Too much useless bickering!! People need to consolodate their thoughts!

I am somewhat concerned about the legality of having clue printouts and the like for validity. Can someone tell me who I can call to ask about this? Or can someone back up their statements? I don't need anyone's opinion on their interpretation, I need fact.

I've seen the printed rules. Do the printouts qualify only for the drawing or for the entire shabang? It could be taken (and/or intended) both ways, and considering how many errors have already happened this year (ad infinatum, anybody? Where is that on the website's 1st clue??), I'm not ready to take any chances.

Matt - I was wondering the same thing regarding the exceptance of the on-line clues allowed to be admissible. I started making 500 printouts a day of the current clue. I'll be in Florida before this thing is over(sarcasm) But somebody could, and it sounds like it would be OK even if they come from a copy machine. I didn't see where it said one entry per person. I'm going to go back and check to be sure. Time to stock up on stamps

I'm just getting going tonight and am wondering about the latest clue. I saw the correction to the typo (I cannot believe that they really screwed that up by accident).

There's a little lake off of 61 in Phalen. Here are my thoughts:

Circular thinking - Round Lake

Linking - Between Keller and Phalen Golf courses

Bank account won't be shrinking - Prosperity St. or "Goodrich", as in Goodrich Park? Also across from Goodrich Golf Course

Ideas?

New Daddy - 07:58pm Jan 23, 2001 CST (#12830 of 28288) Mark Reply

Gregor - good thoughts. Circular thinking could also mean a word game such as an anagram, or that the clues will not lead us to the park but the area around the park. or a circular object may be visible at or near the park but you can't see it from the treasure site

Let me introduce myself. I'm the feared Night Digger. A family curse was place upon me about 25 years ago at Highland Park. My mother & her sister picked up and threw away the medallion. It had been burnt in a fire and was disfigured. It turned out they had the prize but mistoke it for a burned piece of rubbish. I was traumatized as a young lad and each year since I'm been searching between Midnight and Sunrise for the prize. I can not show my face in the light so I'm doomed to walk the parks each bitter cold night for the rest of my exsistance. (Evil Laugh Ha Ha Ha Ha)

Palace = place for gold; also bordered by Palace Ave.; horseshoes = Good luck in first clue; bordered by view street = out of view; bordered by Jefferson street = reference to dual or all those battle type words (deploy, destroy, etc); has ice rink; bordered by fence = circular thinking and linking might be chain link fence; I'm sure there is more but that's what I get at face value.

Wakefield Park is out. I'm a former City of Maplewood parks worker and they will never have it there again. Ballfields where all torn up and some damage was done to the warming house. I left the city and took a night job (Evil Laugh Ha Ha Ha Ha). Digging at Night gives you an advantage of a one day head start. I was first on the scene at Cherikee Park 4 years ago and most years I am first on the scene. Been within 20 feet of the treasure 20 of the last 25 years. But digging at night you cant see as well and the chains of torment I drag around cut off the moonlight. So I will never find the treasure. I hope a Water Cooler member finds it this year.

I, personally, am waiting until tonight's clue to find a favorite park/rec area to argue for. I can come up with tie ins for many large parks (Phalen, Hidden Falls, Como, Battle Creek) as well as some small ones (Palace, Groveland, Desnoyer, Frost Lake, heck even Newell!). I can't decide if the "only in the city of Saint Paul" idea applies or not. Wouldn't it be harder to figure out if they didn't tell us directly (i.e. tougher duel?). What are your thoughts Ya Dig?

anyhow, i'm missing quite a bit here with regard to palace. we've got good luck -> the numerous horseshoe pits there, and view street, but i'm not seeing much of anything else that immediately links palace to the clues.

something else to noodle about: now that we've had so much emphasis on linking, hitting the golf course = hitting the links. thoughts?

we're not supposed to touch the real golf courses to keep the greenskeepers happy; those things have to be very well groomed. if any of you have ever played disc golf, the fairways are mowed, but no groundskeeper's gonna get brassed off if someone takes a divot out of the fairway. given that the pins for disc golf are generally collections of chain links...

Even if highland is "too obvious"...its so big it wouldn't matter...they could tell you outright in the first clue its at highland and it would still take 9 clues before someone found it...thats why it's a "tougher duel"

the clue maker wants a lot of people to look this year since it was found so fast that year. When everyone figures out the park there has to be enough room for all of us. In 99 at conway it was crazy, i'm not set in my ways of a big park but i just can't see it at a little park

1998's "Shovel Boy" 1999 & 2000's "ShovelMaster", & One crazy shovelin' mother in general!

No doubt that the news stations have screwed up before, thats why last year I contacted all of the local news stations via their news directors and told them that exact thing, that it isnt fair for those who work hard at this to just go out there and tell the world where it is at. I got response from channel 9 news director saying that she has told her crews to stay away from the medallion story because my letter was so compelling. By the way, the rest of the A$$hole news stations never so much as replied. So there ya go treasure hunters...Channel 9 News, your noodling heaven!

I heard it was an okay time, but it was hard to have a normal conversation with the cameras on you, very distracting.

If they try to do an anagram with the first letter from the first word for each line, Battle Creek, Highland and Como Park are feasible.
