Perhaps people are getting literal, but that's the fun of sharing! We get to see how other people's minds work in this whole game... there's gotta be something you can pull out of our citywide brainstorm, :)

MacGrove, I know its a stretch. But, you'll find very few postings this early in the game that aren't a stretch. After all, I've seen quite a few clues in the past that were quite a stretch, too. If they can use creativity in hiding and describing, we're probably safe using it in finding and interpreting. :)

Here's a thought... If the clue says, "DON'T be a rapscallion," wouldn't that say, "don't go to Phalen"?????

Yeah, but check this out....

I think they want everyone to think of large towers like water or cellular,, and i also think they want everyone to think "north" for Boreas's direction....

Well I was at Phalen today and they have a huge statue of the Ice castle that was there 10 years back or so...on it there are two towers.

King Boreas (according to legend) lived in the ice castles. And the clue does say "a tower or two SHOULD come into view.

Maybe if you can see the castle statue, you are in the right area.

Also, they use the word "astute" in clue two which means cunning and clever. Well, scramble astute around and you come up with "statue".

Just my opinion.....

agree with the thought that it is in a big park. Highland and Phalen seem to be my two guesses. Highland is my first choice because it contains all the elements mentioned in the clues but they aren't in a close vicinity to each other. Hopefully, tonights clue will narrow it down even more and help us pinpoint the location of the medallion.

steppdogg-well, the tower or two clue really has me set on it because of the observation tower and the two water towers. Plus the ace and race clues lead me to believe that its somewhere on the south side of the park by the track and tennis courts close to the high school. Last night's clue has me confused though because while there are tons of picnic shelters, clubhouses, and grills around, you have to look west in order to see the towers, not north. I'm not sure if i can rule it out yet because it still may be the indentification part of the hunt yet, but my gut feeling still says it's in Highland. Plus, the last time it was in Highland was 6 years ago. It looks too good right now.

From Mounds and Earl...NE Corner Section...Ample Pavillion and Standing Grills...Playground Equipment (later clue?)

Turn to face Downtown (Boreas' direction) which you can't actually see,...depending on where you stand you do see the airport beacon tower ( a tower) or moving slightly you also see the NSP Stack (or two). Tennis courts are on the hill between you and downtown (though I'm not sold on the tennis concept just yet)...and a running path, biking path goes along the bluff right there!

Cosmo Cat - 03:42pm Jan 26, 2000 CST (#2261 of 28288) Mark Reply

Here's my ideas on the clues without naming parks... I think thats what kills people is getting a park in mind and MAKING all the clues fit it... FIRST figure out the clues and then find the park that fits... It's been said before but I had to say it again...

#1 Obviously just a St. Paul park and STAY OFF the golf courses... (although Vikings depression could = Swede Hollow) Oops there I go naming parks already...

#2 Set your own pace... could make you an ace (winner)... into the chase... My feeling is either a Marathon (the St. Paul Marathon) or walking/jogging paths (although those aren't races) if Marathon then we need to figure out the Start/Finish of it and possibly the entire route

#3 I dont think 'tower or two' means TWO TOWERS... i think it means ONE tower and the number TWO, all in view to the North of the park/ hiding spot/ area (North from the King Boreas reference. or towards St. Paul if it's referring to that) i think they split 'tower or two' with "or" because they are far enough apart to not be grouped but also both can narrow the searching field...

#4 I feel like there's something hidden in this one, clueless to it as of now... SWRA came up (South West Regional Area)... other than that I see what everyone else does... Grilling facilities and Picnic SHELTERS

Just one Cats take on these... tear em up or build em up... just do it so it helps everyone else out... Digging sucks... especially 10 miles from the right park...

Steppdogg-I think that could be very valid. At this point, its always good to have a few working ideas so that once the later clues come out, you can narrow it down. As for me though, my gut still says Highland.

It seems as if there are three parks consistently being mentioned over and over - Highland, Phalen and Mounds. Do most people think one of these is the answer? Or, are people still up in the air? I am still really up in the air.

