Step, I understand that, it's pretty verbose this year. Holy bananas about clue #1, was that really long, or is it just me.
Who's this "Cluemaster"?
Do they know something we don't?
Maybe I missed something in all the posts I skipped?
i'm with you Tim, i also like Harriet, Battle, Swede
I think this year we may have a decent Doofy Clue Writer(s). It wouldn't be the first (nor will it prolly be the last) time Mom Press has lurked here and taken our ideas very much to heart. She's not called "Mom" fur nuttin'.
Not like we're pros or anything, but we *are* the only known group nation - if not world - wide that is like this. Not only in hunting, but in friendship.
I wouldn't be the very least bit surprised if I found out Mom Press told whomever, "You idiot! You BLEW IT! You're out in 2001 and we're getting somebuddy else!"
full house JOE
ClueMaster is correct, I believe the fairgrounds are actually private property
rushmore...it was unusually long
I missed bad
Green, That is what I am thinking.
Going to bed... have all day tomorrow to ponder this clue. Goodnite everyone!
nite jake.
wes talk to marrow?
I'm thinking they put in a clue that doesn't mean a thing just so they string this thing out, but to let us know the rules about the greens & statues.
I should probably go too, good night everyone.
Remember - Cooler heads will prevail!!
this cat going to sleep to......goodnight all !! until tomorrow
didnt they do that one other year? made the ussual clue 1 into two clues.
Goodnight to all, see you at the mall
Well, I'd say I'm not going to waste my time at The Great Minnesota Get-Together in January.
I've wondered, too, who this ClueMaster izz. Seems awful nice, caring, and REALLY SMART! Kind'a reminds me o'two folks I know... To a degree! :D
Anyone have an anagram on "GOODLUCK"?
My map also shows that if you're heading south on Snelling, as Terry was, Hoyt is the St. Paul border for the area to your left. But to your right, it extends all the way to Como Ave, encompassing the entirety of the Fairgrounds. Since Clue #1 says it is in St. Paul, it can not be at the Fairgrounds. So back to the Capitol mall I say.
ummmmmm, allison, should'nt we go out and hide it now? the people are getting restless.
"Anyone have an anagram on "GOODLUCK"? "
DUCK LOGO
DOC LUG OK
COD LUG OK
CUD LOG OK
CLOG KUDO
LOCK DOUG
LUCK GOOD
LUCK DO GO
The Capitol Mall it is....from the very 1st clue...
Good Luck anagrams to Duck logo, though I can't think of any relevant duck logos offhand.
I can't seem to find a search engine for Cooler listings this year. Am I missing something?
annette...how do you figure? it doesn't say anything.
Nite, All Cool'Heads!
Know what else I think? *I* think this year ittiz a WOMAN writing the clues!
Yup. I do!
I think......................I think...................um..............I think it is..............I think it is hidden...................I think it is hidden under the snow!!!!!!!!!!!! thats it, lets all go dig right now
"I can't seem to find a search engine for Cooler listings this year. Am I missing something?"
What do you mean "Cooler listings"?
Well, lets see - duel - plenty of war stuff there, and the gold horsemen on top of the capitol bldg. And of course those dueling democrats & republicans. That's where I am coming from.
Time for bed. Goodnight all. It's been fun.
:-)
nitey nite.
duck logo? could reference Mighty Duck's = hocky
Clue'M, nope... Don't know of any. Actually, I don't even know what you're talking about. You might ask our Web Master, or Allison, or DDY, or somebuddy that knows more about 'putters. I can't help you.
Yeah. I'd LOVE to know how these folks think Capital Mall when there's lots o'military stuff elsewhere, too.
As you deploy from the first line in clue 2, results in these two anagrams easy duopoly or a duopoly yes.
Websters defines duopoly as - An economic or political condition in which power is concentrated in two persons or groups.
Interesting, power at the capital is largely concentrated in two groups. Also, there is the dual reference in the first clue.
think it simply means a duel between us and the pioneer press because they said last years game ended much too soon.
that's not bad stepp
Mainly I'm thinking the capitol mall because its not a park, and it does have a lot of statues around that people may be tempted to "annoy" while looking there.
