Too much useless bickering!! People need to consolodate their thoughts!
I am somewhat concerned about the legality of having clue printouts and the like for validity. Can someone tell me who I can call to ask about this? Or can someone back up their statements? I don't need anyone's opinion on their interpretation, I need fact.

Last paragraph pertains to photocopies/handwriting etc.
great tagline, self.
no it doesnt but ford parkway runs into it
Thank you, original I know:)
that's what i thought.
I've seen the printed rules. Do the printouts qualify only for the drawing or for the entire shabang? It could be taken (and/or intended) both ways, and considering how many errors have already happened this year (ad infinatum, anybody? Where is that on the website's 1st clue??), I'm not ready to take any chances.
yes, it's a little late for this sort of noodling, but how about for "keep on your toes", the medallion is near a split in a combination bike/walking path, on the walking side?
does anyone know if divers use there toes to dive ?
like off a diving board
Matt, it is my understanding, that for the tickets you must print each clue separately as stated on twincities.com, but for the extra 2500, I think the PP will accept just about ANYTHING
lol I just wasted the last 10 minutes reading YOUR messages then I looked at the date... January 25...January 25th? but its only the 23rd. 2000 well thats not right....Pray that I find that medallion and a button at this point, I need all the help I can get as you should be able to tell by now.
Digger, I thought someone would have answered you by now, but if you are still there. . .Yes, divers stand on their toes.
TC - WOW!!! So did you finally find yourself thinking it was in Newell Park?
could the clue about your toes and june mean swiming pool at highland park does anyone know if the old pool had a diving board?
I dont' know to what "old" pool you are referring, but there is a separate diving pool at Highland. If that helps you any. Although I am not convinced it is at Highland or Como (which both have pools)
Matt - I was wondering the same thing regarding the exceptance of the on-line clues allowed to be admissible. I started making 500 printouts a day of the current clue. I'll be in Florida before this thing is over(sarcasm) But somebody could, and it sounds like it would be OK even if they come from a copy machine. I didn't see where it said one entry per person. I'm going to go back and check to be sure. Time to stock up on stamps
(MOM - feel free to delete if you feel this may start something)
Class ended early. See you down at the Pub.
What are you asking for your guide? Deal?
I still don'thave a good idea about todays clue...
Could circular thinking mean we should lookat clues from prior hunts..
I do like the idea of the bridgelink at highland, but I hope it is not there.. to far south
Guide - the video tapeing went well thanks for the tip, it took a long time though, which I guess is okay so I stop obsessing over todays clue
I'm just getting going tonight and am wondering about the latest clue. I saw the correction to the typo (I cannot believe that they really screwed that up by accident).
There's a little lake off of 61 in Phalen. Here are my thoughts:
Circular thinking - Round Lake
Linking - Between Keller and Phalen Golf courses
Bank account won't be shrinking - Prosperity St. or "Goodrich", as in Goodrich Park? Also across from Goodrich Golf Course
Ideas?
Gregor - good thoughts. Circular thinking could also mean a word game such as an anagram, or that the clues will not lead us to the park but the area around the park. or a circular object may be visible at or near the park but you can't see it from the treasure site
I like the Prosperity and Goodrich thing Gregor. Fresh take on things
Daddy
Brainstorm!!!! "Circular linking" could be frisbee golf!!
Is there such a thing anywhere in Ramsey County? This could be huge!
(edited so people didn't get the wrong impression) G - I play 'Disc' Golf at Highland all the time.
Including this Saturday @ noon for the big tourney
Highland has frisbee golf.
New daddy, Ford Parkway LINKS St. Paul to MPLS and Hidden Falls, out of View, is just South
Holy smokes!!!!
On my map, just to the east of Phalen -- Frisbie Avenue!!
Could this be? There's also a Ripley Ave. -- believe it or not!!
Where did everyone go? Running for your map books?
ok...been away from it for a day....WHAT WAS THE FIRST CLUE TODAY...AKA w/ the error ?!?! Thank you all for your help
PLC - Try post 12123 and then 12321 for recap
Sorry Gregor I was slogging through old clues.
