Hiyall!

I've got 2 out of 3 kids asleep, and the one awake one is being content to lie on the couch and watch cartoons.

I'm gonna have to shut the cooler down and log into work for a little bit. I had a couple thoughts about circular....one is how about disc golf? Course that's at Highland and it was just at Highland a few years back. There's a veterans's monument there as well. Hmmm.

The other thought I had was perhaps a name of a street that is Palindromic (is that a word?) - like our palindrome Joe's or my H-A-N-N-A-H. Spelled the same forwards and backwards - not entirely *circular* but kind of on the same lines.

I must go. Back in a bit.

Hey, do we have to have the clues from the paper from the FIRST day each clue was published (so that you to clip out the clues each day)? Hopefully tonight's clue will give us a good direction to go in, but I don't think they've really told us much. I do have a feeling though that the Medallion may be on top of something, out of sight. I also wonder if maybe this year they went back to using the old Medallion? If it was on top of something, a metal detector would not help you.

Hunt #3 for this non-MN Native!

The more I'm thinking about this...Hidden Falls makes a lot of sense:

Clue #1 and #2 are your general blanket info but with "duel" and "deploy" both bring to mind military thoughts (Ft. Snelling is right next door), and it tells us it will be harder this year, so probably a big park for maximum clue/hiding potential.

Clue #3- "If you can figure out THIS clue"-seems to me that if you can figure it out the park is in #3 even thought it is early. Circular could mean a lot, but it could just mean a park where it'd been before. The tresure is lying someplace "out of view" which could mean Hidden Falls Park.

Now I know that seems like an easy interpretation (and it is) but with clue #1 making sure everyone expects the non-obvious it would lead to lot's of people just throwing out such an "easy" guess...which looking at the posts here is exactly what people are doing...

Anyway that's what I'm thinking for the moment...of course it is very early, but that's where I'm at with it...

In all honesty, I doubt the clue writer just suddenly became smarter this year. I'm thinking by a tougher duel, they simply mean they're going to give more vague information and hold off anything specific longer and later. So I don't think the circle we're looking for is anything we can determine right now specifically any more than we could tell exactly which tower they meant after clue 3 last year. But I also think if they're going to do something like that, it favors a small park since a big one would require more specific clues much earlier. And since they haven't said it was in a park yet, I'm leaning towards rec centers as I don't want to really believe they would place it in a random spot like a street corner.

Beth Rutherford - 02:30pm Jan 23, 2001 CST (#12656 of 28288) Mark Reply

I agree with the Hidden falls idea. It's simple but makes sense to me! I was thinking about the Capital mall before. It's still early yet.

circular thinking- one clue leads to/proves the next clue, which in turn leads to/proves the next, which in turn leads to/proves the next, and so on until the last clue leads you back to/proves the first. So it follows- if you get one wrong, the rest will be wrong too. Thats the jist of what circular thinking is from my understanding, or how it works.

Hey all. the Linking-thinking debate has been resolved. This is on the pp website.

Clue No. 3: We will be updating the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt clues at midnight each day.

Circular thinking can be one way of * linking To the treasure that lies out of view. Your bank account won't be shrinking If you can figure out this clue.

  • The final word in the first line of Clue No. 3 was incorrect in Wednesday's Pioneer Press. "Linking" is correct.
