I was even considering hillcrest playground/rec for a while there
Rocket, I KNOW you are lurking!
Please Sue--no snowshoes! It makes that snow so hard to dig. hehe
But Highland could be circular, goingb ack to where iit first was?
DD...
Have you given up on Valley, then?
Hillcrest- is there lots of space where riding around can be fun
It's the 'man of mettle'that seems to be near the prize.Senor DeSoto?"Look for his name around our deal"-rather than Clark who takes you to the site from the South. This would make it on the west side of this park, that I still don't know the name of.
If you go to Highland and find an pink golfball, could you please return it to me, Thanks!
Where's Hillcrest? Whers MLK?
Dave Arlington-Arkwrite park
Alan...hillcrest has all those rides located on it for highland fest in the summer, but no actually riding paths.
Yes, Duane, given today's clue about room to ride around and such, I can't make it fit any more. There is no "riding" to be done at Valley. The Hills go to a busy road, so sledding would be tough. It's a big flat nothing with bike trails, etc. Only a small playground set, and if that's "riding", well then that's not a good clue. I am going with the crowd--must mean bicycles or the like. But there was a heck of a view, and it's close to home.
Digs, did you enjoy the Titanic slide?
Hillcrest Ave. leading to Highland Park or Hillcrest Golf Course?
Anybody going to the local watering hole this weekend, DD?
lots of space does not have to mean alot of space, but could mean lots(plural noun) of space
Sue...they couldn't pull me away from it!...*smile*
Duane--I haven't heard of any organized plans to do so. I think we all figured we'd be actively digging by now!
I personally am getting just a little frustrated. It's strange that they haven't said it is in a park yet? Which could lead you to a rec center. I don't see it being Como this year, and that's just me. I just hope tonights clue gives me something to work off of.
Good evening ladies and gents!
By this weakend the drinking should be going on in the field
Pal Joe!
Missed!!!!
Hey Scribe!
Wow...took me half hour to get through all the messages since 4:15! Either I'm a slow reader or there's alot of messages. To excavating stud....I did a little research on the olympics. Held here in 1991...could not find out where(park wise).
Where is Derick with the hot Cocoa? It's getting cold out here.
Iwish, nvhgkdutnbmccsgflmilimbnghfgfnvngf ( son helping) I wish... I wish I knew where to go...............
nbhffgvjnmvkgzrhfbmnbhvghhcfbbjnfvjfvbngbnjbjmn
Yeah, well guess again. BBIAB
I still think you can jam the clues into almost any of the large parks at this point. Hoping by Saturday night we can eliminate 1/2 of them or so.
Hey Scribe - Did you go to Como? How was it?
So ya'll up to meeting at cOmO tonight and scopin.....maybe breakin some ground?
Great Lee! I'm pretty sure I got this one!!!:)
hello Scribe....have you done any digging yet?
Hey Scribe... salutations!
You were moving snow in Como already? You got more ambition than me, kid.
ALAN:Thanks-Arlington Arkwright Park,you say?
There is plenty of space, and places for sleds or even skis. But 'riding around'would have to mean snowmobiles, and there is a trail.I'm not sure if it's for machines. It seems more for hiking.
Riding around should be a significant clue. That could be a fly in the ointment here.
Hey Lindorfer! are you out there????? LURKER!LOL!
I suppose you don't what to tell us where in cOmO you're gonna be??
has it ever been elsewhere than a field.....ie...a street curb or something?
Went past Como yesterday, but not much activity.Remember it was hid there within the last five years.
got my boots and shovel, where's Derick?
If the park is bound by Arlington, Arkwright, and DeSoto it is Arlington-Arkwright
nildear--yes, but not likely to be again in the modern era of lawsuits and such--my opinion only, but I just don't see PP encouraging that sort of thing. Check out Derek's Site--you'll get all of the hiding places for the low low price of ....free
Duane, you'd best get a move on because you know I won't be doing any cooking tonight. So... unless you want to take me out to dinner?....
I was not moving much snow,I think it needs to be narrowed down a bit more. I got the park and the right vicinity........big place though and lots of snow! I did dig with the boys for a bit,and we made some snow angels!:)
nildear....one of the very early hunts hid it under a mailbox on a downtown street....
a Where Scribe?
gvgdgdfvjfgbhghgbhnghgjgvnjnvjvjjnvjbhbjfjjngmggnnghgjggjggggjjhnnjjfjhhfgfh
NILDEAR:Back in 1955-the medallion was on pavement at the corner of Seventh and Robert, under a mailbox. As Scribe has pointed out-there was too much destruction by frenzied treasure hunters. Not that Scribe remembers 1955,but I was a kid then.
