wasnt bitchin either yo!
I think it's obviously hidden inside a Dove Bar box or a Dove soap box....that's what I mean n-cat... :P
cougar, if your current ones are expiring soon, you may want to consider getting them now. then you can transfer them to the new wheels, and get new normal plates for the old ones. a piece of advice on getting them with the new car (taken from my experience with the 'stang): have the form with you when you buy; that way, when that car's new plates show up, they'll be your umn plates. otherwise you'll be waiting 3 months until you have a title (unless the car's already got mn plates). i figure my success in life is in part due to the scholarship i got from the u. the least i can do is give back 50 bucks a year to display unique license plates.
j-j-j-j-j-joe!
Yeah you were both whiny little kids last night.
Como sounds good to me. Circular thinking=the 3 stone fire pits at the West picnic grounds. The choice that leaves you depressed=the West picnic grounds. Thus, the right choice is the East Picnic grounds (up above the depression of the lower grounds) where playing puts a smile on your face (playground/baseball field). Riding around=carousel at Como. Como also has lots of space. Any thoughts?
I knew I shouldn't have hit happy hour!!!!!!
i'm spent now.....
What up Schlettdog!! back at it again i see!
SO whats up yo, are we hittin Como and Hidden falls? cause i gotta know how much gas to get.
Schlettdog, that sounds pretty good!
new clue better park?.....
StepDogg in the house! owwwww!
I just renewed my plates in November. Plus, I am currently a student at the U, also a scholarship recipient. By the end of May, i'll be a graduate in Chem E, and hopefully be able to afford it by then.
and in an ironic twist of luck, i'm actually leaning towards the medallion being across estabrook from....
the frog pond. seriously. the carousel and conservatory are nearby, yet out of view in the right spots on the field.
Come get me before you get gas Twiz, I'll pay, i gotta feelin bout tonight man.
Hi all, as I sit in front of a warm fire, I'm no closer to the clues, but I'm toasty warm. Tomorrow we're gonna take the kids out with us diggin .. we'll start at Phalen and dig our way to Como
HF closes at 10
I don't know about Como. This early in the hunt you can make almost all the clues fit any park somehow in your head. Every year como is the first park that everyone always thinks it at.
Loggin off for a bit... see you all later!!! :)
Schlett - you ready to find this damn thing or what?!?!
awww...snap! rude boy spendin some money!
reg, given sufficient, um, supplies, the parks are open 24x7. gates aren't that difficult to climb over.
straight up! whats up with that Rudy?
Yeh, let's do it! Let's grab our hoes and find this thing, dogg!
Hey, lets not jump to conclusions until the 7th clue comes!
Do any of the clues fit in reference to White Bear Ave. ??
Yeah, Twiz, we'll be hittin Como and Hidden Falls, but depending on the next clue, we might have to add a couple parks or delete one or some of both.
Ill tell ya whats up with that, I bought a scratch off and won 300 bux today, that tells me sumthin.
Dog - the only problem is....nobody really knows WHERE to start. I mean the clues don't really give us any idea of what park it's at...if it's even IN a park.
Como, Highland, and Hidden Falls all sound good!
Anyone think that East and West refers to the Mississippi...so leading to HF?
Regg, have you added Phalen to your list? According to the posts earlier today Phalen's gates weren't closed last night and the buzz was that it might be there.
True. True. Better this than what we had last year, though.
Battle Creek anyone??
How the clues match to Phalen I don't have a clue!
I just hope they get movin' with these clues!! I gotta go back up to school next week!!
I just hope noone finds it on the 8th clue this year i love hunting al night on the 10-12 clues!!
What's Allison's take on all this? He's one of the wisest we've got.
Wolfpacc, good thinkin'!!
Damn, Rude Boy, 300 bux? well, hey, if your payin for gas, you can get me too, and we'll to to Taco Bell first.
I thought about Battle Creek, down by the caves, but seems to fit as well as just about any other park in the city
yeah, step, but you can still come back and hunt at night. st. cloud isn't that far away. heck it's almost as decent a commute as going to the u is :)
I live near Phalen and the gates are open every year during the hunt, just so you don't jump on just that only. But if you have excluded it I would love to know why.
