In case everyone (Pie & Shoveler) have forgotten this board is used to discuss the medallion hunt. If ya'll want to jab at each other go somewhere else.
There is a St. Ignatious, I think. I don't know about the spelling. The rock is igneous.
Pie you freaked my self OUT. Then I had this strange wave of deja vu... and then ... I remembered that happened last year. Does anyone know what's up with the 24 hour watch of the medallion? Someone told me that and I noticed an RV parked at Newell. A suspicious red pickup at Mounds. Any info on that?
actually come to think of it I do believe it is igneous. Ignatious I believe is the first name of Ignatious Loyola.
IT IS NOT AT NEWELL

conway is not a park...conway is a rec center or a playground...but they refered to it as a park...as is edgecumb a playground not a park
a well trained eye is also a marksmen terry
thanks for your help...I figured it out.
That RV is always where the medallion is. They are long time hunters...if that's the same one.
thanks for your help...I figured it out.
This is the last I'm going to talk about this
SHOVELER!
I made several generous offers and all were refused! That's it!
I even offered double or nothing and the spread against the RAMS!!
PIE SAYS leave it now, or take your shovel and all of your odd sized ice chunks and grab them all together and shove them up your CANDY A$$!
Now, Leave it at that or deal with the wrath of my
followers!!
Some times it is a van
Here you go star

where is "The Rock" this year or is he under a new name???
Hey what do all of you think of the word "rapscallion"
Long-time hunters, eh?
I got excited for a minute. Do you think someone does keep watch though?
Has there ever been a brawl over the medallion?
its wrapped in an onion!
Rapscallion meant Phalen for me. In the beginning, that is. Phalen committed the 1st murder in MN and then fled west. I thought I was onto something until Newell bit my curiosity bug.
well, I'd best be off to dance line practice...then to my basketball game! I hafta run!
Sorry yall, I had to swat a fly. Sorry Shoveler no
offense intended!!
Someone please give me clue by clue why at NEWELL!
Conway is not just a playground but a small park to the EAST!!
Thanks Vegas Your like a slot not
I sure would like to be sittin nest to the SERVER
tonight at about 11: 20, just to say I experienced it!
It might get some GOOD VIBES going!
Maybe I could sit on it!!!

Wheres Spa Collar park???
The Rock is under a new name and that would be me
Well, finally finished through
slogging - in between a couple of distractions....
I'm still leaning toward Swede Hollow. Don't have any more reasons for it
than most of the others, but something in my gut tells me it's worth a looksie.
And, btw, according to the plaque there, none other than Phalen was its
first settler. Hmmmm.
Newell seems very promising. Seems almost too coincidental, to have a
reference to "butler" (will serve to help you) in one clue and "pierce"
(well-trained = Hawkeye) in another...
I've got to get dinner put together tonight, and I'd best do it while the
kids are getting along well, to some extent. Need everyone to wish me luck so I
don't have another night like last with my infant. Five or six hours of non-stop
screaming.....don't know if I can take that again.
Mac man! What exactly are you talkin about!
So what are the latest thoughts? Still stuck on Newell?
We were just at Newell...about 4:30 PM a group of girlscouts and their parents said they found it.
I saw the coin from 15 feet away...shiny sky blue in color...hidden in a plastic bubblegum container...hot pink in color...taped to the outside were cutouts of the snowman from the PP.
I think its a fake (poor girlscouts) they woud deserve it.
The location was in the leaves (RELIEF) under a Picnic shelter just of the parking lot on the North side of the park...
what is everyones thoughts on this.
Isnt it 2 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick and translucent blue?? Say it ain't so Mac!
Have any of you had any problems getting to the cooler? I keep getting this message that says that the web crossing server has moved or is down for repairs.
Isnt it 2 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch thick and translucent blue?? Say it ain't so Mac!
From 10 feet it didn't appear translucent...if this is a hoax there are three carloads of victims most under age 12.
I've been at Newell three times and have been thru those leaves - can't believe it would have been there.
Shiny blue sounds fishy.
I gave one of the mothers my cell phone number...she said she would call one way or the other.
LLKisses : I have been gtting that also
How long ago did this happen Mac?
I agree...seems to easy...seemed to blue, but I have only seen pictures/drawings in the paper. They would not let me examine it closer due to fear of losing it.
At 4:30 DUHHHHH
4:30 PM or so
HOAX!
I HOPE!
Oops, sorry missed that in your previous post.
yeah he wants us to stop looking so he can find it
I hope so to PIE...if it isn't...its a good group to find it.
Clarks whered ya go?
I just called the PP hotline. The message still says the hunt is on. However, they may not have had time to change it yet, if this was the real find.
I wouldn't B.S. the cooler crew...I only stated what I saw...I too think its a little fishy. Especially with PP cutouts taped to the outside of the container
say HOAX. it is too obvious to be in the shelter
damned italics
Things are only obvious in hind sight...especially with the hunt
I so hope that it is a hoax. That would be so unfair. I would be upset.
Clue #1 obviously says in our hunt through the snow. Leaves don't cut it for me. I say someone is playing a mean trick on those little girl scouts. And there would not be any cutouts from the paper, just the container.
Repeat of #6630
The number to call is (651-228-5464) and as of 5:10 the hunt was still on.

