My dictionary says "Cloudless". Maybe yours says something different. Clear can also mean cloudless. English tends to be redundant that way.
HEY ALLISON THE VIKINGS DEAL IS A GOOD THING I THINK YOUR ON TO SOMETHING
well if you read clue 4 well you can see that the first letters in each line spell out "WARS"
http://www.stpaul.gov/depts/parks/userguide/Newlmap.gif
It doesn't matter though as I've said before. When you're out there digging, you look at EVERYTHING and worry later about how it fit the clues.
think the measure has no meaning to taylor... i think the measure will have to do with pace in an earlier clue... how many paces... yet to be given in clue. A Pace is a length of measurement
My guess, and its just a guess, is that measure refers to city blocks, in terms of figuring out how big a space is in between the two items.
Allison, I'm hip to your jive on clue five.
BUT. I still think that if you hide the medallion in a park next to fairview, just south of the fairgrounds, you know that once you refference the first, people will jump to the next. Right? So why bother with two refferences?
I STILL THINK ITS IN MOUNDS AND YOUR ALL BLOWEN SMOKE IF YOU THINK ITS IN NEWELL OR THE FAIRGROUNDS.
Were, I think ittiz been given...
"Set your own pace and it could make you an ace."
And #7 talks about court... Think you pace to/from the tennis court.
Stallion? Are you going for Green's theory over mine? I'm hurt! (hehe, just kidding)
Yeah, you're right Allison, you have hashed it over pretty well. Too many possibilities to be "absolutely" sure anyhow.
I hear ya Snow Lifter!
SO WHAT DO WE ALL DO ?
Thanks Bones....
Wait for another clue.
I'm going to bed....I'm hitting the slopes tomorrow at Welch. I need some rest...
Does anyone know what the record is for the least # of clues the thing was found in?
3rd clue it was found
To be honest stallion, it seems to me these clues were not written all that well. I think we all expected a bigger challenge and so we keep assuming there's something deeper in all this than what seems to be obvious. But at this point I plan on bowing to the obvious and wondering how they could botch it up so badly. The cluewriter must not look in on us after all to see how we think.
agree its so many paces from something... what that something is i have yet to figure out lol.... im still not sure of the park yet!! i also think of a well-trained eye being our eyes reading or i think of aiming.... i know theres an ames street but it doesnt hit anything but prosperity... my wife even thinks the paces from whatever it is were lokking for is going to be the point differential of the vikings loss...lol now theres some noodling
WHAT YEAR?
Turning machine, that's been bothering me too.
It's either something literal: as in the spinning light on the tower at Mounds.
Or it's a metaphor for something else. If it's a metaphor for "wheel" that doesn't really fit for me, cause a wheel isn't a turning machine. You could come up with much better metaphors for Wheeler st. if that were your goal.
I'm starting to think Mounds . . .
I don't think there will be another clue. Too many "angry" folks from last
year bock at Newell this year. :) They're going to find it, or die trying! Hope
ittiz Terry...
I'm going to toddle. Good luck, Everbuddy!
Actually, it was found in 3 days, but that was when there were two clues a day on weekdays, so it was the 5th clue.
THANX STALLION DUDE MOUNDS IT IS
The year it was at Harriet, we had it figured out by the 4th or 5th clue, but we had no idea where to dig, and we kept doubting ourselves.
The wheel, the inclined plane, and the lever are considered the three simple machines, and a wheel does spin.
What about Como, near the Carousel?
If it's at Newell and it's found before I even show up there, then that indeed is poetic justice from last year. I would never step foot in that park or even mention its name ever again!
That's the problem Kitchica Boo. You finally figure out the park, you rush over there, and then suddenly you get overwhelmed with this feeling of "Now what?" as you survey a vast expanse of snow.
It was just at como three years ago, and they have the gaint slide there. You know how people are, they would dig it up.
COMO NOT ACHANCE ITS BEEN THERE TO MUCH. THERE THROWING US ALL A CURVEBALL.