I've tried digging at night and even if you were at the right spot chances are you'd miss it anyway.
Taco Bell? hell naw! thats nasty, they use the same grade o meat in that that they put in dog food, i just saw that on tv last night.
We'll get a good clue tonight or at least I hope. I ts got too limit it pretty soon here.
schlett, allison's leaning toward phalen. iirc, he's probably there now with michelle, and a collection of people from his yahoo single's club.
My Best Bets (in order)
Como
Hidden Falls
Phalen
Highland
i'd love to dig at night, but my buddy with the ex-squad car complete with spotlights is taking it to arizona on sunday. :-(
Taco Bell taste like sh^t, stoopid juggawhores.
Ares - I haven't heard too much chatter about Phalen in the cooler...do you know why they like phalen?
regg, my list is identical. tonites clue should do the 50/50 thing. i hope.
aight yall, im gonna come get ya'll now, so we can get Jacks "dog food" and then we might hit up the PP at 11 to get the cluey clue
IM OUT
cougar your a chem eng I'm going to start at the u and go into that next year
OUT
What clues fit Phalen??
Out
you're in allison's club, dan, sign up to get his postings via email. actually, i'm guilty of not reading too many of them. kinda hard to filter them through the other 600 emails i've got since midnite and keep track of what's going on here.
Ares, smart minds think alike!!!
Outtie, outtie, up, up and outtie
I can't EXCLUDE any parks totally cause the majority of the clues can be fitted to most any park.
I was at Phalen tonight and I really think there is something to the idea of it being on the PHALEN REC side of wheelock parkway.
Does any know if Wheelock is someone??Wheelock PKWY runs through Phalen.
OK Regg and Ares... you have the list.... please give a brief but interesting (lol) synopsis of WHY? Thanksssssss xo :)
None of you are discussing the first section of Clue 5 and how it's suppose to fit at Como, Phalen, and Hidden.
(man of steele cannot be real, But another has plenty of mettle)
allison's kinda drawn to the bus turnaround there at forest and wheelock. he'll be on the rec center portion. (zone 2 for those following along with the guide)
I think Rude Boy, Jake Jykle, Twiztid Juggalo, and all them peeps are the same person...
Wheelock Whitney ran for Governor of Minnesota about 20 years ago.
thanks for the respoince it only took me 5 day to figer out how to get on this chat lol plus the help of my sweet wife sugar
Well I'll be back at Midnight and I'll tell you all what Park it is in for sure!
John and Lori - But if clue 6's reference to "move off base" refers to baseball/softball, i would think it wouldn't be on the REC side cause that's where all the fields are.
No they aint man
I know it's a college
I thought that base sounded kinda millitary. Any thoughts?
Maybe MOVE OFF BASE means shortstop.
My thoughts were maybe it's right off the baseline???
Hey, Dumplin, why you think were all they same people?
I'm leaning towards Hidden Falls. Aren't there only 2 entrances? Duel/dual.
think u are right
Ares- could you please tell me where zone 1 is?
como - i think the riding portions of clue 6 lead to this one (btw, anyone know if the ride area is considered part of the zoo proper?) also could be a reference to the paddle-boats on the lake. circular references to the conservatory and the carousel.
hidden - out of view, yes it's early on for a reference to the park if they're gonna keep it difficult. new idea from a friend of mine in mankato - circular == sewer pipe == the start of the falls? (whooshing sound of 15 cooler-crewfolk heading to the north end of hidden).
phalen - bus turnaround, end of the park road going westbound are circular. plenty of stone walls there, off base == a.w.o.l. => walls. (sound of 15 more running to phalen) there's also the round pipe climing equipment in the playground. and it's overdue.
highland - the disc-golf course, many chain links at the pins when they're in place. discs are by definition circular (unless you've scavenged a couple off the bottom of the pond down at north valley that should have been thrown back), since this is the only thing that really matches, highland gets the last spot on my "it's probably here" list.