Leelabell, ittiz actually "duel" in the clue... Tho those two fractions do duke it out, don't they?
oops, yes, I spelled it wrong. And they do duke it out.
TX/green - We used to be able to type in one persons handle in a search engine for this Water Cooler site and it would pull up all of their listings. It was pretty helpful in the annoying days of Joe Medallion. We could view only those who we thought were helpful. There was a link right on the front page of the Cooler site.
Beyond that I have no new ideas right now so I should head to bed too.
ditto...have a good night all.
Ah, the wonders of being able to arrange as much time off as you need... I'll definitely be using this luxury to my advantage this year!
... but not so soon! I wouldn't ever think of putting on my warm clothes for at least another couple days. I respect the eagerness of the hunters of today, but I assure those who listen that something foul would be up if it were found within the next three days, especially after last year's craziness. Use this time wisely to restore your history, geography, poli sci, basket weaving, and all other skills that apply to the year's hunt. *sharpens brain*
Right now I can't even begin to fathom even a gut feeling.
Clue 1 - My current key words: bold, infinitum, cruel, duel, toes. - thoughts: Nah.. Nothing beyond the obvious, yet.
Clue 2 - key words: deploy, statues - thoughts: realistically, no.
I like the "duck logo" postulation... Although I must stress the probable protest from the city to the press about putting anything on the capitol grounds, at least within the last five years. I've picked through almost entirely negative thought from both the authorities and the Press when asking about the grounds... Just too political for the people to be muddling on the buildingfront, I suppose. Anyone decide on a distinguishing feature for Cooler Crew folk? Bandanas? Towels? Towelettes?
-Matt
NOTE: The spellchecker is horrible. Any flaws in the text were ADDED when I used the utility. *hollers to the admins* I hate malfunctioning scripts.
They've eliminated a lot of features from this. There were some rumors that the searches were responsible for all the times the program went down, so they may have eliminated that too.
Personally, I think this medallino will be found in record time - the PP is a bit dissapointed about last year, but don't you think that makes us more determined than ever? Anyway, it would be nice and close for me if it was at the CM.
Stepp, SHEESH! We're not dueling with anybuddy! Unless ittiz our own minds - gods knows I am!
Well, you know... Ittiz not like St. Paul's got one o'those banks... What are they called? St. Louis has one...
And WHERE else is there gold in the city? Any udder buildings? Tho maybe the stone is gold coloured?
"Keep on your toes" REALLY bugs me every time I read that clue! It just doesn't fit with the feeling, flow o'the clue. I think it was needed. Or She wrote Clue One last and was very tired o'noodling! :D
My brain is going to explode and it only the second clue
keep on your toes I thought could refer to tennis or basketball or something like that.
I guess Ill get up early to dig at capital
toes to ice skating too
WOW, ClueM'! I NEVER knew that!
Yeah. Me and Eags... And Terry and Ian, too? Did a test. Boy! Did doing a search ever kill trying to slog! You could NOT move! You'd be stuck until whomever was done going thru THOUSANDS o'posts looking for whatever they were looking for.
Welcome to both you and Matt. Nice to have you both aboard. Please introduce yourselves when out Digging.
Thanks Wonderland. You're probably right. I would prefer faster refreshes if it means no search engines.
I also agree Matt. Spell check isn't the greatest. It is a nice feature when it works though since I can't spel veri goode.
'Nite, Allison! See you tomm... ah, later today!
About this WebX tool, I'm guessing that someone who runs this ordeal is related to the fifteen year-old who must have coded the technology for this forum and is doing them a favor... <-- Sarcasm, I know full well this is a somewhat larger script than that.
I just don't understand when a metropolis newspaper like the Press can't seem to get the idea of buying a license for UBB, EZboard, or heck, I know of 10 or 20 other TOTALLY free 'net BBS setups under the GPL that they could use... all of which could wipe their rears with the horrible problems WebX has brought about the population.
there is a statue at capital mall of leif erickson, the viking who discovered america. This really fit last years clues for awhile: viking depression and astute= statue so I spent ... no wasted much time there and let me tell you the security people did not like it a bit and tried to shoe me away. I guess they thought I might be tunneling in to the building
way too many posts to read all of, as of the duck logo anagram, reference to COMO maybe for some shooting of might ducks, but right now i like battlecreek and capitol mall
Matt, do be the dear I know you to be and drop it right now. This place is near and dear to many, many people - WARTS AND ALL. So, take it to Mom Press in a personal letter, otay?