I do believe mac though! It upsets me that there was a fake out there though, think of the looks on those little girls faces:(
what am I saying I want the blue puck! Hope its a fake(kinda)
I'm still waiting for the mother to call...I'll update if/when I hear anything.
mac, she may be too upset to call you. She has some explaining to do to those girls who are already dreaming of the barbies they can buy
MAC MAN What's your GUT??!!
MAC MAN Do you know this lady?
Any body know where you can buy some tar and feathers?
My gut says HOAX...
Clippings from the paper taped to the outside (I actually held the container)
Coin seemed too dark...
Another young hunter said he was up there at 10am going through the leaves.
two questions for you all...we've been out all day. 1) could 'ivy' refer to ivy tower or ivory tower??? Several parks near Ivy street. Just a thought.
Super HUGE BRONCO JANE (JOE) HERE, for the gut feeling it's a HOAX!
It's funny how I warned about it 30 minutes prior!
Talkin about a little ESP, HUH! FREAKY!!!
Must be FREAKY FRIDAY!!
The group was awfully excited and sincere...as I said the majority were 12 years old...No I don't know her...but she said she'd call.
Step off Pie.
PIE Now you are evil!
This is tense.... I think I am gonna wet myself if I don't get some answers soon.
#2, looked up 'ark' and at the end of the definitions said 'shelter or refuge', as in Noah's ark, a refuge from the rain (or more accurately the flood!) Ark-Wright Park anybody????
This is tense.... I think I am gonna wet myself if I don't get some answers soon.
Just Drove past Newell park on way home from work. Campfire goin, about 17 cars and 30 people out there, mostly talking, still plenty of undug ground. Top 3 parks: Battle Creek Newell Hidden Falls Longshot: Phalen :)
IT IS NOT AT NEWELL
Folks, we're dealing with a serious situation here. I don't feel like pondering park possibilities until we get this thing resolved.
Who thinks that it is Battle Creek and why?
MAC! Have you heard anything? I am dyin here.
Moms on the phone says its a hoax.
I am SO tense. I need to find out !
Pie, are you single?
I was wondering what the 666 on the back of my
head meant!!!
DAVE SEVERS his head:
Where are you coming from?!! Outer space?
Poor girls, but OOOOOOOHHHH YAAAAAAAAHHHHH!
Now I just want to make it not Newell. I want it to be a hoax. I know that is mean but man I've been draggin my but out every day and night trying to find this thing and I at the very least want someone to find it that has been doing the same.
It was a lucky charms coin
THE HUNT IS ON
Uh, yeah.... Pie. My question was a hoax too.
Face.
WELL, ARE YA ???? :)
This can't be happening, can it???
I am so happy
The girlscouts are on line and watching...look for an official comment from them in just a bit.
Mom was having trouble registering...I think I got her through it
Now back to the real stuff. Who thinks it's at Battle Creek and why?
Why don't you sit on my SERVER!!
I don't want to pat myself on the back TOO hard, but, of course I called it
again!!
That's why my VIBES are HOLLOW and filled with SWEDE!
MacGrove Man you are so retarded. Why did you have to play with us this whole time. Nice try there bub
any comments on posts #6640 and 6647????
sorry to the girls
While hoaxes such as this don't happen every year, many
times a year someone says they've found it when they've really not.
Never believe itzz been found until MomP says it has.
I can't believe the duplicity of some folks. I only hope they meant the hoax
as a prank against a friend and that their character isn't so base that they
don't feel some remorse.
Pie, why are you screaming at everyone? Chill out, dork.
Battle Creek was officially taken off the A list
earlier today! There's nothing there that adds up like the other 2!
I was just wondering. Calm yourself there Pie. You seriously need to chill out.
h
Hey...dn't look down on me...I was only reporting exactly what I saw!!!!
I thought perhaps the crew liked realtime updates!
hi
It's not screaming, it's my way to identify
certain spots on fast moving boards without referencing the #'s!
And chill SLOT LOSER, I don't think you want to pick it with me BABY!!
No kidding, Pie. You need to go lie down.
Are you a man?
We do, Mac. You did the rite thing. Stay calm and ignore folks.
Well they charge us 3 bucks for a box of their stupid cookies, and then harass us by ringing our door bell at all hours. I still feel bad
Mac thanks for the scare. I think that we needed it. I know where you're coming from and I would have done the same.
Thanks for the rapscallion clearification I'm gonna find it
peace out
P.S. The WIZARDS Know Where it is
Pie.... really. No one's picking anyone. Especially not you.
Pie...get a clue....
Howdeeeee.... sooooo does everyone think the training and the right track in clue 6 is a RR (train) track? Or does it pertain to training as in athletes training and a track as in track & field?? :))
MAC MAN:
This wasn't a snow job now was it!!
And VEGAS EMBRYO, Don't make it worse by telling me what to do!