If its at como, whos the man of mettle?
Dumplin Fool, dont sit there and talk smack and then not back it up. Im Out
Few reasons, one ya'll always on at the same time, once one logs on, they all do, and then they all log off at the same time, and cuz ya'll always do the same things "We're going to the the taco bell" then another one would be like "Hell Nah, I saw somthing somthing on it, ground 0 meat" ya'll put two words like that.
OK
"Riding around can be fun" and "move off base" have to correlate somehow because look at how it's worded...
The prize is at a place with lots of space
Where riding around can be fun
But you'll have to move off base
If you hope to be the victorious one
at phalen, john?
chris, military bases were the first things that sprang to mind with that clue.
whos the man of mettle in the one clue? hello so is it at como!!!
how'd you get the bullet in there, step?
ken, no one's sure. i'm leaning toward como, regg is leaning toward como, stepdogg is leaning toward como; to be perfectly honest, these are just educated guesses. but the only things certain in life are death and taxes. scratch that. for me its just taxes. wait, scratch that too.
Thanks Ares.... (sound of MushieW still sitting here and NOT whooshing or running) LOL!! I love it!! You're funny! xo ;-)
just do a "shift 8" before you type
Yes please Ares.
I have excluded: Aldine, Arlington, Baker, Bay-Tuscaroda, Beaver Lake Park, Belvedere, Boyd, Carty, Cass Gilbert Overlook Park, Cayuga, Daytons Bluff, Desnoyer, Douglas, Dunning, Frost Lake, Griggs, Groveland, Hampden, Hancock, Hendon Triangles, Homecroft, Horton, Iris, Irvine, Jimmy Lee, Kellogg, Linwood, Lewis, Lockwood, Margaret, Marshall-Webster, McDonough, McQuillian, Mears, North Dale, Orchard, Prospect, Prosperity, Rice, Sakett, Scheffer, St. Anthony, St. Clair, Sylvan, Swede Hollow, Taylor, Tilden, Western Park,
well i am sure you are all wrong
The turn around is RIGHT by the baseball feild at Phalen.
phalen zone 1 is the part directly off of arcade/61. most of it is in maplewood.
that'll be 50 cents. 25 cents to me to defray the cost of the guide and the necessary work to look it up, 25 to tthg for putting it all together :)
Ares, I'm with you, for now!
Thank-you Ares, I'll pay you when I find this thing!! My husband thinks I am crazy!! The house is a mess, he had to cook dinner last night and he went to bed alone because I was noodling and waiting for the next clue!
Ares, what do you think of the old trolley at the miniature golf course by the PLAYground at the Como west picnic grounds? What is leading you toward Estabrook?
How many of ya'll think Rude Boy, Evil Dead, Jake Jykle, Twizted Juggalo and all them are the same person?
regg, that'll be 5 bucks for me typing up your thoughts :)
hey, i'm gonna get my 10 grand regardless of whether i find the medallion :)
Lori - hahaha
Sounds like you have TRUE medallion fever like the rest of us. This thing controls my life once a year!!
Has anyone thought about Charles Schultz being the man of mettle? (He just received one.) And isn't Highland park now Charles Schultz/Highland Park?
then i apologise for calling you john, lori.
self, nothing in particular leading me toward estabrook. it just happend to be where i walked 2day. stay off that course, too:) although placing myself back towards that trolley, i'd be in the vicinity of my circular objects, but wouldn't necessarily have to move around to keep them out of view like i'd have to were it across from the pond.
I don't care about the money (that much), I am out there to have fun!
Regg your for como but last night you were so certain it was hidden falls
Lori, quit doing this!!! That makes perfect sence.
step, if it controlled your life, you'd not be going back to school sunday night, and you would have shown your face here before last weekend when we had our "mock hunts" :)
Now I'm more confused than ever.
Lori, I have thought about it, and it could work!!!
Charles Schultz is also a Financial service dealing with IRA's and such.
Thanks for you input Ares. Btw, I liked the jokes on your website.