I think Duane just got "the look" on line....
Sue believe it or not I won't be too far from the frog pond, just down the road a piece on McMurray field. I figured Good Luck BTW.Circular thinking would put me to irish and link me to McMurray.
LOL Downtown!
Downtown Dave is probably correct- If they were to hide it on some street corner or on a boulevard or parkway the chaos caused by such a move would ultimately end in litigation
LoL Dave....right in my price range....what is derrick's sight
oh, don't worry, he doesn't have to cook either when he gets home. One of the benefits of being in charge of residence halls is having the opportunity to have others cook for you every day if you don't want to do any dishes! But the cafe does have a closing time and he has a long commute.
Yeah, too bad those days are over! I wish we lived in a society where we could still do that!
"the look" is somebody a GLer
nildear... princeslou says hi
Scribe...thats as good as any places to be diggin....not to mention that is about as big a "depression" you will find around here....most of that field is sunken below the streets
Hey Ex Stud!
hiya scribe
hi princelou.........fellin rich yet?
scribe: post 17987 if you were wondering
Anybody got plans for cOmO tonight?
I guess those typin classes didn't pay off...feelin rich?
Is anyone thinking Phalen?
OOOOOO YA
SCRIBE:You really think it's at Como so soon? When was the last time it was there?I think 1996.
Ex stud, sorry about mcgovs the other night, friend got eviction notice and had to help her move out, couldn't make it
I like Phalen
nildear, you are phalen the test
regalman you missed a fun time and I was right nearly everyone from last year was there plus many other nice folks catcha in o park sometime!
oops, wasn't paying attention, derick's site is http://www.medallionhunt.8k.com/
But who's the 'man of mettle'at Phalen?Who's the 'man of steel, not real'?
The reason I wondered about hiding on the streets.....I was driving to Phalen today and 3 streets in a row were Clark, Desoto and Burr
Ex, what park you favorin? Como or phalen here
David:There was one subject I was really great at in school and that was creative writing! I am very sure I understand this hunt! Circular thinking has also been called clustering.Linking is the next step and just figure in the duality.
thx Dave......why Phalen the test alan?
reg- post 17987
could be FDR
regal- i've got it pegged pretty good and will be out there in about an hour or so
I was mostly kidding, but I dont like Phalen, the clues seem to fit better elswhere. I could just be missing something.
Ex Stud,I think thats a stretch but you got the right answer. I was circular thinking and came up with a dual meaning for circles:1-the carousel(or the conservatory) 2-the name-c O m O.
I am thinking Como, I went and had a looksee today, and I liked it, but I dont know for sure.
Ittiznt at battle creek.
I'm so sure now I'm even going to bring tools and a light
See you out there later Ex Stud! You too Tim!
Gonna eat and nap!:)
Scribe: I know, I was just trying to make a better pun than the 1 about linwood
SCRIBE:You sound like you might seek tonight.I hope you're not the lady I read about a couple of years ago who was poking around at Indian Mounds Park about 3 AM with a lantern."I'll find it if it's the last thing I do"(paraphrase)she said.
This is when it ceases to be fun.
wait until after tonights clue. there is nothing to see except snow ittiz too big.
Ex I got a real good idea there too. Maybe we could meet somewhere and discuss. There is a special meaning to one of the clues that points it out, but only if you keep it simple.
Hubby and me have decided to wait until tomorrow (or maybe late tonight if we are excited). We want to see tonight's clue. Can't decide between Como and Phalen.
Clues seem to fit at Como, but it was just there a few years ago.
regal, what is your idea?
David,
Scribe won't be out there alone.
Too many posts since I last logged in. You people are maniacal!
Leelabell, be bold and go back even though there is too much crap going on. For the past 3 years everytime como has been mentioned, someone shoots it down because of activities. That would be a perfect reason for the cluewriter to put it there, no one would believe it is there again, or with the activities. Don't follow the herd, be bold, be victorious!
regal I have white chev pickup with white tool box at about 7:00
Regal - you have a point about it being bold to be at Como. :)
Frog pond?? I got blue 4 door acclaim. See ya about 7:00. If not frog pond, where??
larry ho field? west picnic area? I dunno.
The consensus now seems to be Como and Phalen. The one most frequent place for hiding I think is Harriet Island.
I still think AA Park is it.At least until the next clues.