Diggin' talk here.
Joe! And Joe!
So, here we go again. All of you trying to help me find my medallion againg this year. Well,I won't go out on any limb yet. These clues don't really narrow down until later on. I'd be willing to bet they put it in Pig's Eye park this year . . .
STAL!!!!!
pigs eye park, ewwww, how does one even get their other than by horseback,(while lowered from a helicopter)
Nice full mouse, Annette!
Oh! You wiped out such a nice Joe! All those 1's and 2's!!! :(
I love to dig dig dig
Let me tell you a few things about getting to Pig's Eye . . .
$50 to the first person to actually get to Pig's Eye by car. Be a good place to hide it though, esp. since this is the 50th anniversery of the Medallion Hunt in a City originally name Pig's Eye . . .
Hi, Birdie!
(sitting and waiting... For insights from Stal.)
green - done. :) I just have to get my yearly complaint in. I apologize for the offense.
Time for sleep, I believe... I will definately be on the drive tomorrow night after the next clue hits the world for some prospecting... maybe more! So I'll chitchat with everyone throughout the day tomorrow. Cheers!
SCDs, Matt! Post you later 2day!
JOE!!!!!!!!!
That's abouat as much insight as I can muster tonight Green. You know me, I don't put much stock in these first few clues. They are more helpfull when you have three or four others to define them against.
do you think duel - could mean dual - as in Upper and Lower Afton?
Very, very nice full mouse, Stal!
Yeah. And I put too ding-dang much (sigh). I just hate this Hunt because I love it so much.
I love that my header from two years ago still shows up when I log on this year . . .
Annette, I was thinking that earlier today... But I don't know if I can get too much more to go with it.
Tho, you've got dual "duals": Upper and Lower and "Battle" Creek...
But I can't think of a single statue there... Spent MANY an hour in BC in my very firstest Hunt!!! LOL!!!
Does the pioneer press consider west and south st. paul fair game?? Or would they be seperate entities?
What do you mean "full mouse"?
Suppose I ought to get some zzzzzzzzzz's. Nite
Unfortunately battle creek is in maplewood!!!
They're seperate "cities" actually. St. Paul = St. Paul.
night all, math comes pretty early in the morning.
Auggie, the vast majority o'Battle Creek is in the Battle Creek are o'St. Paul.
Only a very small portion o'BC is in Maplewood.
the battle creeks are seperated its a different battle creek in maplewood phaelen is the park where its in both cities, so its all good. i really like the idea bout upper and lower afton, AUGGIE, U go to Augsburg too?
I remember going through the "Battle Creek" battle a year or two ago. It shows up on some maps as Maplewood, but it IS in St. Paul, more importantly Ramsey County. Actually I think PART of battle creek is in maplewood and the other part is in St. Paul . . .
Medallion has been hidden there THREE times
Stal, instead o'full house... "Full mouse" as in one uses a mouse on a 'putter...
Auggie - I'm pretty sure that they go as far as Ramsey county but that's all. I believe that Annapolis is the south boarder
wait, never mind, part of the battlecreeks do connect, my bad
nope, don't go to augs!!
There's a teeny-tiny portion to the east, basically a pic-a-nic kind'a place with a pond and play ground that's in Maplewood.
The division (shudder... Hard clue that year!) is McKnight Road. East Maplewood; West is St. Paul.
ok, well night all
'Nite, WW!!!! WAY COOLER SCDs!!!
actually i gots the map right here, its a big big park in maplewood, but still smaller than ALL of battlecreek in saint paul
Well then , if battle is in St. Paul then that's where the clues lead me so far.
Actually Green in my case it would be a trackpad . . .
green - SCD's?
Nice full trackpad, Stal!
"Sweet Cooler Dreams," ClueM'. From way, way, bock. I think '98, but could be '99.
Seeing as how I gotta 15 day work week ahead of me and most of my freetime will be spent trying to dig up that medallion of mine, I better get my sleep while I can. . .
Nite every one! See ya out diggin' . . .
And Green, your trackpads' not so bad either . .
