JOE!!!
green- they have an upstairs now, do you know what floor we'll be on?
Hello!
We are now back south - just in time to start the getting ready thing and getting outta here.
Easy drive back. I sure like it when the traffic is lighter and the roads are dry.
So we all have cell phone connections - but do we have anyone calling with the clue?
Tim - Last I heard, we don't know where we'll be at McGovern's - but we will be there somewhere. You'll find us.
Timmers, you will NOT miss us! LOL!!! We'll be the large, rowdy group!
Ter, I got to pick my phone number! There was a number there that just fit!
Found my pom-poms you all gave me!!!!!!! And a BRAND NEW virginal CC tee shirt!
Gots to get ready then take care o'Hattie...
Fro'ing under water.
Hi all! This is my first time on the board. Looking forward to talking to everyone as we attempt to figure out the clues. This is my 5th year searching, but my first time to the cooler.
Best of luck to all!
Welcome to the cooler Jordenn!

Guide
Hello Fellow Hunters.
I just wanted to let everyone know that my entire site layout has changed. I have a special Clue Research section where I will be adding new features daily. Also, I will be devoting a section to the Documentary that will be filmed diring the hunt. It will include the latest news, message boards where the people filming the doc will discuss certain things or what not. Anyway, be sure to check it out, as you should not be dissapointed.
Sorry I couldn't make it tonight I'm feeling a little sick right now.
Is anyone waiting don at the press for th first clue???
Hi if anyone is here. Didn't make it to the Pre-party:( Hope that someone can post the 1st clue in here.
HEY RR, I didn't make it to the bash either.
Dang cold has got me tied up, I can only hope I can fight it off for this week ahead.
OOh, that's bad, load up on lots of C, and drinks.
yeah the problem is I keep pouring a little of the gin in with my O.J.
Been pounding the zinc however.
that's not a problem, that's good!!
At least I hope to be ready to solve these clues.
And don't forget the vitamins, we will all need them.
Only 15 minutes left
My guess is that the Sunday paper with the clue comes out at midnight.
don't feel bad shoveler and raft. i was intent on going to the bash, too. except i ended up helping my brother move a boatload of old (free but near mint) kitchen cabinets from their current home to his new one. my back isn't feeling so great at the moment (although a trip to the pub might have done it good :), i don't think i'd have been able to get out of the car. i doubt i'll be able to get out of the chair to go to bed in 15 minutes or so). sorry terry. next year.
clue is out
here it is:
Go through the cold and prepare to be bold, or you won't find the secret item Our beloved St. Paul is the place for gold, dig elsewhere and you'll search infinitum Last year at Newell our fate was most cruel, unfortunately the game ended too soon Come now and prepare for a much tougher duel, keep on your toes or you'll hunt until June
I'm hoping someone will post the clue.
Hi all- Just got back from the party. Met lots of new and fun folks. Looking forward to solving this puzzle with them. Only 5 more minutes!!! Leelabell
10 grand says its on a not in a golf-course-less park. :)
joe.
clue is out
posted msg 10247.
clue is out
Yucky clue, dang
not that i want to over-analyse yet, but being bold may well be a reference to being in yet another new park. or they could have been bold enough to put it in wakefield if they hadn't restricted the hunt to st. paul.
Yes, being bold could mean that. Do you get anything else except the St. Paul thing?
Sh*t, where to start, not ready for this.
The part that jumps out at me is the line "keep on your toes". I also notice that this clue doesn't say anything about being in a PARK in St. Paul just that it is in St. Paul.
Past first clues always say it is in a park; it does not say that with this clue....
quick... is there a June street or Ave?? Ha ha
I was just thinking that it didn't mention golf course like it often does at the beginning.
Our beloved ? Church, wedding. Gold top of something, ????????????
I gots ta go with my first instinct of the Capitol Mall, since in reality it isn't really a park, otherwise it might just be buried somewhere willy-nilly, like that time they put it under a bridge.
Place for gold could mean something.
I wonder if someone new has done this years clues; it seems worded different somehow.
what's infinitum mean?????????
interesting clue words/phrases:
line 1: bold line 2: beloved, gold, infinitum line 3: cruel line 4: duel, keep on your toes, june
infinitum (latin) forever.
Cool and cruel all at the same time.