Highland is so big where do you start....I have a meeting nearby tom night so I plan on diggen there.
Of course I may run out in the middle of the night after tonights clue but I doubt it.I think the clues will be very vague until after this weekend
How do you go to a specific number?? without sloging through all the numbers
Has anyone heard from E&H's Mom? I'm still searching for a button. Do you hit McGovern's every night at 7:30?
D
Hit the Outline button at the top. This gives you summaries. Then you can go to the number of the file by using the previousMsg or More buttons.
G, folks are going to McGoverns (sorry for the typo, can you tell I'm not feeling well!) tonight and tomorrow night (if we're not out digging) to take part in a documentary that's being made about us treasure hunters and the online community we've formed. There is also taping at the Como Conservatory tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure Green will post a reminder with all the info later again tonight.
My other half, Electric Duane is there right now. I couldn't make it tonight because I'm sick. I hope I'm feeling better tomorrow so I can join in on the fun.
Wolffpac, if you really like hidden falls you can "link" Mpls, and StP with power lines that have circular balls on them. Of course I have been there the previous 2 years and would prefer to think of it being DT. I thought my previous explanation (post 11495) was good too, but I am NOT ready to dig there yet!
Okay. So here is another one that fits the profile of Phalen. Hunt until June means summer. How 'bout Summer Avenue near Frost and Prosperity? There's a Wakefield Park right there....
I too have lots of things I like about Phalen. But I'm trying to remind myself to stop overinterpreting these early clues (which I do every year) because when the clue interpretations come out, each one is so darn simple (when I have many complex reasonings for each) that I just get frustrated!
TT,
McGregor's -- I like that! I think I'll name a burger chain after myself. Rest up for tomorrow, that's what I'm doing. Too much work lately.
Boy, I think I'm focusing too sharply on the early clues. Bank account might also be Barclay Street, in the same area as I've been mentioning. This could also be the place for gold, I suppose.
won't be at wakefield they trashed the last time it was there, said would make pp pay for damages wakefield is in maplewood
Do you think link (in reference to Hidden Falls) could be the path that connects it to Crosby Farm Regional Park?
Let me introduce myself. I'm the feared Night Digger. A family curse was place upon me about 25 years ago at Highland Park. My mother & her sister picked up and threw away the medallion. It had been burnt in a fire and was disfigured. It turned out they had the prize but mistoke it for a burned piece of rubbish. I was traumatized as a young lad and each year since I'm been searching between Midnight and Sunrise for the prize. I can not show my face in the light so I'm doomed to walk the parks each bitter cold night for the rest of my exsistance. (Evil Laugh Ha Ha Ha Ha)
Med Master,
Why is Maplewood out of the picture? I thought it could be anywhere in Ramsey county on public property?
Has anyone ever heard of Knuckle Head Lake of 36 and Hazelwood? Gotta love these map books...
Night Digger, that's a great near miss story! You have my sympathies! Welcome!
Hello all, sorry so late.
Hi Birdie! Welcome back!
Night Digger,
Now that's a near miss. Last year one of the kids in our group wanted to dig near the swing in Newell. We'll use her again this year with instincts like that. Welcome!
yes it can be in ramsey but when it was hid at wakefield, they, destroyed the place maplewood was pissed !!! i don't they would go there..thats why i think it's been so long for phalen cause partly in maplewood
Hello, well my mom just called me here at school flippin out because she thinks it might be Palace. She was flippin out because we live across the street from Palace. Has that idea been thrown around at all?
why yes, Birdie,it has. Who wants to share the reasoning for Palace?
Bird, your mom lost me. Where in the clues did she get palace?
Well view in clue #3 could be VIEW St. which runs next to Palace
Hello I am new to water cooler I am with whoever it was that said Wakefield it is possible you would be bold to look there also many other things fit I am going to drive by there see what fits
Palace = place for gold; also bordered by Palace Ave.; horseshoes = Good luck in first clue; bordered by view street = out of view; bordered by Jefferson street = reference to dual or all those battle type words (deploy, destroy, etc); has ice rink; bordered by fence = circular thinking and linking might be chain link fence; I'm sure there is more but that's what I get at face value.