No earmuffs for Terry, no Newell for Stallion. Got it.
MedallionStallion....I have never given up on mounds
That was our first year. We had no idea it was hidden in the middle of nowhere. We were the dingalings looking through the trash and digging around the benches and trees.
Green, that's kinda what I was thinking, but I thought the carousel was off limits
what about the pleasant scene you would see looking out the carousel restaurant windows lol
At this point you have two options. You can either believe the cluewriter is an incredibly devious genius to make us all think its at Newell when its not, or you can believe they're not particularly clever. After reading the explanations for last year's clues, which do you think is more likely?
Here's my problem with Mounds though: No mention of water yet. That doesn't rule it out, but there's always been mention of water if the park was near water.
Maybe one of the well references means a water well.
I'm never overestimating the abilities of the cluewriter again!
Yeah, you're write Allison. I think it's time to look back at yesteryear and get a feel for how those clues worked. After you've been noodlin' them for to long you need to go back and get your mind on the right track again . . .
It is the Cafejians's Carousel <cafe-jians> "will serve to help you as your looking" or "a clue that will really get you cooking' - not a bad try - also I am sure the Carousel itself would be off limits but somewhere between that and the gardens? perhaps.
Yea, what was with using the word well over and over again when the thing was in Newell. Didn't they realize it would get people thinking of that park? I guess they didn't.
#1: In a St. Paul Park
#2: Jogging...Tennis...
#3: Two towers...very visible at MP when you look towards DT
#4: Picnic Shelters and Grills are aplenty at MP
#5: Opposites Attract...Paths combinde for Peds and Bikes...Light tower beacon directs planes in bad weather
#6: Turning Machine=Light Tower...Beautiful Scene=View from bluff...Courts=Tennis Courts...Inbetween Light Beacon and Tennis Courts
Why is this wrong???
Well, it's been a long and eventfull night, but i gotta get up and get my medallion tommorow! Have no idea where they hid that thing, but what I do know is this:
They named the darned thing after me!!!!
g'night everyone! LOL!
The Carousel is at COMO and indoors...when did we get back to Como?
Am I alone in here???
Peds and Bikes are opposites?
Yet they share the same path...marked with a sign
=Oposites Attract!...to the same path
Conway still looks the best to me. They could do that for a 1st time, couldn't they - 2 yrs in a row? That would fool EVERYBODY on this millenium year. It would be so easy that it would be too difficult to see.
Those are just my thoughts
The hour is late and it's time to retire for tomorrow it is the treasure I seek and it's fourtunes I desire!
Conway looks better than Newell? And you think those interpretations of Mounds is better then the ones for Newell?
No it did not
The opposite of cloudy is sunny, which could be a reference to Sun Ray.
Good night
I mean if you're right, you have it all to yourself, but if you really want to invest time in digging, I think you have to look for the strongest argument.
Sorry Cosmo, still nothing.
damn damn damn well hell go to this link and see it... its either in A or B sections of the park... http://www.geocities.com/soho/coffeehouse/1661/newell.gif
Nichevo as the Russians would say (nothing)
There's a good map of it in the Treasure Hunter's Guide, but that would be copyright infringement to publish here I suspect.
Well, I have a digging date of sorts tomorrow morning if it isn't too late, so I should get to bed.
I've been to Newell
Saw Terry, Bob, Bob E. Mom, Dad, Eags
but I suspect we were in the wrong area. My son got tired and cold, and he heas to bowl in a few hours, so we left.
If you're going there, and you have some scrap wood, it would be nice for the fire.
sure, i slog for an hour, and everyone's gone.
I also just got back from Newell. We dug and talked but really had no idea where to start - so we just started. Anyway, was there last night at the same time and what a difference - the place is dug up. Also, I was at Newell on Wednesday and still don't want to believe its there. I much prefer some of the other places I thought of like Iris and Dunning.
King- I slogged for the last 30 min too.
Where were you? My son and I were midway between the play ground and the basketball court.
We were around there too. Then we just went to the fire.