Lori, I believe the skating rink was named for Charles Schultz...not the whole park at Highland... :-o
Well let me rephrase -
Controls my life for the time I'm allowed to be controlled! :)
Regg, did you get the point of Charles Schultz getting a medal and the Highland Park aslo bears his name?
hey its at como
What is the irc channel/net for Allison's chat room?
That would link it to banking. And it would be the year to them to focus on him.
SO THERE IS NO CONFUSION, HERE IS WHERE I STAND:
#T1: Hidden Falls
#T1: Como
#3: Highland
#4: Phalen
lori, i've got a shedload of people at work who think i'm crazy, too. since i'm effectively on call for the next few weeks, i told one of the guys i work with before i left this afternoon that if i didn't answer important email in a reasonable period of time to call me despite the fact i'd be knee-deep in a snowbank somewhere. when others find you insane, you know you're truly one of us. at least none of us here is crazy enough to go jump into lk. mtka. on new years (i hope).
Allison' is yahoo.com and click on clubs.
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/theallisonwonderland
hey, self, that's not what that page is there for (and explains why my net connection slowed down a bit). wait, i guess it is. i've got a bunch of pro-packer, anti-viking stuff i'm thinking about putting up there until august that i've collected from packer fans (disclaimer: i bleed purple).
With the 50th Medallion hunt thing, Charles Schultz, and Highland High, Highland Park seems really good.
Things were becoming somewhat busy at Phalen when I left, but hardly a soul on the lake side of Wheelock.
Thanks wolfpacc, John & Lori.
Sheesh, thats a lot of messages to go through. Just putting my two cents in again about the "off base" thing. I think that its trying to keep us off of baseball and softball diamonds. Sort of how they tell us to keep off of golf courses. I remember Conway two years ago and how the ball fields got tore up, and I don't think they want that again.
sure step. you can sacrifice a few more days of school. it's only till thursday at the latest.
I personally know nothing about the Highland Park area so I have been reluctant to go there.
yeah, kids, we were discussing the ball-field digging nut here the other night. it was a rather humourous sight.
Okie dokie folks....here goes as to what I think in this mushbrain of mine... I too think of Charles Schultz as the man of mettle because mettle means a gentlmen or as to brave or couragous... NOW.... has anyone else used the "Circular" portion of the clue to mean a "newspaper"? It is one you know... and Charles Schultz can certainly be "linked" to a "circular" now can't he? That is one reason I thought of the State Fair because of all the Snoopy statues around it... but it is still NEAR Como... sooooooooooo.... whatcha think? xo
I have to run to the store. Will any of you be here later to throw ideas around with?
my knowledge of h.p. comes from my excursions last summer to grab photos of the snoopy's there, and the 3 pages in the guide. one of these days this summer, i'm gonna hafta go throw a few discs there.
J&L, I'm really near the Highland area, and the clues vaguely could be twisted to fit Hidden Falls better than HP in my mind. But I think at this point they could be twisted to fit any of 5-10 parks
Be here till the clue comes out
If Charles Schultz has anything to do with the clues it will be at Highlan.
Has anybody actually been out digging in any park? Lots of snow to dig?
i'll be here until 1 or 2 lori, since i'll be too damn tired to go dig (6am wakeups and 1am crash-times will do that to ya).
LOTS OF SNOW TO DIG!!!!!!!!!!!!
k ...6 clues into the race here, not leading us anywhere. Does anyone think that there are some work scramblings, anagrams, or any other tricky things we are missing. I hate to read too deep into the clues, but after looking at them over and over i keep thinking there has to be something else in there that we haven't discovered yet.
If Charles Schultz has anything to do with it, it doesn't necessarily have to be at Highland. Peanuts and CS have been huge here this year, and they have been all over the place.
well wolf, we've got a coupla inches of nice virgin snow today. there's lots and lots of snow around como (i'm still trying to figure out why they got pissed when i started digging up the slide today :). i ran into night digger there turning over a bunch of snow.
Thats why I'm the wolffpac, I sit by the computer and send the pac out to dig.
