Yep
Hey Kiwi Jake is throwing a fit and I think that he is really tired so I am going to go and I will give you a call when Largee gets home
So I will chat with you all later.
okay
test
Se ya LL...thanks for the insight
test was successful
Clue 4 states read this well and you might obatin a clue. This suggfests that the clue has a hidden meaning and that the obviuos shelter is unlikely.
So... How else do you get relief from the rain... playing indoors, watching TV, raincoats, drainage ditch, ??? any ideas???
Hey does anyone know if someone with the last name rice played for the viks?
hmmm. i just had a thought. the line is: "set your own pace and it could make you an ace." So, something i do (setting my own pace) is going to make me number one(an ace). ??? could that be all that "ace" means? just noodling.

Hey Everyone, remember me from last year. It's great to be back. I am a little late because I couldn't find out how to post a message. What are everyone's thoughts this year? I been hearing alot about Phalen Park
The card and ACE bandage ideas are good, but it seems kind of early for the "what it's in" clue. And as I recall, the wording was " ...make you an ace," so I suppose it's also possible that the "ace" doesn't mean anything other than "make you a winner," but I have to believe it does mean something significant.
Relief from cold digging is had right here at the water cooler
Hopefully this next clue should be good and of importance to give us a good idea of where it is at
"this well" is an anagram for west hill
Is anyone going out tonight
Depends on the clue if LL and myself are
Not wit a shovel...too cold for me...especially this early!
Last year was such a fun hunt! I hope it's the same this year. I still haven't been out yet though
Here's a thought: are there any parks with wells that have plaques on them? As in "read this well."
Logan I forget what your current position is???
You mean where I think it is?
Yes indeed!
I have no idea - I'm going to go up to Linwood in a while to look around
Any reason you are waiting til 10:00
Phalen has a well I believe that is hand pumped but not sure
Just sitting here watching some of my shows
Want to meet there sooner...this is getting slow
To heads are better than one...sometimes
is it possible to be at highland? The two towers would be the water towers. Tbat seems to be the only clue that fits, though
There are also pinic facilities and tennis courts and golf but it doesn't meld very well
I think the golf clue is a new standard 1st clue for those who do not understand the sanctity of the game!
some never get it
I think the golf clue is a new standard 1st clue for those who do not understand the sanctity of the game!
what are everybody's thoughts??
I am signing off till later. Keep on Noodling!
Rice here
Mac are you going to Linwood?
We should find out tonight what Park it's in.
A few thoughts: 1) "placeS to gain relief from the rain" --> Places plural. 2) "will serve to help you" --> "serve" seems unnecessary; the rythm would be better if it weren't there, so it must mean something (don't have any ideas as to what, though). 3) I still say that "read this well" just might mean a plaque on a well or drinking fountain (etc). This is just the sort of word trick the the PP likes to play.
what about langford park?
what are everybody's thoughts??
If the clue reveals the park tonight, I think it will be Highland. If not I'll stick with Palace, or Newell.
Why Palace Tim?
Why couldn't it be Como?
I still think it's rice all the way
where's Langford?
they wouldn't put it in rice....they would have a hell of a time trying to convince crazy medallion hunters that it isn't in the swan ice scupture.....to much damage could be done there
tim the hunter: please explain reasoning for palace. I don't understand it at all, but I'm willing to be convinced...
langford is in the north of st paul it was there like 10 years ago
it isn't a huge park but it is definatley bigger than conway
Rice is a perfect place to put it
Palace is pretty small, and if the clue isn't revealed tonight it will be at a small park. It was just at COMO a few years ago, but I'll keep my options open.
I personally have elimanated como, rice, and harriett and maybe phalen too because of the locked gates.....
for one no one expects it
LLKisses and I explained our reasoning
went out driving tonight , to see if anything would click. Started with mounds, not a soul in sight, no visible towers (except the radio tower) there is the pavillon but no barbeques .. Went to highland, not very many people there either and that one doesn't seem to fit. Last stop Phalen, there is a visible tower there. Also off in the distance can see two radio towers, the ones with red lights. but no one was there either...
I don't think It's Palace nothing fits
I think a lot of people are waiting to start hunting to see if they give away the park tonight...
rice everything fits perfectly
How does chase fit with Newell?
How does cooking work with Langford?
How does it all work with Palace?
how do all the clues fit any park?
Palace is an educated guess on the fact that its small. No one knows for sure yet, so I am just guessing. Although, I wish I had a perfect explanation for any park. Just wait for tonight.
they fit rice
overload, why have you eliminated Harriet, Towers? Holman Field Aces?