Pie, just stop.
Pie: Instead of yellin try coming up with something original....
Pie: Your useless....
Pie, stop embarassing yourself.
All I can say is I hope PIE stays on the webboard while we are out looking for it, better to have (it) here, than to have to deal with this creature in person :) heh
Why are people thinking Hidden Falls...???
Pie, stop embarassing yourself.
Pie: Your useless....
Pie, stop embarassing yourself.
Enough about PIE...
Pie, stop embarassing yourself.

She wouldn't know anyway!

Who was still thinking Hidden Falls...and why?
Phalen. I am still positive it is there
pie uses uswest.net :) right pie, and is a dirtyone
Yeah no kidding. Pie sucks. I atill think it's in Newell. Pie smells. And the clue tonight should point us to the exact -go away Pie- location.
I think Pie was one of the Girl Scouts
Artemis... I'm right with you, Baby. Six for Six! :)
Yeah no kidding. Pie sucks. I atill think it's in Newell. Pie smells. And the clue tonight should point us to the exact -go away Pie- location.
I think Pie was one of the Girl Scouts
LOL @ Vegas
Im just keeping my options open on Hidden Falls cause in clue four with the SWRA as the first letters, SouthWestRegionalArea, and there is really only one park there. (excluding Crosby Farm). You really cant say it isnt somewhere yet, because they have either been so vague or there is more to the clues than i think we are seeing :) thats not to say it couldnt be one of still many many parks, ill post my list of all parks by size in a sec . LOL@ VegasBAby
If people like the track idea what about the X-country ski thing that they have at Phalen?
I don't get my undies in a bundle like yall and
yall need to grow up and get down to business!!
I haven't posted like that VEGAS CRY BABY and I really don't mind if you do!
It makes for good reference as long as you have something constructive to say