Lelej,
Go for it! Let me know if you find anything. I'm generally on around 8 - 10, at least for a few minutes. I'm not excluding Wakefield due to bad blood with Maplewood.
Can you also check Gloster Park to the west? Frisbie runs right through it. Good Luck!
Gregor, Don't you think the suburbs have been eliminated this year by all of the references to the city? I know the rules say Ramsey county, but St. Paul was mentioned specifically.
Birdie this is Scotty are you coming in this weekend to look
Gregor yes I will I grew up near gloster I will let you know
wow, we have a busy webmaster tonight. They're just adding links to everything now up top- tshirts, previous clues. They really want to keep us here, looking at their advertising! I suppose in the end it's all about business and publicity and we're all just pawns. But it sure is fun!!!
Not sure Scotty, depends on if I have a definite park to look. Y?
Just glad someone noticed!!!
So what are the parks that everyone's stuck on at the moment
you name a park or rec ctr, someone's got a theory.
Just seeing what your plan of attack was.
Wakefield Park is out. I'm a former City of Maplewood parks worker and they will never have it there again. Ballfields where all torn up and some damage was done to the warming house. I left the city and took a night job (Evil Laugh Ha Ha Ha Ha). Digging at Night gives you an advantage of a one day head start. I was first on the scene at Cherikee Park 4 years ago and most years I am first on the scene. Been within 20 feet of the treasure 20 of the last 25 years. But digging at night you cant see as well and the chains of torment I drag around cut off the moonlight. So I will never find the treasure. I hope a Water Cooler member finds it this year.
Glad to see a couple of Hidden Falls ideas, I've been thinking of Crosby Farm (below the US Bank, Deploy your boat from Watergate, linked with Hidden Falls, and some other thing I can't remember right now). Whadyathink?
How many rec centers have had medallions hidden in them? can't be too many.
I, personally, am waiting until tonight's clue to find a favorite park/rec area to argue for. I can come up with tie ins for many large parks (Phalen, Hidden Falls, Como, Battle Creek) as well as some small ones (Palace, Groveland, Desnoyer, Frost Lake, heck even Newell!). I can't decide if the "only in the city of Saint Paul" idea applies or not. Wouldn't it be harder to figure out if they didn't tell us directly (i.e. tougher duel?). What are your thoughts Ya Dig?
sorry to bring it up for a third straight day, but i think we've found a second vampire in our midst. welcome night digger. :)
anyhow, i'm missing quite a bit here with regard to palace. we've got good luck -> the numerous horseshoe pits there, and view street, but i'm not seeing much of anything else that immediately links palace to the clues.
something else to noodle about: now that we've had so much emphasis on linking, hitting the golf course = hitting the links. thoughts?
When i first say circular i thought Round lake by phalen but that end of phalen is apart of maplewood, so I sort of turned on that idea.
someone tossed around the frisbee golf idea earlier (tying in circular item with linking) and I think that's got a lot of merit.
and that would be a "golf course" we could hunt on.
Hi..this is my 1st time here. Just checkin to see if my message gets on
welcome nildear!
In clue #2 it says golf courses and statues you must not annoy, now does that mean we shouldn't bother looking there or we should.
the highland disc course has been a big topic of discussion a while back.
we're not supposed to touch the real golf courses to keep the greenskeepers happy; those things have to be very well groomed. if any of you have ever played disc golf, the fairways are mowed, but no groundskeeper's gonna get brassed off if someone takes a divot out of the fairway. given that the pins for disc golf are generally collections of chain links...
I'm off to take a nap before the next big revelation by Ma' Press! Good luck noodling all!
Ares - I like your chain links take on the Disc golf baskets. 1st time I think that's been used
Anybody been down to McGovern's tonight? (or now)
I just got home from work, any of the McGovern's folks back yet?
