Perry Como,I love that guy!LOL
Dirty but pretty funny....COME ON CLUE!!
Clinton dies and of course goes straight to hell. When he gets there the Devil greets him and offers him three ways to spend eternity. They go to the first door and the Devil shows him Newt Gingrich, hanging from the ceiling with fire under him. Bill says "Oh no! That’s not how I want to spend all eternity......." They go to the second door. The Devil shows him Rush Limbaugh chained to the wall being tortured. Bill says "Oh no! Not for me!"
They go to the third door. Behind it is Ken Starr, chained to the wall with Monica Lewinsky on her knees giving him a blowjob. Bill thinks and decides, "Hmmm, looks okay to me. I’ll take it." The Devil then says, "Good. Hey Monica, you’ve been replaced."
Is DD getting the clue tonight, or is CM, or is anybody???
you had me worried that i had, um, forgotten something, regg :) that's twice in as many days you've tried to screw with my head. it worked 2nite.
hey mom where were you at Como?

Oh Clue, where are you?
E & H Mom's... Care to explain the deal=lead... I must have missed it, too. Thanks:)
I don't know of anyone calling in the clue - AW and DD are not around.
Still outside
Snicker*.... Priceless Step
there is a statue of a playwriter out there; Henrick Ibson, all that is by the statue is his name, nothing else. He's a famous comical, playwrite. that ties in to the play pavillon, bring a smile to your face, and finding his name.
What did Green have to say about it?
hey she is alive- my friend called & sai dit is not out yet @ PP
thanks, Leah
I thought that they were supposed to have it avilable at 11:00 at the Press.
<insert jeopardy music here>
a piece of poetry while we wait:
Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake up in green pastures; it leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz; it leadeth me to the paths of consciousness for its names sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction; I will fear no Equal(tm) for thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez; thou annointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the House of Maxwell forever.
THE DUMPLING HEAD AS RETURNED!
its that magical time of night...:-)
Matt - LOL
Can't explain deal=lead (or whatever). Green was posting it over and over the other day.

LOL
Tom - Looks like we have a dumbass among us, mainly you!
Sounds like the 'cipheren is in full gear from the few (hundred) posts I've skimmed through. I sure miss the hunt this year (this is only the second or third year that I've missed of the last 20 years :(
Oh well... Maybe I could start a hunt down here in AZ... hmmm.
I usually put in a couple of cents on what my take of the clues are but this year I don't see anything jumping out - other than the obvious.. but here a couple o'ideas -
Would William McKnight qualify as a man of mettle? I think he was a founder of 3M - fettle {a stretch}- he built a house on Summit and Prior. I don't know why he came to mind when I read that clue - but it did, so there.
What other names have been thrown around? I saw John son and a couple others but I don't think I'm sold on them yet.
I think East and West means the puck isn't in the downtown area and could also reference a pair of streets , or which side of downtown to venture in. There must be a baseball field in the park - but stay away from it. Also playground equipment to play on - maybe look between the diamond and a jungle gym thing.
The puck might be hiding out in a Dove soap box - or may a Dove Bar wrapper? What other "containers" have been thrown out here?
... this is getting to long and I'm not sure if this has all been analyzed to death yet 'cauze I haven't read the previous 18,000 posts - geeesh, I've got a lot of reading ahead of me. Anyone want to summarize the discussions been going on? :)
Good luck to all - Especially you, Jill (she's cuttin' me in for %10 if she uncovers the bounty - ain't she great! :)
- @lan
Thanks Ares... I feel better now. I am not a caffeine consumer but waiting for this clue has led to a SERIOUS sugar fix... cake, cookies, graham crackers... YIKES!!! I hope this clue leads to somewhere, otherwise I will have nowhere to expend this buzz!
At como park zone 1, there is a bronze statue of Schiller
scribe, it wouldn't be a night if i didn't say something sacriligious :)
memory lane were we had hardly explained is the busiest street of all think of traveling the old way again and you might make a big haul
is that it Tom
And I'll add the "boom boom" at the end of the song Matt....LOL!!
Nice work there Diggin Queen...
Anyone need another dirty joke or have i offended everyone already?!?
SORRY, I'M BORED!!
wheres the clue?