Thanks green - I now remember something like that in the past.
'Nite, Stal! SCDs!!! Let me know if you wanna go Dig.
green - Lived in the cities all my life. Been addictively searching since Como in '80. Have all the stuff needed for the hunt. Looks like I'll be joining you in the movie this year. Blabbed with Trent earlier tonight on set ups. Look forward to meeting with you all.
BG, IG???
HOWDY-DO!!! Nice to have you aboard - I know. I said that already. Has he talked to you about McGovern's this Tues nite?
JOE!!!
Actually....
Tues is TOMORROW NITE!!!!!
Well, I do hate to leave the greatest o'company... But Ian should be along... MayBee Ittiz, Bee and Greg...
Coffee's hot and ready, and the light's left on.
Hope everybuddy remembered to say their prays before toddling off...
Nite, Clue! SCDs and talk to you later!
Take care green. SCD's to you as well. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I typed a long message and spell check kicked me out for some reason. Later. I guess I'm the last one up again.
Hello Kitty I got this thing Figured out call me.
Bob if your still up reading don't forget that there is a pot of "gold" for the salvation army at the kellog mall.
that's True I see you figured out how to post.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
M-O-R-N-I-N-G!!!!
I slept hard on the first two clues, and I still am not decided it's in a "park". Capital Mall seems quite likeable due to the use of "deploy" and "statues"...goodness knows there are war monuments down there.
Although, it does mention golf courses and statues. So either the place that it is should have BOTH nearby and we're to leave alone, or neither is nearby.
My first instinct this year was Phalen, but I haven't been able to point the clues there yet. I think the best guess I have for a park is Battle Creek, just cause of all the war/battle references.
It's gonna drive me *BANANAS* to have to be away from the putter for 10 hours or whenever till I get home! There'll be some power-slogging tonite!
Have a great day, all! Catch ya later this evening....
Oh! Green - would you try to get a handle on what TIME the thing is tomorrow night? I'm hoping maybe Dad and I can go in shifts, rather than carting all the kids over to a grandparent's house. Though, if we did that later in the evening the kids would be close to asleep....I don't know! Just let us know what the plans are, okay?
Marning. Uh-huh, Mom.
I am tired, I want to go bock to sleep, I don't wanna go to work, and I HATE this Hunt.
Mom, there are neither statutes or a golf course at Battle Creek. Capital Mall has one, but not the other. Maybe *this* is the year we'll find out if golf course is just always thrown in and we're reminded to keep off.
Not-yet-awake-rambings...
Highland has two (duel=two) golf courses. Snoopy. Veterans memorial. And The Boys in Blue.
Good Morning!
Inks read today's clue this morning and immediately said Capital Mall looks good. At least we're seeing the same things. Time will tell though. Ittiz early yet and the possibilities are many.
Don't forget to be printing out or clipping the clues.
One thing I noticed today - the first letters of the clue lines are bolded again. Sunday it spellled out GOOD LUCK. Today it spells out TFGA.
See yaz tonight for some power slogging. Have a way cooler day!
ok. some people here get up way too early (mom). i can't even type straight yet, and i'm having trouble opening my can of coke, too.
much better. i'm starting to wake up now. anyhow, after looking over the first 2 clues, i'm still hung up on being bold. when it was at conway, we had the iconoclast hint, which was clearly explained as indicating to do something different (i.e., a virgin park), and i'm willing to bet we're gonna see something similar here.
Marning, Ares! Ter, too - her cup runneth over with Coke and not coffee.
Hhhuuummmm... Maybe we can get you two spots on Coke commercials! :D
I'm with you on the "bold." Think sumpin' a bit different this year.
well, it's actually diet coke. for the amount i consume in the course of a day, i'd weigh a lot more than i do, which is already more than i should.
hmm. a spot in a commercial. with the polar bears, during a hunt. i like it.
Got to go get some work done, but if it matters, the other five guys waiting for a paper last night made pretty convincing argument for Pig's Eye, basically:
It would be like finding needle in haystack--thus much tougher 50th anniversary--named after town founder It has never been there River would open in June, allowing us in.
Bye!