I've been seriously trying to help with alot of good thoughts and hard work!
So knock it off and let me focus on the job at hand!!
Go back to previous posts and you'll see I'm here with good
intentions!!!
Hi gang. Everytime I tried to slog last night, the board was down. Man, I don't even know what theories are running around. Scary. Anyone want to give me the Cliff Notes version of the good ideas?
Plaese people lets stay on the topic. In case you all forgot it the hunt for the medallion.
artemis - what do you get out of this last clue, that would say its at phalen, because i think its else where.
Sue, people still think Newell, Phalen, Swede Hallow
Dave are all of those parks located within St. Paul city limits?
Hay, SueBee! I'm thinking six for six in favor o'Phalen.
I'm kind'a the lone duck on that... But thass otay!
would someone please post that site with the pictures, last time i checked it out i was using a modem :(
Yes, they are all official st. paul parks, i did the research couple years back, the are official according to st. paul public parks :)
artemis and green -- i am still w/ you on Phalen....what did you get out of clue 6?
SueBee, no clue....everyone is stumped. Think it may come down to the wire. This is the "New Millenium" so who knows where they may hide it.
wizard, what is ment by rapscallion?
Maybe its in a "new" park, or they got a new person to hide it, or maybe it's in a "new" form??? Who the hell knows! Though it is fun thinkin up possiblities!
people that keep saying Swede Hollow park, i went there last year on like clue 3/4, and i hope you realize how small this park actually is. It is basically a scenic overlook , which is on a dangerously steep hill for kiddies to be near, i can assure you they wouldnt put it there :)
The majority of the land associated with the park on the map is the steep hill itself.
SueBee whats up? Well funny feeling about this 6 clue. It says well trained with a - between the words and that - is not supposed to be there. And last year they had us going to Newell until the last few clues and now its saying to be well-trained.
OK one more time, but with more detail.
What does anyone think of Arlington/Arkwright?
Clue#2: pace, chase, ace = racing, chasing and winner, Clue #1: Cavort = prancing as in horse
SO horse racing = Arlington horse track
Clue#4: gain relief from the rain = by looking up "ARK" in the dictionary it is a shelter from the rain, as I Noah’s Ark
Clue #4: also has Well = which could mean, "right "
SO PUT CLUE 1, 2 and 4: together you get Arlington/Arkwright Park
Also Clue #3: A tower or two should come in view
At night you can see two radio towers to the north,
or if you look through the trees from Ivy street which runs into the park you can see a tower.
So Ivy tower and a Tower comes into view through the trees.
Clue #6: there is a railroad track near by, the munger trail.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? ANYONE OUT THERE HELP!!!!!!!

StepDog, and all....A well trained eye? "Archery"..."hunter".. Isnt there an archery practice range at the north end of Lake Phalen? between Keller Lake and Phalen?

When #6 came out, I gave up on Phalen as I could *not* get
it to fit. But then I got an idea 'bout the Gateway Trail - part of the Wm.
Munger Trail that goes on the old Soo(Bee) Line. In fact... Oh, never mind.
Anyway, went out there 2day and was ssssssooooo disappointed! Figured, "Damn!
I made the clue fit the park!" But I kept driving around...
And had one of those moments that makes you so weak you almost lose control
o'your bladder. Thank gods I was in the car else I'd have fallen in a heap. And
I looked around me... And almost passed out. I could NOT believe my eyes!
Did some more driving to a different area for a look-see. And almost cried. I
could not believe it. No stretching, nothing.
Clear as a bell! Fit like a glove.
I shook the entire way home.