Leelabell, if you and the hubby get to excited you won't make it to ANY park, lol.
AA Park???
Was there a dinner bell, or where'd everyone go??
REg, your not thinking like me, but then I grew up when Hamms beer was popular
Good night all - my little medallion hunter just woke up from his nap. Now we are off to dinner and then a few drive bys. Will check in with the cooler later in the evening. Good luck hunting tonight. Stay warm and "sane" if you are out.
Frog pond? Don't the clues tell us to stay away from statues?
if your talking not thinking cuz of frog pond, we are prob thinking the same, cuz it's no where near the frog, just open place to meet, and not putting area in here.
good night and good luck to all
It's a good place to meet in como for being so open, I didn't say it's at the frog pond, I said meet there, step.
AWWWWWW Crap!!!!
Ex frog pond or where??
lol, wolff
Ex frog pond or where??
REGALMAN:I was there yesterday, but very solitary. There were even words carved in the snow, and I thought maybe somehow this bird of peace(dove)was hidden in the words.
But there's no way you can search those words in the snow without distort the words, and making a mess.I decided that wasn't the right word clue.
But Clark St. leads to it,and there's plenty of space.
Oh sorry...missed the first part of the convo!! :)
regal are on your way to Como?
Regal ok I got ya 7 at frog pond dont be late cause im not waiting around there long
Does victorius tell us anything? Victoria runs so near Palace and Linwood? They're both not so big, but I think space is a word to reconsider.
In about 1/2 hour or so
whre exactly is the frogpond- what street?
Yeah, Victoria meets with Como E, Como West, and Como lake dr as well
Straight out from the conservatory, near the top of the snowslide
I was a solitary digger and looker in the area i was in, and to keep em simple, it fits a lot better than the scrutinyt of every word ideas
I'm not sure space means big area.....I don't know whether to take clues simple or read into them. I just think if it was a big park we would have known that before the 6th clue even though they said it would be tougher
Why is everybody so turned off with HF's? Every clue fits in some way, shape or form.
wolf, hidden with 10,000 people, can become very dangerous.
there is no place to play. where can riding around be fun?
Hey, what's up, my cooler crew friends!
I was at my son's after school school and they are having their own medallion hunt on the playground...I couldn't even figure out those clues. I'm in trouble...
hey regg what park ya at?
I was at HF, I may go back!
see yas at mom pp tonight, or at THE park
You can play horseshoes, the good luck clue, plus there is over 6 miles of bike paths.
Hidden Falls is my best bet, everything fits.... everything!
Wolf, almost every park has horseshoe pits and bike paths
You and me are the only two Regg.
Wolfpacc, were you there?
not yet and I have to work again tomorrow but if there aren't any revalations telling us it's for sure at another park I'll Sunday morning. I live in Oakdale and that's a long drive.
I am going to dig my heart out after the clue!
hey hunters, I haven't gone through all the messages, but I haven't seen any Highland talk. I think it would be cool since the first treasure was there, to have an anniversary treasure there 50 years later. Clues 'circular' and 'links' could refer to the disc golf area at Highland?
If it's there I sure hope you find it if I can't.
I have a feeling #7 will point people to HF, one problem, the park will be closed after 10!
Well all, I'm gettin ready to go to froggie to meet some peops. Catch all later
where is HF?
Johnny - I thought of that this afternoon....
Also, it makes a comment about "playing" so maybe you just have to check out every hole...i dont know
A few people earlier have mentioned Battle Creek Park as a possibility. Besides McKnight being the man of steel, how do the other clues fit?
The circular linking clue can spell out city, and HF links the cities together!
Well...I can't see Mom hiding it at HF since they will close at 10...if that's the case.
I really don't think Battle Creek, there's no other clues leading there!
Hidden Falls is out by the Ford plant.
Stepdogg - I just have a weird feeling about the whole circular thing, and bringing it back 'full circle' to Highland lights my bulb...
The clue says it links the TREASURE.....not cities
It's been at Hidden Falls twice, including '93
That's always what I thought.
I was always thinking Eastview up to now, but after last night not so sure.
There are baseball fields there, but I cannot relate riding around to it.
What clue is that StepDogg?
and johnny, the whole east/west thing....there are 11 holes to the west of antonio drive and only one to the east....also a ballfield to the east.
I know but it says that circular thinking is one way of linking! If you think circular and come up with city. Then you are linking up the cities and finding your treasure at HF!
Stepp Dog, Disc golf? Highland?
