GRAET, JUST GREAT!!! With you guys as friends, I sure as hell need no enemies!!! LOL!!!

Really, serioulsy. Rome, I've heard, was not built in a day. Let us not push for too much too soon. This is only our inception. Come next year they may only be three, 12, five... or one of us to carry on. Let's give ourselves credibiltiy. If we have it, others will see it as well. With our PPMCC Chat Room, we'll be able to say in touch with each other, and Casey - or whomever - and will be able to present a cohesive, united front come next year. Let's not step too far this year only to make fools of ourselves next year. Let's be the new quality tradition we know we can be.

:) Edit MessageDelete Message

Now... C, THAT'S an idea!!! We *could* do the volunteer bit in Cooler white, etc. You may have something there!!! We'd make our presence known, in an acceptable way, and get our name out there. Maybe. Then again, the announcers could just say something like, "Who are those weird people in white with PPMCC written everywhere and what does all that jibberish mean?"

BUT, even if they did, we'd still be on record, within the rules lines. Not such a bad thought there, kiddo.

Do they still need vols? Edit MessageDelete Message

Do we know what happened to the buttons? Will we have them for Sunday? Edit MessageDelete Message

greenslvs2 - 11:29pm Feb 6, 1998 CST (#7858 of 8458)

Don't know. Greg's doing his damndest... but a SNAFU or two came up, one of which was reality - work. Let's not press him. He's trying so hard, and even if we get the buttons post Bash, we'll still have the very first ever PPMCC buttons made. Edit MessageDelete Message

From the posts I saw there were a few glitches but I thought he had worked them out with your help. As long as I'm on the list for the button, I don't care if we don't get them until the 4th of July or in time for the hunt next year. It's amazing that he's even trying. And he is in Milwaukee!

If someone had predicted the PPMCC wear, buttons originating in Milwaukee, rehash bash at "11:30" no less, guest book, and reading of special postings a week ago, would anyone have believed it? Edit MessageDelete Message

TL parade volunteer info....

Tuesday's PP Metro "..Organizers need about 60 volunteers (men and women) to carry large snowflakes and victory Vs in the parade, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Sat. Interested adults should gather at the Bremer Building, Seventh Place and Minnesota Street, between 4:30 and 5:30 that evening. For more info, call Roxanne Masanz at 770-7669."

Will try to call her tomorrow a.m. and see if she has received many inquiries. If they have all the people they need, great. If not, maybe the PPMCC can lend a hand to help????? Kind of give our support to other parts of the W.C.

Any thoughts??? Any one interested? Edit MessageDelete Message

now it's quite in the PPMC.... The ever valient and diligent Way Cool Cooler Heads have slowly toddled off to bed... tired from yet another day of seeking... They don't always seek The Med... sometimes they seek that which is in the hearts of others... As they can find a kindred spirit...

But even so, as they slumber tonite... Visions of Meds will dance in their heads... Always next year, always The Hunt... Always... Because...

As long as there is The Hunt there will be Seekers... As long as there is an electronic means of hunting/communicating - there will be Cooler Heads... And they will always seek more than just The Med... As they are more than mere token seekers.

Peace, my friends... Never quit seeking that which is important to you, no matter what it is... Edit MessageDelete Message

Alone in the bar again...Just got back from the Frog Pond, I don't think it's there. I've been aimlessly (sp?) wandering around STP parks this eve like a lost sheep, and the cops didn't like it. Is there a number I can call? Is there help? Will my company pay for it? I can't seem to get the guts up to tear down my blown up Hudson map copy from my office wall. There's a clue in my last sentance. That's it, see ya Sun AM. Edit MessageDelete Message

It'd be great to show others that were not here...a "geneology" of the group online, a MWC family tree. Has someone requested this yet? I'd love it, it would explain a lot to those affected by our obsession. Cheers. Edit MessageDelete Message

Good Mooorrrrnniinnngg!! I've been slogging for a while, now. Signed the guestbook, what a NEAT idea!! I couldn't be here last night, was on a quest of a different nature: take out chinese. My restaurant was a little behind. After 2 hours waiting, had to settle for fast food. Yuck. Got the giant coffee pot, and I've been practicing. Just not used to making 30 cups at a time! I probably should be catching up on my household chores that I've been neglecting the past couple weeks, but find myself helplessly drawn to the cooler!! Edit MessageDelete Message

If anyone wants to participate in the TL parade tonight as a volunteer, here are the facts....

Spoke with the coordinator. She hasn't received many calls, but thinks that people will just show up. It's on a first come first served basis (like the medallion hunt). Said to dress warmly, something the Cooler Heads know how to do:) She also mentioned you had to be an adult..... Any more questions, Roxanne Masanz at 770-7669.