Usually the first clue is pretty vauge; talks about being in a park in St. paul and don't ruin any golf courses, etc. This 2001 clue has alot of things in it for being a first clue and all.
keep on your toes == near a walking path of some sort?
what's on your mind ssp?
meaning for duel ?? is it Fight ???
Ares--like your link of "keeping on your toes" to a walking path of some sort....
I like bold meaning new park. Most people think it will not be in a new park.
I have been thinking it will be downtown, but everyone at the party tonight thinks there is not enough parking.
raft - a duel is traditionally gentlemen's warfare. one guy challenges the other to a duel (over money, a woman, some comment he made, etc.). the challengee gets to choose the weapons (in "ancient" times, duels were fought with swords, but many swords were replaced with pistols as gun powder was invented). with swords, the fight till the death. with pistols, you stand back to back, walk 10 paces, turn and shoot.
and i still claim the best way to solve the presidential election would have been 2 pistols and 10 paces. :)
Could "duel" have to do with that big Vulcan fight to "dethrone" at the end of the Carnival--where is that duel held, anywany...
New park like say Harriet island
thanks Ares, so duel come maybe point to Battle ?
raft--the clue does not mention "park" of any kind....
I was thinking of something more like a never-before-used park, kind of like being an iconoclast at conway in 99, but given the past history about how one clue about a garbage can led to every public can being overturned. i believe that park was harriet island, and it is new.
Yeah i know, i'm baffled already, sorry
I said "no" to early analysation. it just wouldn't listen to me. :). You may be on to something with battle as well.
It's really strange that Newell is mentioned, new well ?
raft--I like your by-line of "right hunt..wrong park"; I could add "right hunt, right park, but wrong person got it"! Maybe this year....got to get SSP back on the map!
Hey there.
I've been looking for the medallion for a few years now but this is the first year that I have posted in here.
I am really thinking that it is in a bigger park this year because it is telling us that it will be "a much tougher duel". Meaning there will be more space to look for it in.
Secret item = the puck is no secret. The SECRET is the SECRET.
ssp, that's funny, yes, the right person should find it this year, ME
The word "line" is used quite a bit in this clue..ideas?
we've had what, 4 or 5 ideas in the last half-hour here, each one about a different piece of the clue, any of which could be the ticket. i figure at most 2 of them are correct; mom doesn't give us that much in the first clue. so which ones are the right ones, and which ones were put there to make us overanalyse?
Which "line" were you doing when you saw that???
huh, ssp?
Our beloved St. Paul is the place for gold....... The puck is not gold, so what is ? Beloved ? Do they refer to the Capital as the beloved ? anyone else want to share on this ?
Sorry--was thinkin' of something else; it's already getting to me!
they was smokin'
yeah they was smokin'
first letter of each line spells good luck and I think thats about all thats in this clue
are you sure the puck isn't gold (colored)? the golden anniversary is generally the 50th?? perhaps they changed it this year?
And what is really BOLD
That's not likely that they changed the color of the puck.
Well: beloved, June, gold (rings): weddings?
Night all, happy hunting.
I am also stuck on bold.
well, now we've got a reason for the "hints" mom's dropped. she needed them to spell out "good luck"
Do they still have those gold horses on top of the state capital?
night leela.
and on that note, g'night to everyone else, too.
good night ares and ...GOOD LUCK
Bold gold, yes that's what i'm thinking. Beloved, also thinking about wedding, gold steeple.
another thought, if the clues spell out Good Luck, that could refer to horseshoes.
guess i'll have to wait for someone to get home from the party..
any noodles will do.........Hello
horseshoes could be put on a horses toes (hooves)
well GOOD LUCK to all and GOOD NIGHT, sleep well for tomorrow we hunt.
or a place with a horseshoe pit, yes, they sound good
good nigt to you then, i'm staying up for awhile, i took a nappy
Well another great "Medallion-Opener"!
Had tons-o-fun at McGovern's tonight! It was a pleasure meeting many folks. It's great to put a face with a name!
Jake . . . . thanks for the Medallion Jeopardy and arranging for the special guests! It was great fun!
Gonna get under the blankets here, and try to catch Horror Incorporated on channel 45. So nighty and SCMD's to all!
Oh, almost forgot . . . .
