well can someone lead me in the right direction on where to go today- I really want to dig but I would like to be in the correct park.
LL - I had Cooler duty last night with getting the clue on line. G might know
Leah - I'm with you but has anyone determined exactly wihtout a doubt where the correct place is to be?
Do they still do the carriage rides out of rice park?
green - Charles Atlas was a strong man, but was he ever specifically referred to as "man of steele"?
And are you referring to Charles Ave? If so, which part?
traveling the old way? well HOW old...walking? carriages? model T? old highway renamed? WHAT? aaaahhhh
Carriages might make a big haul? could it be making it to cty hall--is that not where yhe parade route also ends today?
Just getting going this AM, and want to start positive.
JAZMINE, HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY!! Hope you find the Med.
maybe it's on an Amish farm somewhere, thewy still use horse and buggy- sorry I just had to say that.
Wasn't Charles Atlas a real guy, though? I like the Rondo idea, but I have some other thoughts.
Memory Lane has nothin' to do with a street...
Vipe, Atlas was the strongest man in the world. He held the world on his shoulders. But he was mythical - from mythology - and never xsisted. 1) You're reading too much into The Clue; 2) You're not paying attention to "Look for his name around our deal." "Deal" is "lead" bockwards. Now, if you look at the LEAD letters in that clue... You get "ATLAS."
But Charles Atlas was real. Charles Avenue won't work. Been there, done it. But if you want to noodle that, go ahead.
So, drop the Atlas and run with the "Charles"!
Then there is that area at como where everything is dedicated in memory of someone or something and an old road the used to go through but doesn't anymore.....
good morning...could they mean by "memory lane" a popular street that was but is now a freeway
THE MAN OF STEEL HAS GOT TO BE SUPERMAN! COULD THE ONE WITH METTLE BE LOIS LANE?( TERRI HATCHER) HATCH RUNS INTO LEXINGTON FAIRLY CLOSE TO COMO
Referring the "Mettle", are there any parks with streets around them with the names "Christopher", "Reeves", "Clark", or "Kent"? Just a thought.
Okay, I'm letting my ideas out of the bag. I'm trusting you to deal with this information wisely, and buy me a beer when it is all over.
We're still finding the area/park!
Memory Lane = History Center
Statue = near at statue
Man of steel = the statue itself
East and West = division of st. paul's east/west streets
traveling the old way = streetcars (as in the street car tunnel off near cathedral
Guess where I'll be today.
G - Been my thoughts as well. No bites yet though (bytes)
I wonder if any of the PP people sign up in here to chat and throw us off.
Where are we digging today
KENT RUNS INTO MARYLAND AND WHEELOCK PKWY APPROX 1/2 MILE FROM COMO
Your probably right Debbie - Every time someone mentions the Fairgrounds! :)
Heading down to my digging area about 10:30. See you guys by the Josias King placque (one of the men of mettle mentioned on this statue).
Has anyone tried ordering a hunt t-shirt from the url up above? I keep getting some type of java script error when I fill in the blanks. I'd really like one, though.
I am headed over to Harriet. I am still going with my very first instinct, the rebirth of the park, stones for people to buy and put what they want on them. Example: Two people engaged, bought a stone, put their name on it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAZMINE!!!!!!!
Tim..did Jake tell you that you left your Guide in my car?
Happy Birthday Jazmine! 5 whole years! Wow!!!!
Green - I sent ya my number. Feel free to use it.
What do you think guide
It's funny how easily you all lose your guides, but Tim, losing in by car? Circular thinking?????
Maybe the mention of bank account in clue 3 was talking about the river bank at Hidden Falls.
88..were on a wing and prayer so far.
I've been to Como twice and still don't get that "feeling" I get when I'm in the right place. The clues can fit, but I'm still troubled by the lack of park like clues. No trees. No picnic tables or shelters. No water. No obvious bike path clues....etc. etc.
Can some one tell us how to get rid of delete button next to our message?
I'm with you TV.
C'ster... I've been away from the putter for a bit and I'm not sure to what you're referring, but I think I do.
Ter, I used that number and I got putter static. You were on line!!! Whatizz the udder one?
Hay, Guide!!! We can't find The Med so we over compensate and act out by losing your books!
I think this noodling burns more brain cells than a whole barrel o'beer.
Green - The putter is not connected. I'm on the dedicated line.
Oh. And so I called Mom, Ter.
Oh!!! Wait! I'll call you now!!!!
(DOH! [smacking self in forehead])
Otay!
And this will give you sparklies!!!!!
sparklies? I want the warm fuzzies of holding the med in my hand...
Hi everone! Anyone going out digging? If so, where?