Johnny Look at my posting #17690 and tell me what you think?
Hey...i'm not saying you guys are wrong, i just dont know what to make of these clues
Hello!
Big plan to get out of work early to dig got whittled away and soon I was there as late as usual. Really sux!!!
Looks like everyone has their own interpretation of the clues.
For what it's worth - the only thing that bothers me about any of the usual big parks is the fact that nothing has been said yet about a park - just public ground. No water. No trees. No picnic stuff. Only bases.
Could "off base" mean, in terms of baseball, that you are on the bench? If so, could they be pointing us to the sidelines of a baseball field?
Hey everybody=)
I know step.
Elsea are you in here?
17690 is making me think! I may need to do some background research on that! HF Still looks better, but Highland is getting to me
Regg man my father- in -law and i did all the research last night and it all works so far
Highland works fine, but so does HF.
This damn hunt is driving me crazy!!!!
I know Ill be in a padded room very soon!
Alot of the big parks work....that's the problem!
It seems like either near baseball fields or an army reserve base! The victorious thing sounds like the army.
I really think highland with all the stuff comming out on charles shultz lately
HF and Highland work the best!
I keep wanting to get a good night sleep but now I got to wait for the next clue.
Could "off base" mean, in terms of baseball, that you are on the bench? If so, could they be pointing us to the sidelines of a baseball field?
At Highland, we can have my friend look out for people, he lives on the park!
I think the 7th clue will tell us THE park. It's about time!
hey cougar, is it still at valley???
I really don't suspect valley! It just doesn't go together
Highland has no statues, however; and it says stay away from golf courses if you are leaning toward that disc throwing area.....
Teddy.... Never thought it was at Valley.
I always thought Eastview, but now not sure.
I think Hidden Falls seems like the place. And sspclassof69, disc golf courses don't count as golf courses, they just don't want you screwin' up fairways and greens of real golf courses
Cherokeeprice, are you here? :)
Anybody here??
I have three parks in mind, como, phalen, and one which I'd rather not talk about until I prove it. I allready supported my first one with the evedence of the first clue
Regg man where is hidden falls park...i can't find it on my map
does anyone have any ideas about Crosby Park??
Teddy I love the name I love that movie!!!!!
donna...hidden falls is along mississippi rvr. blvd by the ford plant
Hey Regg - Disc Golf IS real golf. The ONLY golf!! :)
I agree though that it could be around there but just not by a basket. People might get upset with the golf/no golf thing
Phillip D...never let it die
in st paul
yes, in highland park...just south of the ford bridge
that is right Teddy.... I need to go pick it up on DVD now.. :-)
How does anyone feel about the fairgrounds?
For HF: You take east river road beyond the ford plant until you see an entrance. There are 2 entrances, but only 1 is ever open.
thanks inspector
hey ClueMaster!!! - If by some remote chance the find IS near Highland Disc Golf. I hope the planter knew there was going to be a BIG Disc Tournament tomorrow. Maybe, it gets kicked up by US as we play!!!
I dont think it's at the fairgrounds, and I will bet it!
the fairgrounds is in Falcon Heights, not St. Paul
I'm starting to think this treausre is hidden on a public school's feilds. Think about it.....first clue on your toes until june, Highscchool, the high is on the toes, and june is when schools gets out.
thanks regg
Cougar - FG ruled out awhile back because of the stay off of private property clue. Grounds are privately owned. Try taking out a shovel out there and you'll find out real quick. Been there, been kicked out too.
I have 16 disc golf discs, I have competed a few times!
JB - Unfortunately my disc's won't be touching the ground tomorrow so I won't be able to uncover the Med. :)
Anyone have any thoughts on Crosby???
Falcon Heights uses St Paul Police, Water, Fire, plows, etc. Plus, a falcon is a bird that enforces peace, as is referenced in the military. Circular thinking: Either the grandstand's racetrack (also deals with riding and steering clues) or the space needle.
Anyone have any thoughts on Crosby???
ClueMaster - Hmmmm let me guess, an ace on 12 with 300 people watching. Oh NO wait, that was your brother....:)
I was at Como today, I found a greeting card with Twetie the bird on it, but no luck under it
JB - He's NEAT!!!!
There is a grass ballfield next to the 12 disc hole!
Cougar...who cares what the st. paul police do...it is outside the city limits
Cluemaster: How about the parking lots that are owned by the U of M? That should be public property, and is definitely "off-base"
Tom H. -That would have been incredible and impressive. I bet your adrenaline shot up for a second.