Joe oopps
sorry sue- missed it again
obviously means the conservatory at Como and go to a section where you can't see it!
What's worse, I have to go to the bathroom.
Thanks gonna,
Anybody know what Green said about it? Scribe???
If that was the clue that means CONSERVATORY
offend away, step. i've got an archive, but i'm concerned the one i want to post would be too offensive and sacrilegious for the scribe (might tick you off, too, despire its heavy british/irish influence. then again, maybe not :)
Mom,read about the middle of the map in Mcmurray field in Como.Lexington and midway are the main borders.Larry McMurray was known as'Larry Ho'was twice mayor of St.Paul and journalist for the PP.There is a statue of him acrooss the street. Therefore he is both real and metal/mettle,dual/duel meaning.........
memory lane were we had hardly explained is the busiest street of all think of traveling the old way again and you might make a big haul
thats the clue folks
Clue #7
Memory lane, We need hardly explain
Is the busiest street of all
Think of traveling the old way again
And you might make a big haul
Just FYI, McKnight was NOT the founder of 3M. He was chairman of the board for awhile.
DU DU DUD UD DA DA BOOM BOOM BOOM WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE- thump, thunk, deee deee dee dee WOOOOO!
StepDogg, let the pro handle the jokes
You mean Larry Hodgson!!!! Who Larry Ho Street by Battle Creek is named after?????
That statue (in Como) is off Midway and Horton.
what if she doesn't have a sister, dan ?:)
Im thinking the old 7th street
Train tracks?
Scribe, Laurence Curran Hodgson was know as Larry Ho not Mcurray. You are looking at the wrong field. look at zone 2 in the guide.
OUCH! that's a bad one!
Ares - LOVE the caffein poem!!!!
where is the statue of Ibsen?
Fort Road.
Well....that clue helps ALOT!!!!
THIS GOBSTOPER SUX!
Have WE GOTTEN THE CLUE YET, IF SO, WHAT POST
this sucks!!!!!!!!!!
it's been posted twice already
Thanks C.G. - my corporate history is a little rusty - He did build a nice house though :)
gotta keep up
"Take a walk" down memory lane... the old way of traveling would be walking or by cable car....
Clue Master - you got me sold...that makes the most sense so far.
traveling the old way again - by horse back, stage coach...
seams to go withe the riding clue. any statues with a horse.....
Memory Lane - Highland (1st hunt) or Newell (last hunt)
either train tracks (the soo line/canadian pacific runs just south of como) or horse and buggy.
Here is the clue.
"Here I sit same as ever took a dump and pulled the lever, toilet cloged water flowed, look out world it's a mother load"
HEHEHEHE
You guys know the clue for Tommarow allready?
This sucks.
ok all you como lovers, we have the old cable car tracks right down there off Lexington.
Where is THE COACH HOUSE.. busiest street..
Post 19311
besides that, it's in a depression
you guys, the como-harriet street car line existed then and is now back in use in the summer
Sorry guys you are right about that.........I was goin off little sleep and no guide in front of me......anywho the Hodgeson guy is who Green and I are talkin bout!
See ya'll there Thx and I are takin off!
You got it DQ..., but tommorrow I'll tell you where. I know the man of steel....or shall I say man of mettle...
someone help me PLEASE
Use in summer??? That explains the June clue
Busiest street of all - University?
Memory Lane, hey, there is a dead veterans monument at Highland
Ares, weren't you paying attention to me earlier? I've already mentioned tne obvious mode of transportation of which they speak. That said, I am off to bed to rest up for the morning. 'Nite All.
Long line at the paper this evening--
Leah,COMO!!!! We are gonna wear white tape on our jackets.....
Gonna, tomorrow is in 6 minutes. Whould my e-mail address help?
riverboating is also the old way of traveling...are we so quick to assume it means cable car?
where was the clue posted? The PP site and Twincities.com still have clue 6 up!
whats wrong Leah?
It was given at the press downtown.
IT IS NOT AT HIDDEN FALLS, LOSE THAT THEORY.
Scribe are you going now? and where about?
This clue is makin me think Highland or Newell
Sue - 19311 - Or below
Memory lane, we need hardly explain,
Is the busiest street of all
Think of traveling the old way again
And you might make a big haul
beulah lane
Who is going to Como? When?