Otay.
So no sparklies.
Whatever!
Hattie's all taken care of and chowing on kibble - in addition to her wet food. Kits and Moms got full bellies.
As soon as the spirit moves me... I'll fro underwater and take care o'me!
Just got off the phone, hence the delay. I hope to get down to the park today sometime after 1:00. I have dad duty right now, and I think its too cold to drag these little ones out to dig.
I'm going out this afternoon, probably to check out Como and some of the other parks. Just do some scouting, seeing how the clues fit.
Hay, Jake!
I don't know. May lead the crew(s) to a new park 2day...
Yes, I said dig...???
Here's a Charlies for you... how about Charlies Schultz... maybe we have to follow where all the statues of Snoopy went.... just a noodle
Green - I like the noodling. Sorry it doesn't give me sparklies. I still have a hunch it's in a non park place. I'm going to do some traveling today to see if a couple of other ideas make any sense at all.
'Kids... Did MJ get ahold o'you yet???
Hey Jake - Thanks for calling in the clue last night. Boy what a team!!
I'm off to take the kid to Grandma's and then the Discin' tourney, then diggin at Capitol Mall, Kellogg, VRC, Newell, Phalen & Como.
Looks like my day is planned. See ya out there.
HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY JAZ....DIG IT!!!! WISH I WAS 5 AGAIN :)
Snowball 2, I slogged through yesterday's posts. Thanks, I kind of like the nickname.
Green- No, haven't heard from or seen MJ. I am still waiting I guess.
See you cluemaster!
Steve, I like this. "Scattered trees and picnic tables."
'Kids... Otay. I'm not sure, but I think she just met you/knows you from last year and was/is worried that you weren't getting on here for some reason.
Hang. I'll call her...
As I said, Jake...three days of walking from tree to tree.
Isn't there a big ol'steer on the State Flag???
Where are you going with this State flag, verde?
So what parks have people narrowed it down to? If any.
CaCoMe, are you out there?
Thanks. Last year I don't think I was on as much, partly because it was over before it even started it seemed.
No where, Guide. I'm leaving it on the flag pole. But I admit, would Bee nice to carry in the parade!
The state flag has a steer?
Are you marching today, Verde?
See! Ter's asking, too!!!
It may, but if it does, it isn't very large!
Is anyone using a realtime chat program like Yahoo messenger?
Anyone think that bank account from clue #3 was talking about the river bank at Hidden Falls?
I knew this Hunt was small steaks...
Estaban, nope. I'm just noodling "steer clear." That's all.
Just got on...any parks narrowed down--is the Capital Mall still in the running...thanks
I believe its better known as an ox.
Guide - that's it!
Oh.
Please.
Do not be rude. No talk o'potatoe salad, picnic hams, OR STEERS.
Thank you.
I have created a yahoo messenger room called "Treasure Hunt" for people who want to chat in real time
Thanks, Will.
Thizz is 'real time' enuff for me... I'm so sleep deprived this is as fast as I can go!
green, Yes, but this is a very hard format to chat in. Thought I would just give it a shot.
I agree with Terry about it not being in a traditional park this year.
I have really been trying to figure out clue #3 as it says " if you can figure out this clue, your bank account won't be shrinking" but I didn't get much out of it....
I was so sold on MLK until the lots of space clue. That's a rec center area...non park.
TV..a parks a park.
If it were in a larger park, such as Como, would it be identified now? It seems with the larger parks, they're identified quicker, with whats left being where in the park it is. The smaller parks take quicker to identify, but they'll give where it is in th park sooner. The thing that gets me is "a place with lots of space". This would signify a larger park, if its a park. But we can't seem to identify it as being a certain park.
Guide - I have a couple of other non park ideas to check out today. It could very well be at Como. I just don't get the ahhhhhhhh.....everything fits here perfectly....feeling I usually get when we're in the right place.
As sick as it sounds, I am looking at the map of Newell park.
Where have the Camo-crew been looking? Are they still at Marydale?
okay, the old ox trail ran essentially up 61 to warner, up jax, then westward along st anthony/1-94. HOWEVER.......last year the single word "serve" was the keyword to unlock other clues.......i speculate this years key word is deploy.....just a hunch. interpreting other clues based on "deploy" takes me to a vast, yet untraditional park....untraditional due to its joint-ownership agreement. hopefully, this will allow me (and perhaps geographically inclined coolerheads)to strike it rich far far far from the crowds at phal, cHOMO, bc, et all. cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure now everyone starts to think NEWELL......i said this days ago and everyone thought i was nuts
See, I still have this hunch about Marydale, but have not actually driven out there to look, maybe this afternoon...but then some of the other clues don't fit Marydale, either....grrrrrr
Ace..lets here your clue by clue.