Green, thanks for being the hostess with the mostess! Thanks for arranging for the goodies.
You've out-done yourself this year!
Nighters!
MJ still here.... who was the special guest ?
rivvraft I arranged for several past winners to be there. The Davolis included.
oh, o.k. , so how was the party, everyone noodling away ?
it's gotta be up high for you to keep on your toes
??? keep on your toes ????????
keep on your toes, that soundes good, on your toes = high
ok-back from McGovern's--it is really great to see the crew. These are a great bunch of people. Really. I will give this out--it's in a big park. The clue writer seems angry that it was found so early last year. I say no rec centers. Hidden Falls is my early handicapping guess--based on nothing!!!!! Green, Treasure Guide, Terry, Tim*, Allison, Annete, DDy, Dad, E&h mom, WW, Marley King, Tiny Thumbs, Electric Duane, Terry, Inks, and whomeever I am forgetting, you are really good people! Think big park, or Downtown. This clue is a throwaway--thank God it's in St. Paul.
While leaving McGoverns, I stepped on a wad of gum, and the medallion was stuck to my shoe. You can stop noodling now. Goodnight to all of you in coolerland.
Howdy again Downtown Dave!
My read of the first clue - it's in St. Paul...not necessarily a park...no mention of golf courses yet...bold could mean thinking outside the box...on your toes could have something to do with ballerinas????
What a great evening! Sure wish those of you who couldn't make it had been there. It was memorable to say the least.
Jake - Thanks for all the hard work you did with the Jeopardy game!
AnnetteB - Great meeting you! Glad you came!!!
Meeting new folks - putting faces with names - the stories - the finders - the noodling - the buttons - the laughs - the old friends - the new friends - what could possibly be better?
As the first clue reads - GOOD LUCK to one and all. May a cooler crew member find it this year!!!
sorry i didn't get to meet any of you, i'll see ya in the park.
It's OK, riv--the parks are where the action is.
That's what would be better! If we could have met everyone.
For those of you who didn't make it tonight, remember we do a rehash bash in the park where the medallion is found on Sunday, February 4th about noon. It's pot-luck so when you're tired of noodling clues you can noodle what you might want to bring to the picnic.
I think I will bring.....Noodles.
Poker hand Joe. You would think Mom would have started a new thread today........
Noodles are good!
Terry-I am only being half facetious--tonight, for after tavern, I have soup--homade from pork bones softened earlier today, homemade noodles, carrots, onions and celery. I may be a 33 year old bachelor, but I make very good soup. Night All--Next clue will come soon.
And for good measure--really good poker hand Joe.
When the pre-hunt partygoers give their reports, I'll be ready to post a story at coolercrew.com. This Water Cooler and coolercrew.com should be getting some press in the morning paper. Sorry if the story makes it sound like I do all the work. Blame the PP editors, because I know this board and the mild success of coolercrew.com has so much more to do with group rather than individual. Good luck to all of you. I hope to see some of you folks out in the snow next week. I'll be the one with the big, ugly, bright orange Tampa Bay Buccaneers jacket (old logo). I couldn't bear to wear the Vikings jacket this year, so I thought I'd show my wishful thinking by displaying an image of the Super Bowl home team.
That soup sounds good to me!
I think I'm going to try to unwind and watch something mindless on television till I fall asleep.
Goodnight, GOOD LUCK, SCMDs!!!!
Greg - the story is already up! Check out the Winter Carnival link at the top of this page to find it.
And Tony!!! Lurk no more!!! It was wonderful meeting you tonight!!!!
Yep, read the story. (But it's still more fun to see it in the paper.)
How many were in attendance at McGovern's? Roughly.
Greg - I'm doing an email to you...but roughly speaking...30? There was some coming and going...and three finders! Bill from the Victoria and 35E find. The man who found it in Mears Park in the Bull Durham bag under the bench and the Davouli's from the Newell find last year.
I clicked the link and couldn't find the story. Can you help?
DDY - They changed that way that was from just a few minutes ago. Hold on....I'll find it.
OK.
DDY - Thanks for making the reservations and being there first thing! You are super!!!
Here's the url for the story.... http://www.pioneerplanet.com/wintercarnival/033721.htm
Thanks, Terry! Good story! And glad I could help out a little!
