I do remember Cherokee where people seemed to work together for a group concensus, but there were fewer people back then a concensus was easier to get at. I still talk to people I've never met before all the time on a variety of mediums. Michelle and I met through this last year and we started a singles club together. I just don't see it as a horrible place, in many ways I think its improved.

I have to tell you, I really like MLK. REALLY like it. I hope I'm not wrong about it. I liked it on Thursday, fell away from it for a bit - but today going back and putting it together, it seems to fit all the way around.

Beer....Medallion....$10,000.....Better Beer

Vague is an understatement in my opinion :)

Clue 1 - In St. Paul....hmmmm ok.

Clue 2 - No Private land...that helps (well the first 2 never do)

Clue 3 - Circular thinking. Uhhhh, baseball? basketball? soccer? firepits? about 1,000,000 other thing that could refer to circular.

Clue 4 - East and west.....hmmm, I gotta 50/50 chance on this one :)

Clue 5 - No, a man of steel can't be real....can he?? Men of mettle. Geez...let's see. every park has about 500 monuments/streets/whatever named after people.

Clue 6 - Lots of space. Well even a small space is lots of space when a fricking medallion is buried. Riding can be fun....yep, it sure can. Doesn't help me any.

Clue 7 - HUH????

Just my humorous take on the clues to get everyone fired up for #8!!!

I may have a bit of a following, though I don't find that surprising. If I was someone who wasn't good at figuring out clues or maybe just didn't like to, just liked to go out there and look for treasure, I might choose someone I percieved as trustworthy to give me an idea of where to look. I like the puzzle aspect of it. You probably do. But I think there are lots who don't, but still want the treasure and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Beyond that, there's plenty of people who still think I'm totally clueless, at least this year.

There's a playfield toward the extreme left end of McMurray. I don't think it's exactly in McMurray, but... well... This is technically still part of Como, right? (One way road, E/W parkways, riding trail)

The entire area is a dug out depression. The bleachers are actually carved into the hill. There's a broomball field there, a <x>ball diamond onhand.

Coach Road. Wynne. Various other clues. Take a look.

Quickly before I leave.

First...no park clues. No trees. No picnic stuff. No water.

Clark Kent = Superman = man of steel = Kent St.

Man of Mettle = MLK.

Large space = ball fields at the corner of Dale and Concordia = circular thinking

Rondo = memory lane = trolley line = Concordia = one way going east = frontage road for I-94 = busiest street.

Thanks, Terry. Will have to look that over. Does anyone know if PP actually hands out the paper at 11 PM. I just called the medallion hot line just in case I missed something and it said that the paper would be out a 11 PM. If this is so, does anyone place it on here before it is actually posted?

Don't have to worry about parks closing at night during the hunt because it's understood that if the medallion is hidden there, the park will remain open. However, the police will be patroling the area quite often. The rules change for the hunt.

matt: yet another take that may be worthwhile investigating matt (that i've spewed here 100 times or so) is the fact that lexington once ran farther east of its current path in the vicinity of the pavilion. the area is also home to the highest hill in the park (seems like we don't want to be depressed), around which there is a one-way circular street. there's a link here with the old way of travel, too.

Kent Street runs into Marydale also. And Marydale park is one big cirle around Loeb lake. Also, and old way of travelling could refer to the railroad tracks that run by there.

Or, what about the man of steel clue referring to the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz, whereas the Lion gets plenty of mettle (courage) in the long run.

schlett, i'm doubting the old way of travel is the railroad. amtrak's been quite modernised (though their derailment record leaves much to be desired :). more than likely it either refers to horse/buggy travel, or something abandoned: closed street, relocated street, possibly an abandoned railroad track turned bike trail?

By the way, the film crew told me today that people aren't calling them to say where they are digging so they're just kind of wandering around randomly. I suppose in a day or two it won't matter, but if you plan on being somewhere they have a message number, 612 676 2147 where you can tell them where you'll be and when. rich, i wasn't trying to imply anything with that, just making a fact. although the emphasis you put in the second question reminds me. sailing is the second oldest form of travel known to man when you think about it.

I agree with ReggMan. That's the location of the East and West Picnic grounds, too. Circular thinking=the 3 stone firepits at West grounds. The treasure, however, is out of view of these, up from the depression, at the playground, where I'll have my smile. Circular drive

as much as i'd like to trust the clue, brandon posted it at 2259, and mom hasn't been all that great at getting the clues out in a timely fashion lately. but, since i am gonna trust it, it's as useless as the last 7 for narrowing anything down.
