bank accout shrinking thing tells me the medallion will be found on one side of the park furthest away from the 1st national bank sign as you walk away from the big red one, your account will be shrinking. The east side of the park.
I dont know, im just askin, if you were to go there, "where" would you go, its a big ass park
I might go to hidden, but there are a few other places i'd rather go to.
has anyone seen the size of a dove icecream bar box? hmmmmm
I don't think it would fit ---> the "mettle" that is...
Some of the gates are locked up for winter, so probally not there...lol
I am getting really tierd, so I am going. Bye, see you soon
Night, Regg
I agree that "mettle" means just that; a man with "pluck or fortitude" (according to my thesaurus). Personally, I think this points to a street with the name of a particularly noble man. I also think that the "fettle" part has to do with exercise; perhaps a biking path or fitness course nearby (said thesaurus has "fitness" and "good condition" as synonyms for fettle). Don't know what park this would lead us to, but perhaps with some sleep I'll have more energy to think. Also, I predict that this clue will be the one for which, after the meaning is revealed, I'll slap my forehead and wonder why I couldn't see what it meant. Oh, well. Maybe it'll all come together for me in a dream. That would be handy.
Anyone still here? I just got back from across the street, it looks good over there, im gonna warm up and go back over there, and then if no luck after a while, im gonna hop in the car and hit a few other parks. what are you guys thinkin?
hey face, what park did you go to?
mettle refers to middle
fettle -- is a state if physical fitness or order
or to cover or line the hearth=(a brick or stone, or cement area in
front of a fire place) of ( as reverbatory furnace) with fettling
1. The Treasure is in St.Paul 2. Its no where near a statue, golf course or private property 3. Its just out of view of a tire swing...you might want to keep an eye out for something money related i.e. Bank, Prosperity, or this could just reference the treasure itself 4. Its not downtown, and its hidden in a pile of leaves under snow 5. Watch out for a name of a man that has been couragious or had determination. The item is inside of a Dove Soap Box
If they were referencing a 'man of steele' then they would've said
"A man of steel CAN be real but another has plenty of mettle
Phalen Rec, i live right across the street
oh ya, I remember now. You know the memory is the 1st thing to go, go figure; it's 1:11 a.m.
Good Night and Happy hunting!
Hey, Crappy, what if someone else finds it? are you still gonna have that party?
so how are you applying Clue #5. I'm pretty familiar with phalen and the rec center. I live in No. St. paul.
Fettle is refering to being in fine shape if your on the right track
Faaaaaace??? still there? Don't the gates close at phalen every night? Just playing devils advocate here.
it says "we'll" be in great shape
well, im just going off the other clues for now...i gotta put 5 into when im out there..i dont know yet
just back forth like this onebrunodiggs.... this is supposed to be a message board, not a chat place...but we've been shaping it to our needs...
as far as I know, just back and forth. Unless you has instant messenger.
Faaaaaaaaaaaace????????
Any thoughts on Como?
if you read the answers of every past clue, you'll see they are pretty straight forward... not much digging involved
Como bites
I dunno J, i might decide to have it....i gotta think about that.
THANX
mettle- 1. quality of temperament or disposition <gentleman of brave ~ --Shak.> 2. a :vigor and strength of spirit or temperament: Ardor < suspected to have more tongue in his head than~ in his bosom - sir walters scott> b. staying quality : stamina <trucks had proved their ~ in army transport -- pioneer & peacemaker >
but it may have as much as a chance as any other park we've mentioned.
why?
Its harder to find the treasure if you start with what its hidden in first and then work your way up to the name of the park...
como is still on the top of my list
como has rings for thinking in circles and a bank named after it near by chilled2001
didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. I'm just getting tired. Tomorrows clue will probibly make me eat my words.
Hey, Crappy, since you live like 3 or 4 blocks from it, did you graduate from JHS? and if so, what year?
I have thoughts on Como:Deploy Mettle can mean send out troops and the army is there building the slide. Also, face:cafe and Playing: THEY DO PLAYS THERE ALSO.
como also has all the entertainment stuff on the grounds
2001, that's interesting
I've ruled it down to the following parks: Arlington/Arkwright Park Battle Creek Park Beaver Lake Park Cherokee Park Como Park Conway Park Crosby Farm Park Frost Lake Park Hidden Falls Park Highland Park Hillcrest Rec Center Langford Rec Center Linwood Rec Center Marydale Park Merriam Rec Center Indian Mounds Park Newell Park Phalen Park Sackett Rec Center Swede Hollow Park
Did I miss any? hehehe
Exactly and there is a bronze looking metal statue there also. Wasn't the Olympics people there for something lately also?
