Listen you guys #3 tells us it is northern part of stpaul and when your in the correct park youll see the tower or two. #4 shelter and cooking #5 sunny and fair and whatever the med is in #6 means nothing Tell me what is the park that is in the far north of stpaul. I'm been lurking from day one
Me too, sorry to interrupt
Yeah tell me about it
That's okay no one else is talking
I think there is something spelled out in these clues somewhere that says what we need maybe that's what they mean by a well trained eye
Phalen would be the farthest north.
I agree, I believe that maybe a person with a well-trained eye will see that something is spelled or an anagram is present somewhere
no..not really..any thoughts on the park? brr it's damn cold outside
I am reading through these clues and I find that it says in clue #3 that a tower or two should come into view well it doesn't say it is or will come into view it just says should.
I spose depending on where you are you might see one or two but, no guarentees on that.
Here's the kicker...Shortly before this hunt started, the medallion hunt at our school had just ended. They really screwed me on that one. I though for sure it was in the woods by the cross-country ski path and water tower. But alas, it was at the base of the warrior statue right in the middle of campus. They had me diggin' a 40x40 foot trench in the middle of the woods for lack of good clue writing. Perhaps this is why I now have a bias against "tracks" and Highland's water "towers" and an affinity for the anagram statue and the word hunt. Perhaps this is why I'm getting burnt out...back-to-back foul smelling hunts with cloudy minded clue-writers.
what type of towers are we exactly looking for anyways? water- doubt it Radio tower? a building that towers, a tree a building with the name tower. It doesn't really give us much to go on there in my opinion
or we just stink at figuring these things out to
True that.
They aren't being direct in any of these clues as to what park or which parks it could be in. I think that it must be a fairly small one other wise they would of said something by now
WHEN U R AT NEWELL..WHICH IS JUST ON 'FAIRVEIW' OFF PEIRCE BUTLER THERE ARE TWO TOWERS...BUT TO THE WEST.. AND A RAILROAD SWITCH YARD TO THE NORTH..THE FAIR GROUNDS ARE TO THE NORTH I STILL FEEL ITS NEWELL AT HIS POINT BUT TO COLD TO GO OUT)
Yes, I'm with you on that one.
something for us to figure a bigger park anyways. A smaller park makes it easier to find but, harder clues that maybe add to every other park but, if you look at things differently then you can figure how it all fits in with the smaller ones too? Just a thought
who's all still here and pondering this medallion deal?
Me!
#6 is alluding to a track and something else don't know what. A friend of mine used to work in the CIA and is up here from Florida for a couple weeks, he used to dig when he lived in stpaul 20 years ago, this guy is a general into didactics. He'll tune in soon.
I feel like I am talking to myself
I've been exploring that option. What if it's in a small park which is located very close to a larger, well-known park? That would explain their refusal to release the identity of the park, but the clues could still match the larger park to a large degree.
Okay maybe's there's 2 sets of track and you need to be on the right on instead of the left?
I think that is the whole idea dog they are trying to throw people off what choices do we have for small parks
Rice, Irvine, Kellogg, Mears, all downtown what else I have to be missing one or two somewhere?
about 150 of 'em.
Now that I think about it though they all are pretty close to a body of water
Which ones are no where near water say if right now because they haven't said anything about water anyways
Here's a thought what if clue #1 is saying not a park with a golf course near it or in it doesn't that get rid of a couple parks??
Yall need to get some rest for Chrissake!!!
Yall are keeping me up!
I have this software that talks out the words as they come up!
It's pretty funny, I can adjust the tone and make it male or female or make
it sound like a chipmunk!!!
what does holman field have?
Does anyone feel that St. Paul should have made another ice castle or something big to mark the year 2000?
where the heck did you get that software?
Yeah but, you know minnesota anything to save a penny or two
Yall need to get some rest for Chrissake!!!
Yall are keeping me up!
I have this software that talks out the words as they come up!

I've been hunting this 'medallion' thing for 20 years now and have come so close, within 20 - 30 yards and have not been the finder... (but i am not really that old) and i still wonder if they don't just drop it of at a spot at clue ten - tweleve....you know it MUST help sales....
I think i've read all 5,6?? msg but I forgot how big is phalen
goodnight pie... see you tomorrow at Newell????.....
Chipmunk this! Simon, Alvin, Theodore!! Doop, doop, do, do, do doop
I'm still here...just doing some researching on all the parks....
nice one dog
THE ROCK SAYS
"LET PIE SPEAK"
I've narrowed it to 3 starting with first
preference!