I have created a yahoo messenger room called "Treasure Hunt" for people who want to chat in real time.
Neverfound, The delete message will go away after a certain time. That is only there in case you want to delete what you typed.
Never said I thought it was Newell, I am just looking at the map.
Good morning everyone. Seems everyone is still lost. (Except me, mwah ha ha). But then again I always have some sort of theory.
Got any fresh theories this morning, Allison?
Allison - Your theories are always interesting.
Allison, I'm not lost!
I just don't know a cow from a bock or a steer!
Its not at Newell, its not at Como. Its not even in Phalen or Valley (though Valley is starting to look good compared to this place!)
Green - Just 4 words
Cow paper towel holder.
Clue #7 is exactly what I said it was last night at the paper. Just took me a bit in a warm room to look through the Guide and find it.
What do u mean, Allison....
I think its in Canal Park...where you can travel the old way again...by horse and buggy.
Well, SSP sure know their cows, steers, etc., (stockyard); maybe a SSP park: Kaposia---or is SSP not tech. St. Paul
#1 tougher duel(dual) #2 no statues or golf courses #3 circular thinking (start where it ends.. ends where it starts(our dual) #4 possibly the opposite side of Newell #5 man of mettle(pierce butler) #6 in dove box #7 memory lane.need not explain....refers to clue 1 speaking of newell and our cruel fate
Clue #7 is giving us a specific street name. The name is an "old way of travelling".
Wonderland...I'm waiting....
Hey, was anybody here lined up outside PP last night about 10:30? I forgot my wallet there and had to go in. I thought about stopping by, but wasn't sure if I would meet friendly faces or...
Eags - I think that works!
And this street name happens to run into the same park as the man with mettle.
do you really think it is at "AA"?? Allison??
old fort road?
Allison - You mean by ark? 2 by 2?
Time to look through one of my own books.
Anyone think it may be at Arlington?
Riding around refering to the bike trail near by??
Two points determine a line and two streets determine a park. Yes I do think that Ace.
Good hunch...who wants to give us the clue by clue?
after yesterday's marathon it could be at any park..
What Guide left out of his guide which I discovered last night in visiting it, is that coming up on the back part of the park is Clark St.!
drove by this morning.... gonna be a good dig if it is!! :O)
EAGS!!!!!!
the vulcan's are at hidden, maybe they could search for us while we chat?...
I'm out. See you at the park.
green!!!
Allison--can u share the nme of this park??
I did a clue by clue in my club. I should get going though and get dressed. Supposed to be out there at 11.
Well, pooh.
Ittiz right by Swede Hollow, too!
steve- do you have another book? I lost mine yesterday. and I am lost without it.
He's got YOURs, Timmer.
Thanks for the info, I think this is exactly want the clue writers wanted, not to be found by clue #7. I'm still thinking big park! circular thinking, meaning wheel. wheelock parkway leads to both como and phalen. wonderful town? Could this be Maryland? this also leads to both! Also duel they want us thinking two!
Maybe when I get back if I haven't found it, or you can check my Yahoo club, or maybe someone else here will mention it. Nothing personal, but once you mention it its there for everyone to see who slogs through.
going to be there at 11 Allison??
Yes 11, that's the plan. I left a message for the film crew, might call them again to be sure.
YIPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
And Clark's by Swede Hollow (depression), too!
AA's got no riding/bike path...
Swede Hollow does...
it does have a bike path "around "as in near it tho
Allison--I cked your site, but wasn't sure how to navigate to get more specific ideas;
SH has no playing fields or playground.
But SH does have the "plank of pine" that Allison said "base" means...
Wood Place.
But "Atlas" doesn't fit; no east/west...
I don't think ittiz SW.
does anyone know what the old stone circle is about at swede hollow?
Not me.
I would not rule out a big park, because they have not mentioned the park yet, look at the old clues; 1993 hf no mention till clue 10. 1990 como no mention till clue 8. study
anybody rem como in 1990,the farout dog pound ref
I remember that.
They have as much as said which park it is in already & I think I Know which area. the clues become obvious when you look at them as a whole...
Mornin' everyone!
Care to share, Gonna...I am stumped this year!
vague clues very vague mayby one words means something
It's at St Paul's showcase park....
Marley--is clue#3 also vauge that says if you figure out THIS clue, your bank account, etc.? What would be the main word here?
Whats SH?
swede hollow
? maybe not that vague ?
I have created a yahoo messenger room called "Treasure Hunt" for people who want to chat in real time.
what is AA?
