Hey Green!

The feeling is mutual. I hope the hunt does not progress too fast, because it is going to be difficult to do those midnight digs before this weekend. And they are the greatest!

Crazed digger year after year. My turn this year!!!

Sorry was away making dinner. Well the reference to the Vikes: I think they had two clues that gave the same info, depending on if they won or lost. In St. paul. Not on a golf course, but that doesn't necessarily mean there is no golf course. Pace=racing (phalen) or tennis courts. Ace=flying=airplanes (Highland)Astute=stature(phalen) tower or 2= water towers at highland or the towers on the ice castle statue at phalen. King Boreas tells you, you need to look north to see the towers, thus the treasure is south of the towers. picnic areas with roofs & bbq's. And this if far out but I like it: if you "Read this well" the first letters of #4 unscramble into "wars" but that throws a kink into Phalen or Highland.

Dave,

I don't actually dig in Newell, except for a ritual first turning of the snow. Even last year at the peak of Newell frenzy, I didn't believe it was there. The same goes this year, until I see more evidence. There are plenty of the smaller parks to use in the city, and Newell held the prize in the mid-eighties I think. I still think one of the large parks will be used this year; mostly because there was no snow until right before the hunt.

Drove through Cherokee today...I won't dig there unless I have to. Not at all promising except for pavillions and firepit.

Lots of people today were talking Phalen...

My vote still goes to Mounds Park...stay tuned...

P.S. It's very cold outside!

I like Linwood but don't see where 'Chase' fits in there. What towers can you see from there??

I like Phalen, Last night I could see 1 radio tower all the time, and another in certain parts of the park and a short person would not see the 2nd tower.

Kellogg has Chase reporting accross the street and 2 towers a shelter was set up for WC

patti-- I have a different take on the towers

In clue 2 they use the word "astute" which means clever or cunning. Well, scramble those letters and you come up with "statue".

OK, at Phalen there is a huge ice castle statue that has....2 towers, and you are facing North looking at it.

Just my hunch....

Good Things About Mac(G3's, anyway)

  • A Mac's plug-and-play is much better than that of a PC. Whether it's an external drive or additional memories, you can simply install them without doing anything on the software side.

  • Multimedia support. This used to be Mac's strongest selling point, but PC's are catching up fast. As for now, I get millions of colors on my office G3 and only 24-bit true color on my Pentium 200. There is a visible difference.TOP

Annoy Things About Mac(I wonder if one page is gonna fit)

  • That freaking disk ejection system. You have to either drag a CD/Disk icon into trash or highlight it and do that damn command+E shit. If your system has crashed or something, tough luck, baby. You'll have to find yourself a paper clip and poke into that damn hole. At times like this, I'm reminded of the importance of freedom.

  • Price. I know Apple is lowering their prices for the new products, but a better equipped PC will still cost less. Same thing goes for accessories, Mac is too rich for most people's blood. A top-of-the-line Mac does, in many ways, compete with a Pentium PC. But why pay a fortune for a Mac when you can get a much inexpensive PC with similar or even better performance.

  • Memory management. My all-in-one G3 has 160 MB of ram. You'd thought this is more than you would ever need, right? Hell no! Every time I have Photoshop, Navigator and a BBS client running concurrently, the damn thing complains about shortage of memories. Of course, we all know it can be hidden at any park within St. Paul - we'll know more by the 5th clue; however, I would be pretty shocked to hear it was at Rice Park - where does the clue about rain shelter and cooking fit in there? It would be very unlikely for the medallion to be hidden there especially because of the reasons repeated earlier regarding destruction, etc., of other carnival activities.

Landmark Towers is directly north and across the street from rice now they didn't say that the towers or two had to be a radio or water tower did they. No so there is these buildings that say that they are towers right on them also there is a bus stop with shelter and a concession stand> food and also a thiny ma do to stand under while you wait for your food which would keep you away from the rain.

I had thought of Rice Park for a brief moment b/c of the towers and the Landmark Tower- But think about- there is nowhere to park and the ice sculptures would be destroyed- but then again think about how much $ the city would make off the parking meters

ALSO, THE PAVILLION, THE BARBAQUE PITS, A WALKING/RUNNING PATH ACROSS THE STREET,AND TENNIS COURTS. SO WHAT IF THE MEDALLION WAS THERE TWO YEARS AGO; ALSO IT COULD HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE "SERVICE" AT THE CHEROKEE SIRLION ROOM. Also if they are talking about King Boreas as the King that came from the sky or moon or what ever the only way that you can see sky from Rice park is by looking up. Where as every other park that I know of you can look and not see a huge building in every direction (which could also mean that you see buildings in every direction since King Boreas was the king of all winds.) Another shot in the dark by me.

Hey King! I know you! :-)

Hello everyone. I haven't had any grand ideas since last night. Hopefully tonight's clue will put us in the right park.

how many medallion hunters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

This is frustrating. Things don't seem to add up to a specific park. I do think that "shelter" means just that, and "cooking" refers simply to an outdoor grill or fire pit. This is around the time where they give some general idea of where to look within the park, without giving away the park itself. Sometimes the simplest answer IS the best one. But if "ace" is interpreted as a tennis court, these are generally a good distance from any shelters or grills. I have heard various other theories for "ace," but none of them seem right to me. Any comments on "ace" clue would be appreciated.

tennis courts I don't believe have anything to do with the clue but I think maybe #1 does doesn't ace refer to being the number one in something to or a pilot of some sort

I think to that if we think of ourselves as the medallion the clues are giving us an idea of what it sees around it

Jim Medalfinder - 08:29pm Jan 26, 2000 CST (#2657 of 28288) Mark Reply

Or the medallion could be wrapped in an ACE bandage.