You must have missed the post, Greg. About 30 or maybe 35. Hard to say for sure with all the comings and goings...but I think that's fairly accurate.
Greg: Read message 10340!
I'm gone. Will read more posts in the a.m. Glad it went so well.
Greg: I still have Cooler Crew pictures on my web page and you're free to use them if you like.
But first a rare Joe.
Rare joe?
I like this clue...i think that it tells us more than we think...2 major clues in it....."good luck" deal is suposta throw us for a loop......i have a feeling this hunt wont see past the eighth clue unless the beat around the bush for a few clues....
hey hehe tougher than you will see!! check it out the drinks are on me
Im glad i took time off this year from work....its going to get intense come wends or thurs.....
What are the early ideas?
Hey, don't you all ever sleep? It was great meeting everyone tonight. Good luck.
27 - bold, gold, beloved June = wedding bold = new park
Nope, it is in an old, big park....i feel this clue could have been a #3 or #4 clue.....JUNE has somthing to do with it!!
I am very excited to see tomorrows clue....i hope it has to do with somthing off in the distance from the park.....this clue i feel gives us a huge hint towards the park....now it just has to narrow the area down and buy time....
I am not sure yet about new or old park. Most folks are leaning toward old park. I do like the bold, gold, beloved and June leading toward wedding or something along those lines.
I think this will be a hard year, because last year was not. However, this clue has so much potential.
June is the biggest month for weddings, isn't it ? beloved, gold ?
I think by taking bold, gold and june...and getting weeding is a bit far streched.....this hunt isnt going to have anything to do with a weeding.....june is a reference to somthing else in time....
Did Terry V and green leave for the night?
our beloved st. paul ? saint paul ?
I'm yust checking in after slogging...
I'll be bock... Gotta read about The Greatest Web Master EVER!
Bock in a bit...
I think it is just extra words in there to get us running like chickens with our heads cut off....they dont want this thing found at 5 or 6 this year...last year people knew and were swarming newell after 3....stay focused and we will find this sucker
Could keep on your toes mean it is hidden in a shoe?? I think beloved could a maeniful word// but what does it mean???
Thanks to everybody at McGoverns for being so friendly and making us feel welcome. We had a great time! We have a whole different picture of the cooler crew now that there are faces to go with the names.
I'm still here! Hi Green! Hi Marley - and Kelly is it? I'm soooo bad with names.
Just sent an email to our webmaster. My count actually came to 42 - and I may have missed a few. It was soooo wonderful meeting everyone!!!
Yes Terry, Kelly it is. Thanx
What else is everyone noodleing about with the first clue?
Go through the cold = snow maze??.
tougher duel = archery range?? or hockey.
hunt until June = I am over analyzing and thats when they will let me out of the nut house??
June = possible street name???
attatched to a good luck charm ofsome sort? Horseshoe, rabbits foot, ???
I like hearing what everyone else has to say about all the words and the possible meanings.
My take on this first clue...It's in St. Paul - but it didn't say park. The clue writer is hoping for a longer hunt. May be a new (be bold=out of the box?) treasure sight. Time will tell though.
Prepare for a much tougher duel sounds like clues2-8 will be pretty repetative about the neiborhood the park is in. Sounds like a big park also Phalen....
There is a Juniper Ln in Highland park
Phalen is certainly long overdue and it's a big park...if it's in a park at all.
Go through the cold and prepare to be bold Or you won't find the secret item Our beloved St. Paul is the place for gold Dig elsewhere and you'll search ad infinitum Last year at Newell our fate was most cruel Unfortunately the game ended too soon Come now and prepare for a much tougher duel Keep on your toes or you'll hunt until June
I think prepare to be bold and staying on your toes means having to throw out some conventional logic, and since they didn't say it was in a park, I'm really starting to believe its really not in a park. They want the hunt to last longer, the second stanza is quite clear about that. With our treasure hunters guides and lists of parks and all the other resources we have for studying parks, what better way to throw hunters off the trail this year than to not use a park? I think the duel refers to the hunters vs. the clue writer. I also suspect a bit right now that the clues may be tougher this year too, but if you crack them perhaps they'll be more precise in guiding you to the medallion? I say that because of the last line, that maybe its in an obscure hiding place that you wouldn't find accidentally, and thus could hunt until June unless you're on your toes (i.e. clever in solving the clues). That's what I get from this so far, though its possible there's something very obscure and secret in it too somewhere.