PS. It is definately in a St. Paul park as stated in clue 1
Hey Hey...first time here this year and was hoping I could get some background, has anyone considered highland because it IS the 50th anniversary and highland was the original place of hiding?
Also, I think the golf course/statue remark doesn't have anything to do with it, just kind of a disclaimer that goes out every year. I myself wouldn't look to deep into it
thanks cm. i kinda like it too.
I'm heddin to McGovs now then the clue @ 11. I'll post it as soon as I get it.
ok
I don't think the 1st clue says "park"
You are right, I should not have said park, I should have said location. I am just trying to get people from bothering to go to Maplewood.
I agree lee although Phalen does sound pretty good
I'm new to area......is part of Phalen in St Paul and part in maplewood?
'night guys. i just snapped the 2x4s holding my eyelids open. gotta conserve energy.
could circular thinking mean its at the park that it was found in 1952 - highland?
hey all- just got back from a few places trying to match ANYTHING!
Woah--just got back from hockey, and most of the crew must still be at McGov's--very quiet, (insert comic cricket chirping noise here).
circular thinking means it is at Newell again, along with the duel (dual) reference, just a crazy thought
alan, alan, alan, broaden that circular thinking.
please alan, that would be putting us at newell for 3 years now for the first couple clues
what do you mean by that?
MAYBE ITS A BIGGER CIRCLE, LIKE BACK TO 1952.
Newell.. ad infinitum
Thats good to, but almost too easy.
they put us at newell in the start of 99, then it was at newell in 00 and you think that they are gonna put it back there this year
That would be bold would it not, it is just a thought anyway. I am not about to go spend the night there or anything like that.
You people are reading too much into the clues ITS ONLY THE 3RD CLUE!!!
That would be bold would it not, it is just a thought anyway. I am not about to go spend the night there or anything like that.
think newell is too small for it to be a "tougher duel".
its tougher if people rule it out right away. 1988 snake-all clues mean something
selma your so right
iOh do you really think so? I've never been right before!!! Thanks Dig.
Highland is much too obvious. People hunt there by default just for the sake of hunting. It might be a small obscure parcel of land tucked away in some corner of the city.
not to be disagreeable, but why is highland any more obvious than any other park at this point.
Lots of folks are thinking Hillcrest right now for a variety of reasons I am too tired to post. It is near Highland.
because a fair amount of people look at the first and second clue and always come up with highland or como
highland is big everybody knows it. it pops into everybodys head when thinking of St Paul parks
sooooo your point is??????
I am going to assume it is going to be a park that would take a small amount of thinking to get at.
Even if highland is "too obvious"...its so big it wouldn't matter...they could tell you outright in the first clue its at highland and it would still take 9 clues before someone found it...thats why it's a "tougher duel"
the clue maker wants a lot of people to look this year since it was found so fast that year. When everyone figures out the park there has to be enough room for all of us. In 99 at conway it was crazy, i'm not set in my ways of a big park but i just can't see it at a little park
So wouldn't that be Highland then or has too much blue hair dye seeped into my brain.
Even if highland is "too obvious"...its so big it wouldn't matter...they could tell you outright in the first clue its at highland and it would still take 9 clues before someone found it...thats why it's a "tougher duel"
Well that's exactly what I was getting at....
what that selma
That it's at Highland that's what I think
I was at Conway and it was fine, a little crowded, but fine. Tougher duel can mean harder park just as much as it can mean bigger park with more area.
Hi,
This next clue may give out a direction.
So Alan how can a little park be harder than a big park hmmmm???
WE dont NEED another clue WE are going to HIGHLAND!!!
Downtown - are you out there? Are you going to get a paper? I can email you my phone number if you want to call it in.
Are you making fun of ME?
There are many little parks all around the city that most people have never even heard of. That is a hard park.
alan u were there the night it was found at conway and u think that it was a little crowded
alan that's a great idea, but keep those little comments to yourself please
I was at Conway the night of the equal planes clue. It was crazy. It was something i will never forget the sounds of peoples choping could be heard a block away
What comments do I need to keep to myself
Okay, I'm back. Shouldn't the next clue be about ready? 11:00 PM CST?