Kinda quiet in here... where'd everybody go?????
Nappin'?
Diggin'?
http://www.utm.edu/research/iep/t/time.htm
that's all I'm saying.
Where exactly is Sweed Hollow located??
Is it across the street from Metro State U??
Going out to dig now. I will have the medallian by 4pm. Thanks for all the subtle help.
Stalion, so what exactly does the time site mean to you? I looked at it, but ?? :)
AA= Arlington Arkwright Park
Perhaps it was a diversion? To get a head start?
And THAT'S saying a LOT, Stal!
I'd still be sitting here this time next Hunt if I dug into that!
Marly, did you get Atlas/Charles Atlas outta #5?
no?
but i like it
Otay.
Everyone is either sleeping or out trying to make the clues fit to a certain park.
I know, it is SOOOO quiet!!! There were so many people in here a bit ago... now they are all gone. I still have no flippin' idea where the heck this dang puck is.... Ughhhh!!!!
YES to both, Kids!
Go join them. The film crew's at AA and then will be heading over to Highland to film the frisbee toss thingy.
Couple of Coolers are for Swede Hollow now.
This year's clues seem more vague then ever. Nothing really concrete to go on so far.
green. where is AA park--could not find in Hudson or Friends of Park web page? thanks
They are making the clues harder this year because the hunt was so short last year.
I'm like 2 minutes away from Highland right now, but it still doesn't have me sold on it being there. Still scoping things out, trying to read between lines, play my clues backwards looking for satanic messages, and banging my head against a brick wall.
I agree Kids... so vague. SSP-- AA is located east of 35E between Maryland and Arlington.
The clues are going to be harder because the hunt was so short last year, plus its the 50th anniversary, so they'd like this to go on for a while I'm sure. Also, with our little cooler crew expanding and growing each year, its easier to discuss ideas, and thus find the medallion faster (you would think).
Why Highland, Kids..?
Whats that ssp?
I just came back from scoping "AA"... only one couple there... for all the talk you would think there would be more people searchin it!!
Thanks, Jordean...not familiar with that park; is it adjacent to Swede Hollow? It must be small, and clues point to a vast area, unless AA is connected to Swede Hollow?
hey y'all...what's new today>?
Ace--think AA is not in the running? but is it connected to SH?
ssp, I think at this point, there are a LOT of parks still in the running.
Kids--why are you looking in Highland?
I was just out at Harriet Island...lots of random digging space.
no it is not connected to SH....
Wow, I'm gone for 10 hours and everyone has changed their minds again and are now leaning toward AA and SH? This has been an amazing roller coaster ride to watch. I, of course, still like HF (can you tell when I pick a favorite I don't like to change my mind?). There still just doesn't seem to be enough from these clues to make me want to pick up a shovel and actually dig. Ugh!
I know, Kids! Highland has been tossed around, but everyone got all excited about SH this morning...something about clue 7 and a street called DeSoto running by SH
SSP, I was saying I don't really like Highland. I live 5-10 minutes away from it, and am fairly familiar with it,and the clues this year don't seem to fit it. So I'm not endorsing it too highly.
gggggrrrrrrrrrr.......this is so frustrating!
Your welcome SSP! I am not familiar with AA either. It was not listed in my Hudson map, so I pulled out the old Mpls/ St. Paul city map and that is how I found it. My Hudson doesn't have Swede Hollow in it either (and for this I paid $20.00?) lol so I do not know where SW is....
Ace... I would have thought there would be lots of people at AA??????? Think maybe they found it already? LOLOLOL :)
Same, Tiny; last year at this time, I had dug in like 3 parks by now; I haven't even put a shovel in my car yet! but I don't think it is buried this year....
SH is by Metro State University
I thought that it was specifically stated that it was buried. correct me if I'm wrong
no it is not connected to SH....
Jordean--check Friends of the Park website; you can get a pretty good map up and zoom in for street names, etc. ; don't know the exact address as it is bookmarked on my computer...
swede hollow doesn't have much open space. I just don't see how it could fit
thanks SSP!
Izzy--it was the "DeSoto" street and clue 7 that was discussed this am; and some old stone circle, back part of park has Clark st. and other stuff.
alright..I'm kinda seeing how that could work...the river references seem to fit as well.
Later....
swede hollow is the kind of park where you would find a body while youre digging! I dont think it would be there. What about harriet island?
I was just out at harriet island. It seems to fit..there's just way too much open space to pinpoint it
At this point, there is going to be a lot of "Hey, what about XXXX park?", and explanation of how it could fit. I don't think we have anything solid until the next clue comes out.
If you can't noodle, why don't you guys go get yourselves in a Doc-U-Ment-A-Ree?
