There is no such thing as Ravioli Park is there? Or Boyardee St. - Is someone making that up? Anyway ... thanks to whoever said to click on the number that is underlined to refresh the page. Wow - does that help! I was hitting refresh, and sometime went back a page and then forward - sometimes .... anyway thanks. I gotta get out and at least look a bit this year. So tonight it will be downtown since this is where I live. See you later or tomorrow.

"No university class will ever teach you what LSD can." -- an anonymous writer to the mn daily's network column.

I'm the one who wrote that its the space tower not needle around 2 this afternoon.

I'm still convinced that the "well-trained eye" refers to looking at a well (hand-operated pump/drinking fountain), either from the medallion spot, or from a tree or something similar with the medallion lying on a line between it and the well.

If you add "eye" to the equation, "Well-trained eye" can be anagramed into "Yet I Read Newell".

Lori- Swede Hollow:

Take 7th (or Arcade if you want) south. Just a couple blocks before Mounds is Margaret. Turn right. Keep going. You'll run into the park. From there you can sort of follow the streets that border the park around it.

It's maybe not the most direct way, but probably the easiest to explain.

clue in #5, opposite of cloudy and foul = fair and opposite of extract = pierce

fair(view) and pierce(butler) intersect at the corner of newell park

then throw in the anagram from clue 6 well-trained (which shouldnt be spelled that way) ----> tri-ad-newell (reminiscent to chair-o-key in 199-)

No, actually I had a headache and went to lie down for a while but as for my theory, it still seems attack is an odd word to use. Some theories I came up with was that attack meant the Soo Line, or that it referred to the Battle of Midway, but I didn't think either of those were sufficiently plausible. Then I thought, maybe they're not trying to tell you the exact location with each clue. Maybe its just meant to say there are train tracks visible from the park.

Let me just sit down and relax a little bit here guys because I'm on a roll baby!!

I'll never forget last year at CONWAY on the last night when the throngs were pickin away!!

All of a sudden the clue came out and the whole PARK made a shift towards the HOCKEY RINKS!

I swear that it was exactly the same DEJA VU as when they were chasing FRANKENSTEIN through the streets with lamps, picks and shovels!

That was a great night for the EAST SIDE!!

I'm starting to think it really might be Newell, but if so, they didn't make it very hard to tell that. I was thinking Iris, but you can't actually see Fairview or the train tracks from there, even though they are close by.

    MushieW - 10:58pm Jan 28, 2000 CST (#7317 of 28288) Mark Reply

You don't always have to see everything Allison...some clues just lead you to the area.... My sister scoped out Newell tonight and she feels good about it too. :-)

This is one of my favorite treasure hunting jokes:

A blonde wanted to go treasure hunting. She'd seen many books on the subject, and finally, after getting all the necessary "tools" together, she made for the nearest frozen lake. After positioning her comfy footstool, she started to chop the ice Suddenly---from the sky---a voice boomed, "THERE is no TREASURE UNDER THE ICE!" Startled, the blond moved further down the ice, poured a Thermos of cappuccino, and began to chop yet another hole. Again, from the heavens, the voice bellowed, ""THERE is no TREASURE UNDER THE ICE!" The Blond, now quite worried, moved way down to the opposite end of the ice, set up her stool, and tried again to chop her hole. The voice came once more. ""THERE is no TREASURE UNDER THE ICE!"

She stopped, looked skyward, and said, "Is that you, Lord?" The voice replied, "No, this is the Manager of the Ice Rink!"

I know last year you could see everything they mentioned. I have a theory though that this entire hunt was designed just to frame Newell when another park is the guilty one.

    cover more ground quickly :)

Of course we don't take off work, Step. We sit in our offices (some of the less fortunate people live in cube farms though), and chat here at the Cooler :-) How else do you think we get 3000 posts a day? Then there are those people, such as yourself, who live in classroom farms. Of course, being only the start of the semester, your class time is expendable. The rest of us need to pay off credit card bills that are just starting to show up from Christmas :-)