I am off to sleep.
sweet dreams
Hello
Anyone here rather than myself?
Hello
hey what's up seems to me that newell isn't the place again
I'm sure it is
No my place is though
How do you figure newell still?
measure=taylor st.
pleasant view=fairview st.
turning machine=wheeler st.
no Look at my park again and this last clue I know you can figure it out we did
and for the earlier discussion, my alter-ego, Medallion Searcher, was the first to mention "triad newell"....do a search
what are you talking about I am not following
Newell was the last place I stopped tonight. I must say I only stopped there because so many seem to think it's there now. I will have to say, now that I have been out to Newell this year, I am almost positive it is not there. Fairview, pleasant, towers, etc. These clues fit just as well in about 6 different parks that I've scoped out now...and so far, everyone of them seems better than Newell. I was one of the first in Newell last year, and one of the last to leave, so I pretty much have avoided it this year, seeing as from memory...none of it seems to work...usually there is a street name or two included...but Newell people look at yourselves...you guys are turning practically every word into some street association...Going a little too far I think. I bet this treasure hunt goes right up to the end.
Anyone around here yet?
Guess not...good night and good luck!
the first person to mention triad newell was cosmo cat, i was here d00d, just do a search and you'll see the first person to post triad was cosmo , me boy :)
we need to be given credit where credit is due :)
think newell, but it could be wrong, fun diggin with my bud though
nice to meet you terryvalentine and digginqueen
and of course always good to run in to mr. kirk condie as usual, always a good sign that you might be in the right park :) Besides Condie found it at Newell in 84, Cherokee in 92, and 8 years later it only makes sense that he finds it again in Newell Park 2000 !! ;) (you gotta keep your streak alive)
GOOD LUCK -^^- okie dokie -^^-
Is anybody in? Is anybody in? The ceremony is about to begin.
My observation after slogging through over 500 messages= Allison Wonderland is very wise and all who refuse to listen to him are foolish.
I'm so tired. So verrryy tirrrredddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
It's NEWELL no question about it
Hiya Dave and DigginQueen! Nice meeting you too!
Interesting evening at Newell. Got there about 11 and did some scouting. Because of needing to see the multiple picnic shelters, we weren't as excited about the tennis courts as we were about the basketball and volleyball court.
Then onto the turning machine...There were several things we thought of as turning machines. First was the BNSF hub across Pierce Butler from the park. Then there was those hoe things in the playground area that scoop and then turn and then dump. The Wheeler thing though seemed the best fit.
And for those that doubt the hawkeye pierce connection to the one boardering street to Newell, look back at the clues from 1984. It was worded differently, but Hawkeye Pierce was used then too. Well trained eye would be a keen eye...sharp...piercing. And maybe it had nothing to do with Hawkeye - but it did for me.
For those of you, like me, spent some time at Newell last year to end up at Conway in the end, just think of it this way - We were only a year early or the person hiding the medallion was a year late.
Hope to see you all out there tomorrow. But first I will need some sleep.
the madaliob was found
ha ha ha ha i have no clue but good luck to all
Good morning all. Is there anyone here yet?
Again no one here when I am.
Good morning
Hello
Wow. I must have been tired. I've been sleeping for 11 hours!
Welcome fellow medallion hunters. I am under a new name this year for the new mellenium. Last year I was eastside boys this year beast from the east. Has anybody heard from new daddy or damn medallion. I wish everybody lots of luck.
Hey! How am I supposed to clip my clue if the delivery boy missed my house this AM?!
Hey treasure hunter go and take your next door neighbors paper.
Guide, you can print one off the 'puter, or write it down. They'll accept
it.
Good Morning!
I was at Newell last night and I met some of the Cooler Crew! Wright Winger, Electric Duane, and Lorreita it was nice to meet all of you! I apologize if I missed someone, after all it WAS past my bedtime!!!LOL!!!! I was surprised that we were able to find out the park so early, even though it is at a small park. I remane optamistic but I believe tonights clue will only confirm Newell. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
P.S.