But, I guess I could be wrong but it seems so right
no way are they going to put in in rice Kiwi.....
who me?
I think so
So what's the wrod? Any new ideas on Clue 4 since last night?
That's the whole thing no one would think of rice
I'll try this one last time: "read this well" could refer to a plaque or something on a water source (well). Does this make sense to anyone else??! Can I get a witness??
I am not here to cut down anyones guesses cuz it could be anywhere but RICE to me is out of the question just because of all the ice sculptures there....
I was leaning toward Newell anyway. I don't know why anyone jumped on me for sugesting it might be at Palace, it was just an idea.
you have a witness - but where??? That's the question
kid that sounds good to us but we need to find a park that fits that....
yes it could but, does any park have that
kid: sounds like a good theory to me...hmmm...let's see who we can get to go from park to park and read every sign in sight :)
I just wanted to hear your ideads on Palace Tim - Sorry
not me unless you are gonna give me gas money before and after
The only reason I like newell is because so many people wasted so many hours there last year...me being one of them...but who knows...it could still be ANYWHERE!
Kid, sounds good, over the last couple of years there has been a clue that substantially cuts down the part of the park to look in once we find the park. 954 last year
Me too Tim, sorry. Good luck at Newell all you die hards!
Does anyone know of any real truth to the whole maplewood parks thing? I think the part of battle creek that you can see the water towers, and has the pavillon is on the maplewood side. Other than battle park, I think I am out of ideas. Also, did we decide if boreas was st paul, or to the north?
No hurt feelings, we're all kinda anxious and nervous I guess.
Both downtown and north I thought
I would say St Paul, cuz he is just the king of the winds according to wintercarnival mythology
North
And Boreas supposedly means North
Can you see downtown from Cherokee? I know that it was just there, but other than mounds I can't think of any parks where you can actually see downtown.
Linwood
Depends on what park it is in. But I am leaning toward Downtown
THe pavillion at battle creak is on the St. Paul side of the park. In fact the majority of the actual park is in St. Paul. Their are only some walking trails that are in Maplewood.
It could also be at the park of boreas kingdom....when he would spend winters here he would live in and ice palace according to PP mythology..... are they building one this year or maybe the park it was at when it was in all the headlines????
Has highland already been ruled out?
Linwood, is that a park? How can I find that one?
I am leaning toward rice park in downtown
battle creek is run by st paul i think maplewood has given up there rights to the park and it belongs to st paul because so much of it is located in st paul
I can't think of any relief from rain, at rice park, can you? Or something with cooking?
Yes
Medallion: not a chance...Highland is at the top of my leaderboard right now.
Linwood is on St.Clair and Victoria
I have a whole explaination for my theory
I know Harriet Island has been closed for upgrading but does that mean they couldn't hide it there? It's all ready all dug up but maybe the pavillion and stuff have been removed. Anybody know for sure?
Hey Kiwi, why do you think its in Rice?
thats what i though highlander, but everyone is talking about rice (no chance its there, way too much traffic)
ok can anyone tell me how to login under a differnt name this is my husbands name and i want to go on under my name.....HELP!!!!!
I was thinking about that to, harriet island, is it actually considered a park though? It has a pavillion I am sure barbeques, plus towers to view. Thanks logan, I will write that down and try to find it.
Preferences and change the name
do you really wanna know or are you being sarcastic at my thinking
Sandra, you having trouble???
I truly want to know because I have no idea yet where it may be.
Kiwi, if you would share that would be great, i can't think of anything, it is all of what a block in size maybe two?
okay
first of all rice is a park that they haven't ever hid it in
also the tower clue right north of the park there is Landmark Towers
boreas north thats were I get the north for the towers thing
not to put down your idea, but what about all the ice sculptures? Do you think they would do that to the people who carved those?
Kiwi, that park has been severely off limits for as along as I can remember, one year all of the real statues were damaged and it has been a no no ever since. Soo have fun.
I have driven down to Harriet Island and would be suprised if it was there. Tons of construction, I am sure someone would get hurt down there if people started looking. Dangerous
What about ace?
also there is a concession stand there and it has a thing that you can stand under to get away from the rain
the first state bank has a big #1 on it and you can see it from rice
Thanks Duff!
There's a reason they've never hid in Rice Park
cooking part the people from the culinary arts school do the ice sculptures
Well Kiwi your either on to something or your on something.
I do realise this but, It doesn't have to be right in that park
Do you think they would put it in the same park twice? Some of the clues could pertain to conway again.
what do you guys think of Linwood or Newell...both of them had a lot of hype last year do you think PP would hide it there thinking that us hunters would think of it not being there last year???? Just trying to think like PP any ideas?