I know the popular wisdom is "Never again at Mounds"...but does anyone like Mounds? Cruised through today and it looked good...was out at Newell for about an hour...just doesn't look/feel right...I was totally with Phalen until clue #6...but I can't make that one work enough...I hope tonight's helps nail it down...but I kind of like Mounds at the moment...anyone else?
Green, what are you talking about? Been to Phalen too, but I never got that feeling.
Sorry. Meant to say I was disappointed because the Gateway/Munger Trial runs
right thru Keller, north o'Frost. No way MomP'd use that as a clue.
Rapscallion: A rascal; a good-for-nothing
fellow.
Searcher, dont mean to rain on your parade, but think it's not that complicated a meaning. Good ideas, but doubt they would go into that deep of detail. Good Noodling though..
Not mounds and not arlington and arkwright possibly phalen everything fits in and if you look close enough it tells you where it is
You have to look closely to all the clues and then boom it hits you
What do mean? They were simple and straight forward thinking!
Searcher 2:
Sorry, but no bananas!!!
no they were crazy but, interesting searcher 2
"A well-trained eye is one reason why a good hunter stays
on the right track."
An un-trained (unknowing) eye's gonna pick the wrong track!
As I said, there are many different "tracks" at Phalen.
And #6 wants you to be able to see *this* particular one. Just like you gotta
see the towers.
We've now two clues for sighting, lining up.
And directions have been nailed down. At least three, anyway.
Man, if it's in a park as big as Phalen, you'd think they'd have given us the park name by now, no? I bet we get it tonight.
Kiwi you think that it could be at Phalen now? When we went there you didn't think so.
So Green...does that mean you don't think it's Phalen?
so what's the deal with Phallen?
Searcher, I think you have to read the clues generally, more than one word at a time. That is to say you can't just pick out certain words and forget the rest. Looking at last year's clue, only once did a single word have a double meaning (orient, hinting it was on the east side)
and because it's Friday, I'm staying up!
SueBee, in my opinion, they've given us the name o'the park not once, but
twice, in Clue #1.
Oh well, back to the think tank!
Thanks a bunch.
I gotta go print out all the clues. BRB
I didn't say it was for sure phalen but, maybe so just look at the clues and you will figure out what I mean LLKisses
Rapscallion: A rascal; a good-for-nothing fellow.
Swede HOLLOW has been known for a long time as a hangout for the
Rapscallions!
After hearing green I'm ready to put PHALEN back to #3 on the "A"
list!
Hello Kiwi?????
At phalen there setting up a race track does that help anyone out.
Could someone please repost the website with the pictures www.medallionhunt.............. Please, thank You
That's Clue #2, High. Not #6.
And Clue #2 izz the water clue everbuddy was waiting for...
Geez...people aren't saying much this year.
Phalen is FAILING fast!
I took a little trip to Phalen and there were people all over diggin' by the pavilion and down in that area right behind the ice castle statue.
"A well trained eye is one reason why a good hunter stays on the attack" Does it not strike anyone that this sentence doesn't make any sense? My guess is it must have another meaning and track may be just a word to rhyme, but I think line 2 is the significant one.
clue #2 has nothing to do with water at all what are you smokin?
www.treasurehunt.8m.com
Mom, "clear" your evening. :> You gotta hunt!
Has anyone been out to Iris Park yet. I know it is small, but has anyone actually looked it over to rule it out or in?
My daughter called me and asked to help with the clues, old hand at this(regretfully unsuccessful) but oh so close. Found this board while surfing and think it is great..
In early 80's lived down the street from Newell, spent many hours digging (2-3 feet of snow), finally gave up to get warm, all said it was somewhere else, and lo and behold someone found it there. My take on clues is that is where it is again..keep looking.
Managed to get E & H's Dad to finish putting dinner together. So I'm back at the slogging. Would love to go out tonight, and if #7 points to Phalen or Swede Hollow, I probably will be heading out.
thx green
has anyone gotten or seen the full version of the New Treasure Guide , by Mr. Worthman, and if so how much is it? and is it worth it ? THANX :) peace
here's a stretch, but my Dad thought of this earlier and i
thought it was pretty good:
When he saw hunter and attack he started thinking animals
The lion is the biggest hunter in the animal kingdom....
Then we came up with the St. Paul Lion's Club.
Well, there is a fire pit right in the prime area at Phalen that was donated
by the lions club.
Yes Annette. Iris has been my main park since yesterday afternoon.
Where is IRIS!!
The Treasure Hunter's guide was
$12.
Worth SOOOOOO much more!
Right behind Porky's on University
Available at the former Hungry Mind bookstore on Grand Ave in St. Paul.
the guide is like the BIBLE of hunting season!!!
Iris is in, er, uh Minneapolis. Yea! That's it.
Is snowlifter on?
If you go to that site, it will tell you where you can get it. Or you can contact Guide, and I'm pretty sure he'll send you one after receiving your check and all.
thanx i think you just sold me. did you get yours at hungry mind or tobak? and do you think they'll still have some? Thanks