TGFA=Too Good For Ares.:)
Although I don't quite understand this obsession to go out in the cold and dig in the snow. I'm hooked on trying to figure the clues out! -THX1138
Yeah right, who wants to bet he's gonna be the one pullin me outta bed at 3:00am cuz he's got it all figured out!!:)
I had really weird dreams last night. Somethin to do with ducks, ballerinas, pirates and vampires............You people need to stop this,I think this is a covert government operation to brainwash me.
Mornin'!!! Pig's Eye, ey, Matie??? Hmmmm......reminds me of pirates....and gold....
Vampires!! Love 'em!!! And with all the caves along the river....(goosebumps and shivers up my neck)...watched From Dusk Til Dawn Saturday night....
Northern L.,is that what they call the new Harriet Island?
Did someone call me?
Why,YEEEEEEESSSSS MASTER!
Still thinking the bold letters may mean something, but not sure what sort of puzzle it is.
G-O-O-D-L-U-C-K-T-F-G-A
Well, we can arrange some of those letters to spell some, um, interesting words but I doubt that's what they were going for.
thanx scribe :)
TFGA........isn't that some sort of pig they do genetic reasearch on?
Yes it is! They reasearch a cure for blindness!!! PIGS EYE!
Will someone tell me where the heck "Pig's Eye" is?
Vampires? Here? :> *snicker*
They wouldn't give us that many direct clues already, would they??? It'd be cool if it were at Pig's Eye....but I don't think they'd have it at Harriette with all the new renovations they've done in the last year, do you???
I know there's a Pig's Eye island.....isn't there???? Or where was the original "cave"?
Mornin' Allison...sorry I didn't get to say hello Saturday night!
And don't give me a smart aleck "St.Paul" answer either!
Who? Me, Scribe???
Any of you! Your all trying to brainwash me aren't you????
I've never been sure "exactly" where Pig's Eye is...I think I've heard of a Pig's Eye Landing somewhere. I think he lived in a cave somewhere. Anyone know?
bbiab...
I thought Pig's Eye was a reference to a degeneration of the riverfront in St.Paul during the turn of the century. You know lots of sinning goin on down there.
Ok, I've got it. The Medallion is somewhere on the body of Jesse the Body.
Allison you're just bein silly.
or are you?
Thats it then,we all go attack the guv with shovels!
I can't claim to have ever been there (can anyone?) but I believe Pig's Eye Park is to the south of Battle Creek, along the river. I would seriously doubt though that they would put it there.
You mean you didn't put it there!
That took me a whle ...sheeeesh I miss HTML!
JOE,JOE,JOE!!!
just be careful to make sure jesse doesn't read that, allison, he might sue you to protect his trademarked image :)
how'd you do that, scribe?
That'd be a hoot...the entire Crew showing up on the front lawn of the Governor's mansion demanding he come out so we could do a strip search....that's another way for the Crew to get famous...
Well you know, if you're going to get the medallion away from Jesse, you're going to have to be pretty bold. After all, he may want the $10,000 for himself.
Ares, you just put a small "b+ space" before the line you want to post. Or you can do itallics by using a "i + space" before each line.
Like this-
i(space)Get it?
Get IT?
i've got that figured out, scribe. it haunts me and my lower case typing all the time. how'd you get the break in the middle?
Yeah but the tax goes down a 1/2 percent and he won't take it all till you die.:)
Hey, I wonder if this works?
Enter key Ares>:)
Stop showin off Allison!
that's right, it takes 2 enter keys to replace a <p>.
Isn't there a Pig's Eye brewery down along the river??? (or WASN'T there?)
I might and then again I might not
Northern L.,we are gonna get in trouble if we start entertaining that idea! Some people take us pretty seriously here!
Course we'll tell em it was all Allison's idea!:)
Which idea? The beer or the Gov?
466358258342
If you took all the bold letters, and applied them to a keypad, that is what you would get. I don't see these numbers as having any significance though.
TGFA=AFGA
It's in Afghanastan.
The GUV!!! N.L.!!
anyone here know anyone on the gov's security detail? :) we'll get 'em a few beers, and hunt down that medallion.
Or AGFA....the film.
What are talkin about Ares!
I am the Guv's detail!
Yeah,yeah thats it.........:)
Agfa the film? I'm not followin you Northern L.
Hmmmmmm, not seeing a pattern here either.