I have heard a lot of talk about Como. Any thoughts?
maybe underneath the bench in the bus stop where also you can hid fromt the rain
thats a stretch kiwi, cooking to ice sculptures? now youre reaching
yeah well, we all could be wrong
no
It is too risky to put it in Rice. They would have to be WAY to careful about the clues. If a clue so much as gave someone a thought it might be in, around, or under a sculpture I gurantee that the sculpture would be broken, tipped over, or both.
Can you see downtown from NEwell?
LLkisses and I think it's there but, who knows maybe maybe not we all aren't for sure yet and this next clue could prove us wrong or right
I'm going to check out Linwood tonight- MedFreak
no you can't but north of newell you can see the towers from the state fair
anyone going to PP tonight dressed for summer?
Newell is a little park across the street from the ball field where the Saints play and is surrounded by lots of trees. Its tough to see anything from Newell.
the only reason i started thinking about linwood is because i was driving north on 35 and from the freeway you can see a steeple of somesort and to the right of those there are 2 watertowers right next to each other don't know if you can see them from the park tho thats the only problem....but i know that you can see the schmidt smokestack from there
you know there is always a few people who think differently and that gcould be a good thing to open up minds and maybe then boom everything will fit in place even if its not the park and a different one .
just a message to green, i saw she was pretty upset about not getting the paper.. But the clipped clues don't have to come from the paper, it said they could be photocopies or from the internet..
You can see Schmidts and there is a Highrise down on Montreal that you can see from Linwood
hey jeloba is that tonight??? I thought it was Thursay
Looking out the window, there is no way that it's in Harriet. The consruction company would not want people climbing on equipment, etc.
or possibility of someone stealing something
Sorry mf you are right, thursday. So are you going dressed for summer tomorrow night? I could use a vacation..
I'll be there!
I could use $10,000. LOL
me and my husband definately are going we need to get away!!!!!!
well I am gonna go and chat see you guys later good luck
Jeloba - I didn't realize you could print them off the Internet. That's cool!
and i never did get my honey moon........
Take care Kiwi.
you to
I would drag mine with me , but someone needs to watch the kids.. Maybe will have to dress the kids for summer and bring them with, they don't have to get up on fridayl...
Jeloba where did you read that you can use the clues from the internet
so has everyone elimenated phalen? I don't hear to much talk about there.....and if so why?
It was in the paper one of these days, Hold on I will go find it, to mf I never did get my honeymoon either, maybe this will be our chance !
I think its at Como.
okay it was a big blurb... It says, no purchase necessary to win. Photcopies, handwritten and/or online print outs of the published clues will be accepted.
Hard to eliminate any of the large parks, Como, Phalen, Highland, or Mounds, at this point
Dont eliminate Phalen,(or Gervais?) can see the radio towers from the island park next to hwy 61
And you married these fellows anyway? Hmmmm...
Thanks what day was it
there are a couple of shelters, and cooking areas.? Hmmmm
Anyone considered Hillcrest?
Well I know for me , we have already been together for 6 years, 2 kids, never had any money to get married until this year... So now happily married without the proper honeymoon... Going to Georgia in March, but are taking the kids with they are so excited to go see the ocean, that is all they talk about on a daily basis...
I like Como because you should stay away from where golfers cavort and the picnic area is on the opposite side of the park, it has grills, and shelters to get out of the rain. Any thoughts?
by the way, the radio towers are to the "north"
has anyone thought that some of these cluse could be the road that it is on or something...they do that alot.....
Logan, I think it had to have been saturday or friday.. I am not sure. it has in big letters win up to 10,000.00 clues begin sunday jan 23rd. do you have a fax? I can fax to you tomorrow from work?
It doesn't have to be in ST. Paul, anywhere in RAMSEY COUNTY!
What about that park off of 694 and dale where they water ski!
That is a good idea mf they did that last year... Know of any viking drives?
anyone else still think that Highland is the front runner?
But the paper said specifically st paul.. Not ramsey county
That's alright Jeloba- I'll just save them.
a new obsession, a profitable profession... hmmm sounds like references to ace ventura
Jeloba:
Where did it say that!!!
Hey medallion, what is the road just south of Hwy 36 that runs into the park (Gervais) right across from Keller Golf course?
Where did it say what?
that is highway 61 in maplewood..
Clue #1 To a park in St. Paul must go.
or you must go....
That it's in ST.PAUL and not RAMSEY COUNTY!!!