1. SWEDE HOLLOW
2. BATTLE CREEK off 61
3. NEWELL
PHALEN isn't out but it is fading fast!!
I'm starting to like you you have a good sense of humor dog not that I didn't before but , you know
I was at battle today and nothing really sparked there
Pie was going to call this on clue #5 what happen? a bloodless hunter attack.
I really think swede hollow is out to. vikings depression thing is just because they didn't do to hot and everyone is mad
was a battle today too.. alot of curiosity but no bit
the big park of Battle Creek is in Maplewood....so it would have to be in the smaller part. When you are in the smaller part...you cannot see any towers or have any clues fit
nope
Near Holman Field= Raspberry (Navy) Island, the Esplanade, Mounds, Lower (Lambert's Landing), Wabasha Terrace, maybe Harriet Island, viewage from Swede Hollow i hear.
I agree with kiwi..no vikings victory...let's move an and battle creek is maplewood...not st.paul
Harriet is out construction there
what about keller?
And it will be a dandy when they're finished. A fine option for next year's hunt...a good chance for promoting the new makeover. Mark my words.
Keller isn't a St. Paul Park I think.
okay if the clues don't start saying something about water the only two parks left are swede hollow and mears
Kiwi, can you argue that claim a little?
There is a lewis park north to does anyone know if that is in the area for the medallion
What do you mean exactly I can argue just about anything but give me an idea
Here's what got me scared earlier. I just remembered this. Around 1:00, I think, Medallion Freak suddenly became convinced that clue 6 only leaves you with 2 parks to choose from. What did he decipher that would lead him to one of these parks while refusing to tell us anything else?
Dog do you mean about the water thing? If you do then I will I have a decent argue for everything I state
and for all the Newell lovers..... http://www.stpaul.gov/depts/parks/userguide/maps.html#phalen look at how far north this park is....
Yes, that might be what he was thinking too.
Mears and swede are the only two that aren't near a body of water on land atleast not too sure about the water towers though
I don't know. I just feel that you may be falling into the trap of picking a park and then working backwards to match a few clues to that park. That will kill you.
and the farthest north one is swede if this is what we conclude at this point
for an even better picture.....
i'm still here..man this web stuff is fun..but you gotta ga to the place to find it...i'm gone...i'm at newell...U??
Well, hopefully they will have a better clue tommorow so we can decide for sure what we can and can't use for parks.
excellent job lifter..i have that exact map in my file..but for those of you that don't..check it out...you kids are all on the right track and i wish u the Best of Luck...i'll see you tomorrow on the turf..and may the best "woman" -digger-win!
Yes. Kiwi, are you a dude or a lady?
pondering......Is it really 4a.m.???
I am a girl
and yourself
I looked at last years clues and they didn't say anything about water till the 9 one so hopefully it will be soon that they decide to give us something to go on
Dog> why do you ask? Just curious at knowing no one has asked that they usually assume male.
I like Phalen a little better than anywhere else right now, but I am concerned about the locked gates, and the St. Paul and Maplewood border in the park.
I am a guy. The thing of it is, everyone has their own digging name and it's hard to picture the person on the other end of the ethernet line. It's funny when who you assumed was a guy is referred to as a she or vice versa.
you don't say much do you? Atleast you haven't just a little something here and there.
Birdie is male....and there are a few others that have somewhat feminie names also.
yeah, Well, I guess I can use my imagination to think of what you look like. What grade are you in?
Who are you talking to Kiwi?
I don't think any of the names are femmie.
Like Allison Wonderland. That's a guy, right? He had me fooled.
I was dogg
Yeah me too I thought girl for sure
I ment I was talking to dogg snowlifter
kiwi..bonus points for strength, integrity and stamina

very interesting...
That's good hide
What is interesting Dogg?
yeah..all i have left to do in my life is find the medallion and then I am done...
Kiwi.....how can that be offensive to anyone.....it must have been meant for some kind of insulting? I'm 22 and its my birthday today.....
Okay...time for me to get some sleep....I'm starting to get that sick feeling in my tummy from being up to long..
I'll have you know I don't believe in internet relationships.

hey 'jeff' good to hear from you...whats the word from the 'diggin side'
Happy Birthday, Lifter. Hope you treat yourself to the gift of one sparkling medallion today. 22 is such a meaningless age, isn't it? What is there at 22, besides medallion hunts? Looking forward to the 40 landmark, I guess.
darn. Okay I'm not a pro at HTML....