TGFA = The Great Fair Area as in near the fairgrounds?
NAH! Dozer! It's in Afgahn Park!
Its actually TFGA, though T he F air G round A rea would make more sense anyway, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Allison, don't you think it weird that 7 and 15 appear twice? And eleven thats two ones.
What do you make of it?
>T he F air G round A rea
If the next clues stanzas begin with a H, A, R, and R then I'd start thinking this way, for now I still like Capital Mall, but tonight we go cruising for clues.
Hmmm, maybe its because they used the same letter twice?
7+7=14+15+15=44+1+1=46
or
7+7=14+15+15=44+11=55
Hwy 55.
Thank you,thank you!
Sorry Scribe, I just can't drive 55.
Steer clear of all private ground. Could this mean don't dig near the burial mounds in Mounds Park?
Saves lives,Allison,saves lives!LOLOLOL!
Poker Joe!
he Scribe nice full boat joe.
I guess it's not too early to over analyze the 1st two clues :)
Thanks Shoveler! With my eyes closed even!
Dozer, also could mean don't be diggin up people's yards!
I still think the words "secret item" from the first clue implies that there is some sort of secret word play of some kind in the clue or clues.
The Mounds are not actually private property, so no, I don't think it would mean that.
Dozer, also could mean don't be diggin up people's yards!
Good thing I don't have a yard.
Come over analyze with us Diggorious!!!!!
Wanna hear my pirate ballerina in the frog pond theory?
Although its not impossible, its hard to believe that the 2nd clue tells us nothing at all, unless its trying to tell us by what it doesn't tell us. Certainly in two clues and three stanzas of rule elaborations, hey could have fit in the word park.
Ah very good point my Wonderlanded fellow!
I need to go back and re-read the clues.....
Oy me gosh matey's,it be ten bells!
Ey'll be seein ye all in a wee bit!
"Yeah right, who wants to bet he's gonna be the one pullin me outta bed at 3:00am cuz he's got it all figured out!!:)"
Nope, not me. I'm gonna be dreaming of sheep at 3:00AM!
Yeah right,blah,blah,blah!:)
Who was it last night yakkin about parks and clues?
Morning all! Just finished the morning slog and thought I'd chime with my thoughts:
I think that going "non-park" just because we haven't seen park yet in a clue would be a big jump. It just seems to me that in today's over-crowded city, for it not to be in a park doesn't make a whole lot of sense, plus there is precident for park not being mentioned and being the hiding place.
But for being "bold" and thinking battle or military from both clues (duel and deploy), why not Fort Snelling. It's not in the guide so perhaps the writer would find that a bonus in making it harder for folks. It has a golf course for sure and I'm guessing statues. The only drawback I'm thinking is if it's a State Park is admission charged to get in and it's probably tighter on night hours than a city one. Since I haven't been there anyone have any thoughts on those two points?
That would certainly be a "bold" move to a new park, a state park and a park not in the guide! But it's so early, I doubt it could be that specific so soon...historically only 1 of the 1st five has park specfic info...
Any thoughts?
hi everyone ....I'm back noodling again this year....How about the treasur being hidden in a ballernia slipper???????
There's something about the Latin that's got me going....that and the "duel" reference....2 forever....fighting forever...challenging forever....maybe I'm WAY off base.
Then there's the "deploy" reference....anything near Fort Snelling?
Terry, I now know how to answer my phone! You can call me bock!
Marnin', Allison, Northern and Scribe!
Ares, I got to thinking on the way to work...
"Bold" could have just been used as it rhymes with "gold" and from which one gets, or can/could get, The Capital Mall theory.
BUT... If "bold" izz the important word, and NOT "gold" (gold just being used because it rhymes with "bold", and also because "gold" could be a really good red herring...) then The Capital Mall theory would lose a major pointer.
I can't see "gold" being imnportant in the clues twice for the same place...
Mornin' Green! I'm on this Pig's Eye/Fort Snelling thing.....don't know why (just a Monday Morning Tangent I guess).
"Who was it last night yakkin about parks and clues?"
I don't know who the heck that was!
Just answered half of my question...as a state park there is a daily permit purchase required for cars, so now I'm thinking no for sure, but maybe a city/county near there...