J, I went there yes, but I didnt graduate, I stopped going 4th quarter of freshman year, and then re-enrolled junior year, because i had nothing better to do, and then I dropped out again Senior year and now im going to that Frog Town Area Learning Center place.
Ok, so what year were you supposed to graduate in?
hopefully the next clue will narrow it down. We can still make the clues fit a number of parks.
And escape the herds........theres definently going to be herds there by next weekend!!!!!!!!!
Why Beaver Lake? just curious
V.J. I would have graduated in 99
Dude....thats my year. Who did you hang out with? or sit by at lunch? when you were actually there, that is
I thought of Como too, after the 1st couple of clues. but it's a big park. If there's one thing I've learned after years of hunting; don't exhaust yourself right out of the gate, unless you darn sure where it is. Save energy for later.
Someone once said "I can apply all these clues to my backyard"
To escape the herd find a peaceful bird (dove)
somewhere deep in the snow
Our treasure is boxed inside the word
And that's what you need to know
SO OUR TREASURE IS BOXED INSIDE THE WORD DOVE,
making that a dove soap or chocalate bar box
V.J. I dont know, I hung out with alotta people that went there, and that didnt go there.
not como
Yeah your probably right but so far evry clue fits there without much twisting or turning things around. It seem every year I read to much into the clues and this year I'm staying simple and it seem to make sense.LOL!!!!!!!!
The medalion will be hid in a DOVE soap box per clue #4.
Kiki, very true. The man of steel cannot be real is my hubby's vision of himself. And I have Dove's in my yard in the summer. and I have a big wood swingset back there too. HOLY CRAP, it was all under my nose all the time.
Where's that Mardi Gras shindig goin down?
someone mentioned Beaver Lake, will someone tell me why?
Diggin' Queen... you are so funny LOL
Crappy, just name a few people that you hung out with inside or outside of school.
and my bank account really shrunk after my trip to Florida, and there is a steering wheel on the play set. COOL
Goodnite all!!!!!!!! Maybe tommorrows clue will be the clincher?????
Mardi Gras? isnt that in New Orleans?
DG did you by chance visit Discovery Cove?
nite 2001.
nite all brian storm for me
Dude, read the stuff on top of the page. It's Mardi Gras night tonight at 11.
Just back from Loab Lake/Marydale. Some clues fit pretty good but others are a stretch. It could work because of the long wait to totally reveal the park. They usually wait on smaller parks to give definite clues. Only a few of us die hards out there though. Anybody else back from 'out there' anywhere?
no one yet, your the 1st
No, we went to Universal this time. But the cove is definatly on my list. I heard you have to make reservations a year ahead on time. We just ran away from the kids for a 4 day weekend.
I'm about to hit a couple places after I find out more about this Mardi Gras thing.
all we got so far is that it's in a dove soap box
ok "DUDE" jeez, dont get so pissy.
ClueMaster - since you've been doing this for a long time, you familiar with Martin Luther King Park?
Back from Marydale looks pretty good. I am exited it is the park of my dreams
I got reservations for March 1st :) Im there for 10 days doing the disney stuff and Escape thing and of course busch cant wait!!!
Whats happening cluemaster?
why is that alan
back from minnehaha rec... nuttin' doin really, I haven't ever been there, so I got my bearing around there, that's it...
Yeah, I like the Dove soap box better than the ice cream bar idea because of the white box being harder to see. I suppose that's been done to death already though.
Thanks Clue, I was wondering.
Brew, It was cold when we went down last weekend. 40's-50's But we rented a convertable, and were going around with the top down anyways. People were loooking at us like we were crazy. The Floridians were wearing there winter coats, hats and mittens. Seriously!
why do you both have to have ICP screen names anyways! ICP SUCKS!
I know I swam in St. Petes when it was 65. those people thought I was totally nuts!!! pssst.... which I am anyway
Cluemaster, you have im? One of the film guys told me a joke you gotta hear!
I live very close to there
Wheres Martin Luther King Park?
clues=park=vacation spots?...
Tower of Terror and the rocking rollercoaster at MGM are fabulous!!! I could go on those all day. Also if you make it to universal the Hulk coaster and Terminator ride are really cool.
so what i used to ride my bike there all the time when i was younger, that doesn't make it the park of my dreams
Yeppers I been there before Did ya check out the Spider Man 3d coaster??