Has someone posted a clear explanation of how this clue links to Como? And WHERE in Como???
7 clues and we still cant even pinpoint a LOCATION letalone a PARK....this is ridiculous
you're right, self, i'm in this half-catatonic state right now carrying on conversations here, and providing phone tech support for a pc problem a friend of mine is having. what's worse all the caffeine in the world couldn't keep me awake.
Are we gonna split the prize DQ?? ; )
I've got a hotspot at Como to check out tonight. Maybe break a little ground. See everyone there. White bandanna tied around my knee.
Even though the line no longer goes to Como, it must be a reference to the Como-Harriet street car.
dan, how about you share some of that tagline of yours.
ITS AT HIDDEN FALLS!
OK I have a question, how did you find out about the clue before it was posted?
cable car refers to the cable car club house that is at the mini golf course at como
Derick, are you bringin' cocoa to Como?
Is the C-H streetcar line indicated in the Treasure Hunters Guide?
Ares - I'm going to need it soon!!! :)
What is clue #7?? Anyway, Allison and crew went to Phalen and did some digging and also to Hidden Falls... at Phalen there were like 3 other people digging and at Hidden Falls...some cars but no one out and digging except us. So??? I don't think it's at Hidden Falls. But Phalen or Como...but where in Como???
Thank goodness we all are in agreement now...nighty, night Folks!
thanks - I read it when ClueMaster put it in this board, but I didn't see it on the PP or Twincities.com websites, so I was wondering how he knew what the clue was. No biggie - it's up now anyway
some is at the PP get the first copies & cell phone it back...i think
tom, we had someone run down to the pp to get the paper. whoever it was called cluemaster, who posted it here. thanx to both of them.
Tom, the press hands out the paper from 11PM to 12AM. I assume a person calls a person and they then log on and type it for the rest of us.
the beer, or the better, irish and german stuff?
lOrds OF aCiD
Thanks all.... I am off to rest my mushbrain in my mushroom... xo :)
EITHER!!!!
Well, DUH, SueBee! I must be tired
Thanks all.... I am off to rest my mushbrain in my mushroom... xo :)
who's got a thesaurus? Can we find a simile for Memory lane???? ___________Street???
Gonna, we could always meet down there, then we could split. I'm going for sure tomorrow, unless you could give me reason to go tonight.
I gotta spot in mind for Como to check out
remember what part of the brain is responsible for memory?.....
Ares, what is your thought on the park?
OK, this may be a little far fetched, but could it possibly be on the capital mall. It hasn't been there since '89. There are those gold horse statues, they have made two references beloved St. Paul, and they still have yet to say one word about it being in a park. (Or is the Capital Mall considered a park?)
Just a thought.
you'll never guess what I saw at mary-dale...
Rex, it is the cerebral cortex.
I get the feeling everyone wants to be heard, but no-one is listening
rush...the frontal.......
what did you see at mary-dale?
Can-u-Dig it;
I kinda thought about that because it taked about a Statue, and a Name. They have the war mommorial down there with names. Other clues matces up, but tht I won't talk about yet
I can't take it anymore -talk to ya guys later
someone mentioned cruisin up and down 7th st. earlier but how bout "porky's" on university ave. (memorylane)
So, Rex, what did you see?
dig - I'll bite
Well,Rex, I've been thinkin' alot about Marydale, too. What did u see there?
there is a huge sign, just before the park sign, on dale..
I think Como is whack, but that's just the opinion of a wicked clown.
MemoryLane goes back to the fairgound, its on a busy street, and they have all those car shows down there
Anyone been there?
Can - nice horse reference
Where can I find clues from previous hunts?
I don't know anymore, rushmore. what about the water fountain? i seem to remember once upon a time lexington was split around that fountain. anyone else remember this?
rex, what sign are you talking about??
Well...we have been to Iris Park...is that where people are thinking? It's rather small though...I don't know...
ok DQ. I am going out tomorrow morning probably about 10 am. I have to take my son to a basketball game at 1:30, so.....from 10 -noon say... I will be the guy in the leather T-wolves jacket & the Russian bombadier hat.