Oops. Jumped the gun. I see the web says it's updated at midnight. Is that right? boy, I'm tired already....
What comments do I need to keep to myself
It was so much fun at Conway that year wasn't it?
I lived there for 4 or 5 days
Yes, 99 was the best hunt in recent memory...hope this year can live up to conway :-)
I lived there for 4 or 5 days
I need a new clue to noodle!
hey in the city, but they have not said a park??
I keep on posting things twice. what the flaming doo da is my problem
I don't know about Conway being the best year recently, I thought the clues kinda sucked and the whole idea that they'd use someone's address as part of a clue was lame. Now Chair-O-Key was a crazy little hunt.
Another year that was fun was when it was at Cherokee
someone should post it...it comes out at the pioneer press at 11...im sure it will be here by 11:15
I wonder how many folks will be out at Newell again this year???
I missed Cherokee
Oh Alan you should have been there. It was so crowded and it was close to my house that was the best part
yes, but in 99 it was fun how we got dragged around town....newell, highland, back to newell...then conway.....that makes for a fun hunt.
I thought the 99 clues were pretty staight foreward....thats how it should be every year...not like last years sucky clues....man
that's to bad alan
Cherokee was a very good year. Me and Steve had a blast
you consider the whole 4-5-9 clue straightforward???
newell was combed over pretty good also
selma, you will be in luck again this year...it will show its blue face at BATTLE this year...everyone watch and remember who said it!
I was at Harriet Island in 96, Como in 97, Conway in 99, and Newell last year
im about an hour from deploying there myself....
It's blue face and my blue hair....it's at Highland. That's my story and I'm sticking with it
Is that your final answer???
It's blue face and my blue hair....it's at Highland. That's my story and I'm sticking with it
Highland....nope....i am a few blocks from there.....the watertowers talked to me last night in my sleep....they said STAY AWAY FROM HERE!...lol
Good luck to you all
horton park?
That's my final answer...until I get more clues I mean
whot makes you think its at highland
Has anyone gone to check anywhere out to see if any clues matched?
Hey, I keep trying to think outside of this silly little box.
What about the State Fair Grounds? Why don't they put it there anymore? Is it not considered public land?
I think of Commonwealth (bank accounts), Cooper St (circular thinking), race track (more circles). Just a wild thought.
yes, battle....i have been there six times already...it is very close to some of the things
Selma...I gotta tell you, I'm with you at highland all the way..atleast until midnight :)
Because of circular thinking for one thing. It was there in 1952. Now 50 years later it's there again
I have two compelling arguments for june in Battle.....
I do believe the CAMO CRUE might have something to say about this little piece of translucent blue acyrlic being found. DON'T DESTROY- JUST SEARCH ! The CAMO CRUE is watching you !
and they are #27?
Hey DD are you getting the clue tonight???
June is the sixth month.....it was in battle "6" years ago, and the "6th" year of the hunt...also school gets out in JUNE...school on grounds of the st paul side....i know its alot to read into one word....but why is June in a clue...one of them might be right?
newell was combed over pretty good also
it's not at the fair this year because the fair isn't in st. paul
but why is June in a clue
...cause it rhymes with soon.
Because June rhymes with soon
that is obvious....but WHY did the use june....why not some other word that flowed with the clue and winter?
SPECULATION SUCKS ! TRUTH RULES ! And the truth shall set CAMO CRUE free with treasure bounty !
newell was combed over pretty good also
SPECULATION SUCKS ! TRUTH RULES ! And the truth shall set CAMO CRUE free with treasure bounty !
did anyone think that june is the first month of summer so maybe there is some refference to summer out there the name of a street or something
Camo Crue "can you dig it"
I just hope when some parks get hot, the television stations don't go broadcasting it out!!! That is frustrating for hard core hunters.
yeah if you go digging at Newell, you won't find anything even come summer and all the snow has melted.
Who's getting the clue??/
JOE!