Hay, Narthern!
Ft. Snelling izz a State Park. I doubt it will be there. Pig's Eye... Shades o'me in '98! I was scared to death Greg was gonna find me and choke the living life outta me! LOL!!!
"From Annoying Tangents Come Mighty Meds." (The gospel according to green)
Can only be in Ramsey county Bax,and they usually would mention county in the first coupla clues. They did mention St.Paul and town, thats a pretty good indicator where the spot is.
Fort Snelling isn't part of St. Paul is it?
Personally I do think there is something to the use of the word "bold". Either its like the iconoclast clue saying its going to be somewhere new and/or unexpected (which is mainly what I think) or possibly that you need to use the bold letters to decipher the secret item.
THX! If that wasn't you, either I'm in big trouble or I'm hearing funny voices again!:)
Ittiz definitely in The City. And that's about all I can get for positive from The Clues.
But, even that's a biggie for this totally clueless one!
Careful of mixing up past years clues, Allison! Iconoclast was two years ago!!!
morning to all, Allison, saw your cooler crew picture, in that picture you look like Al Pacino in Carlito's Way..........that's a compliment. By the way, have you ever seen the movie ? , if not you should see if you can rent it, it's an awesome movie.
Actually the state park is in both St. Paul and Ramsey County...at least on my maps...but the charge to get in kind of eliminates it in my mind...
I don't think I did see it, though I remember that movie. And Scribe, I'm afraid iconoclast was two years ago at Conway, referring to the fact it had not been hidden there before. Last year's word was rapscallion.
Your right of course Allison! I stand corrected! And thats what I said, yeah, yeah thats it...... I don't want to hear any hunt jeaprody jokes! NOT ONE!
What about a park along the river where you can see Fort Snelling? I'm thinking somewhere down by Watergate....I suppose Hidden Falls is too far up-stream.
Ya know, they haave to tell everyone again aand agaain, to stay out of golf course and off of private property. So the main part of the clue is, wonderful aand steer, and clear, that's all i see.
Hey all, Large park in St. Paul, thats all we know for now.
Maybe not so large Duff........
Either that or they won't divulge the Park until next Monday or so.
My ealry bet is Como.
Theres been some speculation concerning the "bold" letters at the start of each line. The letters are not bold for todays clue in my newspaper. Therefore, I see no logical reasoning to the theory. Please educate me.....
Best regards,
Minnesota Fats
They were bold in yesterdays newspaper, and they are bold on the website. I've not yet seen today's actual paper.
that word aannoy really annoys me ? also can anyone confirm the 1st clue, is the word ad in it ?
Personally, I still have Como near the bottom of my list right now for several reasons.
notice it says not to annoy golf courses or statues not "avoid" golf courses or statues. This suggests to me that either one or both of those items are in the vicinity of the medallion - and that we should not get to close to them.
Yes, the word ad is in it, but its part of the latin phrase ad infinitum, just like ad hoc, ad lib, ad nauseum...
ANNOY -
Main Entry: an·noy Pronunciation: &-'noi Function: verb Etymology: Middle English anoien, from Middle French enuier, from Late Latin inodiare to make loathsome, from Latin in + odium hatred -- more at ODIUM Date: 13th century transitive senses 1 : to disturb or irritate especially by repeated acts 2 : to harass especially by quick brief attacks intransitive senses : to cause annoyance
thaanks, my a is stuck so beaaar with me, ad=add ?
Those were my thoughts as well "Shoveler"
"ad infinitum" anagram is "find minutia". Minutia means a small or minor detail.
Translation from clue one:
Dig elsewhere and you'll find a small or minor detail.

Ad-nnoids?
ROFLOLPMP!!! Sorry... I couldn't help it!
Did anybuddy else catch The Number 4 last nite after the movie and see:
The news guy pronounce Ciatti's "Chee-atti's"? And when he talked about *this* year's WC, they had up LAST year's WC button?
What are your ideas on park size? Small, relatively unknown or big park? My bet is on small...
Just a wild thought......
What if all this talk about secret, bold, gold, etc. means that they have hidden a map that will lead you to the Medallion?
Something new and different.....goes with someones "pirate" theory.

Gold could refer to Olympic Gold...Tom Malchow???