Ares;
I know outside the pilvilan by the lake they have the waterfalls, and further down to lexington, they have fountains, and gates
Ok, I'm over excited... maybe it's the digging by myself, I don't know, but the park I think it's in doesn't fit the "lot's of space" or "travel the old way" but....
fairgrounds is out of city limits(falcon heights)
Yes I remember that and it was the fountain of Victoria A women holding a vase with water spraying out of it
marypoppins, the fairgrounds is in Falcon Heights, but its mailing address is in saint paul
hey dig -- The "treat Depression" sign?
I really don't feel like it could be Como again. It was just there 4 years ago. Plus the year after it was found there, the giant slide was moved to Como.
absolutely short!!
Rex;
I flew by Marydale park, but I can't really picture a statue down there. What sign were you talking about on Dale?
does the common phrase "a walk down" memory lane have anything in it???
I saw that sign Rex. I thought about that too.
but you wont be walking on the mailing address.. get out the map and look at the boundries
and lexington split around it, right? northbound was on the east, southbound was on the west
does the common phrase "a walk down" memory lane have anything in it???
well my final thought for tonight is that- they didn't even hide a medallion this year!!!!!!!!!!!:)
Rex, it is the Cerebral cortex "the 2-mm-thick layer that covers the surface of the brain and which contains the brain's machinery for creating perception, as well as other functions, such as language, memory, and thinking. (p. 20, Goldstein)
Ok it's the digging by myself.. I'm tired, and tipsy, hey even the most astute (he he) has to have a cool beverage..
leah, i think you found "our deal"! :)
yeah thats what i thought, but what other clues match up? East and West?
While I appreciate every attempt here, I would find suspect that a billboard would be tied to a clue--we don't know when the billboards are written, and we don't know the length of the contract for the advertising--I would chalk that up to an interesting coincidence. As for Iris, about the only support I can find in this clue is that it is on University Avenue, the busies street in St. Paul.
Memory Lane(in North St. Paul) are they being tricky, didn't say which St. Paul, now thats circular thinking and way OFF BASe. it goes to the Ramsey county fair grounds. Which is a walk down mem lane...
rush the cortex is broken into four parts...
Has anyone been to Phalen to see if the gates are open tonight?
Did you know? The cerebral cortex (outside of the brain, also known as neocortex) is divided into 4 major divisions: frontal (at the front of your head), parietal (top and towards the back), occipital (entirely at the back, involved primarily in vision), and temporal (on the sides of your brain, just inside your ears). The medial temporal lobe is the inside portion of the temporal lobe, that is, the portion of the temporal lobe closest to the midline (middle of your body).
Look! I can cut and paste too!
The old way of traveling horse shore?
Mmm...I think all the clues fit Iris....
We were told this hunt was gonna be hard-----as far as we know they thing can be shoved in the slide. The slide makes us fell its not there. I did see a bird sign at Como--but had no luck, someone else did to-Only difference is my bird had a smile on its face, and the other one was a mailbox eagle
where is everyone thinking
Amtrak Depot for Iris?
Michelle--testify for Iris--help me out.
downtown dave..the busiest st...uni..memory lane porky's on uni
Nice stretch New Daddy.....how bout Casey park....the largest park in N St Paul......just kidding it's not in NSP!
donna, frog pond, como. we'll all be setting up our sleeping bags and tents :)
Why Not in NSP, nothing stears use from there
New Daddy, that's cause I live in No.S.P., I was discussing the other night, that it's in my back yard. Also, the man of steel, but not real, was my hubby's view of himself.
What's sad is that if I stretch things far enough, I could actualy make them fit my back yard.
memory lane= prom ballroom on uni
Rex, ah yes, if I would have kept reading, I would have noticed that it does in fact split into four parts the temporal, frontal, parietal and occipital lobes (clearing my throat) ah yes, well, back to hunt.
Memory lane= John Ireland Blvd goes right past the history center.
Oh yes, poppins--as I have stated before on these pages, I hunt there just for the onion rings--however, I can't fit "the prize is at a place with lots of space for riding around" into Iris......
What park is on FRONT Street
Can anyone link the "man of mettle" to Iris?
Hey DQ......twist of irony....I live in NSP too....