I'm back from Linwood and Palace...
the first clue..
Vikes Fan - I'm with you on that...Highland is definitely a front runner in my book.
where is tower drive?
And so MacGrove man, how are reports from the field?
oh i think its woodbury never mind
did you see anything to relate to the clues?
hey, anyone have any ideas where the medallion could be in Highland?
oh! sorry!
anyone interested in a statue of a viking wearing a cape south of a church with 2 towers?
We're not actually going to know where until at least this weekend.
PIE...Clue #1 definitely says "To a park in St. Paul you must go."
hey, anyone have any ideas where the medallion could be in Highland?
Freak--that's in Woodbury. Washington County. Lots of towers. Just of I-94.
are there any towers in view anywhere from como??
hey ex....whatcha talking about???
hey excavating stud, you were saying that earlier when I was reading this at work at about 3:30// I guess you decided to still not share
We're not actually going to know where until at least this weekend.
Tower Rd or St. is near Conway - just a little street a few block east.
mf he was talking about that earlier, go back to the posts from this afternoon...
do you think that they would put it in como? with all the winter activities going on tehre?
that is a good thought leelabell, and there is a spot to get out from the rain,
Did you see anything MacGrove
Both Linwood and Palace are quiet...no hunters.

there is such a place the statue is of a guy named Lief like in relief he discovered america in 1000AD
hey, anyone have any ideas about highland? anyone?
It was just in Como a few years ago. Cherokee two years ago. Conway last year.
Realtime chat at www.medallionhunt.8m.com
profitable profession...Prosperity Ave near phalen?? just noodling...
Good work Pie. Derrick--will your mole be on duty tonight? I can't believe how many people were dissing you yesterday, when you were the only source of the straight dope!
I've been there since monday night and not untill i spoke up this afternoon around 5 was anyone else even there!
The posting is akward tonight
For the record, there is an ad on the lower right corner of page 6B in today's PP for the hunt which specifies that the alternate copies are accepted. However, I believe that those copies are only accepted for the mail-in contest. I'll stick with the originals for good measure as that's what the official medallion hunt rules state.
Good evening, all hunters!!
Did some cruising. Not 100% sold on any *one* park, but time will tell. Don't
hafta mention I was really goin for Phalen last year - at least til the 4th or
5th clue...so my intuition is probably off again!
Guess time will tell.
I'll be in-n-out for a bit - gotta get some dinner...
jeloba, if you're still in here, can you see the Shoreview towers from Phalen during the day, or only when they're illuminated at night?
Any prelims E & H Mom
There was a man at Mounds today poking around the garbage cans, etc.
Anyone find it interesting that the medallion was at Como in 1980...then 1990...now what about 2000?
I thnk she has to work, but she will try to get of early she said
just a thought but is a viking not also known as a highlander
RVCrew...what is your take on mounds
well if a viking statue and references to govenor "ACE" Ventura don't impress you your not a real treasure hunter
RV: I think that was a bum : )
Hi y'all, the guy who's been talking about the Viking stature, It's in Capital Mall, by the parking meter lot. I was at the hunt in 89' That actually was the year I got the closest to finding it. Was on my way down there knowing it was against the fence, but the person I was driving with got in an accident. I was sooooooo close. And they didn't find it till the next morning. But I was nursing my injuries for weeks. Just made me more determined. Got that close once, I can do it again.
No they are different
what time did the clue come out last night on the PP site??? OH, thanx Dave, I didn't understand it either
that I don't know sorry, we were there when it was dark and they were illuminated... I can't check during the day have to be at work tomorrow.
digby, You're thinking of Scotsmen
scotsmen, I missed something..
Vikings are Scandanavian, Highlanders are Scottish
I'm not sure about Mounds. Feels right right now, but that can change later tonight. And I don't think it was a bum. He has a shovel and a cell phone. : )
I may have to take a trip to Phalen tomorrow afternoon, then. Although I think those towers would be more towards the northwest. If I know Phalen well enough, the meat of the park is on the west side, and the towers would only really be visible from the southern end of the lake.
hello allison!
Medallion, you may be on to something..Prosperity?
Just got back from Highland and Como. Lots of snow yet to be turned over. Trust me its not worth going out until the park is known.
According to the posts at the time, the clue apparently showedd up on PP at 2AM.
It says a tower or two, when we were driving you can also see the tower from Gustavus church( I think that is the church on 61 there ) but again don't know if you could see that during the day, it was also lit up tonight.
the ice palace statue at phalen, with the 2 towers on it are on the west side of the park. What towers are you talking about Ares?