I think I am gonna go to bed soon have to be up to early
I just got back from driving a droshky on the wrong side of the road
Interesting development that is. A fine title for a Pioneer Press article. "Boy meets girl during bunk medallion hunt: shared woes bring them together"
I was thinking that same thing only differently

Phalen |
Newell |
hey that wouldn't be a bad thing either
what the hell is that, Lifter?
hey, I'm good looking, lol
GOODNIGHT KIWI....LOL...I HOPE I TALK TO AGAIN SOON
probably his two choices on parks
goodnight hide n seek talk to yeah later maybe see you this weekend if amy wants to do something
those are my 2 picks
what does lol stand for?
This is getting more interesting the earlier it gets in the morning
laugh out loud
and the only reason I have Newell as an option is because of clue #5
People start to get so tired that they start to hit on each other
dog that stands for laugh out loud i think
OK JEFF..SO `WHAT IS A 'dshky'
dogg> I wasn't laughing because really I am ugly and just saying that get what I mean?
AND THAT MEANS.....
LOL
So when you say "I'm good looking" and you lol, that means you're homely?
what are you laughing at snowlifter?
"Laughing Out Loud"
ohh hell no I was just saying that I am not ugly or homley for that matter. I just figured since you thought I was laughing you thought I was ugly and just saying that I am good looking. understand now
some sort of russian cart that has two wheels
I was laughing at your statement earlier...I apologize
ohh
Hi to WABBY,
In case you're wondering what I'm doing up this late, I'm catching-up on reading all the cooler crew clue gossip and reviewing the clues to the Treasure Hunt. YSB Joe
You can never really know who is talking to who and about what unless you put there name in the message to.
you must have been talking about the getting so tired statement huh
I've lol'd twice so far. Once when Allison Wonderland explained the Pace/ace clue. He said we have to realize that to get pace, you have to take away the "p". What does that? A urinal. Maybe the coin is hidden in a urinal cake in a public bathroom. The second lol came when someone used the term "dope slap".
I talked to you bloodless freaks later
Hey we aren't freaks just lacking lots of sleep
you did, Spry.
Hay Hunter.....its morning now...teehehehe...
Okay I am gonna shut up now before I really start talking stupid
Do you feel that lack of sleep can be just as dangerous as beer goggles when hitting on someone?
hey dog Spry will be in the next clue
No I guess that depends
your just around my age and I am desperate at this point. LoL Just kidding.
HI LIFTER = ANY NEWS FROM ANYONE ONE THE MEDALLION SEARCH...PRETTY QUITE SO FAR..THOUGHTS ...IDEAS??

I heard that, Kiwi.

The second map is Newell
very nice snowlifter
Lifter has lost it. Oooh. A volleyball court! Serve!
and for everyone's enjoyment here is also:
Highland Park
Marydale
and Mounds Park
I'M STILL HERE AND I ALSO BELIEVED THE VB COURT "OH MY GOD!"
woops....that's a big map. Sorry
Damn! I feel as if I'm there now.
Damn! I feel as if I'm there now. I can even smell the restrooms
Sorry Schlettdog :) My bad...must be cuz I'm dead tired....
nice pretty small map there
I was trying to emphazie how big Highland is....heheehe....okay so I wasn't :)
well, I am definitly going to bed now goodnight everyone and good luck
Here's the deal. It can be no other. We medallion hunting fanatics all go ape shi* for the first half of the hunt. However, these clues mean little and come time for the really important ones, we are exhausted. We drop like flies from the race and the likes of Aaron Niedorf, or whatever his name was, ends up finding it.
LIFTER...THESE MAPS ARE GREAT...I ALREADY HAVE THEM IN MY FILE...I AM A VERY EXPERIENCED DIGGER...AND THEY MAY SERVE WELL TO OTHERS..AND I DO LIKE YOUR STYLE...DON'T GET ME WRONG..BUT LATER TODAY WHEN LOTS OF 'DIGGERS' ARE CHECKING THE COOLER THE SERVER WILL CRASH WITH THESE TYPES OF DOWN LOADS...OH..BUT I DON'T REALLY KNOW AS I AM NOT A VERY TECH. PERSON
This is why we must set our own pace in this race. The PP knows us well and feels sorry for us.
Absolutely Schlettdog. Nothing will truly make sense till all the peices are together. If you stretched hard enough you could make the clues fit anyone's backyard.
KIWI..LUV U HOPE U R IN BED NOW.. ME 2
I'd feel sorry for us too....
Is it really 5 a.m.? Woe is me....
Yes.
U R RIGHT...KEWL..THANKS!
I'm spendin my day tomorrow diggin up some snow though....My fiancee and I have been trying to marry for the past 4 years...I'm hoping to uncover the puck to finally wed.
