A linguist and a mathematician left the bar after cracking the code....

here's something interesting... shortly after clue 3 last year someone on the cooler said " hey, there's a 954 ruth st. at conway park. If only a person had gone there and stayed within sight of those numbers... However clue 7 said to find a valuable sign and unfortunately for me there was a strip right through the middle of the park where you could read TRUE VALUE hardware. Just a coincidence I guess cause it was never mentioned in the explanations

Great to see all the noodling in here. I still like Newell, has anyone thought about Cherokee. I know it was just there 2 years ago, but i can think of 2 towers you can see from there and possibly line up??

I didn't look that long, but looking to the North, all I saw was Pierce Butler, the train tracks, and lots of trees. Maybe it could be seen from a different part where there were fewer trees, but still, that's just one tower.

if u look in the past years it always seems to point to newell , every year it sucks people in there and then throws them to another park after a few more clues , but who knows maybe it is finally newell this year....

I thought the tower with the lights was the radio tower to the west and the other was the smokestack, also to the west. However, looking in Boreas's direction may simply mean look to a northern park.

How 'bout space needle at MN State Fair grounds Allison? Water Tower at fair grounds. Setting Pace, Race track at Fair grounds? All good for Newell. Not only is Capitol 2-way tower visible to west, but a second Cellular/radio tower one block away as well. Thoughts any way.

Anyone agree with 'tower or two' actually being 'a SINGLE tower' and 'the NUMBER two'??? OR would mean you could see them both from the park/hiding spot/area... meaning maybe they are nearly in the same line of vision but not close enough to guarantee seeing both of them??? Unless theres a tree blocking the second tower im leaning towards looking for the number two and a single tower...

Here guys, check this out, I know people have been leaning away from highland but here is my theory with that clue. Highland has the 2 water towers...when you come up the hill on snelling from W. 7th St. the big blue water tower appears in front of you (to the north) but the 2nd tower is hidden behind the blue one until you drive a little farther down snelling...what do you think?

Predig gig- Saturday, January 19th- McGovern's!

Hello! I'm passing through here on the way to other chores that need to get done. But....

I wanted to share with you all our thoughts as we drove through and walked around some of the parks that we favor at this house.

I haven't ruled any of these parks out yet. There are things in each that could make them THE park this year.

Como - The only drawback is that there are other activities going on in the park for the winter carnival. Otherwise the clues fit...but if nothing is said about the zoo, picnic area or other notable things residing in that park I'd eliminate it. No one had dug up the frog pond yet.

North Dale - Definately in the running. There is even a no golf sign on one of the backstops out there.

Marydale - Worth keeping in mind, but more doubtful in my mind.

Newell - My personal favorite at the moment. For just a few seconds, I thought I was meeting Regalman!

Boreas called St. Paul the Capital (in the legend) so I wonder if the Capital grounds could be it? Are the capital grounds considered a park?

I don't think ace is implying any sort of airport. If it were, I think the clue would tell you to LOOK for an ace instead of saying that YOU could be an ace. My gut feeling is they mean a treasure hunting ace if you can interpret the clues right and set your own pace, though I still don't know what they mean by set your own pace. I suspect however, it's something tricky since you need to be astute.

Here's an early crack at clue three:

It doesn't tell you what park it's at, but WHERE in the park. Or more specifically, what else is in sight from where stallion's medallion is hidden! IF you look in King Boreas's direction from there, you will see a tower or two . . .

The Medallion Hunt can do nothing to the Capitol Mall that Taste of Minnesota does not already do. Also, hunt ends before session, so the "extra security" measures will not be in effect yet. I don't like the Capitol as a hiding spot with these clues, but don't rule it out. The Taste crowd is walking directly on all of the grass, dropping butts, leaving litter, stepping in flowers and hedges, etc. Just a thought.

Medallion Freak--can you make that fit something specific? Looking toward St. Paul is like looking South from Santa's workshop.

I just think that once you are in the right park you will need to look in the direction of St. paul and you will see 2 towers maybe one hidden by the first one if you look from the right spot or maybe just 2 towers total that you can see if looking in the right direction

My Thesaurus shows "ace" as also meaning: champion, star, king, queen, winner, head. Does this mean anything to anyone? Rapscallion could mean a child (a rascal, scamp) - there is a playground downtown in Lowertown near the Galtier Towers, but I also think of the park right near the river which has a walking and bike path side by side "set your own pace". Does anyone know what that park's name is?

I was looking on my map and it seems that Conway Heights Park & Rec has a "N Tower Street" nearby, and from the park you are able to see a large water tower - "a tower or two should come into view"..., and I know this is corny, but when I hear ace, I think of Ace Hardware downtown St. Paul, which is near a park.

Conway was last year, and I think the nearby residents would riot if they had to put up with that mess two years in a row. It was neat diggin' but fairly residential over there and had to be a headache for those nearby.....I will rule out Conway