Violent J -
On the corner of Kent and Marshall St, slightly west of downtown
south of 94, east of dale. by the cathedral.
MLK is by Marshal(one way) Kent, and a couple other seamingly insignificant streets that I can not remember at the moment
come on ALAN give us the goods
It's not a coaster. It's a 3-D ride. If you like to get queezy it's for you. But take your Dramimine.
hey gang we are looking staute!!!thats the clue
Clue No. 1: (The dig is on!) Go through the cold and prepare to be bold, Or you won't find the secret item Our beloved St. Paul is the place for gold, Dig elsewhere and you'll search ad infinitum Last year at Newell our fate was most cruel, Unfortunately the game ended too soon Come now and prepare for a much tougher duel, Keep on your toes or you'll hunt until June
Clue No. 2: (stay away from statues, golf courses, and private property) There's no need to destroy as you deploy For the hunt in our wonderful town Golf courses and statues you must not annoy And please steer clear of all private ground
Clue No. 3: (I think its a clue to a tire swing just out of view-could be wrong though- the references to circular and linking are intriguing) Circular thinking can be one way of * linking To the treasure that lies out of view. Your bank account won't be shrinking If you can figure out this clue.
Clue No. 4: (Not Downtown. look in a pile of leaves near the playground where the tire swing is at)
East and west are part of our test Though only one is the proper place If this choice leaves you depressed Playing might put a smile on your face
Clue No. 5: (Look for a something with a man's name on it. Inside of a Dove Soap Box in a pile of leaves under snow)
A man of steel cannot be real but another has plenty of mettle Look for his name around our deal and you'll be in very fine fettle To escape the herd find a peaceful bird somewhere deep in the snow Our treasure is boxed inside the word and thats what you need to know
I would just like it to be there very much
Sup Jake - You end up going out anywhere? I tried calling Green on her cell but no answer. I figured I could look around Marydale for you fellow ciber geeks.
Alan - Was that you and you gal I was blabbin with out at Marydale?
Vipe - MLK park is small but has many little obsticales that fit every year for some reason. One year I was way off and just SWORE it was there. My buddy and I camped over night on 3 consecutive nights as others ended up leaving. But we were sure!! Oh well, you need to be humble sometime.
south of 94, east of dale. by the cathedral.
how about the theory of mcKnight (man of steel) any one agree?
could possibly see a bank sign off in the distance....
thanks for the info.
Hey, Crappy, quitcher clown bashin yo! you were the one in here whining about wanting to make a truce before
Ther were people there when I was there, about half an hour ago, but nobody talked to me. Everybody I saw was very secretive.
brew i said that earlier and i think it's got a chance
Capitol Mall- looks pretty good.
south of 94, east of dale. by the cathedral.
Brew
I like the Mc Knight idea, but it could still mean anything. I'm kinda partial to Kent street. I'd like to see MLK
Thanks for the Mark KiKi
what part of town is MLK considered to be in?
I mentioned it too check out a couple posts before that one :) Just no one makes any comment on it
I can't see them putting it at mlk there isn't a lot of parking space
I can not put all the clues to mlk, I like the Kent idea also
Cuz superman is certainly not real....
well guys, you fight it out. Brew, maybe if I cant talk my hubby into going with me some night, or even if I can, maybe we could meet up some night. If it ever gets narrowed down.
MLK has mettle
certainly Alan... we were actually think mettle was a reference to 'medal' as in medallion
what does mettle mean again? Character?
courage/determination/etc
You are pretty close queen- courage, character, good disposition
THNX
vigor and strength of spirit or temperament
Jake - Sorry, I was up getting some hot dogs. Green made me hungry with her talk of Coneys and all. What was the crew's joke? Hopefully not us :)
cool dg i gotta go do some research brb
brb??
I think it is used to refer to somebody with mettle, although I could be wrong. They say a man of steel can not be real but another has plenty of mettle- look for another
are you guys saying mlk community center, because it's not a park
IM me Cluemaster, it was funny.
i'll be right back i'm doing a little digging in the maps, books , what have ya noodle I guess these people call it
dosn't have to be a park
It is a rec center(MLK)
i'm just saying that it's not a park
J - ? IM (missing something)
it's also not that big
Look for a something with a man's name on it. Inside of a Dove Soap Box in a pile of leaves under snow
Instant message!
OK, but there is no specific reference to a park
Jake, ittiz just your night to have to deal with dolts! Me and C'Master!
C'Master... WHERE did you get the dogs? NOT at Gopher, did you???? I tried to get the phone in time, but it was in my coat pocket... I left you a message.