As dear Eags says, "I'm off like a prom dress!"
See you guys in the parks!
anything could happen still
Yeh, I'm old...I used to actually have a couple DeSotos
'56 and a '58
push-button transmission and power everything !
know i was at harriet island last night & newell & phalen &mounds &highland park & even the fairgrounds (until i realized they werent in st paul...duh!). i like harriet island though! but it is kinda creepy down there in the dark!
I suppose it would be. I was there most of the morning. not many people, but it's pretty dispursed yet. I can't settle on one park either
clark & desoto street dont run all the way down to sh. but they are both at arlington & arkwright which is where my mom said it would be this year probably hoping since she lives across the street!
I've got to get going again. Happy pondering to all! I'll see you out there!
If you have Yahoo Messenger go to "Treasure Hunt:1" for more of a realtime chat.
I will be in and out of there
They just finished a major renovation of Harriet Island. Multi-million dollar project. So I'm inclined to think they would not want us digging up Harriet Island yet. All that grass is new.
hey every one!!!!!!!!
Just have to throw this out there....'memory lane' Como, Perry Como???
this new treasure hunters guide is pretty cool
I'm convinced that 'memory lane' is Buehla(spell?)Lane behind McMurray field. It was the old strolling path to Como that used to lead to a bridge and garden. The 'old way to travel'is the train tracks on the other side of McMurray field.McMurray is not defined as Como park but is 'linked' to it.It is not defined as a park.It is by definition a ball field and the whole thing is sunken and large. You can see all the other clues clearly from there also.
Anyone out there? Bueller? Bueller?
Buehla,Buehla? I'm here med kids! Where are you now?
Right now I'm at the library, because its a better resource than my cruddy computer at home. I'm thinking of heading out in a bit though, go do some firsthand exploring and noodling, maybe meet up with some coolerheads out in the trenches
Med kids have gone through my guide and rethunk the clues,I still say McMurray field. It all seems to fit better than anywhere else. Not saying I could be wrong, but I'm really convinced.
I have a feeling tonight's clue will be a breakthrough one. But I've also had that feeling about the last two clues...
I've taken Allison's theory into consideration but I can't seem to place all the clues there.Besides he had me at Valley for a coupla days........dat wascally wabbit!
Allison's theory? About AA?
Yeah AA,I don't like it........it seems like too much over thinking to me.I've made that mistake before, some of these clues are just 'DUH'.I keep thinking back to things like 'ought to hum here'......DUH! I think too much analysis is a bad thing sometimes.
Lindorfer,you out there?
I think for them to pinpoint a smaller park like that this early in the game is bad and wrong. If its a smaller park, they will be vague before pinpointing things. Is too early for that I guess.
I believe it is 'NOT' a park, but 'linked' to a park. It's a large sunken ballfield. So they are both right and wrong.
I'm tellin you guys I'm callin it this year! But I'm not diggin that thing up alone......IT'S HUGE!
Well I'm heading out to Como and checking it out, along with a few other places. Perhaps see you or a few other coolerheads out there. Good luck and may cooler heads prevail :)
Are a lot of people out at McMurray right now?? Does anyone know?
I'm not sure Diggin, nobody was last night, cept us.I think there are people all over the place.I just think we are gonna all eventually end up there.
Good call, McMurray sounds a lot more realistic that Como--i don't think they would put it there, but linked to it makes me wonder. Just 1 question. who is the man of mettle here?
This is driving me crazy, just sittin here! I will be out today scopin and for sure tonight! Unless the next clue takes me outta there(though I don't think it will)I will be out there tonight for sure!
Listen, it is at Como AW is just obsessed with the film crew. I was there last night alot of people digging. West picnic area!
Diggin,I think the man of mettle is still Greens theory on Larry Hodgeson(Larry Ho) which is the other ballfield at Como a block away from McMurray, you can actually see it.It is a duel/dual thing, two ballfields, only one is the proper place........Good Luck.....irish...McMurray.......
June........ball season......
Playing.........Depressed(sunken)......bank(sunken)......Lots of space...SPACE!!!.........Off base.........
how does clue 7 fit mc murray park/ fields?
The other way to read the clues leads you to Como, but you need to think circular and link..........
and where is it? i don't see mc murray on either of my maps.... thanks!!!!!!!!
Jord,Buehla Lane is a obscure forgotton border to McMurray field. It was once a strolling pathto gardens and an old firepit and bridge......that is all brush now and virtually unused. The old way to travel is a train....train tracks border the other side of McMurray........
Scribe, is it the field outside of the Animal Humane Society there???
YES!!!!!!