Will be carrying either the snowflakes or Vs (flakes are 2 feet, but Vs are a lot smaller) both are on poles. Snowflakes are lit up, I'm going for the Vs...

When/Where: Inside the Bremer Building, on Minnesota st across from seventh place between 4:30 and 5:30. Just let the parade coordinator there know you want to volunteer. You have to sign a waver and that's it!

Remember, if you go, wear something "PPMCC". If hubby and I don't see you there, see you Sunday am...... Edit MessageDelete Message

Thanks, C, for the info. Good going E&H's Mom!!! I'll cross sugar, coffee and creamer off my list.

I'm outta here to go to work to print The Ice Breakers and go to the store. Hope the hungery mass does not kill me for BUYING potatoe salad... Am also picking up napkins!!! Will bring salt and pepper. And charcol, but I think we'll need more than what I'm bringing...??

I'll just bring anything I see that I think we'll need/could use.

Gotta run!!! Will get on at work as the colour printer takes FOR EVER and I've a slew of 'Breakers to print.

HAIL COOLER HAND LUKE ON THIS, THE EVE OF THE FIRST ANNUAL PPMCC RE-HASH BASH!!!

Hope to see any of you who make it to the parade tonight.....Hubby and I are going to try to volunteer, so we'll hopefully see you Cooler Heads out there:)

Green, for tomorrow, we'll bring more marshmallows (need them for Hot Choc and roasting), some chips and salsa, a "dessert":), water(lots), heavy-duty extension cords and something to grill. Haven't made a list of what everyone else is bringing. Do we need any/more plates,cups,napkins,"store-bought" potato salad (LOL),etc...? Let us know. Hubby will bring camera and tri-pod for group pics.

FYI, if someone gets to park and is missing something (and we don't have it at our house), Grocery store at Smith and Dodd. (South of Annapolis on Smith just a few blks.)

Green assuming you are still stopping by here to fill up on water on way to park ~11:00?

Should be back here tonight after the de-throning:) Or call if you want.

Sorry for such a long one. Tootles..... Edit MessageDelete Message

Greg: You are the greatest!!! Let me know if you need me to run get them, etc., etc., etc.

Eagle: Slog and see what all's coming... Anything you wish to bring would be nice, but it is not necessary.

C/All - I got 24 lbs. of BOUGHT pot-salad; 30 ears of corn... Well, they're kind'a scrawny and we'll have to cut some in 1/2, instead'a thirds; two bags of 'coal; a gallon of milk; a package (the BIG long one - WHITE, natch!!! LOL!) of napkins; and three thingys of salt and pepper. Won't be stopping by as I'm going to fill my platic camping water carriers here and head straight over to get 12 cups'a java going. We could use a "boombox" for some tunes... AND DON'T FORGET DIGGING IMPLEMENTS!!!!!!!! Frisbees, too. We've about three sleds/tobaggans coming. Anybody got (the now outlawed) Jarts? Kites would be fun!!! Bring things to do the 'mellows on!!!!!!

Reid's a LOVE for the group pics!!!! WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!! It will do well... I'm going to start a PPMCC scrap book to help keep track of us over the years.

Drove past your house, C. Wanted to scope out the outlets... A TON, we needn't worry. And... Have a little down time to myself in CP before tomorrow. This is all so overwhelming to me...

So. That's that!

Hi gang! Just back home. How did the parade go? Wish we could have been there, but such is life. How many cooler crew volunteered?

Talked to a former hunter friend of mine today, (former hunter not former friend) told her about all this picnic, buttons, logo-ed wear, etc. etc. Talking about it to someone else, made me realize how unique this whole thing has turned out. She was excited about this too! It's the part that was always missing before.

Her and I used to rehash the clues together. Now there is this whole new group of really COOLER people to figure out clues with, to obsess with, to read more into the clues than what was there with, and to feel empty when it's been found with.

The celebration somehow ties it all together - fills up the empty spots when the medallion hunt is over for another year. Edit MessageDelete Message

greenslvs2 - 09:29pm Feb 7, 1998 CST (#7919 of 8458)

Ter: Pretty niffty this whole coming together of us digging folks, isn't it?

Glad, so very GLAD, to hear that a non-Head is interested in Way Cooler wear, and everything else.

I call tomorrow "bitter-sweet" closure. Maybe, after all, I'll tell how this all came about... but I feel SO SILLY!!!!

But, in a weird way, tomorrow will be like a wake. But a happy one... but yet a way to happily put aside the frenzy we've lived under for two weeks. And do it w/others that have experienced like emotions. See... That's the kicker. We've all gone up and down, up and down, up and down... and down... And we can empathise (sp?).

And we can build steam for.... NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COOLER HEADS *WILL* PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!!! Edit MessageDelete Message

Terry Valentine - 09:41pm Feb 7, 1998 CST (#7920 of 8458)
Read #8268 from CASEY!!!!!!