Highland seems good, but there are still a few things that don't seem to fit there!
oh, wolf, so you work for the state? :)
No insult intended to anyone, but I feel so old sitting at home on a Friday night digging up info about every little thing I can! And enjoying it.
I go to a movie and I come back to 450 mor posts. Anyway, I am still stuck on both Como and Phalen. Looking forward to tonight's clue so I can limit my search area.
Hey J & L -
Don't feel that way!! I'm 21 and doing the same damn thing!! :)
Cell phones are great. They come in handy when I tell them to change parks. Last night I called them to see how they were doing and they were sitting in the bierstube in Oakdale drinking beer.
lori, i felt old when i was babysitting my 9-year old cousin at camp snoopy a coupla weeks ago and nearly re-enacted one of the mall garbage can scenes out of the mighty ducks movies. my 24 year old stomach just ain't cut out for that stuff anymore. especially right after i ate. :)
watchin the game, havin a bud, huh?
hey u all are right!!!
True. True. Hey yo where's Dookie?!
Waaaaazzzzuuuuupppppp
ANYONE GOING LOOKING TONIGHT FOR THE MEDDALLION
My wife does, I'm a mailman, that's why I've got to work early in the morning.
Ares: True. True.
what's worse, lori, is that we're all here, chatting for the most part with complete strangers. i mean, step and i have an indirect knowledge about who each other is despite the fact we've never met, but that's pretty much the extent of it. everyone who really knows someone else here is already out hunting.
ok guys, bad, bad line. besides dukie's the target in that commercial.
Could Gov. Johnson be the man of mettle?
NO ONE CAN WAIT FOR CLUE7
This year I'm going to go to the bash the cooler crew has when the darn thing is finally found.
could be, goo. after all, he now has 2 schools named for him.
I think we should all wear big nametags when we go hunting so we can run into eachother and say
John....Lori.....nice to see ya! :)
I'll bite, who the heck is Gov. Johnson?
wolf, you shoulda been at the pre-dig-gig. admittedly, i wasn't there (all the pain-relieving drugs in the world couldn't have gotten me into my car to get there, because my back wouldn't have let me get back out of the car), but it's always said to be such a blast.
I have excluded: Aldine, Arlington, Baker, Bay-Tuscaroda, Beaver Lake Park, Belvedere, Boyd, Carty, Cass Gilbert Overlook Park, Cayuga, Daytons Bluff, Desnoyer, Douglas, Dunning, Frost Lake, Griggs, Groveland, Hampden, Hancock, Hendon Triangles, Homecroft, Horton, Iris, Irvine, Jimmy Lee, Kellogg, Linwood, Lewis, Lockwood, Margaret, Marshall-Webster, McDonough, McQuillian, Mears, North Dale, Orchard, Prospect, Prosperity, Rice, Sakett, Scheffer, St. Anthony, St. Clair, Sylvan, Swede Hollow, Taylor, Tilden, Western Park,
Last year most of them wore a white piece of material on there arms.
Tim_the_nephew is really into this and he never misses a function.
Regg - i think those were excluded when clue 6 said it's at a place with lots of space! :)
Lets all stick a white piece of tape across the front of our coats!
step, i don't wear nametags. i don't believe in them :). i've got a black jacket, blue jeans (with nice faded spots on the knees from the underside of my desk at work), sunglasses and a shovel. and the only other dressing up for the weather i do is gloves. i'll announce my presence in a park with "yo, wassup? anyone dig?" if that'd be all right :).
besides if i were to put a name tag on, it'd be my real name, not this diety i hide behind :)
Reggman - a few posts back you mentioned that you can't fit some clues to Highland park. I was having the same trouble. Which clues can't you fit? maybe we have different ones and can help each other.
white tape/armband. i like it. scurries around the house to find some.
underwear. that'll work :)
Lets all get together tomorrow. I'll bring a few boxes of Dove ice cream bars ;)
Jokysu, the east-west thing, the circular thinking, the bank account thing just don't fit Highland!
So is everyone thinkin' Como??????
jokyso, had you asked me a question here this afternoon that i never responded to? i remember starting a response to you, getting interrupted at work, hitting refresh later, and remembering that i was in the process of writing something, but i don't remember its topic.