I have decided to collect little blue disks/pucks. So if any of you find any at the park, try to contact me. I especially need a winter carnival one to complete my collection!!!LOL
Beast: I think it's a conspiracy..they didn't get theirs either!
Does any body know the easiest way to go from watercooler to the clues.
Green: E-mail me, I want to know your plans.
Beast, click on the very top banner with the w/c and the Cooler Head and
that'll take you to the front page. Scroll down to where it talks about The
Hunt, then click on the link to the new clue.
Treasure hunter it must be someone from Minneapolis or the right wing conspiracy.
Guide, I'm gonna play in the Frog Pond, where I belong! :>
green, were you at newell last night? someone was eager to meet you. i think it was lorieta.
Well good morning all!!! Q are you out there? I'm headed out to Newell. Saw you were up at 2:45 sending me email about the hunt. All the cooler heads are probably sleeping from digging late into the am.. I'll have the new button and an old button 1984 on so you can ID me..... See anyone out there!!! GREEN.....I assuming you'll have GREEN on Again......
Tim, no. I over slept until 12:30 and then figured I'd never get inside the
park. Figured it would have been found by now...
Good morning all.
Any new thoughts? What has everyone desided that turning wheel means?
Not as many people as I thought there would be. THe locusts will be out today/tonight. The hunt probably won't last much into monday
LL- wheeler street, at newell! newell is in between Wheeler street and fairview!
Still too early--even for the Locusts.
can only hope, locusts are scary!
Is anyone doubtful about Newell??? - Jill
Green are you going to Newell this AM?
All of you at Veteren hunters or have at least one year digging experience. Are you sure it's at Newell? What about Mounds, Kellogg, Phalen, or Harriet Island? Newell seams to obivous. It's all about 10K this year!
Maybe they just havent hidden it yet??? that would be sick..
Who is up and ready to go????
Tom I agree. Its 2000, time for something "completely" different
Hay, Grandma Red! Don't know if I'm gonna hit Newell or not... There's still
some questions in my mind... May end up there, don't know.
Grandma, u goin to Newell?
I won't doubt them not hiding it. It's only the start of the winter carnival, plus they are trying to attract all of those Weekend Hunters!
I agree with you Tom - We were all at Newell last year - And I'm going again this morning - everything does seem to fit at Newell - Tonights clue will pin down for sure.
I will look at Newell today gotta check out linwood also phalen still possible, never assume you know the clues cause we always miss interpret one or two.
If it isn't newell I will boycott the hunt.....er at leat till' next year!!!
were going to Newell and others today - As last year about this time it all turned to Conway!
Yep.....I'm ready..... I've been looking for this dang thing since I was a little kid and now I almost ready to retire. It's time I'm going to Newell I'll have a 1986 button on the one with the ice castle.......along with this years of course..
Hey LocalYokel - I remember your other handles - I'm am not totally into newell until tonights clue - What else are you thinkin?
I don't believe it's there at Newell. There are some many other parks that could fit the clues. A simple Truth. Take off the T and it's Ruth, right by the Magnet School and the Tennis Courts. It could be Battle Creek?
Highland is my first stop today
Today's clue was a tease, tonight's clue is going to secure Newell, which has been dugged out, unless the medallion isn't there, or it's going to secure another park, where people have been, but haven't look so well!
I scouted out parks last night, so save your time and look at newell! there isn't a doubt in my simple thinking mind! Then again, I didn't spent hours at newell last year only to have it be at conway. that may help me though!!!
Tom - When were you at Newell?
Oh yes by the way I have red hair.... thusly the Grandma red. Q's kids named me that better the other is Grandma White.
I haven't been yet. I'm not going today, because it's all dug out. I know where is though.
Last night I was Mounds, Phalen, Battle Creek, and Rice!
Dave Severs
When you do your search, at the bottom of the page, click "search for more items"
You are not getting the complete list. It's not that big a revelation, anyway
People, please do not do multiple postings ! What a waste of time, reading that crap.