I have it narrowed down to two parks either Phalen or BCP
I couldn't see that IM - How da hell do I expect to find the Medallion. I guess I Phale at life. Good one:)
hey alan i know it doesn't say anything about a park i'm just informing the folks that it's not a park OK
why phalen
or BC for that matter.
Make sure everyone discards clues 1 & 2. #1 was made for the soul purpose of putting the words Goodluck down the side. #2 Was telling us to stay off the GolfCourses, Statues, and private property
marydale also has kent st
OK, just trying to keep usefull conversation flowing
Alan, you're soo on task, were you a strait A student?
Hi Green - Got the dogs from Simon Delivers. I try not to shop in stores too much anymore. MMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMMM
Where did you leave ME a message - My cell?
I am a straight C or B, sometimes A student
Cluemaster- You got IM or no?
Has anyone have any other suggestions beside my tire swing thoughts on this statement?
Circular thinking can be one way of * linking To the treasure that lies out of view.
the clue of 'one proper place' like the one and only in reference to the big ice Castle (palace) they had there. For some reason I link an English meaning to the word proper
my IM is kiki651, you can just pass me those thoughts to ;) hehehe
J - Apparently not - I thought you meant your second line of info under your name. What do I do?
Ok, I can see that, so how does that phrase apply to BC
Kiki - The small parking lot at Marydale is a circle
give me your e- mail and then delete it right away...I will e-mail you the joke
the unfortunate thing is that it doesn't say "one proper place" it says "East and west are part of our test Though only one is the proper place" Which leads me to believe its certainly not downtown...
Well kids just got back from MLK rec center and not a whole lot there!!!
It sure is
The castle was built on a little island(circular thinking) bridged(link) to the rest of Phalen. Phalen is associated with EAST just guessing im not sure of anything these are just thoughts that pop into my little mind
The one thing that I don't like about Phalen is that they close the road gates to the park at 10 or 11, and there's not an easy way in. I hung out there as a teen. So I know it like the back of my hand.
Does every east side kid hang out there as a teen?
now with #5 , I like mcKNIGHT ave. thats by BCP
I think there was some big hoopla surrounding Phalen and the medallion hunt....because some of the park is not in St.Paul. I vote its not there
C'Master... Yup on the cell phone.
Again:
My Take On The Clues:
#1 This park has been the place for many gold medals, and is within the city limits of St. Paul. Many duels or contests have taken place in this park (and continue to), as well as many dualities concern it - only one of which was that you had to "keep on your toes."
#2 Stay off private ground and don't mess with any statues or golf courses.
#3 Circular thinking/linking refers to bicyles. This is part of one of the dualities.
#4 East and west is another duality of the park, but which is correct? (*I* know!) Playing referrs to playing fields in the park.
#5 Could be one o'two guys... I'm going with the lesser talked about. And I really think they meant "mettle" and not "metal."
So far, everything fits. However, everything fit last year until that 7th Clue!!!
Auggie - is there a statue or bust of MLK there?
also....
- is the playground in the SOUTHWEST corner of the park?
Alan, I think so. When you get a car you have to squeel the tires out of the parking lots. What's funny is when someone pops the clutch and kills the car!!!!
The area right across from the driving range (steer clear) there is no gate there.
Green, what about whats NOT in any of these clues???
No vipe, no bust or statue...playgroung on northwest corner
You must squeel the tires and smoke cigarettes, and in a certain era you must play hacky sack
Hell I dont know nothing I'm aimlessly throwing thoughts out there. When they come into my mind I send them here
Brew, yes there is. It's off of 61. There are only 2 ways into that park by car and they both get closed by gates.
Kiki, I used to work for the city of Maplewood, and most of the park is in St.Paul, anyplace where they could hide it is 90 % in St. Paul.
My take Green:
#1 Is a void clue because it was created for the sole purpose of putting the word Goodluck on the side of it
#2 Is void because its just telling us to stay off of private property, golf courses and statues
#3 Is a tire swing (or swings) just out of view 'circular+linking' and look for possible banks around it, in sight or a reference too - the bank statement could just be refering to the medallion iself though too..
#4 I think this is saying stay away from downtown, and that you should dig in a pile of leaves, under snow for the buried treasure
#5 Look for a name of a man in the immediate area. Its inside of a Dove Soap Box
I like your ideas though too Green
Jake, what if The Doofy Clue Writer(s) are being bold this year???? And not going to refer to water? You could be sitting around this time next year just waiting for a water clue when, even tho you're surrounded by water up to your nose, The Doofy Clue Writer(s) choose NOT to use it.