Good morning ya'll!
And just randomly scatter the boxes to give others the impression that they are going insane. LOL
Check this,
Wheelock (circular) "links" with Prosperity (Bank account not shrinking)through a very short stretch of Johnson Pkwy (mettle) @ south side of Phalen(off base). There is public land there - Tennis courts etc. ????????????????
then we can bury the left-over wrappers, kids? somewhere around como's where i'll be unless given a good reason to search elsewhere in about an hour and a half.
What up Scribe
The white idea sounds good to me. I hope someone who gets the paper at 11 or whenever hurries and gets it on the board. I'm all ready falling asleep sitting here.
Como or Hidden Falls, maybe Highland
Anyone have anymore ideas about Hidden Falls?
a little late, or a little early, scribe?
yeah, really pac. i'm about to go hook up the caffeine drip cuz i'm gonna need it if i'm gonna be here until 1.
I was diggin there last night, just not sure where I need to be though.
Sure, we'll dump them around the frog pond ;)
Everything works with Hidden Falls, along with 3 or more parks
oh, and self, isn't that a nice little car i've got pictured on my web page (since you're so interested in it)?
Man I passed up going to the club to look for it 2-night LOL
wolf - it's my job tonight
Ares, you work tomorrow or can you sleep in?
Yo,Yo Dogg!:) Hi Wolf! Hey Ares!
Goo,I like the theory, very creative! Problem is that you haven't figured ALL of the clues......try not to get stuck on just the major points, the minor ones play in too!
no, no, no, kids. not the frog pond. that's where we can congregate at. then we'll deploy them around the park :)
What about "space" meaning parking spaces? And "riding around" meaning bike riding around Como Lake? :-P
Which ones?
I cant wait for the 7TH CLUE
Which ones?
Thank you in advance, cluemaster!
pac, i'll be up till 2 and down till 11. and hopefully i won't have to think of any work till tomorrow evening (though monday is preferable i'm expecting something earlier)
Ares,I just got up from a nap,I'm really havin a hankerin to be out there tonight. It'll be fun to pick up the clue at the PP again...
scribe where about in como were you this lunch?
Mush,my take on 'lots of space' means big park also with a duel/dual meaning with parking space (palm lot).
Where is Allison, she is always here around now?
Scribe, hope to meet you guys this weekend when we finally figure out what Park it's in for sure.
I'm thinking: 1) Hidden Falls 2) Como 3) Highland
Ares,me and my boys were on Estrabrook across from the Schiller statue.
regg, allison is a he, and he's out at phalen rec now.
What's Estebrook? That's a new one.
Regg,you ever met Allison? She's a HE!LOL!!
Ares, sorry it took me so long to post...I am engrossed in your site!) Very nice car.
across estabrook from it? and about when?
Thanx Scribe... I'll be in my mushroom thinking this over until the next clue... :)
drove through phalen today, didnt really click to us
Is anyone at Como as we speak?
well, i like her, self. and i miss her, since there's no way in hell i can be convinced to take her out until the salt is off the road.
Wolf, better known to us veterans as 'books rate'LOL! It's ESTRAbrook and it is the street that runs from the palm lot to the conervatory to lexington.
actually scribe, it's estabrook. no first 'r'.
Ok, I don't get out much! If I went to the zoo I'd probably get locked up, lol.
Ares,we were out there from about 11:30 to 12;15,had to go do lunch and get them to school after that!
como is still # 1 on our list
Well you are a wolf!LOLOL!
2 kids, scribe? was that you coming in as i was headed back (in my black jacket) towards the conservatory and my car?
hoping next clue narrows down area
You are right Ares,typo! Sorry!
zone 4,5,6

19K Joe
scribe, dear, i'm always right. in the rare event that i'm wrong, please go back and re-read the first sentence.
Maybe Ares,we drove aound there........I have a purple columbia jacket and teal snowpants...
Has anyone run into the Donut Man? He always comes around with free donuts to everyone who is digging....nice guy!