Tom, you thinkin Phalen?
and what's up with nobody's e-mail being listed ?
You have to look how long to took at Conway - That place looked like a war zone last year - With no less than 500 people diggin. I went by Newell last night and thought it was barely touched. I'm sure with last nights clue it now is pretty dug up - I'm still gonna check it out.
It's a possiblity. There's a place where you can see radio towers, grills, a pavallion, the statue, and a half-circle court. Plus Phalen runs by Wheelock Parkway.
Medallion, u seen aliceinwonderland online lately.
Were headed out - Good luck to all - Jill
Medallion Searcher...you are in a bad mood or what? Keep it clean!!!
he must be sloggin
Where you guys going?
Tom, isnt there an archery range just north of Lake Phalen? under the small overpass.
Grandma, I edited, but it was not blatant. I had a few *'s in there.
I suspect A W is sleeping or hunting.
More than half the fun is sloggin and reading everyones ideas. Since I've found (Q found) the cooler it has be a lot more interesting and fun for me. You all are such great thinkers...!
If anybody wants to look at parks from the air. Go to terraserver.microsoft.com. You can put in where you want to look and zoom in pretty close. Kind of cool way to look at things
Hey, it has to be newell.
Something between Fairview and Wheeler, from todays clue. Serve you well refers to Pierce Butler.
Why was today's clue in black and white?
HELLO, ARE THE STATE FAIR GROUNDS CONSIDERED A SAINT PAUL PARK? COULD IT EVER BE THERE? SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER. I/2 IS IN SAINT PAUL AND 1/2 IS IN FALCON HEIGHTS.
Yes, the fairgrounds are fair game, as I understand it.
I remember as a kid they found the medallion in the middle of the midway somewhere.
Hasn't been there in awhile. The guys who run the fairgrounds get really upset with everyone digging around the pronto pup booths.
Good morning again
It is not in the Fair
Good Morning! Out Digging last night and some a**hole drove by and said "are you guys looking for this?" Alot of people took off after that. I hate when someone does that. You never know what to think!
WHY IS IT NOT AT THE FAIR?
How many Phalen supporters are still hanging tough? I hate to believe it but I really think it is Newell now for sure...the clues fit too well...
The Fair is not a city park, they will kick you out of there..
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A MERRY-GO-ROUND BETWEEN THE DISC GOLF AND DOUBLE SHELTER AT HIGHLAND?
No merry fo round at highland
Definitely NOT in the FAIRGROUNDS...OFF LIMITS...Considered PRIVATE PROPERTY...
Green...are you still stuck on Phalen...have you reconsidered Mounds at all
Good morning...anybody here???
Morning Mac
Mac...What are your theories on Mounds Park? I am kinda leaning that way myself!!
Mac, I'm still noodling this clue and, yes!, trying to s-t-r-e-t-c-h it to
Phalen! :) Not having the best o'luck.
Mounds is not a park I'd ever try. Fence or no fence, I think folks would
find a way to go over them and dig.
Sumbuddy else said, "May as well have The Med in a city cemetary." Or words
to that effect. I can see picnicing there, but not Hunting for The Med.
I don't think that it's at Mounds. You can make the clues fit but they are a strech. But that's just my oppinion.
Bounce back to 1:30 am...i have a lengthy explanation there as to my thoughts...my diggin partner is mad that I'm sharing...oh well...THE HUNT IS ON!
This is wayyyy tooooo Much Fun
Yeah, I believe so. What suprises is that they haven't said anything about water.
I can make it fit with words, but I don't know visually. I'm gonna hafta get
dressed and go out there...
I still think that Phalen is a possibility being that it's on Wheelock Parkway. But I don't know. Can anyone tell me how clues 2 and 5 fit Newell?
This may be inexperience here, but I can't imagine it being at Newel... anyone else agree?
I'll bee bock in a bit. Gonna go underwater.
Yeah, I believe so. What suprises is that they haven't said anything about water.