I've said this before, but hear me out again--

The clue says "a tower or two SHOULD come into view."

The word should tells me that towers aren't necessary to pinpoint the park or medallion...

The PP would have said "A tower or two WILL come into view" if it was necessary to look for towers....careful with the wording!

Clue 1: AREA -- In St Paul Not on a golf course

Clue 2: THINGS IN THE PARK-- Running Paths....Tennis Courts (Maybe)

Clue 3: WHAT YOU CAN SEE FROM THE G-SPOT AND WHICH DIRECTION TO FACE--My opinion is face downtown. Boreas realm/HQ is St. Paul...and he will be dethroned in Rice Park. See a tower or two

Clue 4: WHAT IS IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF THE G-SPOT-- Picnic shelters and outdoor grills.

I think it's Phalen:

Clue 2. set your own pace, etc. and Clue 3. look in king boreas' direction : both clues refer to King Boreas ski event at phalen park

Clue 4. 'will serve to help you as you're looking' : there is a serving counter at phalen's picnic pavilion. also, 'gain relief from the rain' and 'really get you cooking' refer to the pavilion.

Just my thoughts!

A treasure hunt following a series of clues throughout LA, where there are five teams (a good team, an evil team, the jock team, a nerd team, and a sorority house team). They travel all across the city in a game designed by fellow student Leon, where each location states a clue leading to another location. All of the teams are fighting to reach the ultimate finish line. It was Michael J. Fox's first movie, and also only the second movie released by Disney to receive a PG rating. It also stars David (American Werewolf in London) Naughton, Stephen (Animal House) Furst, and Eddie (Grease) Deezen.

Oh man, I'm getting into the game SO late this year. I just haven't had the energy to stay up past midnight to hear the discussions. I suppose I'm missing a TON not being in the chat room, right? I have TONS of slogging to do. From what I can gather, the park specific has not been revealed. Maybe tonight. Tow towers to the north of the site, picnic shelters, grills, a walk/running path are what I've gleaned so far. Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but does anyone else think "read this well" might mean it's wrapped in newspaper?? whadda ya think?

Well you have to admit--there is a lot of snow to turn over. Even if someone told me the park right now, I would hesitate to get too excited, unless it was way tiny. Someone has dug a 40' by 40' hole in Newell Park already! Wow.

Fourth Annual (GASP! Has it been THAT long ALREADY?!) Pre-Dig Gig, Sat, Jan 19, 2002 - McGoverns! BE THERE!!!

This is the fourth year for noodling clues at this Web site. For the three years *I've* been here, ittiz been said a billion times, "No "water" clue!"

Me? *I* think there *could* bee water. Maybee they're figuring they don't need to mention it. Too much of a give away (tho, it still could come later...)

We're much more sophisticated with a collective think tank, as this place izz, in the late 90's and into the new century than what folks were back even 20 years ago.

I think, and yust MO, that the clue writers are getting more sophisticated, too. I think ittiz hard to say, "Watch what the clues *don't* say."

Possibly right Green. This is my second year on noodle board, and I have to say that the collective strength of everyone is amazing. When I dig, people seem to exchange handles instead of names. However, I have to knock some parks off (for scouting purposes), and I like eliminating a lot of them for lack of water. It is easy, and efficient. I could see that "doesn't say water" has reached the level of "they will never have it in (choose one maplewood or mounds park) every since that fiasco in ____ (insert year), as well as "it can't be in a park with a golf course, cuz they said stay off golf course"--I will not mention it again, for fear of adding to the cliches!

Logan - 05:36pm Jan 26, 2000 CST (#2405 of 28288) Mark Reply

I guess, in annuder way, don't - like with a park early in the beginning - ASSUME anything on what izz NOT said.

Go strictly with what izz said. Like, whatchew see izz whatchew get. Any given park can have a BILLION clues. Yust because there may be water in/near/around it does *not* mean the Clue Writer *has* to state such.

Know what I mean? Ittiz hard to xplain. Sorry.