LOL!!!! Marley, I'm SURE you DO have a "whole different picture" o'The Crew!!! And ittiz not pretty! ROFLOLPMP!!!!
So glad you two made it, and Annette, and Lullabell (sp?)
Tiny, feel free to smack me upside the head for not recognizing your name. But your face, I knew I KNEW you! I talked to you and 'Lectric Dave LOTS at "The Pity Party"!!!
This was the bestest EVER Pre-Dig Gig!!! Those that are new just this year and those that are in their second year... HOLY CROW!!! Old hands at not only noodling, but fitting right in. Any stranger (you know, folks more stranger'un us...) would never EVER have known that all o'us hadn't know each udder for years and years.
Ittiz so nice to see good people trust and believe in others - and themselves - and have a good time and enjoy a shared, common interest no matter their ages and backgrounds.
Pops, you win the award for the Best Pops In The World. Thank you SO MUCH for bringing Timmers. He's the best kid... Even if he can upstage me with his wise-acre mouth!!! LOL!!!
STALLION!!! You've been gone too long! I've mizzed you!!! SO GLAD you came, and brought Home Boy. I think he's gonna fit right in. Nice guy. Your's truly will have wunnerful eats... My Chile Cheeze Dip, Stall....
MJ, you love. Thanks for the accolades, but gosh. I was only doing what the producer and/or filmer asked me to. I wasn't hosting anything - we all hosted: It wuz OUR party!!! You were every bit an Ambassador o'The Crew as I was, or Kelly, or Annette, or Steven (you know, that author guy???), or Ter, or Dad. Or any o'us.
Jake... *I* THINK it was Colonel Mustard in the Library with Miss Scarlet. That's my final answer after I buy a vowel. You didn't have ONE, NOT ONE, clue that a totally clueless and in the dark purrson could get!!! You are to bee commended for inviting The Finders that you did!!! THAT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! What a brilliant idea!
It's almost 3AM!! I'm headed for the sheets now!!!
Goodnight and SCMDs to coolerheads everywhere!
This year - coolerheads will prevail!!!!
clue 1 its in st paul clue 2 its in a park clue 3 stay of golf course think there stretching the clues out to make it 15 clues instead of 12
My better judgement says this first clue says St paul and thats it but....I like to dig each night, Gotta get into the swing of it ya know. Gonna dig Phalen because its closer to my house.
Sorry I missed the party, we drove to it, but the kids were not in the mood so we went to play with trains instead, and of course a quick drive through Como.1 digger was there 6 hrs before the first clue??
A friend of mine made the suggestion that not finding it until June might mean its somewhere where the snow or ice might stay until June?
Nite, Ter! Thanks for the GREEN lighter! SCDs to you!!!
New Daddy, mizzed you... But hope to see you and yours, not only out in the parks digging, but at The Re-Hash Bash????
Filming will be going on Tues nite at McGovern's with the crews from NY. But I don't know what time yet...
Otay... WHO WAS THE WISENHIEMMER THAT PUT "THE MED" IN MY COAT POCKET??? Has to be one o'the following:
Mom, Dad, Inks, Ter, or EAGS... If I 'member correctly, it was given to her by Ittiz...
HOW COULD YOU PART WITH SUCH A RELIC????????
Everbuddy's gotta be a wise-ass... ROFLOLPMP!!!
two medalions this year???
goodnight to all see you at phalen lol
goodnight, not much to do with the clue yet
"Now I lay me down to sleep;
I pray The Med, well hidden, will keep.
If It Bee found Beefore I wake,
I pray The Devil that ba$%a@d TAKE!!!"
Nite, all!!! SCDs to each and every single Cooler Crew Member!
May this year be OURS!!!!
Joe!
Ian, Ittiz, Bee, Greg... I've left the light on for you ("To show you the way...") and expresso in the coffee maker.
Nite.
sorry u missed the point!! OH WELL THERS ALLWAYS TOMORROW
hide the medallion
Green:
Light's on, espresso's on...just like old times, eh?
Is anyone gettin' excited yet? Oh MY !
Getting exicited...
Could duel refer to a tennis court??
Found an anagram for cruel..........ULCER!!!
Good Marning!