Same thing with Phalen then. That whole lawsuit thing with Maplewood? They actually lock the gates? That doesn't sound right for a park that has the Medallion in it. Does it? I'm leary.
Hey folks--I'm back from early morning digging at Newell....very sore, many people.....was slogging through the early morning messages, didn't stay up for clue--wow--people really get uptight at 2 am, don't they! If it's in Newell, it will be found soon. Even without the X spot clue, the Newell crew will hit it at random by 2pm
I still think that maybe people are streching things to make it fit or that they are just taking 1 or 2 words out of a phrase to make it fit. I don't know but it still seems that way for me.
WHY MOUNDS?
Judy--because sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't....couldn't help myself.
Can anyone tell me how clues 2 and 5 fit Newell?
LOL Dave!
I can't get clue 2 to fit anywhere...Green had a theory a few postings back I think....
That's funny Dave! I said the same thing last night!
LL--I can't get clue 2 to fit Newell--bothers me a bit. clue number five--opposite of cloudy and foul=fair as in MN state fair. I think clue number 2 does not refer to a specific park NOT EACH CLUE DOES, but rather tells you where in the park the disk is, in this case, I believe it is telling you the disk is away from well travelled areas.....
Is there a Statue is Newell?
A statue of what?
No statue tom--well everyone--I am going back to Newell--see ya' on the dig! Gotta get out of downtown before parade traps me in!
Thanks Dave I was kind of thinking that about the clue also.
I finally got out of bed and am awake now. Going out to Newell in a bit.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
I am unlike most of you being that I go to bed early and get up around 3am to check out the clues.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Medallion was found by the end of the weekend. In fact, I'd be surprised if it wasn't. So it looks like we may not even hit 10,000 posts this year. Got over 20,000 last year.
I think that I am going to take a shower and then head out there.
Loot = Common Thing To Steal i.e. TRAIN ROBBERY
Chase = Cops and Robbers on a Train
Amtrak? Train Tracks?
Talk to you all later.
My thoughts are that because the most obvious towers in Newell are to the west, and the clue said to look in Boreas' direction, which I still say is to the north, it meant look for the medallion in the north.
There are tracks right across Pierce Butler from Newell.
It's not the North. Boreas was the King of St. Paul.
North = Titan West = Zephyerus South = Euros East = Something Else
Trying a new approch,
It is NOT at the fairgrounds (they are not in the city of St. Paul)
It is NOT at Mounds park to many morons go tramping on the mounds and get to many people upset. It is just not worth it for them to hide it there.
I really don't think it is at Newell. I just think a few people really want it to be.
I was liking the capital mall. But I think that is ruled out now.
Could be Highland. But I'm starting to think it is in a park that has not really hit the radar screen here in the water cooler.
So I am going to ponder over this map and start looking at places not mentioned here.
http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_find?uid=u0kcrtx2.4ucc0ql%3Aasd4tg9zz&mscsid=&link=ia-map-result&SNVData=njij9-gw7%253bvdduvj%257c556%2Ccjtsc%2528z%2Cf7c3m%25280%2Cc2j%257c5qft5u.3rs%253b_wluzgl.q8k8%2529c2j%257c5qfb5g.q8k8%2529cw8%257c.ha2l04%2Ci4o6%2540klqrkq%257cl%2524bcjs%257cdyx1%2529iw%253b2%253btb0fj%257cfiid%257cyj1mm4.q8k8dr-oxiw%253ba%253bB%257cWIK%253bW%2540BBD%253bklqr-jdvndg-7n0m%25241qqxog-wbwik5%2Cfj7cyv%253b&mouse_mode=center&map.x=533&map.y=306
The thing to remember at this point in the game is that you can take any of the clues and find several parks to fit them. But for it to be the correct park, you have to have an explanation for every clue (unless there's one you have to admit you don't understand at all, like #2). And even then, if you have more than one park, you have to ask yourself if, as the cluewriter, was this what you would have meant in writing this clue, or is it that you yourself are taking things and making them fit?
Allison, you don't see all those towers to the north? Have you been there in daylight?