That campus is called the SAINT PAUL campus
Cougar, many people (not me, because I am not stupid) have been caught bringing shovels to the fairgrounds!
does anyone think circular thinking has to do with a bathroom?
Regg - You're right. It was across Montreal the last time it was there. It could be on the other side this time. You comin out to play tommorrow? - Hey, did you just Dis me on the shovel thing? Pal
C - I like the space needle thing too. Who knows
oh wait...i don't know what I was thinking
It can be the fairgrounds, because they use the mailing address as "St Paul"
Cluemaster, I may go disc golfing, depending upon the outcome of the 7th clue tonight. I am planning on spending all day digging at parks and chatting at cooler crew tomorrow!
BUT ITS OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMIT..MEANING NOT INSIDE THE CITY LIMIT
I like the concept of big and open, enough to fill 2 or 3 times the usual turnout. The Press would be smart to anticipate HUGE crowds and not put the med. in a tiny park, or one that is close to heavy traffic, etc...
I don't think I would of gotten caught at the fairgrounds if it wasn't for the fact that I had a body in the trunk and it was the middle of summer. So Be careful.
OH boy ClueMaster Im staying away from you LOL j/k=)
I think it's at Hidden Falls or Highland, and since they are close, you can hit them both in one day!
I think it has to be downtown, or downtown has to be visable for the 1st bank building, cashing in the bank, because we were told its deep in the snow, stating its in a snow bank means a double clue, which I think won't happen. I beleive the Circular Thinking has somwthing to do with all the places layed out. I'm starting to wonder if the circular their talking about is not about the shape, but about a newspaper, i.e. a newpaper box
Highland pretty much has that open area where it was before as their Big open area. It won't be on the open area on the back half because that's where the golf holes are. You think it would be by the police station again? I liked the bridge outlining the old folks home view. Kinda like the big W
But afterall, the clues points elsewhere
Codemaster, ain't there a golf cource across the street from the station, and the pool is right by the station>
Hey Cougar...just go search in the fairgrounds, and when the ST. PAUL COPS pull you over...just let them know your searching for the medallion
No Cluemaster, you are cool, I WAS DISSIN COUGAR BECAUSE HE HAS NO BRAIN!
ClueMaster.
I am not saying directly on the fairgrounds property, but rather the PUBLIC institution immediately next to it called the U of M- SAINT PAUL. Circular thinking: Street called Buford circle, surrounded with buildings of higher learning. Not too far away, there are baseball fields, one east and one west, with a playground for daycare.
Hey..my friend lives on maywood circle...I think its on his front steps...what do you think?
COUGAR, IF YOU ARE SO CONFIDENT, GO TO THE FAIR AND START DIGGING, AND, YOU WILL BE DIGGIN TILL JUNE!
I don't think the U of M would agree (if they had the chance to) to thousands of folks diggin up their grounds...
Cougar...there was a guy by the fairgrounds with a CIRCULAR saw...I would dig there
JB - Yes?
Regg - I didn't know anybody read edits. No offense taken
Tom - That same course goes around the whole park
Teddy - I did a few years ago and they Did kick us out saying that we would be arrested to trespassing. That's how I found out the private property thing.
HEY, COUGAR, MY HOUSE HAS A SAINT PAUL ADDRESS, MABYE IT'S IN MY BACKYARD!
Any new thinking besides:
HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP HF HP
would be nice. Maybe I can at least shift people's thinking to other possibilities, even though mine most probably is incorrect. Any other options besides HP or HF by now?
I don't think it is at the fairgrounds - Last year I went through there at night and security threw us out pretty fast. - Jill
JB - Love your 2nd line LOL :) :) :)!!
oh my god Cougar is the MOLE lol sorry had to say something
There was plenty of folks diggin at COMO today after KQ was live there this morning.
Cougar: "the medallion can not be near the water towers at HP"
But I think it is next to the water towers at HP
HEY COUGAR, TRY DIGGIN UP THE POLICE STATION!
Regg...I know your trying...but the funny train left the station 20 minutes ago....
YOU'RE LATE
LOL regg- I can think of a lot of circular things in and around there
HEY COUGAR, TRY CHECKING IN YOUR PANTS, THAT'S IN ST.PAUL!
Is this pick on Cougar hour? Give 'em a break.
SORRY REGG...I STAND CORRECTED
ACTUALLY THAT IS IN WOODBURY
Thank you Johnny
SHit!...my "mouse clicking" finger is getting sore from all this lurkin....*grin*