Ian! You BETCHA!!! My java's brewing now. Kind'a slept in 2day, what with staying up until 4:00 AM... YIKES! The Hunt's afoot! Just as I was about to toddle last nite, I had a profound awakening and got a good handle on Clue One... I forgot to post it and now I can't remember what it was!!!! (The 'Crew gives a HUGE collective sigh o'relief...)
Ian, we got t-shirts last nite, but you can still get one... I need to make a list o'those that didn't so I can see that they do. (green make note to self.) We MISSED you last nite!!!
I saw that Mom asked... You WILL Bee bringing your Sloppy Joe Medallions to the Re-Hash Bash, won't you?
Gotta take a poll here:
If you were out Digging - during The Hunt - and you unearthed a bunch o'leaves all taped together, what would YOUR first instinct Bee?
A) Crunch them up
B) Ignite them
C) Smell them
Mornin! It was good seeing you last night Green!! What about Battle Creek? But I suppose that's TOO obvious at this early stage, ey?
Hey Crewe!
Sounds like a hoot last night!....
Be careful not to interpret Clue #1 too specifically, it would be the first time more than 1 idea is givien away...
That said, what a frickin' LONG first clue!!!!
Rock on Pioneer Press, you Orwellian, Anthropoid, Clue-Givin' Party Ape of a daily newspaper!
Disappointed that the hunt is earlier this year, always like the fact that it makes the 'boring' part of winter seem shorter...
Peace - Hollywood over & out
Joe!
Narthern! Was YUST thinking about chew!!!
You, Mom & Dad, MJ & TT, and Ian gotta get and sign releases fur the kiddies if they're gonna be out with you Digging. I wish I'd thought o'that last nite...
And don't we need to get Tyler a tee? (And gotta put down Ian's boys...)
I guess I'll hafta sign one fur Pickles incase I bring him...
NL, ittiz NEVER too early to noodle what park The Med's gonna be in! I think there are some very important things in #1 that will mean more later. One thing that gets me that "Keep on your toes" speaks/reads kind'a awkward in those two lines.
"Gold" kind'a gets to me. Usually ittiz "loot," "prize," "treasure," etc. Gold is awfully dang specific, when ittiz not really gold, but a blue plastic puck (NOT A BLACK RUBBER SIOUX CITY HOCKEY PUCK!) that you turn in for cash. And cash izz not usually referred to as "gold."
Hhhuummm...
I do think we've got a miffed Doofy Clue Writer(s), tho! LOL!!! Sounds like he's got a teeny chip on his shoulder... Reads, "Okay, wise-acres! I'll show YOU!"
Izz boxing an Olympic sport?
I got one o'them palamino Joes!!!
Good Morning all! 3:00am!!!!!!!!!! Geez don't you crazy people EVER sleep??? Save your energy for later this week!! My take is that we are not going to figure out the park so ealy this year and we will be "noodling" on here for a while. Of course you all know that I will figure out the park first and be digging there waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before anyone else............course it will be the wrong one,but hey at least I will have a park!
I agree green its never too early to noodle....look at last year....people sat around till 3 or 4 and they got left behind!
Boxing is an olympic sport.
I think there is two definate clues that are useful here....other stuff is trying to confuse us and throw us for a loop....
I like how the first letter in each line spells "GOOD LUCK"....i dont know if this is a sence of humor or what....what i do know is the last time this style was used is in 95...battle creek is the park to be exact.....
Careful 27,this maybe a hodge podge of old styles used in the past.Wouldn't that be a kick?????????
the first thing i thought about the "keep on your toes or youll hunt till june thing is Basketball....have to stay on your toes, and NBA finals are in june...but that is too far fetched
Just looking back at some past clues and in 92 and 93 park is never mentioned and in 95 and 96 it wasn't until clue #2, I don't think we should read too much into it's absence in clue #1 this year.
The first thing I thought of when I read "keep on your toes" is ballerinas.
I have narrowed it down to four parks...i hope the clue has to do with somthing in or near park tonite...and tommorrow somthing in the distance.....i need to elimanate 3 of my 4 by tuesday
Is there a park in St.Paul that is designated especially for ballet?
Scribe, how will you relate that to any park....other than mabye rice park.....i know its not there, the fountain is fenced in.....where do you think it is?