It's not a wake. It's a celebration unlike any other any where. It's not silly. If it was, would so many people be working to make it happen?

Maybe for COOLER HEADS, there is a special feeling of commraderie(sp). We've probably passed each other - not just this year but others, in a park, in the snow, often stopping to chat with other hunters. Maybe that's what makes actually meeting each other in a celebration of the hunt the right thing to do at the right time.

Steam for next year is a great idea. Steam is warm. We were lucky for the hunt this year with the weather. Don't know if this hunt would have been as much fun if the temperature had been way below zero. Edit MessageDelete Message

Boy have you been a busy beaver:) Still haven't seen anyone reply to the ? of how late do you think this will go on? Just curious. Let it rest. Edit MessageDelete Message

Greg Sax - 10:36pm Feb 7, 1998 CST (#7940 of 8458)

I'd like to think the buttons will be there but I still can't promise that because I haven't heard from my middle man. The fact that he hasn't called me back since this morning means a) all's well and buttons will be there or b) he screwed up and doesn't want to talk about it. He knows how much I've put into this and I don't think he wants to be the one to blow it.

The middle man is my best friend, Laszlo Aranyos. I call him Laci (sounds like "Yahtzee"). He'll be the one bringing them by as well so be nice. He's a bit skeptical about all this -- not the fact that it's happening, but that he doesn't know anyone. He was able to spend about a half an hour online with me when I came home, but there were only a few regulars on at that time. He keeps asking "Is doodledog going to be there?" because that's who was talking the most. Edit MessageDelete Message

greenslvs2 - 10:39pm Feb 7, 1998 CST (#7941 of 8458)

Still... we can hope he shows... but, well... Gas is back up to $1.09. And I'm pretty sure he's a college student or just out - don't you think he sounds like one? And they're really poor. Been there, dun it.

I'm no longer in college. Been out since '92. I'm 27, married, one 3-year-old son, decent job as writer/editor, been at the job in M'waukee just over a year, still renting, in debt up to my just-starting-to-bulge-from-too-much-good-Milwaukee-beer belly.

I think maybe I still sound like a college kid because I like to use the 10-penny words -- like I'm showing off or something. Fact is, I just like to write. The words go down as I think them because I can type like a dickens. Anyway, that's me in a shell. Now that it's quieter I don't mind sharing. It just didn't seem like something I should do when we were trying to figure out "double division." Edit MessageDelete Message

Green, BW, Terry, Greg.....Just back from the de-throning:)

Parade was a blast. We were, as far as I know, the only Cooler Heads volunteering. Got to carry flakes and then run back to do the Vs (they needed more volunteers than showed:( )

If the guy from PP is there tomorrow, want to talk to him about an idea I have..... Kind of tie things together, like the snowflakes and the Vs...

Anyway great to see the Cooler talk is still going on.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure they were either the same person or were friends. Whoever Joe is, I was more amused by his antics than irritated. He certainly had stamina. Expectations. Maybe I've not set this up rite. Maybe they think the PP will be all over us like flies on... Like a lot'a flies, you know. Maybe they dont' like sloppy joes and potatoe salad!!!!! I DON'T KNOW!!!!! Edit MessageDelete Message

Terry Valentine - 12:59am Feb 8, 1998 CST (#8024 of 8458)

The only expectations anyone should have is the opportunity to meet face to face those that have had such an impact on all of us the last couple weeks.

The picnic is merely the vehicle to have that happen. How many winter picnics do people attend anyway? Potato salad and sloppy joes will be just scrumptious with the stuff everyone else will bring.

The PP all over us like flies? It's possible, not a major story, but could be one of those human interest stories.

No one will care. That's not why people are coming. If they want publicity, there are other ways to get it. This is about building friendships and sharing common interests. We don't need publicity for that. We'll solute the Cooler and Casey where ever they are. Edit MessageDelete Message

Plenty of tailgating at Saints games (it's really the only way to go) but hard to get a lot of tix together unless you buy them on group day. I've slept out for them before -- that's how hard they are to get. They go on sale April 18. Check spsaints.com for more details. I've been to about 25 games. I've ALWAYS had a good time. All is now quiet on this eve before rehash
As I wish I could be at the inaugural bash.
But, alas, I am stuck oh so far and away
No coffee, no sloppy joe, no Frito-Lay.
But I'm glad to have made my mark
In the snow at Cherokee Park
With a shovel in the dark
Gnashing like a shark
In ground not bark
Happy as a lark

Hark?
Hark.
Hark.
Hark.