Ittiz their game, not ours. We gotta go with what's given us.
And the fat lady ain't sung yet either. There's still time for water clues.
Alan, Would I age myself if I said I once owned a hacky sack.
perhaps, they have come and gone in a big way twice
Thanks, Kiki!
I've a park all this applies to. I'm not looking for a name, I'm omitting it.
Alan, just curious, are you a teen, 20 something, 30 something etc.?
24
Brew, how bout you?
Brew, ya still talking to me after the gate thing?
So Alan, ya live on the east side? I grew up in Maplewood, and now like in No. St. Paul.
evrything so far leads to mlk.....circular thinking, now everyone thought I was crazy but....if you write "thinking" in a circle, you could read it as think king. The man of steel is superman or clark KENT (kent st.).....a man with plenty of mettle, or courage would be mlk...so all you have to do is find a Dove soap box or a Dove ice cream bar box by a picture of a bird...probably also a Dove.
correction, live in No. St. Paul
My take on this statement: In the clues they are trying to rhyme... so if there are two words that ryhme, one of the words are null and void. I choose fettle to be null and void leaving us with the word "mettle"
"A man of steel cannot be real but another has plenty of mettle. Look for his name around our deal and you'll be in very fine fettle"
I live on the north side, but went to Harding
Auggie, I like that!
Harding????????? I went to Hill Murray
auggie auggie auggie!
Oye Oye Oye!
Brew, did ya leave me???
Oh, my GODS! I just realized that the guy I've picked to Bee my answer to who the real guy is/was...
Has a "dual" (2) in his history!
I can't make up my mind if this is a coincidence, or not...
Now I'm second guessing myself. Nope, not gonna do that. Gonna stick with my first choice.
How much longer 'til the next Clue????????
Kiki isn't that what the energizer guy used to say!
Well Coolers, I've gotta be a party pooper and go to bed. I've got to get up early and spoil my "playing hookie from work cause it's his birthday" hubby, and make him a nice breakfast. Yes, she can dig for treasure and cook too!!! Imagine that.
Nite All. Talk to ya tomorrow.
Auggie....hehehe....ever been to Uncle Chunk?
have a toilet named uncle chunk....if there is a real uncle chunk place, nope i have never been there
What?!? No one going to say goodnight to me and wish me sweet treasure hunting dreams? I'm sooooo hurt.
good night.......now leave!!!!!! just kidding
Its a local band that jams out in the twin cities: http://www.unclechunk.com/
he he he
Nope never seen them....what kind of music?, must be drinking music!!!
yeah, they play all sorts of types of music....most suitable for people ages 21-30... because yes, drinking is mandatory. They are a huge local band, they always pack the bars.
ok all...time to retire to my chambers...the dentist will be awaiting me tomorrow morning..the day i will be ten thousand dollars richer
just hate it when bands play all sorts of music because you just can't listen to more than one song at a time!!! ;-)
You so silly Auggie! hehehe
Gnite Ya'll
SCD's Kiki, Auggie and you2 DQ - Me too - Long day of diggin tomorrow
Last one up again. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Joe!
Night, All!
We'll leave a light on for those of you showing up late (or early, depending upon your mindset)... And there's plenty o'hot, fresh coffee.
"Now I lay me down to sleep
The Med - in snow - should safely keep.
If ittiz found Beefore I wake,
I pray the Devil the *@&^!#^ take!"
Nitol!!! See you later!
Not so fast, ClueMaster. Time has shown that few can outlast me into the nighty-night hours. And for a couple more days, I've got the added bonus of two extra hours thanks to my West Coast perch. Just two more days, and I'll be freezing my a** off with you guys in St. Paul. Two days.....
And, check this out, I actually got a Joe!
Green!!!! Are you frickin' kiddin' me!
In the years we've been doing this, I seriously think I've only gotten one or two Joe's. A couple of nights ago DDY beat me to it.
I may just have to fight my way to #15260 just to feel good about myself again. I'm worried my slowness on the draw is going to leave me in the lurch when the diggin' gets good. I'd hate to be sitting there, gasping over my shovel when someone screams out those dreaded words: "I found it!"
OH, NO!!!
I'm sorry!
Greg, ittiz SOOOOOO GOOD to hear from you!!! Can't wait to see you!!!
JOE!!!!!!
Well, goodnite, Greg. Neat seeing you here. There's plenty o'coffee. Have a great evening and see you soon!