"place for the gold" HMMMMMMMMMMMMM PIRATES?????????
Pirate ballerinas?
LOL that would make for one ugly dancer.....lol
"much tougher duel" Hmmmmmmmmmm,Fencing perhaps. What park pertains to fencing ballerina pirates?
"Secret item" is there a red light district near this park?
Hey 27 I'm only joking!!! You gotta have a little fun with this too!
This is only the first clue.Take deep breaths with me okay?
BREATHE IN......
BREATHE OUT.............
BREATHE IN.............
AND HOLD IT................
Wise Guy!
Caa n't po st I ca n't brea the........
Good Morning Everyone! Just wanted to stop in and say "thanks". What a great pre-hash bash. It was so nice to finally meet some of you people. See you out in the park!
So scribe, you never gave me your ideas at to which parks the loot is in...
Whooooooooooooooooosh!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told you 27 it is only the first clue,I think we can narrow it down from Ramsey county to St.Paul.
Morning Mr.Med!
ok i guess we will see in a few days.....i think it is ok to sit back and wait if this was a month long hunt....but in all reality it is only 7-10 day hunt....have to get idea off the bat and stick with it till somthing tells you otherwise.....i start to dig after clue 3 and i hate just digging wildly.....gotta know where to dig!!!!!
sup med.
This is what I am saying 27. Save your energy, get some sleep.Come Wednsday you"ll be ready and won't dig up the wrong park. Take it from someone who's done it!!!!!!!!
Are you telling me i havent done that?? last year i sat around till 4 then went to linwood for a day and a half.....arived at newell morning it was found.....lame hunt.....99 i spent first 4 days at phalen and highland.....lemme ask you this....HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU FOUND IT?
Nevermore 27,nevermore! That is why I'm only a expert at saving energy not finding the bleeping thing!
You aint gonna find it sitting at home wating for the park to become clear as heck....you have to do the work before somone beats you to it.....work, work, work...eat, sleep, work, work, work, bathroom, work, work, eat, nap, work, work.....what is the pattern here?
WORK!
Scribe left, she's taking a nap right now.
It was great seeing all of you at the "Pre-Dig Gig" last night!
Ter, this Joe's for you!

Well I don't know that I could get enough out of #1 to warrant picking up a shovel yet! :) I did play with some of the words and that ol' anagram solver and ad infinitum makes: find minutia! That doesn't bode well for this year's clues, lol! We've got to dig deep this time and find the little stuff I guess :)
Geez-Louise! I shut this "puppy" down...
It's way to early to put much into clue number 1. Other than it's in St. Paul some place. Don't read to much into the first couple of clues. Unless you just can't stand not to be out in the cold.
Inks, this lepoard can't change her spots!
And lettuce not forget "June"...
And Good Marning!
Hi again all-
I know that the clue probably says almost nothing, but I love to consider all angles :)
I think it is near the gate in Como (all the wedding references) where every St. Paul bride gets their picture taken.
OR in some very obscure place because of the word bold.
OR just ignore me because I was up to late last night and I am rambling.
Morning All
It was a lot of fun last night at the pre hunt bash. But let us all remember what the clue writer said. Last year the med was found way to soon.
That is why the pity party took place. On that note we will see you all out in the park.
Is Tim the hunter out there? You know who I am.
Hello all! Last night was fun! I agree that over analyzing the first clue is normally fruitless, but it's just so much fun to actually start using our noodling skills that I just can't help myself! I like the wedding tie-in to Como a lot, probably because I myself am planning a wedding(though it was there just a few years ago). I too was thinking the ballerina idea or maybe just a shoe. Green, I love the idea of the clue leading to Snoopy dancing on his toes! Very fun. And several of the parks now have snoopys in them (highland, phalen, como, etc).
I wish they'd go back to the two clues a day model. This waiting until midnight is going to be the death of me!
Hiyall!
Tiny Thunbs - I second that! I was thinking about that this morning...how am I gonna stay up till midnight, and then get up at 4:30? Should I even bother with these first few clues (you never know when something's gonna *hit* you just the right way)?.....
Maybe I'll get Dad to take care of all the house/kids stuff in the evening, and get some shuteye from like 6:00-10:00.....
Ok, it's not taped to a mailbox downtown.....got that checked off.