O MY - - ALREADY 5 AM - - SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO???
hay hide...who are you talking too? = "U R Right thanxs Kewl"
That would also make a fine PP article. Good luck lifter. And goodnight.
thanks for the token of good luck Schlett Dog.......you have a gnite too :)
LIFTER...WHO IS THERE YOU AND ME AND A 'DOGG' NAMED??
Schlettdog, Hide-N-Seek, and I are the only ones (that I'm aware of)that are still in here....
I'm on my way out though......
5:15 a.m. on Friday, January 28th - I'm out.
PP - I salute you! (a line
from a movie)
Green where are you? I have been searching so many places I can't find everyone? Want to go dig tomorrow need partners!! San Antonio Connection gave me this link. Are you here?
Red, I'm here... Finally. Slept and then slogged.
BRB... gotta make some coffee...
Green:
You still going with your original theories?
I want to change your mind and get you to talk about photo #6. Check it out.
Guide, *no* need to try and change *this* mind... I'm having Crow Benedict
for b'fast! :>
Nice bridge...
you got your towers, shelter, ex-tracts, Viking depression.
Guide, I don't see "Set your own pace and it could make you an ace;
chase=race"
Nor, "Some places to gain relief from the rain will serve - read this well -
you cooking."
And how you gonna get #5 in there... And, "A well-trained hunter stays on the
right track" (*my* take o'#6)?
I'm thinking that park izz stretching things...
I don't know, Guide...
I yust don't know...
GODS! My Pleco just scared the $4!t outta me!!! He was belly up under a
plant, and I thought he was DEAD!!! Went crazy! But he's sucked on to a leaf!!!
A scare like that's not good with so much caffine, nicotine, and too little
rest...
"Vikings depression" works (tho *not* possessive.......) And you could get
"profitable profession" in there, as well as "rapcallion."
But 2, 4, and 5 I can't noodle there...
ATTENTION--ATTENTION--past finders of the treasure!!!! Many people would like to see a group photo for the Treasure Hunter's Guide "Hall of Fame". Please send me an e-mail to see if we can get together at the park. Give me your hunting schedule for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Thanks,
Steve
Battle Creek is pretty hard to beat at this point, second choice Newell
Green:
If you were working off of clear, it seemed to make the most sense to me as well, I don't know if that is saying much however.
Duff, Clear Avenue it was. But there's no way I've been able to get #6 into
Phalen.
Green:
I am with you, couldn't beleive, they fit so well. But in hind sight I can see how they fit a couple of other parks as well. That clear seemed like a slam dunk
Tho, a track is laid for the car race on the lake at Phalen (south) and skis
make tracks in the XCR race on the golf course...
But I think I'm stretching things here.
Good Morning - any good new thoughts this morning?
Well, after slogging my way thru some 800 posts since I signed off last night, I was quite disappointed that no-one mentioned the obvious in clue 6. "A well-trained eye..." tells me that you need to have your eye trained on (looking at) a well. Someone said that's the key to the clue. Could be a hand-pumped well. Nonetheless, I agree that Phalen is falling out of favor.
Green, do you ever sleep?
Sounded like a slam dunk to me, too! After the first four clues!
I'm wondering...
What if #6 says you have to have the correct track/track area in view?
From north o'Clear, up by the ball fields, you can see the north easter edge
o'the golf course...
And south o'Clear in the area that snakes along to the south east toward the
lake, you can see the lake!
I'm wondering...
Ares, I'm taking lessons from a wonderful Cooler Crew
Member, and learning about micro-naps! :)
Actually I slept from 2:30 until 6:00 today.
Man, that - seeing the track for "chase" where if you could be an ace, would
put The Med right bock in the unlocked area o'Phalen.
But couldn't bee. There is no way I'm able to figure these clues out. Like,
what? I became a genius in one year? I ddddoooonnnn'tttttt ttthhhhiiiinnnnkkkk
ssssssoooo!
Green-= do you think Highland and Newll are ruled out?
Logan, yes I do. My take on the clues just doesn't fit. Now watch... One
o'those will be where The Med izz!
Guide, you still around???
You and me both, green (at least about becoming geniuses in a year). Though I am convinced that you'll be looking directly at some sort of well when the medallion is in hand. That's just the way the cluewriter(s) work
Good morning all. Has anyone been to the part of Battle Creek off of 61? I don't know if any of the clues fit because I haven't been there. But I do know that to be a ski jumper (I used to be one and that's what used to be on the battle creek sight off of 61) it takes a hell of alot of training.
What are everyone's thoughts on the latest clue?
Hello am I talking to myself????
Is anyone else in here or what?