There are all those people who cruise in the classic cars down University..."riding around"
dig it, i think that's the best road connection i've seen yet.
There is Front Playgrounds on Front, and across dale, there is Calvery Cem.
Gonna, by where? I'm by Cowern Elementary, on South & Margaret.
downtown dave..just making reference to uni ave
I used to get my electricity from NSP..
Marypoppins... this 7th clue fits Iris...maybe...memory lane next to Porkies' -- old cars go down Univ..the busiest street. Traveling the old way again could be in older cars or by horses... mmm...don't know.
My top three choices are ...Como, Iris and Phalen... Como has a trolley...and horses??? I don't know..
Well, if anyone wants to meet me, Allison and company tomorrow...say, around 11am-12pm...let us know...we will be hunting...
Can - Also like the History Center idea. Keep em comin'
Why do people think Iris??? I thought Phalin from the begining
My GOD what if they put it at Newell again....
Memory lane...think of traveling the old way again
Circular thinking could be wheeler street again or the year '00
Use Pierce Butler for the man of mettle again
You can see the space needle from newell but you have to move OFF BASE, meaning the fairgrounds.
AM I JUST TIRED AND DILERIOUS RIGHT NOW??? AAHHHH
wow, i grew up in North St Paul....lived there for 18 years
michelle, how'd things look at the rec. center?
Don't start with NSP. You'll have me digging around the cannon again! My hunting partner is still mad at me that!
near silver lake here dq
Could be Newell...good point
I'm still thinking Hidden is a strong contender. I need to sleep on it though. Good luck all and SCMDs!
Forgive my ignorance, but who was John Ireland anyway? Could he be the man of mettle?
I'm on mcknight & shawnee.... but grew up on Ivy(7th & Mcknight)....oh yeah....went to school at cowern.....heheheh
step have another beer. i'd soil myself with a solid gold brick if it were at newell again.
Well, I am going to turn in...
Okay you NSP people could the Ramsey C fairgrounds work with he other clues??
mettle man - Mcknight.
E/West I don't know
Dog I'm either real tired and it makes sense or I'm Whacked
I just thought of something my greatgrand ma told me about COMO, and the clues fits into como.
join the club, marshee.
gonna, i grew up just a block away on 3rd...small world
I really think it might be there!!
Help a juggalo out here! I was all for Phalen up to this clue, but don't really see how this one fits.
Plus, I'm starting to like Newell and maybe Highland.
If I wasn't so tired, I'll run upto como right know, I'm only a min or 2 away
what would really be surprising, i mean bold, is if it were in the exact same spot as last year. (13 people just left to find the spot it was hidden last year).
Again, where can I find past clues?
sorry sharky. check out the medallion page at http://www.coolercrew.com/
New Daddy........NOT!
Go here!!!!!! for past clues... http://www2.twincities.com/wintercarnival/previousclues/
I'm tired! Worked all day and all night till now. If I send my dog out to hunt, will you guys send her home when she's done? (Yes I would like some cheese with that wine!)
I still like Como, everything fits there very well. Too well though I am possibly afraid.
hit the previous clue link at the top of this page or you can also look under www.coolercrew.com, chose medallion then pick 2001.
John Ireland was the Bishop of the Archdiocese of St.Paul at the time the Cathedral of St. Paul and the Basilica of St. Mary were built.
um, yeah, nensea. just as soon as she brings the med to me, you can have her back :)
ND, The RC fairgrounds are not off Mc Knight.
All us NSPites should solisite the paper to hide it in NSP!!!!!!!!! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the treasure to be in NSP. I always have to drive to he!! and gone to search for the thing.
duel MEANING TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have already been to Newell, and the spot it was found last year was already dug up after the 2nd or 3rd clue.
Ms Sharky, maybe the library. I really have no clue.
It could be at Newell. The first clue did say something about cruel.
Last year at Newell our fate was most cruel,
Unfortunately the game ended too soon
Come now and prepare for a much tougher duel,
Keep on your toes or you'll hunt until June
no offence, queen, but it's bad enough that nsp-ites need to solicit traffic there, with that insane 45 mph speed limit on 36 and its associated traffic signals. no, this is the st. paul winter carnival, the hunt belong here.