Hhhhuuummm... Allison, you might have sumpin' there.
Would fit with 2day's clue.
Why not Captiol Mall?
I just woke up after a wonderful 6 hours of sleep. Going to breakfast, then the kids want to go hunting and then to the parade. Hmmm hunting / parade, hunting / parade. hard choice when ya have 3 kids going pleeeease.
Who can anticipate the next clue? Any guesses?
There are towers to the north, like the thing at the state fair and other things coming off of Midway stadium, but the most obvious towers are to the west. It just seems odd that the cluewriter would refer to obscure towers in the distance when those other two were right there looming over them.
The last two clues just don't fit the mall. IMHO
well I got some news for ya all. Was out at NP last night & guess who I met? The guy who was a 2 time finder. Once at NP at once at hidden falls. Kind of gives ya that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Like your at the right park.
The next clue will either list two landmarks you can see from the hiding spot, or one landmark and a reference to what it is hidden in. My guess is it will say something about a big rock
It is correct that clue 3 does not say to look for the TOWERS in KB's direction. I think I have stubbed my toe on that rock a couple of times.
I think wall(s). Maybee a tree, too. Maybee "split". And even "fair game."
I think I need to go talk to that Frog in his pond and keep him company!
:)
I think clue 3 was the cluewriter's attempt to be sneaky and make you think it wasn't Newell because the towers were to the west. They must not have realized people would find other towers in the north to satisfy themselves. Nor do I think they realized that people would jump on clue 5 to mean Fairview when I think they just meant the State Fair. And all the times they used the word well. Its kind of ironic, What mainly sent people to Newell last year was a misinterpretation of the use of the words "well" and "new" in the same phrase. This year, I think people misinterpreted the clues again (including "triad newell" in my opinion), only this time, all the misinterpretations just sent them to the right park even faster!
JOE!
So what was Clue 6 supposed to mean? You brought up some good points.
That's what bugs me. SSSSSOOOOO many "news" and "wells." And a plethora
o'"fairs." Like over kill - to get folks there.
But, I'm rotten at this, and Newell's as good'a place as any!
So where does everybody think it is?!?!
Clue 7 gives us 4 things that the medallion is hiddden 'somewhere in between'. Still a large area.
I think clue 6 would read this way:
A well trained eye (an eye that sees a lot of trains, again trying to be clever) is one reason why a good (treasure) hunter stays on the attack (bizarre phrase that I can only assume was meant to rhyme with track). This is a lesson you need to apply (trains are something you should look for when hunting) if you want to be on the right track (be on the right trail, but also a reference to train track)
Xactly, Allison!
Has anybody seen my MOJO?
I just can't go from last year's clues, and Chair-O-Key's (DAMN! They were HARD!!!) to this year's that serve you the park on a silver platter.
Its also my vague and probably vain hope that well trained eye means you can see the medallion if you look carefully, and that you won't have to dig in the snow, but probably not.
Allison, that's EVERY DIGGER'S hope! *NOT* just yours! :) I'm hoping I yust
trip over it! :)
I agree green, and that's why I talked myself out of Newell for a while when it seemed obvious enough, but now the evidence seems to be overwhelming. I don't know if they're in a rush to get it over with (maybe don't want the park destroyed by too many days of digging?) or if they just have it hidden in such a hard to get to place that they think it will take us 6 days to find it.
My 1st posting( I finally figured out how to logon and post a message) I followed the Water Cooler messages last year, and AW was always on the mark with his interpretation of clues. I'd trust him this again this time. But, can we eliminate Highland altogether with it's disc golf today and clue 1sort of refering to it? Was at NP yesterday and all the clues did seem to fit, though.
You can never put faith in a park just because it fits one clue. I had a spot in Phalen nailed perfectly through the first four clues. But then it didn't fit the others so I had to give up on it. I don;t think Highland fits the clues well enough, or if you could make it fit them it wouldn't fit like Newell does.
Oh, gods... Allison, wouldn't an automobile be a "machine"????