A little rhyme for fun. I liked the ones that others have written over the past 8000 posts and thought I'd add one myself. It ain't much, but as Linda Ronstandt once sang, "I got the music in me." Edit MessageDelete Message

doubt ill be able to make it, well maybe after 1;00. yeasturday was too much, very bad cold, s.a.t.s, undercooked chickin from old country buffet, out late for some dance, and to top it off heartbreak. maybe ill make it out there next year. Edit MessageDelete Message

This is WAY TOO perfectionistic, but it's been buggin' me since last night. It was Kiki Dee that sang "I Got the Music in Me." You may also remember her for the duet with Elton John, "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart." Whew. Nothing like name-dropping the wrong 70s pop diva to make your sleep wrestless!

I hope ALL have/had a great time at the REHASH BASH. Wish I could be there. I'll be looking for details here on the Cooler. Edit MessageDelete Message

Hello all. Back from the 'bash. It was fantastic! So great to meet everyone. And food everywhere. Green could've fed an army (we're talking 24 pounds of potato salad!) Maureen and Steve were there and showed us the exact spot where Steve found it. We all even got to touch the Old Navy baby sock it was in. The PP showed up, talked to us, took notes, took pictures, asked if we were ok with having our picutre in the paper. Look for the article! And what a day - absolutely PERFECT weather (well, at least perfect for February in Minnesota). Thanks to all who made it out. And mega thanks to Greg who got the buttons there and everything. We were thinking of you, Greg. Edit MessageDelete Message

Amen to all of that Sue Bee! I have just returned from the bash myself and have followed Mr. Sax's (your 3 friends are great Greg!)lead in adding a rhyme to the cooler log:

The hunt may be done but the spirit lives on,

The crew will have fun though the clues have now gone.

Our singular quest became our common denominator,

Despite the bad news on the backyard thermometer.

The next year's months will come and will go,

But none will compare with this last in the snow.

When the time rolls around for the '99 search,

I'll be back here again, on my computer chair perch!

Thanks again everyone and another round of applause to Green for her leadership and to the champions Steve and Maureen for showing up today and sharing their tale (and their beer!)....

Hey Everyone! Just got back from our other obligation this afternoon. Wish we could have stayed longer. You won't believe this - we no sooner got seated for the fashion show our daughter was in, and in walks a women with an "Old Navy" shopping bag!

Greg, It wasn't muddy. A little icy but not bad. The PP guys (Not Casey) brought Pioneer Planet t-shirts and beanies with propellers. Your friends were great! Can't believe you actually pulled the button thing off. They were great! We (hubby and I) each bought one. Figure they will be collector items someday. Loved the little shovels. Probably be worth millions!

Anyone checking in...who else came? How many showed altogether? What time did it break up? Wish we could have stayed for the whole thing. It was fabulous meeting everyone. You're all A-1!

Green - Thanks! Edit MessageDelete Message

This will probably be quite long-WARNING!

All of the above comments are true. I am not the type of person who does this type of thing, but I wouldn't have missed it thanks to GREEN!

She is so persuasive. I have to tell you all what I missed out on today. My boys are VERY into bowling, and are on a Sunday traveling league. To keep it short, after I left them this morning, my oldest son threw his best game ever!-a 266. Spare, Open, 10 strikes in a row.

I'm not sorry I missed it because he will have more great games, but who knows if I ever would have met such GREAT people.

I want to thank LEM and JOHN from the PP. They are very nice people who show an interest in our group (we are, aren't we?). They brought the coolest beanies with a propeller on top. And lots of T-shirts.

CASEY, where were you?

Greg, there was no mud. We had plenty of ice in the picnic area. Made for tricky walking at times. Most of the day was sunny. (Atleast, partly)

I want to ask everyone who has not signed the guestbook, to PLEASE do so soon. Many future activities are being discussed and we need to be able to contact you.

THANKS to everyone who gave me such nice compliments on my attempted web site. As always, it is under construction. I wanted to get something up, and it is a start.

OK, I'm outta here. *IAN* Edit MessageDelete Message

Greg the bash went until about 3:30. It was a blast involving hot dogs, chili, corn on the cob, brats, sloppy joe medallions, chips, cookies, coffee, a monster cake, and great people. I will treasure my beanie always.

A major topic of discussion was the different ways we could all get together in the future. Casey , one of these was representing the Pioneerplanet in parades such as Grand Old Days or the Winter Carnival (hint, hint; contact our fearless leader Green to round us up).

Another topic was PPMCC logo wear. We are all for it, as I am sure green will let the PP know. Along those lines, if anyone wants an iron on transfer such as I wore today, email me your email address, and we will let you know the cost as soon as we figure it out. Given the cost of ink, transfer paper, stiff envelope, and postage for same, I would guess that cost in the neighborhood of $3-5.

To wrap up this epic length post, cake girl and I just want to say it was great to meet the faces behind the messages. Hope to see you all soon, or hear from you, or dig with you again. Thank goodness I don't have to eat all those papers. Edit MessageDelete Message