I had a thought on the whole circular and bank thing. Could that be referring to a bank drive through canister, that maybe it is hidden inside of?
someone noodled a few clues ago about the med being on the fairgrounds. That's a good one and the streets sound good too, except that the fairgrounds are in Falcon Heights proper and not St. Paul.
Oh well :-)
ALL THE NEGATIVITY IN THIS TOWN SUCKS ! HI-LEX GNOMES RULE !
WHERE IS DA CLUE
No doubt that the news stations have screwed up before, thats why last year I contacted all of the local news stations via their news directors and told them that exact thing, that it isnt fair for those who work hard at this to just go out there and tell the world where it is at. I got response from channel 9 news director saying that she has told her crews to stay away from the medallion story because my letter was so compelling. By the way, the rest of the A$$hole news stations never so much as replied. So there ya go treasure hunters...Channel 9 News, your noodling heaven!

got the double vision going there.
It's lying in the snow Shoveler!!
Hey SM, Steph is headin over to the PP to get the paper, since no one else is posting it I'll call ya when we gt it.
GOPHER BAR ! Thats it, its buried inside a frozen coney island from George !
Shovelmaster...I'll believe it when I see it, when channel 9 has nothing better to report on in their 1 HOUR newscast...they will run for the medallion hunt.
THE CLUE IS OUT !
well what is it!!
someone post it PLZ!
patience, Teddy, is a virtue!
I guess everyone is having too much fun at McGovs...
Yeah, please!!!!!!! (Whine,Whine)
Hey Tiny - How're you feeling?
Just back from McGovern's with a stop by the paper....
they weren't out still at 10 after and the kids were restless, so here we are.
teddy what does worm think
Does anyone have clue number 4 yet???
Patience?!!?!? We're talking about THE CLUE!
it's not out on twincities.com
There is a JUNiper street somewhere in Highland.
Have I missed something? Are the OCC people out hunting or what?
I heard it was an okay time, but it was hard to have a normal conversation with the cameras on you, very distracting.
That's right! The camera crew was in town tonight, nevermind.
Too bad McGovern's doesn't have online access...
I missed it, I was at work, hope you guys had fun
even though ma press says she's selling papers at 11, she has not been doing it until 11:30pm at the earliest for the last few nights. how annoying!
Snake: talked to worm a little while ago...he also is with me on the highland idea...I'll keep you updated though...Worm says he has a something up his sleeve :)
It was fun! Great to catch up with the crew face to face. Dad saw Downtown Dave at the paper - he said he'd be posting from home as soon as he got back.
Wait... Worms don't have arms. What's this about a sleeve? ...suspicious
I'm still feeling quite yucky Mom, thanks for asking though. You know it's bad when I went home sick from work at noon and didn't even check the cooler until like 7pm. Not wanting to noodle, that's sick!
Even more suspicious, human...how do they dig?
I told you the CAMO CRUE was right on it !
power, what are you talking about?
worms dig like me ya dig
HI all this is new member barbie827 Ive been on a few times but since im a rookie this is all new to me
I have checked around a few times at capital mall and battle with not much found
If they try to do an anagram with the first letter from the first word for each line, Battle Creek, Highland and Como Park are feasible.
it's hard to dig this early barbie, but scoping out the parks early is always a good idea.
Just watch- this next clue is going to point us to Palace
hello barbie thats because its not at those places
how cute Ken & Barbie
hello barbie thats because its not at those places
E & H's Mom! Nice to have you on. Still want to meet you and get a button from you. Are you going to McG's tomorrow night? Or how else can I get one?
FINALLY!!! I can post a message. I had to re-register TOO many times. Anyways, after a two-year absence I am back!!! Watch out! This is MY year. I ain't comin' all the way from NJ to dig for nothin'... I'm going for the gold! Now, who's buying me a beer at McGov's when I get into town tomorrow night?
does anyone have the new clue.?
Leah Ive read that youve said the palace a few times today Im still un sure where that is. Im planning to buy that tresure hunters guide tommorrow possible look at como