SCDs, All!
Okay, just ran off a quick e-mail to thank our wonderful Cooler Crew archivists. Where was I? Oh, yeah. Trying to catch a Joe...
And...
That's more like it! JOE!!!
Aces, y'all. I'll be lurking for a bit in case anyone signs in. I've got TONS of slogging to do. I haven't really noodled clues four and five at all due to real job obligations. Work's a bummer during the hunt, so I finally got my act together and decided to take time off this year. Others have been doing it for years. Once the coolercrew.com article archives begin to take shape, you'll read about some fantastic characters. One lady comes up from Florida every year. I bet there are more like her, too.
I can vouch for my wife and I who will be making the journey from San Francisco; and Trent and Jackie, the documentary filmmakers, have come in from NYC.
So the hunt is officially coast-to-coast in 2001! Woo hoo!
Good night DG sorry but I was 'working' on something. I got something to throw out #5 refers to two different things one being superman and one being SuperAmerica. If I got this right, there is a sa staion on Mcknight (man of steel-superman) another clue says put a smile on your face(minneHAHA) Mcknight and Minnehaha intersect each other at Battle Creek Park .
I was thinking of SuperAmerica myself. I certainly wouldn't rule it out, BUT the clue says "look for his name" not "look for part of a name" or something to that effect. The clue writers can be vague, but they don't generally expect us to reach too far. They let us reach on our own. I'm more into the idea of Kent Street.
Noodling toward the East Side is a fine idea, though.
FYI I have done some research and found out the the man of steel was a book written by Harry Elders but I doubt if this has anything to do with the clues.
Man, whoever said that Marydale was a good park to go look, was on somethin, me and Shaggy 2 Dope just got done there and its whack as hell, its about the size of my front yard, give or take a couple feet. and pretty much NOTHING matches up cept the street names. We also went to MLK, and the same thing....the park has a "SMALL" bit of potential, but we'll see what the next clue brings forth. AND I'LL WARN YA'LL IN ADVANCE!! STAY AWAY FROM THE TREES!! we went through them and were chased out by a swarm of giant flying squealing bats.
I am leaning more and more to BCP. I know that side of town well. Something is scratching at me and telling me it is here. All the clues fit almost perfectly. Again, it is just speculation at this point.
Yeah Im with DaBrewGuy, Battle Creek seems to be the best. I've been to every park/rec center mentioned, and most are straight up mad silly, but there are 1 or 2 with some potential.
I'm also starting to think that "duel" is telling us each clue yields a double standard. Perhaps, two 'hints' for one clue.
alright here's the deal, I'm bouts to go do that thing where you lay around for a couple hours with your eyes closed. If I see that I have 1,000 messages to slog, grog, or whatever you do with em, I'll be one unhappy wicked clown.
And listen to that Brewdude, he knows what he's talkin bout.
Thanks Shaggy that was pretty 'cool'
Everybody must be huntin' err.... or sleeping I wonder which one it is.... or perhaps all the regs are laughing at all those people in the frog pond who knows
I can operate ibm 9672, windows based, but I have all sorts of problems with Linux. Red Hot linux blows!! Thats my humble opinion
Here is what first came to mind for me, since I just woke up now and read the clue. Man of steel = tin man from the wizard of oz. I was thinking that perhaps Jack Haley, the original Tin Man might play some role in this. Any thoughts?
A man of steel cannot be real But another has plenty of mettle Look for his name around our deal And you'll be in very fine fettle --------------------------------- Isn't it strange how mettle means courage, and the cowardly lion...
what is the history of Mr Rice(Rice street)????
Another twist to this tale.... 'VERY FINE' could possibly be a reference to a juice bottle.
I'm stuck on BCP until something tells me differently.
5th clue has a 'duel' hint... man of steel not real thing refers to a KNIGHT (mcknight) and ;ANOTHER; refers to a SuperAmerica on Mcknight keeping in mind 'put a smile on your face' MinneHAHA crosses mcKNIGHT low and behold right across the street we have Battle Creek Regional Park. Look for the 6th clue to disclose a source of 'water' Bet on it.
I'm off to the BWCA for the weekend. I'll be back Sunday night. GOOD LUCK every one.
Checkin' prefs' sorry
Man of steel, but another has plenty of mettle (courage). Man of courage? Who is referred to as a man of courage, all I can think of is Nelson Mandela
This man of steel or courage, his name is in the park or surrounding the park. Whether it be a street, business, dedicated bench, etc.
